Paulites Running for Congress

Has there been discussion about taking this step:
Wouldn't it make sense to ground the RP-inspired revolution by filling more seats in both houses of Congress? Even if RP made it all the way to the White House he'd need a sizeable number of elected colleagues in Congress to work with him.
Big step to contemplate...asks so much of a person.

I am out of the race

Why? Many reasons, most of them personal. The main reason that I am willing to discuss publicly is that during my brief campaign I came to realize that most of my fellow Americans are complete idiots.

It's Life Insurance for Dr Paul

We must make it known that if anything ever happens to Dr Paul, it will only serve to make us strive even harder to carry on the Paulean principles.

It's very gratifying to see

It's very gratifying to see a thread like this!. This is how we will truly take back our country. I have been at this 20 years and had all but given up hope that enough people would stand up and take our country back. However I am now full of hope seeing tens of thousands of my countrymen stand up for freedom!

There are already some great sites out there that have been mentioned. I recently checked out http://www.libertycongres... and it looks like a great site. I spoke to Rock Howard on the phone he is the site owner and I am going to get involved with that site for starters.

We need to vet liberty candidates and then focus the Ron Paul grassroots machine that has come together to help more Ron Paul's get elected to congress.

Do you realize that if we had a true pro Liberty Congress it wouldn't hardly matter who was President, they would keep him in check.

I am SO willing to run...

Unfortunately, I live in Rhode Island and will be going up against Patrick Kennedy. Not an easy feat considering how much of a blue state this is. Rhode Island is the epitamy of an entitlement state. If I ever ran on a platform of self responsibility and less government percs, I'd probably get hung.

I want to run but....

I live in Kentucky, and want to run for congress, however I would need some serious help to unseat our congressman, although he voted for the war, voted for financing it after it was deemed uneeded by the people, and voted for H.R. 1955 that will be used to squash our freedom of speech. I do not have the money to run.
I have a college education in Public Management with a political science minor, and am working toward saving some money for a future run, but a run now is out of the question. Congressional runs take a couple of million to even compete, so unless we are prepared to have a single website that gives a choice to donors to where their money will go I do not see it happening, I would however like to see the web site developed.
One web site that gives unknowns like myself a chance to pitch to the public our ideas and let the public decide to finance their runs before the campaigning starts. Most states allow a letter of intent up to a year before running so it can be done. What do you think?

Check out this site

PaulCongress.com has a list of Paulite candidates that you can donate to.

This is the best solution

Every state is different, but incumbants are easy to beat(especially in years that do not have presidential election attached) A lot of times, it only takes a few thousand votes in a given district. We could focous on districts that are in College towns. A lot of young people, and a small area to work in. The Libertarian message is universal. It is sort of the best of both parties. If you are running in a Blue state, run as a democrat, and emphasize the liberal social aspect. If you are running in a red state, emphasize the social conservative aspect. With over 100k people working on your side, it should be very easy. Think, If we were able to raise $30M this year alone, that's enough to send at least 20-40 Pauliticians to Congress.

I am running, and on the list below.

I have had some great folks volunteer, and I really haven't done a lot of advertising of the Campaign. Thats about to change.

An important thing also is in Georgia its a little over $4000 to get on the ballot, and I am running against a Republican incumbant and am unsure ( the party is undecided) if it will be paid for. I am sure other candidates are in the same boat.

I want to encourage you to vist paulcongress.com and get your meetup group to take one of the candidates under your wing and donate. Yes, we have all donated to Dr. Paul, but $10-25 can really go a long way in a Congressional race (exp a house race when its such a small area).

I have some money from friends, family and self, but I'll shamelessly say I need more for my own Campaign. However, I think most of the candidates would be great choices to donate to.

Thank you,

Jason Thompson

I wish it could have been more.
Thank you Sir, for your service.

It was a great amount

If 100 or so gave the same it would cover all of my Jan. budget, and leave me with money to spare heading into Feb. (actually even less than that) It doesn't take much.

and in the real scheme of things 100 donors is a very small number.

If others are considering running I encourage you to do it.

thank you.

The platform for this movement is the Republican Liberty Caucus

My opinion is that the platform for this movement is the Republican Liberty Caucus

We need to take back the Republican Party.

Singing the Dr. Paul Song

Since most or should I say almost all politicians will say and do whatever it takes to get reelected, maybe the incumbents will be singing a different tune once Dr. Paul is elected President. We will just have to let them know they will not be reelected if they do not support the revolution.

They probably will

But their voting record will tell the truth.

That's what this whole thing is about

If we learn anything from him it is that the way things are now are not the way they are supposed to be.

Those candidates are all Republicans

The candidates you have listed all call themselves "Ron Paul Republicans" although Mr. McDuffie has filed to run as a Libertarian. I believe that all of the others are running as Republicans. I have only found 2 or 3 Democrats of interest to Ron Paul supporters thus far. It looks like we will end up with 100 or so Ron Paul Republicans running. There will also likely be several hundred acceptable Libertarians and Constitution Party candidates on the ballot as well.

(This is based on early projections. There are efforts underway to get every Ron Paul meetup in the country to put up at least one candidate for congress. If they are successful, then the number of liberty minded candidates may go up considerably.)

Paulean Principles

I expect a new breed of leaders to emerge
who will sweep away those of the old guard who don't quickly adapt.
Their Party affiliation is no longer a consideration for me.
I want people who vow to uphold Paulean principles.

LibertyCongress.org and others

There are already 3 sites working to provide this information.

http://LibertyCongress.or... lists and grades liberty-minded incumbents and candidates for federal and state legislatures. Also lists Ron Paul endorsers, liberty-oriented PACs, political parties, caucuses, and more. Has a blog with a feed and facebook app interface.

http://www.PaulCongress.c... lists federal incumbents and candidates on the basis of their support for the constitution.

http://RonPaulsAcrossAmer... is a blog-like site that lists candidates that specifically support Ron Paul and ask for a listing.

Vote them Out

You know, someone could do a website that is not supposedly just for Ron Paul, but it IS to vote out every single incumbent for promising to end the war and then doing nothing about it.

Democrats who get attracted to that will help more Ron Paul people in the process. And any non Ron Paul new congressman just might get the message that they had better join the movement if they want to keep their job.

National pac

I think we need a pac that identifies and supports key Ron Paul Republicans running for congress AND opposes sitting congress critters who oppose President Paul's reforms. It should have a Board that operates in the open with clear criteria for selecting candidates to support. It could also act as a clearing house for information for local activists.

When this election cycle is over, we are going to have a HUGE grass roots organization that will be ready to turn its attention and resources to reform in congress. If the Ron Paul supporters we have now were to turn their attention to congress, we could clean house in no time.

Ron Paul has a PAC ...

Ron Paul has a PAC and at least 5 additional Liberty-oriented PACs have sprung up recently although it is not clear whether or not any of the new ones are really up and running yet. A list is provided here:

http://libertycongress.or...

You could ask Vijay for the equipment left over ...

from this campaign.

But I agree - put this on the back burner at least until Ron Paul has the nomination.

FOCUS, FOCUS, FOCUS.

Great Idea. And to get signatures to get their name on ballot.

The hardest thing for most small people is to get their name on the ballot. You need several thousand signatures for that.

Normally people pay $1 a signature. If there was a way to collect signatures from Ron Paul people without having tp pay people, that would help get things going much more easily.

Sign me up!!

That is a fantastic idea. With the swarming of phone calls and emails we could hold those congressman's feet we support to the fire. I really like the idea of a pac. We call ourselves the Ron Paul republicans.

And the money

Being able to pour a few hundred thousand dollars into a house race is huge and easily within our power. After successfully targeting a few anti-Paul congressmen, we could really have the run of the Hill and get Dr. Paul's reform agenda through.

I really believe this will happen.

He's catching on, i'm telling ya

He's catching on, i'm telling ya

This revolution is worldwide. If America fails, God help us all

Not a job for the weak

It will take very strong individuals to withstand the pressures of power. Someone can say they are a Ron Paul Constitutionalist but then change once in the seat of power.

Don't you think that many of our representatives thought the same thing when they were elected? Once you surround yourself with all the rich trappings, the office, the offers of money and gifts, only the very best of people can resist the temptation. So far the only two that I know that didn't sell out are Jesus and Ron Paul. (There may be more, but you get my point)

Why do you think that Ron Paul is so unusual? It is because he is the only one that could maintain his principles out of 535 individuals.

You may think you can go to Washington D.C and resist the temptations, but I doubt it.

Not buying at any price...

I disagree. Truly good people don't become bad people overnight, or ever in my opinion. I think it's rare that a man of Dr. Paul's character got elected to such an important position (Congress controls the purse strings, remember that), and I also believe the only reason he did was due to the controlling majority having such a grip over proceedings he wasn't considered to be a threat by those who opposed him.

That said, I do believe that some of the people elected to Congress were OK for the most part when they took office, but they were easily manipulated once there due to pre-existing character flaws. Dr. Paul just happens to not have any flaws they can exploit. (Greed, lust, gluttoney, etc.)

Russel Diamond did the same thing in PA

called PAcleansweep he got all the bums who asked for a pay raise without a vote out of PA politics. I think we could definatelty do this across the country.

I was envisioning a site, like myspace, where people could log onto their home district and know about each candidate and the next time they were running from office.

This would not be restricted to congress, but local officials as well. It is so hard for anyone to know about all the different elections we just need a site to do this for us.

There is one already

Peter James is running as a "Ron Paul candidate" for Congress in Maryland:
http://peterjames08.com/

His website could use a llttle work, but otherwise this is great news! If we all did this, we could essentially replace Congress. Maybe someone should set up RonPaulCongress.com or something like that to be a central place to find out about such candidates.

Let's Change the Congress

That certainly is true. Ron Paul will need allies in the Congress. If Ron Paul can get elected, so can people running for Congress who support his agenda of Constitutional government.

Ron Paul has said that he can't fix our problems alone. He needs to work with the Congress. This is true. The majority of congressmen have shown that they are not fit to hold public office. They need to be replaced. It makes perfect sense for people to run on Ron Paul's coat tails.

If the American people are ready for peace, prosperity and freedom, they will elect Ron Paul. And they will elect a Congress that will work with him to restore Constitutional government.

Most Important Thing is to Fill Congress with Constitutionalists

When I learned in 2006 that Ron Paul and Tom Tancredo and two Democrats were the only ones protecting basic freedoms in Congress...I was infuriated...

and I am glad that 1.5 years later this RP Revolution sprung up out of nowhere as if on cue.

Will Breazeale in North Carolina is running for Congress on a freedom platform. He is an Iraq vet and won't condemn the Iraq War specifically however. That should not be an orthodoxy requirement because that now involves an opinion about a past event and a war that should be over by now.

My advice.

I think it's great that constitutionalists are running, it's fantastic even. However, ONE OBJECTIVE AT A TIME.

If we get divided right now, we can be conquered that much easier.

Liberty Candidates for 2008

First candidate on that video -

I want him to win, and eventually run for President. I would love for there to be a President Terbolizard.

TOTALLY! Terbolizard for VP!

TOTALLY! Terbolizard for VP! Oh, man, where did he GET a name like that? I love it. We could have a President with two first names, and a VP named after a speeding reptile! Hey, if they share Paul's views I'd vote for him for sure.

We need a web site that

We need a web site that would list Paulite candidates by state. That would certainly help us all out.

Tracking Paulite Congress Candidates

I wonder if there is anyone working on this at all?

Thinking makes you smarter.
