Ron Paul Makes Me Want to be a Better Man

I am a thirty seven year old man who has done things in my life that I am not proud of. I'm not making excuses, but the way things have been in this country with the corruption, cynicism and outright deception, I have kind of felt like it was useless to try and be a good man. I was pretty complacent with my apathy until I saw Ron Paul on the first debate. I thought to myself, "Is this guy for real or just another political shill?" I had never witnessed someone speak truth to power like he did. I researched him and came to the conclusion that this guy is indeed for real. It made me ashamed for what I had allowed myself to become. I think for the first time in my life I had a role model. After much reflection, I came to the conclusion that this is the kind of man I would like to be. A man of integrity, passion, honor and devotion to the truth. It's never too late to change, especially with someone like Dr. Paul leading by example. So no matter how this turns out, thank you Dr. Paul. Thank you for inspiring this middle aged cynic into wanting to be something more. Yes, Ron Paul makes me want to be a better man.

I know exactly what you mean

I'm 36 and feel exactly the same way. I've been so discouraged by the system as it is that I took my anger and frustration out on myself through drugs/alcohol etc. The more I learned about our government and future the more hopeless and depressed I'd feel. I'm a doctor and it seemed the harder I worked to improve my life the more I was punished (through taxes to feed the lazy/entitled, fees, loss of freedoms to insurance companies etc.) I got off track and just tried to stay numb, but it didn't work. I keep reading and forming my own beliefs about what is true and right and finally decided to quit running and do something about it. I'm clean now almost a year, and people like Ron Paul and Ayn Rand have inspired me to be a man of integrity and responsibility. I'd lay down my life to defend the ideals of Paul.... I wouldn't lift a finger to defend the ideas of the status quo. GO RON PAUL!

An Open Letter To All Ron Paul Supporters

To Dr. Paul's Supporters,

You are all absolute true heroes of freedom. You have taken a virtually unknown candidate from absolute obscurity to a major candidate. Your work is literally changing the face of a presidential campaign. This is empowering...this is inspiring.

A double digit finish in Iowa is success. Although not at the top of the pack, Ron Paul is making an impact on America that is hard to deny. He's done it in the face of a party that has literally spat in the face of his ideas. He's done it in the face of a nation that still does not understand the basic tenents of monetary policy or even their own political history.

Here is why you should stay positive:

Reason #1: It's Only One State
Less than 1% of the American population. Don't fret, it's a long road ahead

Reason #2: It's a Conservative State
The evangelical vote made its impact. We can't ever expect to convert a voting bloc that votes strictly on religious lines. Irrational voting leads to irrational results

Reason #3: Revolutions Take Time
It is very difficult to convince a population on sometimes complicated issues in such a short period of time. Ron Paul's message has been adopted by the Intelligent, The Frustrated and The Young the three groups who usually make the most educated vote. We've hit the Driest Tinder. It's now time to work hard on simplifying and spreading our message.

Reason #4: The Independent (Libertarian) Option
Let's be serious, the republican primary is an excellent test ground for an independent Presidential Campaign by Ron Paul. Ron Paul is not stupid...a run for President as an Independent is still a very real possibility. Think about the momentum, Think About the possibilities.

Reason #5: Liberty is Brewing
Even if Ron Paul loses, he's started a movement that is sure to instigate others to follow in his path. If it isn't Ron Paul this time around, there is a huge army of followers sure to follow his ideals. Liberty is taking hold...don't give up.

There are many tales of successful people that have faced adversity, naysayers and constant rejection. It is not easy to change a country and an ingrained system. People are sheep, they reject change. If you are kicked you get right back up and keep on trucking.

People, we are trying to change the world. It will take an immense amount of hard work to change people's perceptions. This is not an easy task.

Keep moving forward, Keep Believing. Keep the Revolution Alive.

Same Here

I am a 37 year old man and feel the same way about Ron Paul.

Same Here

Hey John, it's Steven down in Palm Beach County. I'm right with you. I'm 34. This is showing the power of truly acting in accordance with principles many of us learned in Sunday School but I lost faith in somewhere along the way due to rampant hypocrisy. There is a spiritual dimension to this. Talk about deep change. It's not just about changing government -- it's about changing ourselves.

Very moving

I've got thirty years on you and I'm in the same boat!!
Your post made me tear up a bit. Lord but I am proud to be part of all this. Whatever becomes of this campaign, it should be remembered that Washington was soundly whipped in his first battles. It took eight years to win the first revolution.

Like those at Valley Forge, we will never quit!

from a french-canadian...

I look for this HERO since +- 2 months on the net.
Sometimes, I almost think that I dream when I look this man talking.
I mean,...in Canada we have HARPER who want to transform our country like the USA...it slowly became a nightmare...
PLEASE CHOOSE RON PAUL TO STOP THAT!!!
He is the only one.
Pray for him and the planet.Thank you for helping him, folks!

with you

I feel the same way. I had a teacher in art school who made me feel the same way but otherwise you see very few people like Dr. Paul.
Devotion to principles. It is in the fabric of his being.

I just meant I'm not a kid anymore. I am well into manhood and have just now decided how I should live.

God Bless

Depends

on how long you expect to live. I am 67 and consider myself close to maturity..

Ha! I'm 52 and just got rid

Ha! I'm 52 and just got rid of the training wheels. :)

Good post BTW. He makes us all want to be better people. To fulfill the mandate left by our founding fathers who knew that only men & women of character and integrity could keep this country as intended and defend the Constitution.

RP 08! Now more then ever.

Now I have better understanding of what Kennedy said

Ask what you can do for your country, not what county can do for you.

Well said

Yes, that quote has new meaning to me.

Thank you, Congressman Paul.

I totally agree

This campaign has affected me in a lot of ways.
Especially on personal spending and waste. Often, I ask myself now, do you really need to use the credit card for convenience, or can't you just use cash? Or even something as simple as trying to remember to use less TP or other paper, to avoid waste. Sorry for the details, but it's true.

I've been affected in larger ways too -- I used to be pretty shy, and still am somtimes, but I've really conquered a lot of fear when it's time to go and knock on one more person's door, or go ahead and talk with someone I know will be antagonistic. Not to irritate them, but just to try and spread the truth. It has been amazing to me to find people I thought would be hostile, I actually have a ton in common with. I am so happy to realize that I am now taking action, working to become a delegate, actually making a difference in our country one person at a time, the way Ron Paul has.

We have a really inspiring leader, who already has a great effect on our personal lives. I don't think this is a sort of cultish effect -- I can still decide perfectly well to go ahead and use my credit card, but at least I am thinking on the level that makes a difference for once -- do I really want to incur more debt right now; do I really need this frivolous thing, or can I use my money more effectively?

Your Right

Todd,
Your right. It is never to late to change. Every day you get out of bed there is a new opportunity to be a better person than you were! Congratulations on your self-realization. You have come so much further than many will. I wish you the best of luck!

I hadn't been much for being politically informed...

...until I saw Dr. Paul on the war issue in the first debate. I've bought all of his books, including the books he assigned to Rudy Giuliani. I've even bought several publications from the Mises institute www.mises.org Needless to say I am obsessed with self-educating on monetary policy, gold, free markets & Constitutional Government.

We the grassroots need to be as informed and as self aware of what is going on around us if we are to be more readily able to fight the establishment. We need to fill the halls of congress with Liberty loving people.

Ron Paul inspires so many people in so many different ways. He is my teacher, and my President.

Yeah it's the integrity

Integrity in the issues
Integrity in the consistency
Integrity in the character
Integrity in his commitment to We the People and to the Constitution
Integrity in his marriage and family

All because there is integrity in the man

I'm inspired too.

And I'm inspired by you sharing this, Todd.

Gwen Kraft

God Bless you man

Ron Paul has meant a lot of things to a lot of people.

those tears of ours are water for the tree of liberty.

RP08 to restore the Constitution

Someone posted a question a few weeks ago

"Why do I find tears in my eyes on this site?"

This is why.

BTW me too bro, me too.

i feel the same

and believe many would if they were to close their eyes, purge all bad thoughts, and listen to him speak.

Definitely

I totally understand where you are coming from. That is why I really think if he can just get in that more people will follow him than we realize right now. Also, because the movement is so right, I believe the people who have been disenfranchised and misbehaving because they are disillusioned will start normalizing and getting more balanced. We'll become a better country and world--back to our proud roots. God help us.

Government doesn't make people better. People do.

America's abundance was not created by public sacrifices to the common good, but by the productive genius of free men who pursued their own personal interests and the making of their own private fortunes. - Ayn Rand

The Real Great Emancipator

....is the Ron Paul Revolution led by Ron Paul.

Yes, he does make us search our souls and want to be better individually so we will be better as a nation. Dr. Paul said in his speech last night to the Veterans that the lack of outrage over documented torture and secret prisons clearly indicated that as a nation we had lost our way and that this fight was not only for liberty but also for our very moral fiber.

He & the revolution will emancipate us from the mass hysteria of the fear instilled in us.
He & the revolution will emancipate us from the media-induced paranoia and control.
He & the revolution will emanicipate us from usury and oppressive taxation.
He & the revolution will emancipate us from ill-meaning labels we place on various religions, ethnic groups, proponents of various issues, because we will be better educated to understand what it truly means for the individual to be free.

Note: Somebody answered one of my blogs a few days ago with....you still don't get it do you. I have to admit that in a sense I did not. I do now
I deleted my blog because it contained one major error, ie much as some of us admire and love Ron Paul, it is the message of freedom not the man. To get the message in its totality requires for some of us a paradigm shift. This revolution is a proclamation of emancipation and it is happening.

Thats What REAL Leaders do

nice post. America should pay attention. Ron Paul embodies all we talk about. No one I know, other than JC can claim that. Peace

you copycat!

JK. ;-) But I did actually precede you by a short time. So far no replies to my post, which is similar to yours but on a little different angle -- and a lot longer. Please throw me a reply there if you will; I'd like to get some responses to my article. :'-( (I think it just got buried too fast... so much stuff gets posted here lately! It can take a few "bumps" to get something noticed, any more.)

Sorry Man

I didn't see yours. I just wrote from the heart and if yours is along the same vain that means we are both alike in spirit. It just means Ron Paul has made alot of us feel the same way. Sorry if you think I copied you but I think many of us have these same feelings. Go Ron Paul!!!!

oh, and BTW Todd...

Ron makes me want to be a better man, too. Somehow, in my longer article, that never came out, and I managed to reply to you here twice without saying it here either. 3rd time's the charm. ;-)

no worries

As I said (perhaps not clearly enough), mine had disappeared by the time you wrote yours; you weren't the only one who missed it. ;-/

I replied to your reply on my thread also. To avoid the confusion of the same conversation in 2 places, I won't repeat here what I said there, but the bottom line is: it's all good. ;-) Click the link above to revisit that thread if you'd like to.

So true

Dr. Paul is much more than I ever thought I could expect in a candidate.

And I'm like you, Todd - I've done many things I wish I could go back and fix now, because that kind of integrity is a lot more important to me than I knew or imagined then.

Thanks for posting. :-)

Amen, brother!

Isn't THIS what we want in the Leader of the Free World? Someone so honorable and respectable, he inspires Americans to live better and dream bigger?

How sad that we're surprised by this is someone running for President. Where did we go wrong, along the way?

Thanks for the courage it took to post this.

:-) - Erin

Isn't this the REAL REASON.....

why so many of us are so motivated to work for this man and give him our money and time! This guy is SO different than the empty suits that the party machine has been shoving down our throats. If only it were possible to communicate THIS to main stream America, we would sweep the election with no competition.

Of course, we probably will anyway :)

I registered just to post a comment and reply to your post because I've felt the same way and feel so strongly when I first listened to Ron Paul speak. With such a pure message, I couldn't help but feel guilty yet hopeful at the same time, because of the message I hear everytime he speaks: guilty that I'm in my current state of naivity and ignorance, but hopeful and inspired because someone like Dr. Paul believes in me and my ability to make the right choices and be responsible for myself. That in itself makes me want to be a better person. And that's giving power back to the people.

Dr. Paul makes it look so easy.

I tell my kids "Being good is the hardest thing to do in life". Welcome to the Revolution, my friend. The Mason's say "Masonry cannot make a bad man good, but we can make a good man better". We all have said and done things that may have been better left unsaid and undone, but it is never too late to take the road less travelled. Good luck and Godspeed.

Nice

Welcome to the freedom revolution. We must all rise up to its challenge of liberty AND responsibility!
