Ron Paul's Victory in Iowa
All things considered, Ron Paul won tonight. No, he didn’t win in the sense that he won all the votes (but more than 10,000 Iowans did vote for him) –he won in the sense that he can’t be written off.
I’m sure tonight Fred Thompson and John McCain are realizing something: they can’t stick their tongue out at Ron Paul anymore; Ron Paul is within striking distance to hit them back. A three percent margin is enough to declare a clear numerical victory, but not enough to enjoy a comfortable victory. After all, Ron Paul is getting this close to them in Iowa.
This is the curious aspect of it all. Ron Paul is pulling in 1 out of 10 voters from Iowa! Ron Paul, the man who as railed against farm subsidies, ethanol, the Department of Agriculture’s wasteful loan program –yet, Ron Paul’s message resonates with at least 10% of the Iowan population.
For the longest time we struggled to get Ron Paul out of the single digit numbers. We succeeded. Iowa’s caucus was also held early this year, perhaps if it had been held a few weeks from now –when it was originally scheduled- we would have easily found ourselves in third place.
All things considered –the ridicule, media blackouts, and denial and deception campaigns- Ron Paul made an excellent showing. Give yourselves credit for this –your support brought the campaign this far.

Feel free to check, I’m not normally this optimistic.
P.S. Consider buying airtime in Nevada too, it'll piss off McCain to be beaten in his own backyard (I don't know about you but I'm still a little mad over his Wealth of Nations jeer): http://www.operationnh.co...

Yes, 4th was always hard
but at least we got double digits...
We need a shocker in NH or SC to get repsect, and by that I mean 3rd.
The game is over, now it is time to look at our next opponent -- NH.
Press the flesh and get out the vote in NH!

This made my night...
thank you for your encouraging comment. You put everything into perspective and it made sense.
Now more than ever we have to target our neighbors. If your district doesn't do well on super Tuesday or whenever, its your fault. Now is the time to get out the word! Put slim jims in mail boxes, ring door bells, lets get out there guys!

I agree.
Iowa is a very difficult state for Ron to do well in and that he did get 10% is a very good sign. I lived in Nebraska for a number of years as well. When you speak out that ethonal isn't God's gift to the world you really offend a large portion of these corn states. And then to be against subsidies. There is the old joke: "Do you know how to double a farmers income?...Give him another mail box." So if you can still get 10% to vote in your favor you are doing good. I think New Hampshire is going to give a better gauge of how he will do. I'm not sure what Wyoming is going to do for him. Many of his stances are right on target, since oil is big that will help, but I think the war issue might trip him up a bit there. I'm hoping for a 1-2 spot in NH and at least a 3-4 spot in WY. Then just dominate on Super Tuesday.
You are soooo right
What a great day! Thanks to all who do what they can.

Absolutely right
And as someone pointed out on another thread, neither Clinton, nor Reagan won in Iowa & both became President.
Plus, I pointed out on another thread--- read the book " Postville". It is about a group of Hassidic jews that buy a meat processing plant in Iowa, but the main theme of the book is the attitudes of these two distinct groups of individuals. It gives great insight into the attitudes of Iowans. We lived in Nebraska for 17 years, & both my husband & I recognized the attitudes/ beliefs.
