Ron Paul for President 2.0 in Time Magazine Online

In an article entitled "Ron Paul for President 2.0" Time Magazine marvels at the amount of Dr. Paul's web support and discusses reasons why this is not reflected in the polls and finally asks this question:

Can his wired supporters take a break from shout-outs, sending virtual drinks and writing on virtual walls to shut down their computers and go out and vote?

I think the answer is YES!

We are up to 5% in NH. Remember, in 1996, another candidate who was supposedly polling at 6% won NH with 27%.

Egads...

While it is overall not badly written, they still have to smear and "mudsling" and resort to implied "guilt by association" whenever possible -- witness the "Strippers for Ron Paul" cite.

I was pleased to see that THAT YouTube video has finally "sunk" below the water level (for about 1-2 weeks, it was the #1 result when someone did a search on "Ron Paul" there... [blanching]).

While it is actually NOT a bad video... if you make it past Tucker's juvenile giggling over saying the word "strippers" multiple times -- the [inaccurate] title itself is very off-putting to many people... imagine telling your pastor (or parents) to lookup "Ron Paul" on YouTube and having the first thing to come up being "Strippers for RP" -- they won't even bother looking any further.

Which makes me wonder... (while I have too much integrity to do so personally) how long before (Rove or someone of his ilk) starts putting out Bumper stickers that read: "Vote for Romney... A fine package deal -- we'll get not only a First Lady, but a Second Lady, a Third Lady, etc." or "Female Interns for Newt" -- or "Billary, it's two--smack--two Presimints in one!" -- or "Freddy 'Sanjaya' Thompson -- a man who can truly ACT presidential, Plus we gain a Trophy First Lady... and maybe a different one in another year or two. (And maybe we'll get that kewl 'dun-dun' sound during televised press briefings!)"

Sorry, just venting... sickened by hypocrisy of both MSM and poli-tick-ians.

Romney?

I don't get the Romney reference, as he's not been caught cheating yet, but I never saw the strippers video and I'm all over YouTube all the time!

Funny.

Funny

2.0

Well,
After 2 glasses of some fine Cabernet Sauvignon 2000, the reading of this article sure makes me feel great. Call it or coincidence or whatever 2.0/2/2000 and Ron Paul sure gives me a warm feeling.. or is that just the wine warming me up? ahhhh.. the former for sure.. {:o) Cheers from Austin.

P.S. I saw my first Romney sticker all I can say is how bland and... HAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAAA....

This article..

I could not imagine someone had not already posted it here...but it's nice to see a normal article in the MSM for a change. No the people at Time are not dummies and they know this websupport has been consistent and sustained and is backed up by the donation levels.

Can We?

Not only can we shut down our computers, we are. I barley have time anymore. Why? Because I am too busy bringing the virtual world out into the streets!

Have you seen Kucinich plagiarizing Paul's speeches?

It seems Libertarians for Kucinich have been taking a bunch of Ron Paul's speeches and re-writing them to use his arguments to defend Kucinich's positions on the issues.

For instance, they did this one about not allowing people from other states to enter California:

http://libertariansforkucinich.wordpress.com/2007/08/24/reth...

which is just a slightly tweaked version of Ron Paul's "Rethinking Birthright Citizenship" from October 3, 2006:

http://www.lewrockwell.com/paul/paul346.html

And there's also the one using a States' Rights argument to expand handgun bans:

http://libertariansforkucinich.wordpress.com/2007/08/19/fede...

which is basically just Ron Paul's argument defending states' sodomy laws from judicial activism when the Supreme Court struck down all such laws in 2003:

http://www.lewrockwell.com/paul/paul120.html

And in that one, they didn't even bother to change the title.

We should all go slam the Libertarians for Kucinich blog's comments sections and expose them for the plagiarists they are.

Site has to be a SATIRE...

Look at the Statue of Liberty with the Sickle and Hammer in place of the torch. While that is actually (IMHO) a pretty accurate (albeit satirical) picture of Kucinich's positions and ideas... one can be certain that no one truly advocating for Kucinich would use such a blatant symbol.

Pretty well-done satire... though sad that they chose to plagiarize RP's articles... still they must realize that the logic in the paragraphs and the significant citations of facts, as well as the writing by RP are excellent. People normally don't bother plagiarizing badly written pieces.

er, this is bizarre satire

It doesn't even make much sense. They are probably mad because they are losing Kucinich supporters in NH to Ron Paul,

HUH?

Libertarians for Kucinich?

Isn't that an oxymoron? How can a libertarian espouse socialized medicine and the UN? Good lord, some of these young'uns have no idea they are LIBERALS.

We have this problem in NH too.... tsk.

Worse!

There are "Libertarians for Giuliani" and the site owner is serious! We wrote back and forth briefly before he cut it off but he was serious and he called himself a Libertarian. This despite not being one. About 75% of his positions were not Libertarian at all.

Libertarian is kind of a buzz word. It pulls weight in certain circles and sounds good but like the words liberty and freedom are often redefined hedonically.

Keep up the good work people.

That quote had to be tongue-in-cheek because, I don't think we waste time doing those things. I do think we drum up support, fight the FUD, check the activities, videos, photos and blogs, and share ideas on how to promote.

The internet has given us the greatest tool for organizing in the history of mankind. And I do feel that people go out and prove we are 'not just the internet'.

:-)

PS - I promised you an article about the debate, the Luntz focus group, and a boothing episode I thought was just fun...but I am up to my ears in backlogged 'other' work. But hang in there...at least my boothing schedule is done from now until the end of September just about, unless any others pop up.
I'll be doing three places this weekend. Just pray for my health -- I get pretty exhausted these days...even if I look like the energizer bunny to some.

call me

I have a land line why don't they ever call me. I'm sitting here waiting for one of those people to call. I've just finished putting stamps on a 150 letters and I will mail them out tomorrow. I figure as long as I'm waiting for them to call me and ask me who is the best candidate to lead this country back to freedom, prosperity and peace I might as well keep myself busy. I'm mailing my letters to small businesses, doctors, restaurants, trucking companies, etc. people who are so busy trying to keep up they don't have the time to be checking out the candidates. Don't worry I'm not going anywhere. I would sit on that damn phone if I thought it would get them to call me. They just don't get it but Dr. Paul get's it.....Freedom is Popular.

Good job with the letter

Good job with the letter writing campaign. How did it go for you? That is a good point and a good idea. Many of those businesses are just trying to stay afloat despite rising taxes, fuel costs, and soaring health care costs. It would seem that many of these people do not know about Ron Paul stance on taxes, medical care.

Even if you go to his web site, the videos are not the best. They should be great improved because not everyone will go through the thought and effort to hit youtube and track down every video that details in depth RP's positions.

So good job to you, thanks.

Shut down?

Who shuts down their computer? *boggle*

I think I will bring my

I think I will bring my computer with me to the polls =P
