so did he say 'make it a hundred' or 'maybe a hundred'? im definitely not defending mccain in any way in either circumstance, but the latter would imply thats what he had figured bush's plan for our occupation would be. The tail end of his speech indicates that he very much agrees that this is favorable to him regardless, so it matters little :)

Yes, McCain does not understand or respect Ron Paul's position on the war.

What his is saying though is a Germany/Japan/Korea type presence. It isn't the be-all end-all..

Dont forget he is one of only THREE senators with children in the military. His son was/is in Iraq as an enlisted marine, and his older son is at the Naval Academy in Annapolis.

If we fail and the war continues (let's be realistic the top 3 dems have no plan to end it...) John McCain is probably the best to continue it. Most of what you are hearing is him pandering to the chicken hawks.

He is the only one with enough military experience to have even a slight chance of pulling off a pseudo-victory in Iraq as seen by the chicken-hawks. God help us if Romney/Huckabee/Giuliani win the nomination and presidency and get control of the military.

This is the kind of mentality we need ousted from government. What does he care. He won't be the one paying the price. He will be long gone and his grandchildren's grandchildren will be dying for his cause and their country will be bankrupt just so he can play the hero of the past. I want to vote for the hero of the here and now---RON PAUL. He will not be around either but he is thinking and planning for the future of his grandchildren and mine. I know McCain was a bonafide hero but that has nothing to do with running a country. If our troops thought so, they would be sending him the money not RON PAUL.
