Been There
Having had six major surguries and several minor procedures over the past 12 or so years I can empathise with Mr Beck regarding the treatment in the average hospital. I do not agree with him on a whole host of issues, but that does not mean I should wish him ill.
One major procedure about 10 years ago left me addicted to pain killers and the whole experience left me shaken. Cold turkey recovery is not fun. I also had a few more invasive procedures that required more dances with the drugs over the next few years.
All In all, I feel for the man. Nothing like a similar experience to bring out the compassion and empathy. I wish him well. I still disagree with him on many fronts, but I wish him well.

I don't know, have never seen his schtick, don't have cable. But after this campaign and all that I have seen and heard enough from the supposed patriotic talkingheads who have lured millions of us on a daily basis, with their 'desires' for a return to Constitutional government, a plea for a candidate who epouses American ideals, and on and on about what is wrong with our Nation. From Limbaugh to Hannity to Boortz, et al, ALL of them have done as much as the liberal media that they claim to dispise, to derail this campaign. I am through with them all.

If he is acting he is in the wrong business. While I may not have "been There" where Glen was, but I have visited the neighborhood a time or two.

I take what he says here with a grain of salt (of course I make it a point never to watch his show because I don't like the guy, personally).
I watched his eyes tear when he was explaining his drug induced awareness that nearly caused him to choose the easy way out (a gun) // hey what then was keeping him from jumping out the hospital window? Maybe he was on the first floor. But his eyes did tear, a bit.
I believe the guy had an awareness of just how big a crud he truly is. Many of us have been telling him that, some of it must have gotten through a time or two. Maybe the drugs relaxed his mind just enough for the message to finally sink in.
He spoke of compassion but I believe he was telling on himself. Not something he directed towards others (other than a group sending him a blankie) but others that he has perhaps HARMED with his idiotic program.
One more time -- I don't like the guy. He belittled 9/11 truthers like they were a bunch of wacko nut bags. I too believe 9/11 to be an inside job; the evidence is abundant, every which way your turn it. Some (he's one) choose not to open their eyes and see it.
Enough said.

Drugs or surgery caused the suicide feelings?
Was it the mind expanding drugs or did he like decide to get circumcised later than normal and it went bad?

Not all drugs expand your mind. A cocktail of drugs as he was given can make you feel extremely depressed for no good reason.

I generally don't like this guy, not since he bashed a noted scientist and went out of his way to discredit the 9/11 truth movement.
Sounds to me like he may have perhaps had an awakening, an awareness of who he truly is and what he truly is -- and didn't care much for the TRUTH in that regard.
I wish him the best of recovery (I wish no ill will on anyone for that matter) but I would hope that those drugs he mentioned the doctors had him on, and the TRUTH as it presented itself to him -- are remembered and that he change his attitude. He called it compassion // I believe he was speaking about himself and not giving out much of the same to others. Perhaps. Maybe he'll wise up. It's up to him, entirely.

Of suicide... Mother, brothers, etc.
Video show shim to be (as we all are) very human. And only someone truly heartless would not be moved with some sympathy for him.
But one wonders exactly what his "epiphany" will mean -- which side of the "fix heathcare" he will fall on.
IMHO, a big part of the problem is that people somehow think doctors are "mechanics" and that injuries and other health problems can be somehow fixed "good as new" by "modern medicine" -- when the reality is that for all the fancy equipment, medicines, etc. we still have a very limited understanding of most body functions. Sure, some surgery is very "precise" but that does not necessarily make it "accurate" or "complete" or even "correct" -- many modern surgical techniques are not only unneccessary, but very damaging and worse than doing "nothing."
The amount of iatrongenic (doctor created) problems is MUCH LARGER than the medical community cares to let on about. We're really not all that far removed from blood-letting, frontal lobotomies, electro-shock therapy, and phrenology. Most of what medicine "knew" 20 years ago (even in such basic things as proper diets for diabetics, or the public at large) has been proven 180 degrees incorrect by a variety of studies; and even the actual cause of majority of ulcers is still either "unknown" or disbelieved by a significant part of the doctors in the country.
Still, hope and pray that he is doing better. It will be interesting to see what and how he has been "changed" by this, and whether it is a short lived change, or a long-lasting one.
