Art Bell on Fox
Last night (Jan 5th, early) several early callers told Art about the situation with Fox. He was extremely supportive of Ron Paul and was baffled that Fox would be so blatantly "unbalanced."
Although I think Art has lost some of his fire for the controversial, he latched onto this and it was good to hear. He still has millions of listeners who hang onto his every word, and this can only be good for the campaign and bad for Fox.

I was almost asleep....
I was almost asleep when Art came on the radio last night and said "FOX NEWS SUCKS!!!" I sat up and listened for an hour of callers going on and on. It was great free publicity for Dr. Paul. Tens of millions of people listen to this show regularly and Art Bell is respected by all of his listeners.

Not hard to understand
Fox had a pre-determined objective measure of who would be included, based on polling. Paul didn't meet it. We would be railing against ABC too if Paul didn't just barely meet the pre-determined criteria for tonight. If Paul's polling was just a slight bit better he would be at the Fox debate. Fox is being objective by applying that standard for all the candidates, so I can understand Fox 's position here. But I do think they should lighten up on the criteria by looking at some other metrics of Paul's popularity, like fundraising and beating Giuliani in Iowa. They're probably thinking that they shouldn't hold different standard for different candidate's and don't want to back down on that. I don't buy the claims that they're intentionally trying to silence Paul anymore than I would buy the claim that they're trying to silence Duncan Hunter. I support pressuring Fox to reconsider on this, but I don't see a sinister plot as many Paul supporters do.
Re-watch some of the FOX
Re-watch some of the FOX debates and take note of how Ron Paul was treated by the moderators.

It Doesn't Matter...
... what their 'objective criteria' were. There is an obvious conflict with both the people of NH and the NHGOP. All the other networks are taking potshots at FOX for this. The people who make up their audience are putting pressure on them and their sponsors to change their mind. Only a man as arrogant and stubborn as Rupert Murdoch would stand fast in the face of this situation.
When CNN does a full 3 minute piece on Wolf Blitzer's show on this situation, the blowback from this decision is bigger than the exposure Paul would have gotten had they just let him attend.
Now, simply, the Paul campaign should put on an event right outside the Fox 'trailer cum studio' and invite the rest of the press corps to it. Let them have their little party, but destroy them in the process. Repeating the success of the Iowa debacle from June is the proper response to this.... along with filing FCC violations for abusing their charter, which, I believe there is a case for.
It's blatantly obvious that Murdoch hates Ron Paul (and libertarians in general). The Cato Institute has become hostile to non-interventionist Foreign Policy ever since they started taking his money in the late 90's. When other members of the media are scratching their heads because the supposedly libertarian Cato Institute is more hostile to Paul than CNN or ABC News, you know there's something rotten in Denmark.
Fox News is a similar mouthpiece organization.
Mark my words, if Paul is the Republican candidate vs. Hillary, Fox News will campaign for her and O'Reilly, Hannity and the rest of them will flop over like the little whorish bitches they are to do their master's bidding.
I'd almost wish that would happen just so we can finally put the whole 'fair and balanced' thing to bed. Of course, that would mean suffering through another 11 months of the Hildabeast while Paul cleans her clock.
Ta,
We obviously are not watching the same Faux News then...
Fox pushes an agenda....we just want them to admit it. Fair and Balanced is one of the great ironies in the MSM.
oops
oops
Since when do these licensed and regulated
broadcasters get to influence the elections? There should be jail sentences for some Fox execs coming out of this.

off the backs of people."
Free speech
Of course they get to influence elections. They should be allowed to. That's free speech. In case you didn't know, Paul himself is for the abolition of the FCC and the true privatization of the airwaves, and wants no regulation of the media including cable news (even if it is regulation to force the media to be "fair").
If you don't like it, that's what the market place is for. But you shouldn't use the government to force the media to say what you want them to say or force them to include what you want them to include.
Licensee don't have free speech, nor should they.
If they were to run, for example, pro-Giuliani ads, there are FEC laws limiting their contributions to $2300.
There are also the fairness doctrine statutes which they are evidently willing to break because they are betting their neo-con friends from whatever party won't prosecute them.
Licensees are entities with special privileges who are required to act in the public interest, ie. to comply with existing laws.

troll alert
You're right about one thing. Faux is definitely easy to understand.
They are doing everything they can to undermine Ron Paul. It is obvious to anyone with open eyes.
To say otherwise is just spin control. Say it on Hannity, they'll believe that crap. Here, you will be laughed at for saying such things.
So what was this "objective
So what was this "objective measure" Fox refuses to even speak to the campaign and tell them what their "objective measure" was, their own affiliate in Houston, Tx tried to find out about this "objective measure" you seem to know so much about, and they couldn't even get through to talk to Fox News. Whether or not Fox had an "objective measure" is up in the air, but the fact of the matter is that Fox has yet to release just what that "objective measure" was.
Do you work for fox? If so, what exactly was this "objective measure?"
All I have heard is 5 seats, 5 candidates - we pick, we decide!
Polls
Well, O'Reilly said on his show that it was based on national polling numbers but didn't go into any more detail than that. The rumour is that they had to have double digit polling nationally. It is strange that they haven't released an official statement revealing the criteria. They could be saving themselves a lot of wrath.
objective measure
ten percent in average national polls as reported by realclearpolitics.com

Send me the link from fox, I'd love to read it
I love Art Bell
I'd like to hear this! He's definitely on our side.
I'd really like to hear this
Hopefully someone will put it on youtube.
Link?
is there an mp3 audio of this?
I concur
That the lead story Art spoke about last night. His first words on air were, "FOX News Sucks!" The majority of the remaining hour of "Open Line Calls", even those who are not supporting Ron Paul, were equally disgusted by FOX News' decision.
Yowza ! I missed that !
.
Strong words from Art. I tip my hat to him.
