NH GOP Withdraws from FOX 1/6 Event
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 5, 2008
Fergus Cullen, Chairman, New Hampshire Republican Party
NH REPUBLICAN PARTY WITHDRAWS AS FOX FORUM PARTNER
CONCORD – New Hampshire Republican Party Chairman Fergus Cullen releases the following statement regarding Sunday’s Republican forum on FOX:
“The first-in-the-nation New Hampshire primary serves a national purpose by giving all candidates an equal opportunity on a level playing field. Only in New Hampshire do lesser known, lesser funded underdogs have a fighting chance to establish themselves as national figures. Consistent with that tradition, we believe all recognized major candidates should have an equal opportunity to participate in pre-primary debates and forums.
This principle applies to tonight’s debates on ABC as well as Sunday’s planned forum on FOX. The New Hampshire Republican Party believes Congressmen Ron Paul and Duncan Hunter should be included in the FOX forum on Sunday evening. Our mutual efforts to resolve this difference have failed.
While we understand that FOX News continues to move forward it is with regret, the New Hampshire Republican Party hereby withdraws as a partner in this forum.”

FIX's 'fair and balanced' reporting
on 1/3/07 around 9 am, I was in Concord, NH, doing a sign wave. There were over 30 members of OLForD in town along the main street taking part in the sign wave. A report came through that there were a bunch of mcCain supporters at an intersection in town, and encouraged us to go to that part of town, to make an opposing showing.
Shortly after I got to the corner, a guy with a video camera claiming he was fair and balanced, came to get a shot of two Ron Paul supporters with 30-40 Mccain supporters in the background. If he'd stayed around town a few hours, he could have gotten a video of a hundred of us around noon on a parade.
The only reason there were so many McCain supporters there was because Joe Lieberman was in town.
I do not agree that NH GOP is great
They are terrified that we will all vote for a Dem nominie after the primaries.. this is a calculated calmer.. Sorry I refuse to play with the GOP anymore.. I will vote for anyone like Ron Paul from now on.. NO ONE ELSE.
Town Hall Meeting
I am reading conflicting reports. Is this event being televised on national TV or not?
WHY IS THERE NOTHING COMING
WHY IS THERE NOTHING COMING THROUGH ON THE LINK GIVEN???
I Applaud NH GOP Chairman for his principled stand!
His actions to withdraw support from Fox's forum makes perfect sense and shows a new era in moral courage.
We in California are looking forward with Great Enthusiasm to welcoming Ron Paul on SuperTuesday! Or shall we say:
Hail To The Chief !
NWS Stock -- Hit them where it hurts!!!
Fox (News Corp) only cares about one thing -- money. If you own shares of NWS, sell! If you don't, recommend to anyone that does to sell!
Check out the stock on Google Finance. It has been dropping since Jan 1. Even Murdoch is selling (employee stock transactions are public).
How about not allowing candidates who take part in the Fox fraud
on the ballots for participating in unfair election practices?
That would really shut them up and it would actually force FOX to cancel
Then bring on Ron Paul and Hunter
So what does that mean?
Next Cullen is on Fox cozying it up and never mentions Ron Paul.
What does it mean. I mean what happens when they no longer sponsor the debate? La di da da. NOTHING!
If they cut their relationship with FOX out all together like no more interviews only with competing stations. How about cutting any support for the candidates that do participate in fox's swindle.
Come on, get serious!
Thank You N.H. G.O.P....Jane Was Right About You
I would like to thank the New Hampshire G.O.P. for withdrawing their support from this forum. Jane, I am happy that you were right, and I was wrong about this issue.
I think it is fair to say that although Dr. Paul fits Cullen's "lesser-known"
description due to media bias, we can be pleased that he is certainly not "lesser-funded"!
Now, the other candidates should follow suit and refuse to attend the Fox event. Their participation would show their lack of respect for fairness and would not be thought well of by the voters. And if they insist on going ahead, I hope none is hypocritical enough to try to score points by denouncing Fox after the fact, or would try to score points at Dr. Paul's expense while he is not there to defend himself.
St. Anselm College endangering its tax breaks & grants
> Now, the other candidates should follow suit and

St. Anselm College may be opening itself to lawsuit for censoring political views since being an educational institution they enjoy tax breaks and government grants. Perhaps their president:
Fr. Jonathan DeFelice
needs to reminded ( president@anselm.edu or (603) 641-7010)
of their responsibilities and liabilities.
Right On!!
Good for them! Very good news here. It would seem our voices were heard, and that he NH GOP does have integrity. Thank you, Mr. Cullen, for your fairness.

Roger Ailes Fox News Response
I thought this quote from Roger Ailes was usefull in throwing back at Foxnews.]
" any candidate who believes he can blacklist any news organization is making a terrible mistake and is impeding freedom of speech and free press."
March 2007 following John Edwards withdrawing from a Foxnews debate in Nevada
Let Saint Anselm College Know How You Feel
Fox News invited Mr. Giuliani, Mitt Romney, John McCain, Mike Huckabee and Fred Thompson to the 90-minute forum which will be held Sunday night at St. Anselm College in New Hampshire. Mr. Paul is leading Mr. Thompson in several recent polls in the state.
The New Hampshire G.O.P. has been in discussions with Fox to include all the candidates in the forum, but the network said that it was only inviting candidates who received double digit support in national polls.
Saint Anselm is as guilty as Fox for allowing this injustice to happen! Please let Saint Anselm know how you feel with their online public relations questionairre:

Fergus Cullen Walks Like a Man
That was awesome.
Give them a call!!
Consider contacting the NH Republican State Committee by phone at (603) 225-9341 or online at nhgop.org. I think they deserve a pat on the back by Ron Paul supporters.
FOX's private property rights
What about FOX and their private property rights? They have the right to invite whomever they want for a debate.
Regarding FOX's right to
Regarding FOX's right to invite whomever they want - of course they can.
People also have the right to protest and try to sway that decision.
Fergus and the NH GOP also have the right to withdraw their event partnership based on that decision.
Its not the debate.. silly.
The deletions of any candidate prior to real voting is misrepresentation.
Therefore it makes no difference what is said in the debate. It creates in the voters mind there are fewer candidates than there actually are.
You will notice MSM is not promoting yet their No.1 darling Guilani. That will come later. Their tactic now is to quickly as possible narrow the field.
"What about FOX and their
"What about FOX and their private property rights? They have the right to invite whomever they want for a debate."
Legally speaking, they use the United States of America's airwaves, which are lent to them on many conditions, including serving the public good. Hosting a complete presidential debate except the candidate who received more money last quarter than any other in his party is not in the public interest.
If they can't afford a bigger trailer, they can't afford to borrow our airwaves.

Authentic mercy stems from love. Socialism does not work because love can not be institutionalized.
I think that you need to
I think that you need to reconsider your position. You think that the airwaves are something that are owned? Let's get this straight, there are no airwaves if by airwaves you mean some kind of conduit that is used. There are frequencies on the EM spectrum. Do you really want to say that frequencies are socially owned? It seems that your signature shows that you oppose socialism, but you seem to be pushing it in this comment.
Positions in this case are clear -
NHGOP also has the right not to participate. The argument about ownership of Radio / TV (EM) Spectrum is irrelevant here.
That spectrum cannot in any case be owned any more than the core of the planet - it is therefore part of the commons. If Faux exploits their lease (in violation of the well known terms) of the commons by leaving it worse for censorship, they are externalizing the cost of their censorship and everyone else pays the cost of that benefit - which only the Neocons would in this case would seem to enjoy.
Libertarians WE need to get OUR heads around the concept of externalized costs to the commons, because that is a form of dishonesty in itself. Eliminating the commons ain't going to happen.
Just my 2c. - Peace
MY GAWD THIS IS GREAT NEWS!
Hatred is the coward's revenge for being intimidated.
George Bernard Shaw (nevermind that he founded the cursed Fabian society with Webb)
Certainly
Not if no-one tries. Besides the airwaves don't even actually exist-fox has the transmitters, etc, meaning thay can do whatever they will. By your logic, by speaking I'm using "common" air and as such am subject to regulation, censorship, and licensure by the authorities. Quite a Libertarian you are....perhaps you'd feel more at home at www.dailykos.com I think you'd find someone in favor of a speaking license over there...just say its for the children.

I think that you need to
Sorry repeat.
I think that you need to
Sorry repeat.
FOX's private property rights

NO they don't! We the public own the airways! Not Fox!
They are suppose to serve the public need in an election
Really
What's an airway? What did "we" pay for it?Who decides what's appropriate? How is using a transmitter different than speaking?
Mike Stahl
And is not fox a cable op. and therefore not on "our" precious airwaves, whatever they are?
They absolutely have that
They absolutely have that right, but everyone else has the right to ridicule and boycott them for any reason they see fit.
I'm glad the members of the NH Republican Party have integrity.
I donated a quarter bill to the NH GOP and wrote them a thank you message. My donation confirmation came from pete@nhgop.org, so if you wish to contact the NH GOP for anything you could probably use that address. If not, you can contact them through their site at:
http://www.nhgop.org/
In my opinion, every freedom loving person should give the NH Republican party thanks. Integrity is a great quality and they seem to have it in abundance on this issue.

This has GOT to give Ron a nice 'Bump" in NH!!!
People there I'm SURE do not like feeling "censored" so this is bound to give Ron a nice BUMP in the Granite State :-)
Thank you Jane & NHGOP
NHGOP rocks!

Very Long List of Boycott (able) products and services...
Thank you NHGOP, Jane Aitken
All along I've held my tongue on this issue. I didn't want to get involved in a whirlwind and argue with some of the more outspoken (and unreasonable) Paul supporters who were blaming Cullen, NHGOP, and even Jane Aitken.
That kind of paranoia doesn't help anyone.
I want to publicly thank the NHGOP (and everyone involved in that process) and Jane Aitken for their tireless yet level-headed efforts.
I do appreciat this but he needs to tell the other candidates...
The weak and the strong can not keep the same company!!
Sooner or latter these people are going to realize that we are for Ron Paul for the long haul!
I just saw this soldiers video and You tube has not updated his numbers and refuses to post good comments about this brave hero!
We need to be aware that the same people who control the TV also control the Internet. These owners are not our friends. They attempt to pacify us but make no mistake the goal is our destruction!
You say you are being silly. I pray you are right but I don't believe so. We have been taken over and the proof will be soon enough. These Zionist hate Gentiles and they want our complete destruction!
Make no mistake that there are many fine Jewish people. I am not referring to them. I am referring to those Zionist(both Christian and Jew) that seek to take over this world and enslave us.
Mankind has faced these trials before. The media is in on this, and make no mistake they are playing for keeps.
We are the only ones who don't realize that a war is going on for our Freedom.
Vote Ron Paul in 2008
I saw the CEO's letter of Overstock.com, and let me tell you that I would never be one to tell him what he should do! Never! But I will tell him what I am going to do, and that is boycott his site if he does not pull his add from Fox.
He needs the people on the Internet and he will go down if he proceeds forward and advertises with Fox but that is his choice not mine. I loved that site but if he stays with Fox I swear on every thing I hold as Holy that I will never buy another product on his site.
So if you are his competitor and you want our business, step up to the plate and get it because millions are going to stay true to this Boycott!
All this is fine and dandy, but until
you get someone within the Paul Campaign with enough grit to get in the face of media and either do one of two things: ceast and desist this detestable bias, or 2. Get loud, and threaten lawsuit. You know, the Al Shrapton thing, they will continue to marginalize him on out of the picture. Hell, Huckabee's stealing his playbook everyday., and getting away with it.
Ron Paul Wins, Fox Loses
We all owe the Republican Party of New Hampshire and Mr. Cullen, our thanks for not allowing special interests, represented by Fox News, to claim to represent NH Republicans. Fox News is just a Mouthpiece for the Council on Foreign Relations. Their job is to limit the choices of the American people to options acceptable to the CFR.
I think that Fox's efforts have accomplished two things, netither of which they are happy about. First, Ron Paul has gained publicity that the media were not giving him. And second, the American people can see the lengths that some organizations and individual will go to silence a message that is dangerous to their interests.
Integrity
.
Deep bow to the NH GOP for its wisdom and integrity. I hope this gets noticed in other states.
I'm impressed
I'm impressed that the NHGOP followed through. I don't think the GOP in most other states would care to do so. But this is the position of integrity for them to take.
The media's job is to cover an event, so how did it ever get to the point where the media actually has a hand in the invitations and arrangement of the event? That should never be allowed to be the case. These events should be arranged entirely independent from the media and the media should be invited to broadcast it. What a racket.
Fox's slogan should be changed to We Make News, You buy it.
Don't forget our 2008 anti-fox strategy!
Remember everyone, let's force Fox News to change their slogan. Make up your signs, banners, t-shirts, Internet post and banners, etc. to say:
"FAIR AND BALANCED" Fox news excluded Ron Paul from the New Hampshire forum. Is that Fair and Balanced?
Make sure cameras see your signs, banners, etc. We do this thoughout 2008 and become a thorn in Fox's side. If anyone knows anything about advertising, then you know it will cost Fox News millions of dollars to change their slogan. They already have egg on their face. Now lets lets rub it in!!!
============================================
The Ron Paul revolution is coming through your town. Either jump on board or get the hell out of the way!!!
Good Move
Glad to see the party take a stand for being inclusive. How ironic. People give freedom of press in the Constitution then what happens? ... The media surpresses political debate. SHAME ON FOX!

I'm not a lawyer. Maybe this isn't the best way, but it seems to me that now that the NH Republican Party has revoked its endorsement, then there is a case to be made that FOX is violating the terms of their FCC license. Check out my email to FOX and to to commissioners of the FCC (Repost this at will):

"This communication will be forwarded to the FCC, and I request that this communication be added the FOX/News corp. FCC Public File. I will request a copy of your public file in the future to ensure compliance.
"It has come to my attention that Congressman Ron Paul will likely be excluded from participation in a general GOP FOX News forum to be aired on January 6th, 2008. The New Hampshire Republican Party has revoked their endorsement of this event, as they deem that Dr. Ron Paul is a viable candidate after receiving 10 percent of the vote and 2 delegates in Iowa's Republican Caucus that took place January 3rd, 2008. Since the NH Republican Party felt the need to withdraw its endorsement, then it seems likely that FOX News is acting against the public interest by excluding viable candidates from their open Republican forum.
"Since the FOX News forum is open to Republican Presidential Candidates then it seems duplicitous to exclude one of the 5 Presidential Candidates who have earned delegates toward the Republican Party's Nomination. The NH Republican Party withdrew their endorsement because your broadcast company refuses to uphold its duty to the public to report news. If this effort to defraud the public continues, I will make more complaints to the FCC as well as communicate to your sponsors indicating that they will not receive my business any longer."
Please do you job,
FCC Dogs
I don't think calling out the FCC dogs would be consistent with Dr. Paul's view of the proper role of government. Fox is a private enterprise and they can do what they want with their property. Fox is damaging their own reputation far more than they are harming Dr. Paul's campaign. There will probably be more talk about his exclusion than about the forum itself.
Yes it would...(earmarks)
The FCC is currently in charge of licensing broadcasters, just like the IRS is responsible for allowing me to claim authorized tax-credits. As much as this is unfair, I will use the FCC until it is abolished, just like I will attempt to use the law to get all my deductions and tax credits. I want the FCC abolished, but until that happens, the FCC is responsible for monstrocities like FOX and are legally capable of doing something about it.
There is nothing wrong with using the system against itself.
Well said,
well done. Thank you.
Good idea.
I'm writing FOX and the FCC too. Thanks for the addresses!

Hi Ron Paul supporters. I'm in the UK and I know that I'm not alone in being eagerly enthusiastic for Ron Paul and the ultimate benefit to USA and wider democracy/freedom. They say that what happens in the USA rubs off over here!
As a matter of interest, upon our '92 election there was a headline in THE SUN newspaper: 'It woz the Sun wot won it'. I've never forgotton that message whether one supported Thatcher or not.
Good luck everyone and keep it upwards and onwards.
Great!
This is great news! Fox News with egg on its face is a good thing when it comes to this.
