Frédéric Bastiat 2012

19th Century French philosopher and congressman Frédéric Bastiat has recently announced his candidacy for... French President.

Frédéric Bastiat 2012 campaign website

That's a way for French libertarians and classical liberals to make their own Revolution and to express the lack of Ron Paul-like politicians in France.

Frédéric Bastiat has written "La Loi" ("The Law") which is a best-seller in the United States and which has been suggested by Ron Paul as the book every American should read.

There are a lot of similarities between Frédéric Bastiat and Ron Paul :
-He was a congressman in a coastal South district... in France
-He has advocated a foreign policy of non-intervention, against colonialism and was on this opposed to both Right and Left
-He has avocated a local social security system and has warned many times against Government intervention on this issue
-He has written many books to make the philosophy of liberty known by everyone
-He has published several newsletters about economy
-On many issues he has always refused to follow Parties rules and voted against both Right and Left

In France, among libertarians, we are admirative of the way the Ron Paul Revolution has grown in the US and we hope for the best for him !

I quickly looked over the site...

...and it's a damn good start! It thrills me to see that the ideas of Liberty are beginning to grow across the face of the Earth. Even if (God forbid) Dr. Paul doesn't get elected, I take comfort in knowing that the seeds have been planted and America won't have to go forward alone. I have recommended 'The Law' to many people and will continue to do so. Vive la France!
