Taking on the Democrats
The prevailing mood in the U.S. is that the democrats will win the election; that the republicans, wholesale, represent more of the same. It is wise to remember that most Americans are still in the dark about Dr. Paul and his message of freedom. So, if you have a few minutes, maybe you can help me change that.
Google News can be customized so that it will search on a given topic and display the results in your news page. I used to have Ron Paul as the topic and then often post my views at various news sites. Then I realized the pro-Paul sites are not the place to post; it is on the news sites carrying stories about the democrats.
The goal is to change the minds of the readers; to get them to consider Ron Paul. I often mention that the other top candidates are members of the CFR and explain why it is an insidious organization and why Dr. Paul is not--nor would ever become--a member.
So now I visit the Hillary stories and post pro-Paul comments at every newspaper and web site that will allow a comment. If you have not done this, I urge you to. We need to plant seeds in the opposition's camp. You will have to register at the various sites, but that's easy. By posting a message to the Washington Post, or USAToday, or Wired, or other news site--you can greatly help Dr. Paul's campaign.

well said
I've had some success in posting at CNN blogs, got a response via email from the Washington Post and even attempted FOX. Your suggestion to get on other candidates sites is excellent! WARNING: Be judicious, polite and be careful not to use "you" statements, but rather "I feel". It will be at least tolerated, if not welcomed vs. opposed or ridiculed.
Dems don't have a shoo in yet
If the Republicans represent more of the same, then what do Democrats represent? Radical change? Right now, the approval ratings of the Democratic Congress are in the toilet all because they are not doing a thing to change course. It's more of the same when it comes to Iraq and more of the same when it comes to the destruction of the Bill of Rights. Obviously certain Democrats will fair better than certain Republicans, but all the media-anointed front runners of both parties are seen as part of the current problem. But, this is in the eyes of those who are paying attention. That leaves us with the other 75% of the population to deal with.
They might as well
With nearly 30% of the registered voters in CA Decline to State Party and the GOP threatening to block DTSP voters from their ballots, that would deliver the election to the Democrats by default. That guy who got tasered only asked Kerry why he conceeded...why is the GOP conceeding before the election?
re: why is the GOP conceeding before the election?
For the same reason an unlikely John Kerry was the Dem choice in 04, the GOP will pick a sure-loser in 08. Much like the way they govern the UN, the "two parties" have a rotating presidency. This creates the illusion that there are in fact two parties and both the left and the right mainstream voters will feel as though they fought and lost, fought and won, fought and lost, etc. ...Divide and conquer.
The Bush family and the Clinton family are our modern-day royalty. Two sides of the same Federal Reserve minted coin. Much like that coin, they only pretend to have value.
I agree Alan
RP's campaign is shooting its self in the foot with a canon in CA. I've never seen a more ignorant group of campaign managers in CA. Absolutely CLUELESS and careless for that matter of how the REPUBLIC of CA thinks and operates. I believe the GOP fully intends on handing this election to Hillary and handing the list of RP supporters over to her as well. I feel sorry for Ron Paul. I think the GOP hi-jacked him to mine people of their money and put them through hoops and ladders to nowhere. All these conspiracy theorists acting like their NAU and Ron Paul assassination is not conspiracy theory but telling others who watch Aaron Russo and Aleex Jones that THEY are whackos and actually BLAMING them...that's such a BUSH GOP response. If this was a campaign of integrity, RP would win, but it's not designed to win, it's designed to divide and concur from within. I think this campaign will put RP out to pasture very soon. The GOP hates RP, and his campaign hates him and his supporters, as they prooved time and time again.
You know I'm sick of your
You know I'm sick of your comments you say how they are doing a horrible job. If they are doing something wrong post what they are doing and what you believe they should do different. Otherwise I think you're the plant, you're the troll, you're the liar.
Are you here to support Ron Paul or are you ehre to turn people against the campaign and sabotage it? By not posting facts, logic, and reasonable arguments - you are sabotaging this movement.
Either start stating what is being done wrong, and how it can be fixed, or shut up and leave.
revilre
Apparently you haven't read all of my comments because I've stated in several posts under several topics what the campaign has done and is doing WRONG.
The campaign does not do their homework, when they consider San Francisco Northern CA. It is not. We have a great many independents here, and in my county, we have more voters per capita than any county in CA. We have 26 internationally active PEACE organizations. How smart is it of the campaign to not reach out to 26 internationally active PEACE organizations when Dr. Paul claims he's antiwar?
We have legalized canabis here and our economy is based on cannabis sales, to which one Libertarian presidential hopeful MOVED here just to campaign KNOWING that this area would deliver him the money and they chance for his nomination (he joined my Meetup and told everyone how much he hates the GOP, that Ron Paul is a loser but since 70% of the Libertarians are supporting him, he joined my Meetup...So I closed the only Meetup in the county. But I'm not alone, we have a dozen counties here that the campaign is not reaching because the staff is not contacting any of the Meetup organizers, who like me, I have donated money, $575.00 to the campaign, but way way more in campaigning materials, while I came to find out, other Meetups have recieved FREE campaign materials. So Now, I got some of those materials which cost me in gas and time, and I'm spending more money driving from Humbolt County to Sonoma County delivering these materials and helping these Meetups...but I am suggesting they "tag" the signs FOR PRESIDENT, because the campaign did not put FOR PRESIDENT on any of the materials they gave. WHY? Lucky you will not be seeing much of me because I'm headed to NV to supply Meetups there the campaign is also neglecting, and there's more
The campaign has meddled in Meetups, and these emails have been passed around and to the campaign and the campaign did not respond.
That's not smart. Money is an investment and apparently this is paying off for some but it's not paying off for the Meetups when those who need it most are being exculded.
Like many people here in NoCAL, I'm not going to join the GOP for Dr. Paul because there's too many GOP like Arnold, who I'm not going to support. Instead of working within the GOP to get the Decline to State Party vote, the campaign is bowing to the GOP and, like you, wanting to tell us we have to join the GOP. The loss in 30% of the voting CA population.
That's stupid.
Ron Paul is not my hero. I respect Ron Paul for his antiwar stand, his anti-war on drugs stand, and while I have had reasons to support him, when the GOP says they are going to block decline to state party voters...that hands the election to hillary.
Ron Paul was interviewed after his last debate and Colbert said to him, "Your own party is in disagreement with you, so how do you expect to win the nomination? Ron Paul said: "The Independents".
How does Ron Paul expect to do that when is campaign is saying GOP or nothing? Pretty stupid or dishonest?
Also, this thing about the campaign bashing truthers. The truthers are what got the grassroots started, not the Baptists...and you guys think you can turn the Baptists on? Ayn Rand warned Barry Goldwater of appealing to the religious right, she warned, it would be the beginning of the end of the GOP. She was right. The neocons are what she warned Goldwater about.
Finally, I don't go around telling people to shut up and leave when I don't like what they say. I ignor them. I'd like to suggest you ignor me, because suggesting I shut up is not repecting my first amendment rights, and it makes you a hypocrite in fact.
my vote
I have been thinking about this also. If Ron Paul doesn't get in or one of the second tier Democrats I will most likely vote Libertarian. I will not vote for a first tier of either party because I think they are all bought and paid for and working against us. Happily, I won't have to do that Dr. Paul's party is just getting started because freedom is popular.
I'm a Democrat for Ron Paul
I'm a Democrat for Ron Paul, but honestly, if Dr. Paul is not the republican nominee, I will be voting for a Democrat. This war needs to end, and none of the other Neo-Con warmongers are acceptable to me. I will then do whatever it takes to get a Democrat elected next year.
If Ron Paul doesn't become the nominee, I really hope the republicans get slaughtered in '08. I hope it's a huge victory for the Democratic Party, as this will cause at complete distruction of this insane Republican Party we've had for the past 6 years.
If the republican party can't get their heads out of this fear & war, then that is the only way it can be fixed. Ron Paul speaks the truth when he says the Republican Party has lost its way, and the only way to get it back may be a strong message from the American People.
My Poor Deluded Friend . . .
Both Republicans and Democrats want the very same thing - power. Both Republicans and Democrats will keep the war going. It feeds their ability to get and hold power. War is the health of the state and both parties have a stake in keeping the state very healthy indeed.
The only difference between Republicans and Democrats is the way they want to go about getting and holding power. Democrats do it via wealth redistribution to the poor. They increase the size of the bureaucracy and the welfare state, literally buying votes with taxpayer money. Republicans do it through corporate welfare, funneling money to the rich and powerful to maintain the status quo. These, in turn, funnel millions of dollars into their campaigns. Both are forms of stealing and both are wrong.
Only Ron Paul will take us out of this war. Only Ron Paul will make every effort to reduce the size of government. Only Ron Paul cares more about our freedoms than about how much power he can amass. Only Ron Paul will make a difference in our current situation.
Ron Paul must be president - there is no real difference in any of the other candidates in the two major parties. I mean, picking between socialism and fascism - your still picking between two totalitarian governments . . . picking between arsenic and cyanide - you're still dead!
Hillary or Obama?
So if Ron Paul doesn't get the nomination, you'll vote for Hillary or Obama as president? Haven't you been paying attention? It doesn't make sense.
What makes you think either of them will end the Iraq war or NOT do something stupid with Iran?
Yes I agree, here is what I say
Yes I agree, here is what I say.... feel free to take it as your own...
I used to be a democrat. I always looked to the progressive civil rights side of things. Then I realized the best thing we could do was kill the corporate-welfare Military Industrial Complex beast. If we could do that, then people like you and me would have more money for the charities we love and respect. If we did that, real jobs with real wages would grow and flourish. If we just did that, peace and prosperity will come. So that is why I work to abolish the income tax, it will kill the beast.
There are many battle fronts......
There are many, many battle fronts for Ron Paul to counter, but one that I think most Americans will perk up and listen to, is his specific plan to send the Fed Reserve packing, and diminish, if not eliminate the Fed Income Tax. Only Ron Paul advocates this......forget taking sides in the Iraq/Iran issue. As long as Bush and Co. govern, we'll be shooting at somebody.
Let's concentrate on identifying the real bad guys - the slimey foreign banker slugs controlling our livelyhood with unconstitutional demands on our labor (income tax). Only Ron Paul even treads in these waters, and that's exactly what got my attention to Ron Paul in the first place.
Now, he's got to make it sound "do-able". Not "pie in the sky". He'll be standing alone in the spotlight on this issue. Go get em Ron!
Most other candidates are committed to war on Iran
It might be worth mentioning that most of the other major candidates are working on the orders of AIPAC, a foreign lobbying group, and promising them that "all options are on the table" as far as stopping Iran's legal nuclear aspirations.
Another good issue is the border invasion from Mexico.
You're right to seek undecided voters from other camps.
Go Ron Paul!
Ron Paul 2008: The most important vote of your life
Moot Point
Somehow, I think that if we can get Ron Paul past the primaries, he will demolish Hillary. The primaries are everything.
primaries..
Yep you are absolutly right...... can you imagine hillary or obama in a debate with Ron Paul when there are only 2 candidates!! and no question can be ducked! OH MY GOSH!! I can't hardly wait! I can see it now.. "Hillary so you think we should send our troops after Osama bin Laden?..." (hillaries responce) why yes we should, and bomb Iran and any other country that supports his evil ways! Congressmen Paul your answer?
Well if Bill clinton would have arrested Osama bin laden in the mid 1990's when The Sudanese Government had him and wanted to turn him over to us there would be 1,000,000 iraqis still alive and 5000 of our troops still alive, and our country would not be bankrupt! If the then president Clinton would have made good foreign policy choices all of this heartache could have been avoided!..... OH MAN I can't wait!!!!!! WE NEED DELEGATES FOR THE PRIMARY FIND OUT WHAT YOU NEED TO DO IN YOUR PRECINCT TO GET Ron Paul past the primaries and we can watch hillary get beat to a pulp!!!!
Definitely
You're certainly right that we have to resist the urge to preach to the choir. We need to go out there and stump for new supporters.
We need to be careful how we do it, though. I try to take all of my cues from the campaign. Our meetup group is in regular contact with our state coordinator and his guidance has been invaluable; these guys definitely know what they're doing!
I mention this because you said you're trying to raise awareness about the CFR. That's such a hard sell, though! Even the most involved voter has probably only heard of it in passing and it sounds like it's a good, prestigious thing. It really doesn't matter how good your argument is, you'd have to develop a strong level of trust with the other person before you can overcome that kind of inertia.
So I guess what I'm saying is that to convince voters, we need to talk to them about the issues they understand and care about. (The income tax is probably the best; most people don't know we survived without it for 120 years!) We'll have 8 years to educate them about our issues after we win!
Keep fighting the good fight!
Jeff
Don't focus on the CFR
I think the best argument for Dr. Paul on a pro-Hillary or Obama article would be that if the voter truly wants out of Iraq and they do not want to repeat the mistakes of the past Ron Paul is the only choice.
Hillary and Obama and most if not all of the Dem feild are talking about "redeployments". They will still persue an interventionist foreign policy. They will not undo all of the exectutive orders, the Patriot Act, or the Military Commisions Act.
By focusing on a group like the CFR you allude to backdoor meetings and secret agendas. I do not know for sure that anything like that exists, but I do know what these politicians are saying. That cannot be refuted.
CFR
this is the problem with Americans today! you say you don't know about the cfr? this is why this country is in the bad position it is in because Americans do not take time to find the truth. The CFR (council on foreign relations) is a one world government organization who's hell bent on destroying this country and merging all nations under a one world government.. YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR SURE.. I GET SO TIRED OF AMERICANS ACCEPTING WHAT THEY ARE TOLD AS TRUTH FROM THE MEDIA AND GOVERNMENT.. GET OFF YOUR BUTTS AND RESEARCH WHAT THIS ORGANIZATION IS DOING TO YOU! both democrats and republicans are members of this CULT! why???? as a "republican" you should not have nothing to do with any organization where democrats are members.. hmmmm somethings not right.. just goes to prove that there is no difference between the 2 parties both are controlled by the CFR to bring about thier one world government.. shouldn't mention it?? I think your wrong.. if the American people knew what these jerks were doing to them there would be riots and rebellion like crazy! QUITE BEING SHEEPLE FOLKS! Ron Paul knows exactly what these groups are and what they are doing! ofcourse he cannot speak his mind about these groups because of the obvious! but he does know! Its time to start talking about the CFR, BILDERGERGERS TRILATERAL COMMISION ETC. GET EDUCATED. ITS YOUR COUNTRY THEY ARE STEALING.. ITS YOUR MONEY AND YOUR FREEDOM AND LIBERTY...
TALK ABOUT THE CFR?... HELL YES!!!!! RON PAUL IN 08!!!!!!
Know your audience
I understand what you are saying and I respect your passion. I am aware of everything you have said.
My priority is to focus on what the people I am talking to care about today and highlight how Ron Paul is addressing that issue. Not to make them see the light about some new issue they should worry about.
You have to understand that people agree on Ron Paul for different reasons.
If you goal is to win supporters for Ron Paul and not further YOUR agenda you should tailor your message for the audience you intend to reach.
once again
Again if the American people knew what the CFR was doing to them behind their backs they would find them and lynch them... the sooner the American people find out about this treasonous bunch the better.. If people would actually sit down and study this group they would be so irrate that a Ron Paul victory would be GAURANTEED. I think alot more people know about these types of behingd the scenes groups than we think.. Should we put the CFR and Rons hatred toward this organization together... maybe not, but shining light on the darkness of these groups would only help Ron Paul when people know that he is not nor has ever been a member!
When I post comments at
When I post comments at digg, I say that the CFR wants permanent war in the mid-east. I mention that Hillary, Obama and Edwards are CFR and that the only anti-CFR candidate is Ron Paul. Then I include a link to http://RonPaul.meetup.com
Famous Quote from Justice William O. Douglas
"The Constitution is not neutral.
It was designed to take the government
off the backs of people."
Agree
.
I rarely mention the CFR in my discussions with people. However, in posts I do mention it, since there is good documentation on its involvement with the UN, NATO, NAFDA, GATT, the WTO and the likely North American Union. (North Carolina driver's licences are now carrying a logo of North America on the back; no more U.S.). I point out the various people who are members: Dick Cheney, David Rockefeller, George Stephanopolous, and so forth.
I do not mention 911, nor the income tax. Those are hot-buttons. When I have mentioned the income tax, I learn that people think it is necessary to keep the government running, and that it is foolish to abolish it. It takes too long to convince them otherwise (stop the war, stop the tax).
What is important is to discuss and post topics about Ron Paul that you are most comfortable with. If you are not comfortable with the CFR, but are comfortable with the IRS, then that is great. Between us we will cover more bases.
Boy, you're busy, zen!
Have been trying to catch-up with you to give thanks for the Blgs. Gazette post (and other DP posters), so thanks! Have been trying to get my Members to focus more local (many opportunities for RP exposure in our State~we need it), and I think this did the trick. Things got ugly over there (Reps, not Dems), and my plea for help got their attention. Good work!
Great idea
That's a great idea. Thanks for that. I'm going to implement that strategy as well.
