I love MOST of what Dr. Paul says. I only wish that he would talk about the one thing that none of the other candidates talk about. They all mention the need for everyone to be insured but NONE of them talk about the fact that having insurance is meaningless if the insurance company (some stupid pencil pusher) can decide not to pay or pay people to look for excuses not to pay.
People need to see SICKO. I lived in England and I can tell you that having national health was much less expensive than buying insurance so an insurance company can profit. By the time you pay premiurms, co-pays, etc. etc. you still have a big bill.
With National Health Care - even if you lost your job, you didn't have to worry about losing your home from ill health and not being able to afford medical expenses. The baby-boomers are getting older. Something needs to be done sooner rather than later.
The only other thing is that it is all very well to talk about our citizen rights to lobby Washington, but seriously folks, how easy do you think it would be for some ordinary middle-class person to get a meeting with anyone in Washington? Lobbyists know that money talks and the rest of us can walk. How many of our politicians will end up working for lobbying firms? After all, they have the right connections in Washington. It's corrupt.
You say it is a great one hour. I have to disagree, while the message comes out clearly the performance and setting was mediocre.
From my point of view in Sweden and not completly up to my neck in the Ron Paul Revolution this is what I find when watching this hall meeting:
The audience is plastic, half of the audience is there as Ron Paul revolutionaries, clapping frequently the other half of the audience is not and doesn't clap at all.
Some questions are conviently and obviously suited for what Ron Paul want to talk about. Further adding to the artificiality of the event.
The introduction and Kent Snyder as the moderator creates a disgenious atmosphere comming out rather noticely over-scripted in practice.
Rand, Carol, Barry and al. sitting on stage makes the event look like a protest of bitter followers.
I don't know what Joseph Goebbels the minister of propaganda himself would have thaught about this kind of promotional video. If it would detract or add to the publics approval or not.
How can the people of NH be voting for anyone but Ron Paul?? It sickens me that Mccain is leading in the NH polls. I hope this video will be aired throughout NH until the primaries.
As usual, his message is fabulous. However, I wish he would drive his points home better. If he has some time, I would love to see him read the way that Harry Browne used to explain these ideas.
I knew I could get your attention. First off, I support Dr. Paul 100%. I am 54 yrs. old, a registered Democrat and will vote for RP in 2008. (And am a Paulette)
When I view the YouTube street rallies for Ron Paul I feel proud to be an American. BUT .......
Can we "Paulites" hone our zeal just a bit as to not alienate the voters that we so urgently need to attract?
To all you Ron Paul rally-ers... be inclusive and humble. It will say volumes.........
We need to create a money bomb for recounts in every state. PLEASE SPREAD.......................WE CAN DO IT................................................
....in everything he does. He said he was having a town meeting and that is exactly what he did. It was not about putting on a show. It was not about superficial tripe, pandering, or even having his volunteers conduct a pep rally. No, it was about having a town meeting and letting people ask the tough questions (not planted or pre-decided questions). In answering, he not only answered in detail, it was obvious that he wanted to answer *that* individual's question to their satisfaction. He was statesman-like, clear and articulate in a wise but totally unaffected, genuine and trustworthy manner. Remarkable. Unprecedented. Not politics as we know it.
We've watched debates that were hardly debates, seen polls that were not polls, listened to news that was not factual, heard reports that were not complete, In the ABC debate we saw grown men running for the highest office in the land... smirk like monkies, giggle like little girls, interrupt, bully and swagger, and flat-out lie. We saw traitors and imposters be treated with respect by media... listened to as if they were saying something... when one went on a mumblefest and some of the others simply repeated what others had said, but in reverse order. And that was when they were being nice. Ridiculous.
And then the old media explains what its all about. It's about who is the most likable. Who has the best strategy. How they are perceived. How well they know the game and how well they play it. Nothing about who they really are, what they stand for consistently, what they will do for their country and why. Nothing about me. I am not in the equation. I know too much about who pulls their strings...all of them. Candidates. Media. World feels scary, looks dark, makes no sense. Being lied to and knowing it, makes me feel out of whack.
And then along comes Ron Paul. I like him, but he doesn't really care because these may well be the most critical times in this Republic's history. He cares more about educating me quickly, because this message is so big that it can't be spread alone. Once *that* is understood....whoa, the epiphany. We the People as a body of liberated individuals are fighting a battle against just about everything in order to restore our Constitution and our rights.
Thanks for posting. Grounded me. World of politics was looking really murky .
You have to understand that Ron Paul is a "bad idea" to there desires plans and out comes.
The GOP will not stand behind paul willingly because to do so is to ABANDON all that is there reason for existing. PROFIT above all else first.
So to support ron paul would be like Wal Mart supporting the guy who wants to see wal mart ruined. Its just not going to happen.
Media companies and corporations have a VESTED interested in NOT supporting paul.
Ron Paul is BAD FOR BUSINESS.
There is only TWO things Ron Paul is good for and little else.
THE PEOPLE and THE CONSTITUTION
So the only place he is going to have a chance of getting support from IS US. The only way his message will get out there is through US.
I am proud of his 10% in Iowa. Consider that was with a virtual media BLACK OUT and we still managed to get 10% of the people to "open there eyes" and see for once.
I am praying hoping and pushing for a much larger result in New Hampshire.
Yes, I understand what you mean and your intention, yet...
I have to state emphatically that Ron Paul IS GOOD FOR BUSINESS !!!
(he is not a socialist, that is usually bad for business). He would only be "bad" for "special interest business", e.g. those business that profit from special government programs, on the one side. On the other side, he will be good for all business, even including those that profit from the current special interest business (like GE, military contractors etc.) as they would have to pay less taxes. These firms would also save by not paying for any "bribes" to get contracts, as the bribes would be totally rooted out of the system AND they will also be forced to be more competitive and creative.
His economic philosophy would enable a more level playing field in the business areas, as no one group or sector receive special bonusses from the government anymore. SME's would profit especially. The dollar would also strengthen, which would help most Americans and inflation (plus tax-inflation) would be much less. Overseas companies would also be encouraged to invest in the US, as the dollar will strenthen (so they can make money also with currency investment) and this will lead to a higher stock market.
In short: Ron Paul would be very GOOD for both MAIN STREET AND WALLSTREET (not Mainstreet without Wallstreet as with Huckabee etc. , or Wall street, without main street). Winthin Wallstreet, the exporters may be "hurt" temporarily with higher dollar, but the economy will be more balanced and the US exporter will focus on high technology exports. Andre Kostolany always said a STRONG US dollar is the basis for a strong Wall Street and the international stock exchanges as well.
I'd like to burn this to DVD for my parents, but I don't want to stick them with youtube quality video. Anyone know of a source for a high quality video download?
I'm willing to seed it on bittorrent (2 mbps upstream on my link) if someone can provide one.
I'm seeding those, but I'm really interested in this town hall meeting. I grabbed the video from youtube and it's not the worst quality, but I was hoping for a source for something better.
After watching this it was exactly every reason that I love Ron Paul. It got me so excited because if every person in the country saw this video they would all switch to RP in a heart beat. It breaks my heart however to know that I am one of the few who will actually get to view it and most will never know any of these positions before tuesday.
but what I'm most anxious to see is the crowd of "10,000" that was supposed to have showed up there, as well as the reported reaction of the production hosts.
this set has the production quality of a high school musical filmed by a camcorder. the audio from the audience mic is pretty awful too. maybe this campaign is a little too fiscally conservative? i know that's why we like him, but what will people see? how can Ron Paul get through to the ADD generation?
I just read on ronpaulforums.com that this was only broadcast in Manchester, no where else in the State and not on CSPAN? Only on one local channel.
I'm not complaining, I just wish that it could have gone across the whole State, and why will CSPAN not pick it up. This is so frustrating, it's like fighting a battle without any tools or weapons.

Fantastic post
I think the same way you do, and you articulated it so much better. When will the GOP understand he is our only chance to win the Democrat vote?
