Breaking! - Frank Luntz EXPOSED!
Submitted by Jane Aitken on Tue, 01/08/2008 - 12:10
In this video, Chris observes some on-the-ball Paulites (that he did not know were going to be there) confront Luntz about his manipulative methods without knowing that Chris has just made an audio file with evidence of Luntz attempting to influence the 'focus' group that Chris attended on the 6th which will be posted later on his website.
If this is true, Luntz is pwned! Good job Chris Brunner! (Just arrived here the NIGHT BEFORE with OLFOD and is already doing great work!) Chris was inspired to do this after he heard about my experience in the so-called 'focus' group back in September where Luntz made no bones about ridiculing RP in front of the 29 people in my group.
This was filmed out side the Merrimack Restaurant which is on the main street of Manchester, and just across the side street from the Radisson Hotel where the protesters met Hannity Sunday night.
(The film will be reposted after further editing. I know a lot of you were upset about that person, but he wasn't connected to what Chris was doing...they just happened to be there)
In this video from 'check' from September 5: (thank you check)
You will see this 'Chuck' character who was originally sitting with ME in the back UNTIL LUNTZ PUT HIM UP FRONT WHEN HE STARTED DEFENDING MCCAIN WHO WAS LUNTZ'S CHOICE FOR WINNER THAT NIGHT. When he says there is nothing wrong with McCain, that's my head just above his, (dark hair) showing my disgust. I had already expressed the opinion that McCain was mentally unstable WHICH I DID NOT FEEL BADLY ABOUT SINCE LUNTZ TOOK EVERY OPPORTUNITY TO SHOOT DOWN RON PAUL. Chuck admitted to me that he PARTICPATES IN THESE GROUPS ALL THE TIME.
Once again, credit to Chris for breaking this story, and then emailing me. I hope I didn't wake up too many OLFOD people when I phoned him back in the dead of night!

I'm glad this showed back up. I wanted to see it.
Way to go Frank!

Why Frank Putz and the Establishment Hates Ron Paul
Chuck Baldwin has written a very heart warming article on why the establishment hates Ron Paul. The RP Revolution Radio read the whole article online. Here is one excerpt:
"The Establishment (which includes Frank Putz) hates Ron Paul because his honesty and integrity expose the rest of them for the moral reprobates they are. Their own conscience cannot bear the sight of him. His very presence condemns them. Their personal greed and ambition cringe at the very thought of Ron Paul. If Dr. Paul became President, the Gig would be up! It would be Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday at Tombstone all over again. They know it, and they will fight like mad to keep their corrupt stranglehold on American politics." This is so true!

i know someone in the forum
they only let the "democratic caucus goers" speak about 3 people on the democratic side. so its not limited to the conservatives. im not posting my email here.
i know this because I signed up for the fox news thing @ university of des moines. I did not get in, but my coworker who gave me the link did get in and he was not allowed to speak about biden.
Im sure he would be interested in going on TV about it.
Jane - Thanks for all of your hard work!
Jane,
Just a quick note of thanks from someone who has noticed all of the hard work you've put in to get the best result possible in NH. Your efforts have energized the overall campaign and I always look forward to reading your posts on this site. Win or lose, I hope the campaign recognizes your contributions - maybe there's a job for you at the White House when this is all over?

So Where's the audio file?
This story is incomplete without the audio file Chris recorded. Where is it?
I don't watch Faux anymore.
Telling other people not to watch them either. Never watched much major news until Ron Paul.:)

Can we not worry about Luntz anymore?
Everyone knows, even himself, that it's an "art" to ask the right question to get the answer you want
I'm starting to get a headache from seeing the word "Luntz" over and over on the Daily Paul. Let's focus on Ron Paul rather than those who dislike him so much.

Aye
No need to harass jerks. Lets take the high ground. The more FOX does this sorta junk the better; it just makes them look like ignorant little children.
Yer right.
Luntz is a putz who should be kicked in the nutz by Herman Muntz(ter).

OH YEAH?
Well I have personal mission to expose this guy so when Chris gets done with this audio tape, we will have LUNTZ and it can't be covered up. All the other news outlets have already been notified. He just didn't want it on here yet.
If you read the post, you can see it on Chris's site, and read about how those people were NOT all Paul supporters. Chris had heard about my experience and wanted to see for himself. So he dressed nicely and got put in the front row (I had advised him that if he wore a suit they would choose him to be up front)
And then the three hours of fun began.
Luntz had the nerve to accuse him in the Google video of turning the dials this way and that....this is what they ASK you to do!
You get a nice meal from a great diner, $100, and supposedly a chance to voice your opinions.. But some won't get aired. And Chris is going to prove what I said.
As for repeat participants, it's the neglect of the focus group company to limit them. They can sign up and do this. That 'Chuck' guy told me he likes to do it. After all, you do get a nice meal, $100 and a chance to be on TV. So that's not totally Chuck's fault. Chris also spoke to Chuck like I did. (He's very talkative that guy, so he really had nothing to hide) Except they like to hear themselves on TV so they are easily manipulated. It's more Luntz taking advantage of human nature, than fraud by Chuck. I mean isn't that was the media does every single day? All they could talk about was Obama and Hillary and the rock star aspect of it, NOT ONE ISSUE is ever discussed in the race between those two! So long as the people don't demand better, they will be MANIPULATED...
I hope Chris will follow through on this -- God he was a trooper to do this the first thing landing in NH. He's my home-boy! :-)
Don't apologize
Jane, you have nothing to apologize for.
Sure, the focus should be on Ron Paul. We should concentrate our efforts on the election. But we're capable of walking and chewing gum at the same time.
"Independent" voices in the media, operating under the guise of reporting on public opinion, have to know there will be consequences if they act unethically.
Frank "The Fraud" Luntz is a truly despicable human being. If you want to shape opinion, there's nothing wrong with that. Get a job as a campaign staffer. Participate in the political process. Millions do it.
But pretending to be a pollster and then using that position to spew his own beliefs makes him a deceitful, unethical propagandist of the lowest order. He should be exposed, and I salute you for your work on this.

Luntz was just asked by Alan Combes about having the same people in focus groups.
Luntz admitted that sometimes he has the same people in different focus groups because they are constantly changing their minds.
Looks like Faux decided to try an preempt any kind of blowback from what was posted here.
Frank Luntz gets paid to manipulate people
WIKI: "Luntz has been accused of skewing research results to reflect more favorably on specific clients. In 1997, he was reprimanded by the American Assoc. for Public Opinion Research and in 2000 he was censured by the Nat. Council on Public Polls."
They haven't stopped any blowback before. What makes them think it will start working now.
It's pretty clear Fox News hires paid actors for their 'focus groups'.
They just addressed the fact
They just addressed the fact that they have the same people in the focus groups on H&C.
Saying something like "It's an antropological experiment" and we're "testing to see how people's opinions change" and other such BS.

What's the Penalty for Subverting the Political Process?
So what does Luntz deserve?
A Hanging?
What Luntz has now done is knowingly work to subvert the political process.
This is Treason.
Frank "Traitor to America" Luntz
He deserves a court trial by a jury of his peers, as specified in the US Constitution.
Frank Luntz and Fox News have committed fraud ...
if this is true. The Federal Election Commission and Federal Communication Commission should be notified by someone in the Ron Paul committee now. Pretty serious business in trying to slant an election.
TheKingIsComing
they did mention the focus group was from NH in Sept.
Well... I agree that it seems wierd to have the guy in both videos, but at least in the first focus group from September, Hannity does mention that the focus group is from New Hampshire--see the 55 second mark in the following video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYLVgMF9R9g&feature=related
I hadn't seen this before and assumed that both focus groups were presented as being from different states, but this is not so.
I still think Fox sucks and the whole system is a big manipulation, but FWIW here is that little factoid.
Johnny
The video you posted is
The video you posted is spliced together. So you can't assume all the clips are from a single source. Finding out the location of the "HC Channel 8" might be useful. Regardless, the fact that the same guy was used twice for polling should be setting off alarm bells.
FWIW
I am the poster of the original vid. I was with Chris and was there because I was waiting for him (we had rode together to Manchester.) I am certainly not the type to promote rudeness (or otherwise) and any of you who knows me should know that. That said, this is New Hampshire (Live Free or Die) and unless you are here you cannot imagine the "circus". Put that atmosphere together with the FOX exclusion and the despicableness of this character and it is quite easy to see this sort of thing happening. I had never heard of Luntz till recently and only learned of the Penn and Teller stunt last night. I was mystified when I started seeing effufrank showing up everywhere during my ride but it is no suprise that the phrase was said ONCE. In fact, what would have been surprising is if it hadn't been said. I would have been mortified if people had hurled the phrase multiple times but it seemed quite fitting for the end of this encounter.
That man is a professional manipulator, a perpetraitor of lies and deserves NO respect. As others have said, in another age tar and feathers would be in order and this scum would never have the balls to corrupt our political process as he does. I watched that bastard work his wily ways in front of my eyes and it is sad to see it has worked on some of the commentators here. The overall discussion was civil and the RP supporters were not the only ones there. The best news of this whole encounter was the local (well dressed) onlookers who asked afterward about the encounter, agreed wholeheartedly about the media and the unfairness of FOX, and asked alot of questions about Dr. Paul. They took lit and said they will look more into him and vote for him if they like what they see.
This is New Hampshire and unless you have been here you would not know how they feel about their State Motto, "Live Free or Die"
and F*ck you Frank!!!
so um... where's the video of the Luntz confrontation?
I read this whole thread and no link to that video. Or did I miss it?? Lots of others here seem to have seen it.

in response to devon
devon, Let me quote from one of your earlier posts.
"I wish all this Fox paranoia would stop. There is no centrally controlled anti-Paul bias at Fox." -Devon
Anyone with a pulse can discern there exists centrally controlled bias at Fox as well as others. There is plenty of evidence to indicate bias. Perhaps the video of a Fox news anchor wondering if she would get in "trouble" for commenting on Paul's debate exclusion. Or the memos from John Moody showing their efforts to "manage" the perception of the Iraq war?
A review of the facts shows there is a war being waged for control of information.

Ever wondered about the Polls
Luntz said that he does pay polling participants, but when asked how much, said "it varies." When I offered that I understood that $50 is the industry norm, he said that he'd paid New Hampshire participants "a bit more than that." "You do what you can," he said, to screen out professional respondents.

My frickin heart is breaking!
I think it is going to get worse before it gets better Frank.
I wouldn't do it myself because people like him crave attention, I mean could he have a worse hair piece, and he needs to feel like he has contributed something to humanity, something like, I don't know, SATAN!
OK just kidding about the Devil but he is evil still.

No conspiracy evident
The video complains that the focus group is not selected at random. If you take Statistics, you learn that the focus group is not supposed to be random. You have to carefully select the members for a focus group to select people that represent the larger population that you're trying to study. If you just pick people "randomly," they may not reflect that population. That fact that the same person is in a focus group twice is not scandalous. He may simply be a good example of the population that's being studied. In that case it would make sense to include him in several focus groups.
Fixing the numbers
QUOTE:"...If you take Statistics, you learn that the focus group is not supposed to be random..."
ROFL, you probably studied Mathematics in Uganda, no wait,...i am insulting Ugandans now. Another clear case example of STATE sponsered education.
"No visas for people from terrorist nations"
-- Ron Paul, presidential TV add on immigration.
Sounds right to me. But...
I took statistics in grad school about 10 years ago and remember that focus groups & random polling are two different things, as you describe.
But, obviously, any single person posing as a voter in two states has a serious credibility problem, whether in a focus group or by random polling. The presence of such a participant without explanation taints any resulting research. Especially for a focus group, since they usually are smaller than random samples -- with members hand-picked.
I believe you are incorrect
I disgree with Devon's claim - I posted a more detailed response if you scroll down below.
Except that Chuck was
Except that Chuck was supposedly an undecided Florida voter, and now he is an undecided NH voter. Which is why it is misleading. which is why Fox and friends ought to occupy the fringes of hell.

Representative samples are Random. Sample size can be an issue.
Sorry, but I have enough graduate stats for a Master's in that field
(but actually my degrees are biomedical),
and I do not agree with you at all.
Representative samples are random.
If you are wanting to describe the extreme tails of the distribution you need a larger sample.
*
However this point here is that the act is a fraud.
This is "Stage Magic".
"Chuck" is obviously a plant or stooge, an "actor", a poseur placed to create an illusion, a deception.
Frank is frankly not only a thug, he is an illusionist.
Selection
You don't select the sample in a random MANNER. You give out questionairres, etc, to make sure that the focus group participants meet the critieria of the population you're studying. If you just pick people at random, you're going to get people that don't vote, you're going to get children, people that are not American citizens, people that are not Republicans, too many senior citizens, too many females, and so on.
For example if you want a focus group to include the proportion of Americans without landlines, selecting people at "random" would probably not be a good idea. You need to specifically find people without landlines in order to include them in the focus group, to reflect the proportion in the population.
About Chuck, I highly doubt that he is some kind of plant. It would be too obvious since there is a video record. Why not just use two different people with the planted opinion in them in order to avoid detection? So, this is more conspiracy-mongering in my opinion.
Selection ???
Frank has previously admitted to changing words around to get the answer he wants causing the individual responding to think that he is asking an entirely different question.
We wouldnt want to give a questionaire to any citizen that wouldnt fit the focus group Mr.Luntz desires. And by giving out a questionaire to supposedly choose his focus group he could monitor exactly who and what he needs to give the appearance of his main focus. Right !!!
I believe sir this is called DECEPTION !
I stopped in at a hotel to stay overnight and requested a nonsmoking room. After receiving my room key I went to the assigned room and noticed just below the peep hole there was a sign that said "NO SMOKING". I then entered the key card, turned the knob and opened the door. Before I could swing the door open I noticed a smell of cigarettes. I looked up and sure enough there was a cloud of smoke. I closed the door and went to the front desk and approached the manager on call. I explained my situation regarding the no smoking request. He then replied,"that couldnt be possible do to the fact that particular room was a no smoking room and there is a no smoking sign on the door. I asked him to accompany me to the room. The story ended as you might expect, he was nonapologetic and so I took my business elsewhere.
My point is, no matter how much evidence you put before closed minds they at times will still deny the evil, deception, lies, etc. because that is all they know. That could very well be the case here. And it sounds like Mr. or Mrs. Devon might be one of those individuals. Have a good day !
2+2 = 5 Ignorance is

Ignorance is Strength.
(1984 refrences) :)
You're making a leap
Just because Luntz showed that you can guide a person to get the answer you want, that doesn't mean he does it. That appeared to me to be just for educational purposes - to show that we should be suspicious of polls. If he was that sleazy, why would he advertise that he could do that? Think about it. Every pollster can do this. Why single out Luntz as doing it just because he revealed that it could be done?
He may well be doing something shady, but there is no evidence of it. So why demonize the guy? Try to be more reasonable. I know I'm in the minority here, but it's because I don't allow myself to get sucked up in all the mass hysteria from so many in the Paul camp.
Leap...
...Mr. Clinton never had sex with that woman ....and the Bush administration has no personal interest in the Iraq war. You've already been sucked up by somthing else.
