I think he did an awesome job getting the message out, hitting some talking points, and appealing to voters. Whatever shortcomings were there were more than equalized by hitting it out of the park with his highlight on McCain's comment.
But perhaps, because she prefaced it with how much people didn't think those topics were realistic was why he went into his realistic/unrealistic speech.
It was a very good question though and I'd like to see him answer it.
I thought he answered it, sort of.
He could have simply said "by winning" then went in to his consensus building speech.
______________
"Resistance need not be violent, but the civil disobedience that might be required involves confrontation with the state and invites possible imprisonment." - Ron Paul
Ron Paul needs to make sure he answers the questions he is asked. The one asked by the reporter about how he will be able to bring people together with his message of abolishing the income tax and returning to a gold standard when so many seem to believe it is unrealistic was a very important question, and unfortunately Ron Paul did not answer it. He talked about how tons of people, particularly the young ones, are responding to his message and how there is more support than what is ackowledged, which is fine, but he did not address the specific question and thus missed a very important opportunity to begin making a clearer, stronger case for himself as to not only what he stands for but for the kinds of plans he has prepared to bring those in Washington together to make it happen.
Ron Paul really needs to get a little bit more aggressive at this point: not ugly, but aggressive. He needs to be more aggressive and assertive during debates like the ABC/Facebook debate held recently. He was overshadowed and talked over by the other candidates, which made him look weak and like a non-factor despite the wonderful points he made to point out the inconsistencies of the other candidates claims and positions.
Dr. Ron also needs to make his responses more succint during interviews if he wishes to be more effective. He needs to be able at this point to state both his position on an issue and how he plans to bring about change to meet his goals concerning the issue when this information is asked. He can then back up his proposed action by explaining the crucial philosophical underpinnings, but in a soundbite world he drastically needs to improve his strategy, or else his message will not reach the people it can reach that might not have an understanding of his message.
I noticed the "wobbly voice," too, and agree that the media bias is getting ridiculous.
However, I think this reporter did Ron Paul a favor: asking a question that is likely on the minds of many undecided "mainstream" voters. She may have been unfair in her characterization of his positions, but they are revolutionary and outside many legislators' comfort zone of status quo incrementalism. Given that chasm, it seems only fair to wonder how he intends to bridge the divide.
Interestingly, I think he was on his way to an answer: popular support for Dr. Paul's ideas will pressure congress to find ways to get things through. Look at how some other candidates' have already taken their cues and co-opted some of Dr Paul's language/ideas.
The other thing to consider is that even Dr. Paul acknowledges a need for transition from the old way to the new way (it won't happen overnight). Given this, does he have a tactical idea for getting from point A to B to Z? Success stories from his legislative record of coalition building could help make the case.
Perhaps Dr. Paul should have said, during the ABC debate: “Ms. Bhutto’s assassination has not yet been determined to be a lone act of terrorism, and Musharraf's government may be implicated.”
What is this crap - they say things like "a lot of financial analysts think it's impractical" to get rid of the income tax - that "you're sort of out there, alone in the wilderness" - what in the hell kind of comments are that? Would you say "alone in the wilderness" to Rudy being the only candidate who's on his third wife?
That was great. I was wondering how that information was going to get out to the public. I'm relieved to see CNN competing with Fox. I was afraid they were so united behind the scenes that this wouldn't happen. It's building.
Listen to these three consecutive times where Ron Paul has appeared on CNN and had “wobbly voice” sound problems. The first video I noticed this on I thought it was probably coincidental, being some kind of technical problem. What stood out about it though was that this only occurred when Ron Paul was speaking, it wasn’t present in the interview with Joe Biden or with the CNN presenter’s segments, both before and after Ron Paul’s parts. Here’s the first video, Paul comes in after the interview with Joe Biden:
After I saw this “wobbly voice” sound problem reoccur twice then I became suspicious that CNN may have been deliberately trying to make Ron Paul sound strange and unattractive to the audience. Here’s the second video with an interview between Ron Paul and a woman in the CNN studio, notice that the female presenter’s audio feed is normal while only Ron Paul’s is suffering from exactly the same “wobbly voice technicality” as in the first video:
Here in the third video we can hear exactly same sound problem again, with the interviewer and Ron Paul both sharing the same audio feed and so both having their voices distorted:
WHY does this “sound problem” seem to follow Ron Paul around when he’s on CNN? I am not condemning CNN as a whole here as the Wolf Blitzer appearances have been fantastic and very fair. But this does seem to be a legitimate concern regardless considering the mainstream media’s (and the establishment who it represents) clear bias against Ron Paul and desperation to sideline him.
It was a good interview in terms of getting his message out, but he didn't answer her question about concerns over his ability to work with others.
Ron Paul is an awesome salesmen for the message of liberty. Now he needs to work on the sale of himself as being the right person to take us in that direction.
I'm also not clear about how he could have already taped the Leno thing. I thought that was taped the same afternoon as the show is aired.
He needs to focus on answering that sort of question to be sure to connect squarely with the questions people are going to have. He's never been an executive official, so it's doubly important as he has no track record in that regard. That's probably his biggest legitimate shortcoming and he'll doubtless be challenged on it. He's got the policy side nailed down already, which is why we do so well in the debates. :-)

National polls cannot compare with Iowa's caucus and NH's primary. Individually maybe they are not such a big deal but together, certainly. You can play the Guiliani didn't compete card once, but not twice. When the results are so favorable to Ron Paul in NH, media will not be able to downplay Ron Paul as not in the top 5 anymore.
he should have gotten higher and he will in the next states. By the way, after reading from those who were at the Iowa caucus, I now feel very confident that Ron Paul will clean up on the delegate situation there. They said the vote tally was only a straw poll for the benefit of the media and the real action occured during the delegate nominations at which time most of the voters had already left and RP supporters became a shoe-in to those positions. I am dying to know what happened in the Huckster counties there.
CNN is doing a MUCH better job than Faux ... Comparatively
But, as I watched CNN Headline News this morning, they completely cut Dr. Paul out. They took scenes from the Faux and ABC debates to do it. Gave polls results for NH that left Paul out.
This right after "Ooh, evil Iran, they swerved their boats and taunted us on the radio". What an obvious attempt to sway voters.
So, remember, all major media outlets are biased. But praise them when they do good.
And above all, be polite. If you are angry, just stand, say "Vote for Ron Paul". Let them walk around you.
I was once mis-informed and being led around by my ignorance, most of us were. I voted for Bush, twice! I am not proud of that, to say the least. I was also a :ditto head" for Rush. My circle of friends and family were very surprised at my change. My Dad still can't understand how I can bash O'Rielly as hard as I do, we talked about him many many times.
I wish this interview could reach every American out there! I hope CNN shows it in prime time.
I'll also comment here about Judge Napolitano. Napolitano is about the only redeeming factor Fox News has, as far as staff goes. I love that guys stance on the constitution and his blazingly fantastic speech he made, months ago, in introducing Ron Paul at a Libertarian dinner. I have evn read his books. The thing is, Anthony Napolitano is just another talking head that talks the talk, but will not walk the walk. His reason is that he just signed a new contract with Fox. Ummmm...Hellloooo...Does anyone else see the hypocrisy of this? If Napolitano was so hell bent on the constitution and what he writes in his books, he would be an important and outspoken advocate for Ron Paul. I always told my kids, "No matter what kind of fish you think you are, if you swim with sharks, you're a shark!" (No offense intended to sharks, I think they get a bad rap).
I think the American people are starting to wake up, slowly, but they are. It's up to ALL of us to educate and inform. To this day, I still thank the guy that was persistent with me on Ron Paul and his message.
That's the Ron Paul that is going to sway the voters. He looked very good physically and came across as very confident and energizing.
I loved the way he said it looked like he didn't miss much at the Fox forum with them nitpicking whether or not they raised taxes ten years ago. It was also great to see him bring up the McCain 100 years in Iraq bit.
It's amazing how fresh he looked after all the traveling. It sounds like he taped the show last night and will be coming back to NH today. I don't know how these candidates do it.
Must see this hilarious video!!
Hilarious video about FOX:

Not all challenges by the media are bad.

Idea to help message
Perhaps Dr. Paul should have said, during the ABC debate: “Ms. Bhutto’s assassination has not yet been determined to be a lone act of terrorism, and Musharraf's government may be implicated.”
Even CNN can't help marginalizing Paul

Would you say "alone in the wilderness" to Rudy being the only candidate who's on his third wife?
He even got to mention McCain's 100 Year War (Iraq??!??)
That was great. I was wondering how that information was going to get out to the public. I'm relieved to see CNN competing with Fox. I was afraid they were so united behind the scenes that this wouldn't happen. It's building.
RP's voice is distorted in that video!
CNN DISTORTING RON PAUL’S VOICE!!

"Dont vote Ron Paul"
I also heard "Don't vote Ron Paul" played barely audible throughout the interview.
Good message but didn't answer the question.

Very nice interview
Great job, Ron! And man was that interviewer cute. :) Oh, and very fair.
Agreed Bob!
She was quite a fox. :) Elegant, graceful, with well-formed, symmetrical features and an alluring charm to boot! Looks like Ron enjoyed himself, too!
CNN
OK I used to be a FOX guy (yea I know..) But CNN is giving Ron Paul a real fair shake.
