RP Supporters???
Should we assume that these are RP supporters? I am one of the older supporters in our Meet-Up Group where the majority are under 30 years of age. We are a large group, and I am continually amazed at the maturity and respect shown by these young men and women. I think we should not point fingers at these supporters, but rather ask the question "who gains the most from disruptive actions attributed to the RP camp?" They can't find any dirt on our candidate, so the RP rEVOLution groups are going to be targeted on an ever-increasing scale. I will bet on that!!!

chalk is good
Chalk every street corner in your town, suburb, city, metropolis... Thousands of people stand there every day, waiting for the "Walk" sign. Looking down and seeing "www.ronpaul2008.com" on the sidewalk (at every corner) makes them think, at least.
"Cheers for liberty, my man."

Marking
RP on public property (not highway signs of course) is like marking Z for Zorro, or V in the Vendetta movie. Us freedom fighters need to mark our territory!

Whoahhhh calm down !
One apology is enough we don't need to bombard this poor man with phone calls, he'll probably have you arrested for harassment...I would. People do stupid things, we gotta accept it and move on. We can't be spending are precious time chasing after this small number of people apologizing for every stupid little thing somebody does or we'll never get anything done.
A Better 2moro !
STAGED IS PROBABL MORE ACCURATE
It makes sense that they would do this perfect evidence is the fist line i gleaned from a post earlier in this thread. And it said this "Im an older voter and this turns me off" (nothing bad meant to the person who said that just using it as the closest evidence of a successful subversion). We who support Ron do so because we are informed, It does not make sense we would go through all this work and all of the sudden turn into Neanderthals. Be aware this is somethying that is basically free and can have large negative effects. What would be nice to see maybe the local meetup group there could voice there dissaproval of the act and maybe even offer to help clean it up. These people are ready to be an soulless puppet Bush clone. And they are probably willing to do just about anything to keep the current direction of the country going exactly the same. Some paint and vandalism isnt much of a sleep loser when they think US casualties is perfectly acceptable.
Staged, methinks
Cui bono? comes to mind.
For those interested in
For those interested in contacting the Benton County Administration with your sympathies, regrets, etc., here is their phone number:
479-271-1000
From there, you can ask to speak to Mr. Mike McGinnis, the County maintenance building manager. I will update this post as need be with further contact information for those interested.
For now, I sent a letter to the editor:
Dear citizens of Benton County, Arkansas:
I am a Ron Paul supporter and I am deeply concerned about the vandalism reportedly carried out by my fellows. Even though it was written in chalk, the principle remains the same. Dr. Paul is a strong advocate of property rights, and those Paul supporters did more harm than good with their vandalism.
I wish all good citizens of Benton County to know that these acts are not the norm, nor are they condoned by the vast majority of Dr. Paul's supporters. In fact, most, like myself, are cognizant enough to realize that these acts cause more harm than good.
Again, my sincerest apologies on behalf of all Ron Paul supporters for the actions carried out by a select minority.
Sincerely,

Just to add, show the
Just to add, show the administration and the people of Benton County that we are more civil than that!
Could've been staged
No signs on county property, ok, no biggie. But a different campaign supporter could've easily chalked the wall to make it 'look' like a Ron Paul supporter did it.
2010, we put our people in Congress
2012, we want our country back
"We've been removing Ron
I love it.. these guys have no idea that ALOT of young people, including myself at 19, support Dr. Paul.
Blowback
This is minor compaired to what we will have leading up to novermber. Americans are hurting and it will get alot worse than this. The next President will have a tsunami of econimic conditions to deal with along with the clusterfuck overseas. Only Ron Paul has the correct answers.
Brother????
You are so right.....who cares if someone writes RP 2008 with Chalk?? Come on. Spray Paint...I would disagree with, but sidewalk chalk come on. This is not news. Give me some Chalk...lets go!
Good Blowback
Unintended consequences are not always bad ones.
The article clearly shifts the blame to some idiot that did it and not Ron Paul. Besides, it was chalk... anyone reading that is going to think "not a big deal" to themselves.
And it very effectivly gets out "Who is Ron Paul" and "ronpaul2008.com"
If I didn't know who he was, I'd probably type that into my browswer right as I was reading it to find out who he was.
Ron Paul 2008
STOP THIS POST!!!!!!
It was Written in CHALK!! Come on....this is harmless. CHALK people......it washes off and blows away!!!!!!! Read the entire article before you post...... OMG they used sidewalk chalk to express the truth. I actually commend these people for doing this...no matter what you people say. I am 41, and I use the sidewalk chalk to promote RP everyday!!!!! It rains..and it is gone...no harm done. Also, use the window stuff from Walmart on your back window of your car.....gets lots of positive honks. Wipes of in seconds!!
Lets get his email addy or real world addy
and send him tons of apology letter or flowers or something. He'll be stunned and we may have a new recruit.
I'm working on this. I was

Ron Paul 2008
Can't control grassroots
Paul is not going to try and control grassroots efforts, nor could he hope to stop every idiot who does stuff like this.
If it's not from official campaign, don't worry about it.
The media is going to portray Paul negatively even if Paul himself saved a whole army of endangered people.
Get use to it.

Wrong our message has principles
We can only maintain Liberty with moral responsibility
I just dont see
this coming from a true Ron Paul supporter of legal voting age. Sabotage could easily be blamed here. Judging from the areas hit they we're definitely youngsters. V for Vendetta... the little girl in glasses.. when you saw her tagging that wall did you say.." Man thats really gonna screw up Vendetta's Campaign!" Maybe when we catch em we can try them as adults...Give em the chair! **rolls eyes** Also keep in mind who all uses Arkansas as their stomping grounds. More than one person in this race. A smear piece coming out of Arkansas is hardly going to hurt the campaign.

Once in the Paul camp...
It's almost impossible to dislodge a voter on the account of Dr. Paul.
The solution oriented message is that strong. Other candidate's support is paper thin and easily changeable. Ron Paul represents the majority opinion of the country on just about every major issue: Government is too strong, Lower Taxes, Stop Inflation, Parents Rights over Administrator's Priviledges, Stop funding every country in the world with my money, Constitution first, Live and Let Live on Social Issues, get Government out of your life, Against Iraq, For a Border Fence, And with a cursory dig of his record, you know he means it. Tough to unsell that once sold.
So if I were an opposition specialist, I would dislodge the supporter by attacking with another "supporter." Give the supporters a bad rap, and the undecided won't want to be associated with a winning message on the account of "guilt by association." That's what's happening here.

Could be
Could be. And more than one can play that game.
I say again: Anyone who can't resist the urge to use chalk should write somebody else's name.
Actual spray paint though,
Actual spray paint though, that's a different matter right?
Anyone who can't resist the urge
"Anyone who can't resist the urge"
Selective use of facts does introduce distortions.
I don't believe it's RP supporters
It looks like dirty campaign tricks to me, being brought to us by people who HATE Ron Paul, HATE his supporters. The same people who write "Mickey Mouse" on a cometitor's petition for ballot access. People who KNOW they can't win unless they also work harder to defeat their competition with dirty tricks that "You can't proove". I've met allot of Ron Paul supporters and I'm sorry, but what you discribe is NOT the people I'm meeting supporting Ron Paul, and I happen to like ALL the Ron Paul people I meet. ALL of them. I wish we could STOP hating and accusing each other for crimes against the campaign. We have REAL enemies and it's NOT each other. Maybe the song, RESPECT YOURSELF should be a theme song for this campaign to remind US?
It's difficult to determine
It's difficult to determine, and the result is the same.
Based on all the: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and: ALL CAPS, I expect there are at least a few naive young bad actors among the fringe of Ron Paul supporters.
What do you propose?
Mount a counter-offensive by posing as supporters of other campaigns?
I think time would be better spent helping shape the message.
A kid with chalk (not spray
A kid with chalk (not spray paint) is not a big deal.
Want to use "only" chalk? Write somebody else's name.
You want to use "only" chalk? Write somebody else's name.
You want to shout at a former US President about "9/11 was an Inside job"? Be sure you're carrying somebody else's sign.
Cut this crap out NOW, or the game is over.
It only REINFORCES the perception of the possible validity of the Kirchick smear.
"madddd!!!!!!!!" may have attracted the "early adopters" but it will not attract more people into the voting booths.
This reeks of, 'the supporters are "NOT READY for Prime Time" and thus, by association, the candidate isn't either.'
Yea I can really see Wolf
Yea I can really see Wolf Blitzer turning to RP and saying "Well Ron, I'm afraid we've had reports that a kid drew your name in chalk on a wall, hate to break it to you pal but you’re not ready for ‘Prime Time’ anymore, no more Situation Room for you and your ‘chalk terrorist’ supporters".
Here's a very astute comment
Here's a very astute comment from the L.A. times article, "Ron Paul - Loser Again"
"Very few women and minorities support him. His supporters are diverse in class, political parties, etc, but they all seem to be young, white guys. You're not going to draw support from the masses by having that demographic as your support base. A lot of his supporters are over-zealous, domineering, and annoying. When most people experience that, it drives them away."
"astute" so you're saying
"astute" so you're saying you agree with that shill's hit piece that the Ron Paul Revolution is made up of entirely "young, white guys"? What kind of ridiculous garbage is that? And then there’s this: "When most people experience that, it drives them away." - yea don't get passionate about your country or a candidate and want to really effect change using enthused honest and peaceful means, that only "drives people away". "Astute"? Who's side are you on here?
Grannie Warriors?
Did you see the thread on DP asking for ages? This is NOT a young male group here, nor were 4 of the 5 Meetup groups I attended. Even on Daily Paul, we have perhaps more posts from Jane the Nystrom!
I'm glad Ron Paul does not feel the way you do. He accepted money from a White Supremist. People began calling Dr Paul a RACIST and said he should give the money back. Buyt Ron Paul said, "I'm not a racist", and I'm keeping the money to do something GOOD".
I believe Dr Paul understands he has a very diverse group here and he is not denoucing and accussing his supporters of sabotaging his campaign. He would repeatedly say, "Dessent is sometimes necessary, like MLK, but if you break the law, you risk legal consequences. Now me, well, I decided to do it another way and that's why I ran for congress."
Any other presidential candidates saying this? No They are saying, "The Paul Wacko is messing things up, stop him. To do that we must attack his supporters". THAT is what is going on.
and the supporters need to
and the supporters need to be smart enough not to play into the oppositions trap! KILL THEM WITH KINDNESS!

It was just chalk graffiti.
It was just chalk graffiti. Chalk washes away with the rain. I kind of like it.
=)

"Google Ron Paul -- Freedom
"Google Ron Paul -- Freedom * Peace *Prosperity" written in chalk on public sidewalks seems reasonable to me. Cheap. Environmentally safe. Very temporary.
The only thing I disagree with is they did it on private property.
I'm 43, btw... so yes, I can vote.
=)

Are you even old enough to vote?
Are you even old enough to vote?
Are you too old to vote,
Are you too old to vote, like some grumpy old grandpa or something "those kids gaddamit.. ahh mie spine". Lighten up, if a young kid feels strongly enough about politics let alone RP to do that then how can you condemn it, at least that kid is doing something real and not wasting time being hypnotised by video games or on drugs. And it was chalk for crying out loud...
Its great to see younger
Its great to see younger people interested and involved. The point is If youd like to be successful in your promoting of this great man it takes winning over votes and getting people to shake of years of brainwashing. And just like the forcing of a foreign country to submit to yer ways through force will never happen.
That question was not asked of you

I wonder
How many delegates has this kind of activity gotten us so far ??
Romney
supporters vote 100 time in a straw poll, knock peoples signs out of their hands and stand on them.
Hillary's people kontrol, and count the votes.
Hucks people kill brown people for Jayyssuuss,
And ya'll want to knock the angry villager routine??????
The angry villagers have got Ron 20 million dollars and the 4th amount of votes in this primary.
Quit griping and get madddd!!!!!!!!
but get mad smartly! there
but get mad smartly! there is more then 1 way to skin a cat!

Can't comb a hurricane
When I see Ron Paul signs that look like they were made by fourth graders, and stickers on public property, and those phony twenty dollar bills on the ground, and red-faced people screaming in megaphones, and cars with totally over-the-top Ron Paul stuff scribbled all over them, and graffiti (even if it IS with that chalk that DOESN'T wash off all surfaces easily), I cringe.
I want all Ron Paul supporters to behave in a way that doesn't scare new people off. The more our movement looks like a civil disturbance, the more people are going to buy into the "kook" label. Most people don't WANT civil disturbance. In fact, my Father emailed me just yesterday saying that he can't support Ron Paul anymore because there are 9/11 Truthers among his supporters. It took me months to get my Dad to let go of the world empire and support Ron Paul. Once he cools off I think I can get him to see reason. But the impression we make as supporters have an effect on the movement. We should be presenting an image to people that makes them feel safe to join us. People want the President to have dignity and wisdom. Painting "Fox Sucks, vote Ron Paul" on the sidewalk presents the opposite image.
However, there isn't anything you or I can do about policing the movement. Ron Paul attracts all kinds of people under the banner of freedom. And they will show their love and their concern and their commitment in a variety of ways, some palatable to the majority of the public and some disturbing, depending on their character. It's a force of nature.
So now I just shake my head and remind myself that sometimes love isn't pretty. Hahahahahaha!
Peace
I Understand Your Point -- But
First of all I really like your subject line //
You kinda suggest that things might be better, and yes they could -- I completely and sincerely agree with that.
But the idea that folks are taking the time to create banners (homemade) and bring their voice above a whisper as regards RON PAUL (even those folks who do so with much passion behind their tone) // that's a good thing!
It's the political correct mentality in this country that has us at ends with each other over the most silly things.
And then there's the gangster element working out there who takes things much more serious and have done nothing but harm our wonderful country in the name of national security -- that's the folks I find troubling. Not the RON PAUL supporters.
No offense intended.
Vote RON PAUL 2008
Vote RON PAUL 2008
Yes . . . and no
The love and energy of the grass roots has made this whole miracle possible. Including the love and energy that takes the form of homemade signs and shouting. And really this is academic because nothing I say - or anyone other than maybe RP says - is going to change this situation at all. BUT - if we want RP to be accepted as a mainstream candidate, his supporters need to present themselves as mainstream citizens. This is especially true in the Republican party. For MANY Republicans, the only street demonstrations they have ever seen have been from the "other side". And the only graffiti they have ever seen has been the work of thugs and miscreant kids. It is very dangerous for us to use these same techniques of communication.
Now I am out on the street corner with a big sign at nearly every local meetup event because I think we HAVE to do that. But it is still a less-than-ideal method and we need to make it as respectable and non-threatening as possible. I dress nicely and make my signs as neat as possible. And still I think we scare people.
As for graffiti and those damnable fake twenty dollar bills and the signs that look like the signs from the New Orleans roof tops, well, I appreciate the motivation but I don't think it helps the cause. But, like I said, I ain't going to get my undies in a bunch about it because there is nothing I can do to stop it. Hahahahaha!
