FoxNews / SC GOP Debate Tonight - 9PM ET Updated
Myrtle Beach Convention Center, Myrtle Beach, SC
9:00 PM ET
Check local listings for stations & times in your area. Go Ron Paul!!!
Come back here to chat / discuss.
(note: for complicated technical reasons, I had to repost this. The original post, with comments is still here: http://www.dailypaul.com/...)
output

I Don't Believe RP is a Racist....
...but allowing this kind of rhetoric to be written and published on a newsletter baring his name does not bode well for someone seeking the office of chief executive. Reagan was criticised for his inability to employ a hands-on approach to his organization and it hurt him at the time, although his place in history has been established despite these criticisms. I hope Ron Paul's message does not die with this campaign, which is severely damaged by these old newsletters.
In perspective...
I agree these newsletters coming up again isn't the best thing but I think you are seriously over-estimating the situation. Think about it... this is all they have on Dr. Paul without resorting to outright lies (which will come next I'm sure). With the entire might of the accumulated corruption in America against us these newsletters are, in my opinion, the least of our problems. "Freedom IS a powerful message."
Debate quiz
1)Who is Sulzberger?
2)Who is Buffett?
3)Who is Zell?
4)Who is Murdoch?
Answers below.
I am eternally hopeful and pray that some day the media will make a mistake like they did in the first two debates and treat Dr. Paul fairly.
Why should they?
He represents the end of them. Everything they have built, everything they have spent a lifetime trying to create Dr. Paul will bring to an end.
I know you watch TV and think it is real. I understand that this is a powerful reality with the messages coming through to you since you were a child. But you have to let go of this "Dr. Paul is getting screwed angle and stick with the truth."
If by some ridiculous long shot chance the Doc can become a top three contender. If, out of the blue, some Hollywood miracle gets him close to the top they will hammer him even worse than they are now.
They think they have him where they want him.
They are in denial.
The fire is lit. Freedom is awake and the controlling of Dr. Paul's media coverage is MAKING IT STRONGER.
Please understand this. Why are you waiting for Dr. Paul to rescue us from these a$#holes?
Why are we waiting for him to get elected? Is this time in our history "getting ready" to fight for freedom time?
Please start fighting now. Please. The debates and the newspapers are going to be an eternal screwjob.
It is a miracle that Dr. Paul is even in the debates and the newspapers.
YOU CAN START FIGHTING FOR YOUR FREEDOM NOW.
Stop waiting for a "man" to come along and save you from what you have let happen the last 20 years. IT IS OUR FAULT THAT WE ARE IN THIS PREDICAMENT.
It is most certainly NOT the fault of Dr. Paul who has spent his life trying to stop these people.
Now it is time to get out of it. The doc is doing the best he can against ridiculous odds, stop sitting there and watching him and get out there and fight.
He is setting the example.
Politely, gracefully and repeatedly 'TELL THE TRUTH TO EVERYONE YOU MEET.
Waiting for Dr. Paul to do this and Dr. Paul to do that is bullshit and it won't work. What to do? Secure the vote in your damn town and do it now. This is where the fight is now, so go to where the fight is now and leave the media listed below out of it. They are not going to change.
QUIZ ANSWERS
1) New York Times
2)Washington Post
3)Chicago Tribune and LA Times
4)Fox News and dozens of newspapers all over the world
You want these guys to change? You are more damn delusional than they are.
We want it more than they do.

Hello all,
The Fox News pseudo focus group really irritated me. So much that aside from debates, I've decided to not watch FoxNews at all.
I am an IT freelancer and I was thinking we should launch a Fox News boycott through the web that could actually gather democrats and republicans.
The site could also report any media bias from different networks. People could also give their opinion and take about the story and the spin on it. I know some media watch sites exist but not sure with some interaction with users.
I was also thinking of a similar initiative for government institutions so people can freely publish story about wrongdoings of their local administrations or representatives.
If anyone is interested in those ideas, just shoot me an email at o_at_kojilab.com
REAL NETWORK NEWS, or "RNN" could be one solution
I've been thinking about this for a long time. EWTN, a Catholic broadcasting station, with a little Nun started this great station, Sister Angelica.
IF she can do it, why can't the RON PAUL REVOLUTIONARIES do it. I will check into how they set up EWTN. I would imagine it is run on donations, but I don't see why we all *collectively* couldn't get this accomplished.
One thing about us is we are BIG thinkers, right? And, it would definitely be a way we could get our message out to the masses.
Let me know what you all think!

Is it just me, or
Is it just me, or did anyone else notice how many "softballs" they served "Fraud" Thompson? Every question and response seemed too good...and he called out "Hucklebee" on his tobacoo ban as earlier suggested on this forum? Ron still OWNED them last night!
RP campaign addition?
I can't take credit for this as I also read this on another thread but I think the campaign should hire a staffer to do nothing but monitor and work on relations between the official campaign and these types of websites.
DITTO....plus the NASA Switch-Hitting Theory
Not much else to comment on that....except NASA has had a "switch-hitting" theory which says when people are trying to solve a problem, for exampleon how to INCREASE EFFECTIVENESS OF CAMPAIGN ADS, they would all go into a room with a chalk board.
Next, they are instructed to begin coming up with ANY ideas, and that ALL IDEAS are written down, and that NO NEGATIVE comments would be accepted during this brainstorming time.
The idea was to get as MANY IDEAS AS they possibly could get out, and to do it in a way so as NOT to stiffle the flow of creative imagination. But, we are nearing the end, aren't we with Super Tuesday? I just don't think there may be enough time now to really change ads.
We might have time, but only HEADQUARTERS knows the details of this. It might not be too late to alter an ad that is in place to run. They might be able to do that.
We can email them our ideas, no problem, and I encourage everyone to do that, especially if you have something really good to say that would really help.
C-SPAN Reports FOX Has a "New" Poll Out This Morning
CONTRARY to what you saw LIVE last night following the South Carolina Debate whereby the Voters Texted-In their votes and Ron Paul WON by 33% vs 18% (Thompson and Huckabee tied), everyone else polled lower ----
FOX, according to C-SPAN has a "new" Poll out this morning putting John McCain in the Lead, followed by Thompson and Hucabee. and, oh yeah, No mention whatsover of Ron Paul.
I guess we all just cannot believe our lying eyes, right?
Last night was just a figment of our imaginations? Didn't really happen? At least according to the Spin Doctors at FOX, it didn't.
IF this isn't absolutely CLEAR evidence of the Mind Control that these Neo-Con Owned Media want to exert on the masses, what is? (oh yeah, I forgot, Frank Luntz is. .)
They have become so Incredibly Obvious and Transparent in there Bold-Faced LYING to the Public.
The Washington Journal call-in program had everyone, including Democrats, talking about Ron Paul. Their guest speaker was obviously irritated and uncomfortable, trying to belittle RP and actually stated that "every election has had their Ron Pauls, for example Ross Perot and Ralph Nader."
Fellow supporters, IF the eyes of the nation are not opened to the travesty of Fox News Channel and all of the New York based mass media trying to pull a fast one on the people of this country by Denying what Ron Pauls movement is Really all about --- we stand to lose something far, far more important than two skyscrapers --- We WILL Loose OUR Democracy and its Life-Giving Constitution.
Stay strong, Steady, Financially Viable -- and Get the Word Out.
As Doctor Paul said yesterday: "Onward!"
Seems like one of the big Newspapers would call Fox on the fraud
as far as the text vote last night. It clearly showed Paul as the winner. These people are so arrogant in the media. They are all biased. None give Paul credit for what is happening. Just remember Perot cost Bush the vote and the tried to degragate him as well. People want Change, but none of the current idiots are going to change anything.
Start with your family and friends. Educate the ones you know!

RP and Debates
While Ron has all the facts correct and easily points out the irony of our foreign policy, for example, he just doesn't come off as presidential and that is hurting him. His mannerisms and presentation style don't bother me, but I think the public who doesn't know him or his message are put off. He is usually all negative and speaks fast, etc. For his and our sake I suggest getting coaching for speaking. I want him elected by people don't take him and his message seriously and I suggest this is why.
RE: RP and Debates comment
I think you do have a point, but it goes beyond that. Dr. Paul has and is NOW listening to our advice (read his letter to us on his website he just posted). What you need to understand, though, is that the pressure is SO ENORMOUS when you are literally & vehemently HATED by the interviewers and HATED by the stage candidates. THINK how you would react.
What is truly a MARVEL to me is how well the Media treats Obama, in comparison to Dr. Paul. They never mention any worries about Obama at all. Amanpoor goes to Kenya to talk about his background and they go on and on for hours in the afternoon just GUSHING over him. It's shocking and grotesquely unfair, not to mention stupid.
Last night, Ron Paul did amazingly well. I gave him an "A-" when considering the ANTAGONISTIC atmosphere he was in. Excellent job. Overall, he came off well, and in some responses quite presidential.
Just think how "Presidential" and what an "air of confidence" he would exude, if he would have been treated with RESPECT at every debate.
I saw a spark in Dr. Paul last night----HE CAME OUT FIGHTING
And, when he gets angry, he does his best. There is NO doubt about that.
And, did you catch his solution of "putting our boys from Iraq on our border"??
THAT is the real killer message that solves those 70% of Americans' problem about illegal immigration....and the war.
Dr. Paul can beat the Democrats. There is NO doubt about that.
He is "negative", because they are constantly putting him on the defensive. What about Carl Cameron crap-head's question, or statement on "electibility". He said, "Do you have any sir?" How off-putting is that?
I mean, there are a million things Dr. Paul could have said, IF HE COULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SPEAK LONGER....I'm sure he would have mentioned he had more donations than any othere candidate standing on the stage, etc. etc.
But, what I see is a need for a better campaign manager perhaps, and also a better advertising manager, although the last couple of ads have been much better, there is still room for improvement. I've given them my ideas on ads, but it's been all to no avail.
One idea was using a slogan at the beginning and end of each and every TV or Radio commercial "Ron Paul is our ONLY choice", and to use the same theme music, such as "Rocky" in the background, or something similar in EVERY TV & Radio ad...all to develop consistency and "name imprinting" in the minds of the public. The message could vary per state.
But, the BIG MESSAGE is----
He will BRING OUR TROOPS HOME and put them on our borders to STOP ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION.
Ya think? No other candidate or Democrats has that solution!!
Good idea...
Although I think "Eye of the Tiger" isn't the best choice for a song I do agree with your ideas on the commercials. He needs to stop running political ads that look like everybody elses. Or at least put out some alternatives... I truly think that something like the Lego video would be a good idea. One of my main points when talking about Ron Paul to others is convincing them he's not just like every other politician... the ads need to start reflecting that.

Take poll @ charlotte.com
same debate???
Did you watch the same debate as I did??? This man is heckled and checkled his whole time and still has the presence to speak and tell the truth....they try to make him look less presidential...and I would hope the american people can see through the rhetoric...see it for what it is....the one to get rid of....they try and try...but I pray they won't succeed
I agree ggb45601
He looked like a head coach telling the team the facts. We don't need the quarterback jock homecoming king... we need the pro-bowl coach. He isn't going to be pretty! He isn't going to be tall. He is going to be smart and whip you into shape. He is going to be steady. Ron has the steady run going on, he started the passing game last night, and I am sure he has a lifetime of trick plays to draw from if he needs to shake someone up.
Anyone have the skill to put Dr. Paul on a Vince Lombardi portrait?
Or Paul "Bear" Bryant might be better as the hat is well known.
http://en.wikipedia.org/w...
Best part for me was when
Best part for me was when Dr. Paul said "Now can I participate in this debate, please?" OMG I loved that!
The best part of the entire debate
Was when Huckabee said he promised to defend Israel if elected president and Paul pointed out that if we were really interested in protecting Israel then we should stop selling arms to their enemies.
What a paradox Paul caught all the other candidates in. I wish the camera man would have panned around to show the look on all of their faces.
Haha...
That was my favorite part too. It was funny that as soon as he brought up the fact that we give more money to Arabs than we do to Israel ALL the others threw up their hands like they had something intelligent to say. I believe they let Thompson and Guiliani respond and although for some unknown reason they got a little applause neither one of them addressed the point! I can believe people buy this s***.
Debate
I think Ron needs to slow down a bit when talking and be a bit more forceful when speaking. He is just plain too nice and the others take advantage of that. The substance of his answers are great but I think Americans are so dumbed down they would prefer to see a "performance" rather than get the real facts of what they are all saying. He needs to go on the attack a bit more also. He has plenty of ammo when it comes to picking those cementheads apart.
The Maverick vs The Rhetorics
The MSM has given Ron Paul the title "The Maverick".
Tonight it was "The Maverick" vs "The Rhetorics".
All the other candidates spewed the same rhetoric, but Ron Paul spoke the TRUTH and won!!
GO RON PAUL!!
Can't wait to see and hear more. They attacked him tonight, but the people heard more of what Ron Paul stands for.
We are behind you Ron Paul!!
from all the comments on here and Fox News Report on Debate
sounds like many people thought the attacks on RP were obvious, and uncalled for(even some so-called Non-RP fans said it seemed unfair to attack him, but not the others).
This may be a good thing....now , if he can be seen and /or heard, locally(in person/tv/radio), speaking to people, some town hall meetings of sorts...might win over some more voters?
CNN.com hitpiece and Keith Olberman
1. Check out this story on the front page of CNN.COM:
http://www.cnn.com/2008/P...
2. Last night on Countdown with Keith Olberman he was showing these graphics of how many delegates all the candidates have won in total including Iowa and NH, and they showed all the Republicans on the graphic except Ron Paul. I mean all the Republicans because they even showed Duncan Hunters total of 1 friggin delegate. Duncan Dimwit Hunter.
3. The CNN piechart with 10% of the chart to unknown (they did this in IOWA too), where the 10% is Ron Paul is so ludicrous I had to spit on the television.
Edit/Delete Message
Better than showing a zero
Hit pieces are bad, but there seems to be a general trend upward. I believe the pundits are starting to get to know Dr. Paul. Keep giving them his web site to learn more. Many pundits are saying the same thing as Dr. Paul, but appear completely ignorant that any candidate is running with that platform.
We all saw and heard Dr Paul in the debate tonight
I don't think the NYT saw or heard him. In this article, not one word about Dr. Paul.
http://www.nytimes.com/20...
No bias news here folks, move along as they say. s/
They should pull their heads out of their ***
.
tonight
I don't know exactly but I think that Huckleberry responded to RP saying that what can we trade with Iraq, "what do they have to offer, turbins" or whatever the prick said, but I wish the RP would have brought up gas and the price of oil at that point and how it was $27 before and now it is $100. This crap war is all about our gas and we lost another 23 americans this past week
Turbin comment.
Mccain said that i believe and yes 2007 was the highest year in casualties for America and god only knows the real amount of Iraqi civillian deaths aswell seems those people got it the worst of all. Yes what a wonderful surge plan. If we stay there long enough and keep sending troops the locals will be dead and only military bases will remain. Our pipeline will be closely guarded and we can plot our next scheme to secure the "prize" as Cheney put it. Yes an all out success.
Slow Down
“Substance” won’t win the election. Kennedy soundly beat Nixon because he “appeared presidential.” On televised debates, Nixon looked like a rank amateur, when in fact, he was the former vice-president! Ford said that Eastern Europe wasn’t dominated by the Soviet Union and although obviously an inadvertent faux pas, the press never let him forget it. The scalawag Carter won. Dr. Paul’s message is right on target and he gets my vote and prayers, but he must realize that “form” will beat “substance” every time. That’s a sad commentary on voter intelligence but I’m convinced it’s true. Dr. Paul, you didn’t come across well. Relax, slow down, and confidently tell your message like the patriot you are. If you act like an underdog, you’ll be perceived as an underdog – unelectable. You came across a bit more like Stan Laurel than the future President. You clearly had the answers and, although you have every reason to be defensive (especially with Fox moderators), please don’t appear apprehensive. My best advice: use some campaign money for presentation and public speaking coaching. It will pay off big time. You MUST WIN!
that has been said since debate one at the Reagan Library
but i am glad you said it again. too many of us Paulites just can't see that his mannerisms and public speaking abilities are not winning over those who have yet to take the red pill.
those of us with our eyes open are about only 10% of this country (and what a beautiful group of patriots we are), so we need Dr. Paul to speak some more in soundbites and what have you so that we can start winning over some of the sheeple.

Only a little blurb in the article. I was wondering what he said to Romney after the Ahmadinejad comment. "Make fun buddy"

Moment of ZEN
I was in and out of the house waiting for Ron Paul to have a chance at the 'after the debate" chat with the media talking heads of FOX. Can't recall which Fox Reporter mentioned something along the line of
"Ron Pual will not be on toinght" And in a panic of a voice says right back "This was his decision, I repeat this was his decision... he said he had a engagement somewhere else"
Like they were having flashbacks.... hummm.... jamm packed email boxes.... can't use phones for days on end... snow balls... LOL

No More Constitutional Lip Service. They can blabber and steal Ron Paul's talking points... but they can't stand on them..!
Us against Them
The amazing thing about this debate was that it really was Everyone again Ron Paul. I think (hope) that helps us. None of the others got across any differences between them. It was Establishment vs. Us. I refused to watch the forum on Sunday, but I imagine it was pretty boring without Ron Paul (probably why they didn't call it a "debate").

Link to video yet??????
I DVRed and the last 30 minutes were cut off! Anyone have a link to video yet??
Record the next show
I learned this after the first You Tube debate: Any show that *may* go longer, you should record the next show as well. You also get to see more commentary this way. It works with sports too.

I DO DECLAIR...!!!!!!!
I spent time in Hilton Head, SC.... lots of folks from up north moved that way so the accent is hard to find at times. Myrtle Beach sorta the same deal. Step back about 10 miles from the shore and it's back to the roots.
My parents thought this Luntz guy was off base. Mom says why did Ron with that text poll then. I threw in that when Luntz showed his little cheese dick chart hitting bottom... the crowd was actually cheering for Paul. I can only guess that Luntz hires nitwits. Mom also chirps in about how well they get paid to be on a focus group. She did one locally and got paid good money to just sit and eat all afternoon.

No More Constitutional Lip Service. They can blabber and steal Ron Paul's talking points... but they can't stand on them..!
You mean towns 10-15 miles away, like
Conway, SC, off of 501? Lived in the area Myrtle Beach for awhile.
Ever go to Huntington Beach State Park? Great place, all year around, to visit.
Sorry to digress... carry on with RP business( this Midwest cold/rain make sme miss the 50-70 degree days right now in MB area).
Luntz: What a piece of work
Did anyone else find it strange that all the people who spoke from his focus group lacked a southern accent. I've been to Charleston and people have about as deep an southern accent as you can get. What a sham. It makes me sick to my stomach to see how blatantly manipulated our society is.
I'm from NC
and most of those people sounded like Yankees to me. It made me wonder if this focus group was made up of plants. I thought Thompson did better than usual last night but he sure wasn't the winner - McCain did better than he did. But if you go to the Charlotte Observer poll Thompson is winning - I think it's because that focus group liked him.
Lack of accent
was indeed strange. I live in Ga. within sight of the South Carolina line. I only heard one southern accent in the Luntz focus group. I even commented on it to my husband. I do not think there were very many South Carolinians in the group.
The Rigged Focus Group
We already caught "Biased and Unbalanced" Faux News red handed using the same focus group in different locations. They were just paid political actors. It is on www.rense.com This intellectually challenged focus group were either paid actors, or they were cherry picked after answering a questionaire with a question: Are you in favor of the Iraqi war? Those that answered: 'no', did not get to be a part of the focus group. That would explain why these dummies all raised their hands in agreement that Ron Paul did the worst in the debate. When Ron Paul wins the debate and the all the focus group members raise their hands to say he did the worst, then you know something is rigged.
===================================================
The Ron Paul revolution is coming through your town. Either jump on board or get the hell out of the way!!!
JUST PAID ACTORS FROM ONE OF
JUST PAID ACTORS FROM ONE OF THOSE KNIFE COMMERCIALS...WE NEED TO DO A LITTLE DETECTIVE WORK ON THIS ONE AND EXPOSE THEM AGAIN!
Great Performance
Paul really stepped up tonight. Fox probably cherrypicked a crowd they thought would be in their corner, but Paul got all the applause. Basically he's working uphill against all the programming that the masses are getting on talk radio, FoxNews, etc. which may only be possible over the long haul. Deprogramming a nation doesn't happen overnight. The greatest thing is the mark we're making, no matter the outcome. For foreign policy, the NeoCon isn't the only voice in the party anymore.
Do we Rock or Not
Took me four attempts to vote.
And then I had to listen to all that stuff for all the other candidates.
BUT .... Ron Paul won again.
You know it's not impossible that Ron got 15% in NH.
It's not impossible by every way they know how they suppress him, (heck we see that). Ron is the next President.
I for one will fight for that until my last bullet (ie when you all leave, I'll still stand on the street corner crying "Ron Paul")
Not for me. But for you to be free.
I will not live on my knees!
Text Percentages
Could somebody please verify that I was not disillusional, faux initially posted RP with 35% of the text vote and that later dropped to 32%.
Percentages change
as more votes come in. This is not number of votes but PERCENTAGE of the total vote.
i would like to see the
i would like to see the whole conversation between mccain and Dr. Paul. the video's here skip the interchange between them. can anyone point me to the right place?
thanks
Great job tonight Dr. Paul.
The establishment and their shills at Fox News are afraid of you, because they're being exposed as nothing more than servants of the powerful lobbies in Washington.
