African Americans Please help Ron Paul
In another post it was pointed out that http://www.classicsoul102...
spoke about Ron Paul's being a racist. Rand Paul got on the radio to dis spell this myth but people feel that they didn't really believe him. Can someone email this radio station from the African American community and let them know that Ron Paul is definitely NOT a racist? Please help in whatever way you can because this ugly lie is not going away.
Please try this. I hope it works. Thanks

NAACP official comments on whether Ron Paul is a racist

Nelson Linder, head of the Austin NAACP & longtime acquaintance of Dr Paul discusses Ron Paul’s message of liberty...
African American patients??
I really don't feel comfortable asking this of any race, but maybe some former patients of Dr. Ron Paul who just so happen to be of African American decent could come out on his behalf to show his compassion for the "individual", not the color of skin. It is sad to have to come to this and submit to the old media their way, but we must pull out all stops.
great idea!

I'm black too, and I've met
I'm black too, and I've met and spoke to Dr. Paul in person. Actually, I said one thing to him about how blacks really need to hear his message and he wouldn't stop talking to ME! I even have a picture of him talking my head off. My wife is white and she said he was rubbing her back the whole time! Lol. Actually, when she told me that I knew then that this was a very compassionate man who obviously has a great reverance for women. It's hard for people to see that there are truly good people in this world. It's rare. It's even more rare to find them on "The Hill". But this is real.
Martin Luther King's dream
politepaulite
I am a white 54 year old white woman who was only 10 years old when MLK gave his Freedom speech. I knew it was important and I knew from Sam Cooke's song A Change is Going To Come, that something important was happening. When I recently saw Martin Luther King's speech again, it took my breath away. Words are not in my vocabulary with enough awe, of my respect. His words, his dreams were for ALL people. Ron Paul's talks about rights of the individual. I think we got lost for 40 years, but I hope the dream will live again
hey cactus1010
who are you supporting... huckabee? guiliani? obama?
whenever i read your comments, it makes me think you're on the wrong board.
Yeah, I think you're right.
Yeah, I think you're right. More trolling.
Ron Paul still has black support....
I'm black and Ron Paul still has my support because I can see through the BS. Anyone that knows Dr. Paul knows he would not say these things. The only problem are persons that do not know Dr. Paul and have a knee jerk reaction without doing the research, people who get all their news from TV, and those that want to profit, monetary and otherwise, from this situation.
I have a feeling from the comments thus far that some of you don't understand the black community. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
Also, if you have any suggestions, you can tell me those as well.
Addendum:
My personal view on the issue is a such:
-Ron Paul never has or ever will make such comments as those found in the "famous" newsletters.
-Dr. Paul is the most NON-RACIST person I have ever seen. (If you want real racism, look up Rev. Jackson and Al Sharpton)
-I prefer to be seen as an American individual, like we all are, but for the time being, I don't really care.
-Socialism devastated the black community, and its time for the community to come off of it. Single parenthood needs to stop being subsidized.(most are single black mothers)
-Educated blacks will immediately see through the BS and realize this is just a poor attempt at a smear campaign.
-Sadly racism, or perceived racism, elicits an easy knee jerk reaction from most non-educated and some educated blacks. (By non-educated I mean intellectually lazy)
-I hate to use labels, but I will do so for this example: Some whites feel the need to step in and defend blacks against racism; please don't. We can take care of ourselves, and it's actually, to me anyway, quite patronizing. (Same goes for affirmative action)
How widely-held is your perspective?
What is the best way to spread this perspective? Through church-based discussions? Or, would other venues work better?
Thanks for responding!
To be realistic, I really can't see any
blacks supporting Ron Paul after this... how can they justify their support for him with their, friends and relatives... has anyone read those remarks.
Granted Ron Paul says he did not write them and I believe him. But it would also do lot for his denial, if he named those who did run the newsletter and who approved those articles and knows very well that Ron Paul was not the one who wrote them.
That's what needs to be done to put this to rest once and for all.
Um.. hello?
Does that not imply that black people don't have brains? Don't get caught up playing MSM's game!
My nephew's mom is a 32 yr old black woman who registered to vote last week for the first time in her life. She is a rave promoter. While the rave community is pretty evenly mixed as far as ethnicity, they are mostly voting for Ron Paul. They are promoting him on MySpace and at parties. She told me she received a "get-out-the-vote" phone call from another raver to remind her to vote & that they have to ask for a Republican ballot to vote for Ron Paul. (plus a reminder that Ron Paul is the only candidate who will end the drug war). She used to run a group called "Raver's Care" doing community service to improve the image MSM has given ravers as a bunch of drugged out kids.
We just burned the "Free at Last" video (http://www.dailypaul.com/...) to DVD along with the Glen Beck one on the economy & "When in the Course of Human Events" (the one that ends with the guy saying "Get off your couches people! This is our country") and will be giving them to her this week to pass out at parties the next couple of weekends. We plan to get at least 50 out.

to reiterate some comments below...
I think ALL voters - white, black, Christian, atheist, pro-war, anti-war etc - who have a chance of becoming Ron Paul supporters are SMART ENOUGH to research his voting record and positions!
They will see how he is the only one speaking out against our racist drug war, that his voting record speaks volumes on his position of ALL INDIVIDUALS having rights (rather than collectivist notions that breed racism), etc.
There ARE some people who won't do the work and will base their vote on media sound bytes.
Same thing with people who disagree with what they hear about RP on foreign policy, economic issues, immigration etc.
Those who research him on any of these issues will most likely become supporters.
But there will always be some people who will just believe the media propaganda, and we can't change those people.

What needs to be done!
1. Seek out some African Amerian supporters of Ron Paul.
2. Put them on the paid staff of his campaign.
3. Place them with Ron Paul on the campaign trail.
This would shut down the voices..

This is true
However, Ron Paul is not doing much to help the situation, by keeping silent about those who did ran the newsletter and who approved those articles and who knows very well who wrote them.
Cactus
Why so negative? This isn't the first time.
How, exactly, would you "resolve" this issue?
I agree people should get more vocal about this on local radio shows.
But in response to comments below - How, exactly, would you "resolve" this issue?
1. Ron Paul has stated he does not have any idea who wrote those phrases. I for one, BELIEVE HIM. He has a campaign to run. Should he divert his attention & resources trying to find out information from 10+ years ago?
2. Ron Paul has discussed this over, and over, and over again, for a decade now; including the other day with Wolf Blitzer on CNN
3. Ron Paul's policies, voting record, speeches, legislation he supports, etc. all speak for itself. He is the *ONLY* candidate who discusses the racist drug laws and wants to put an end to the drug war, immediately.
What else is there?

but noone listens to me.
It is the only solution...a packed press conference, Ron Paul surrounded by family, loving supporters busting out the door and down the street, kucinich, barry goldwater jr speaking up, friends of all races.
Would be a great media moment!
turn poison into medicine
Good idea but...
I think his supporters of all different races, should get together and have a press conference without his knowledge and show solidarity for Dr. Paul on his behalf. People who know him personally or his constituents that he has assisted or former employees and patients that he has provided care for. This would be much more powerful than a scheduled appearance by Ron Paul as I feel he may get labeled as a panderer even if its to the media.
I like the idea, but
I like the idea, but will the old media even cover it?
I hear you! I'm listening!
Yes! I agree with this whole-heartedly. It needs to be big and definitive. This will NOT go away otherwise! Right now the issue is festering and poisoning the whole campaign.
I sort-of agree...
Not sure about Kucinich (maybe Barney Frank? He's not a competing candidate, after all!). But any press conference would need to include this guy:

if at all possible.

Racist issue
I also wrote a letter and sent it to his congressional office, and posted it here and other sites as well. This issue is not going to go away till it is resolved or it kills the whole campaign. We as supporters need the ammunition to fight back and we deserve to have it resolved, otherwise it makes us look like mindless zombies following a candidate no matter what comes up like i did (STUPID) for George Bush twice (DOUBLE STUPID) i will not make this mistake twice. We have all said and even Ron said this isn't as much about him as it is the message. We need to keep the message alive and those of us involved need to stick together to fight another day if this doesn't work out. As for now this issue is a festering thorn until it is pulled out and thrown away.
interesting photo

thanks!
A picture does speak a thousand words. Can anyone elaborate on the people and what they are meeting for? What is the best way to make this photo gain exposure and go viral to those who are concerned about the racist card? Any more photos like this?
Thanks, I'd been looking for that pic.
Now I'm curious who these other people are, especially the lady in the wheelchair.

Tents
The democrats have a big tent, but they have a black section with iron bars and razor wire.
RINO party is the same.
Racist,,,,,
I tell you what , maybe we could arrange a weekend fishing trip between Jesse Jackson ,Al Sharpton and Ron Paul . I Think however Jesse and Al would come back with a greater understanding of the constatution. LOL
Too many people on this board want their heads in the sand...
This race issue is a killer. I posted something here yesterday which was REMOVED because I dared to suggest how Ron could work out this race issue and make peace with the black community and in fact turn it to his favor.
As I said ..the post was removed.
idiots are all over this board who scream "troll" at the first sign that someone disagrees with them.
Oh well...I'll be running for local office on a Freedom platform...luckily I dont have any skeletons in my closet...I suggest the rest of you who can run put in your name for local office in your city, town etc.
This revolution was a seed. I hate to see it but since Ron can't argue his point his candidacy is dead in the water.
lates.

at the risk of offending some
My first thought is: Why don't voters (incl minorities) RESEARCH Ron Paul before they decide whether he is a racist or not?
We tell everyone to Google Ron Paul to find out about his foreign policy issues, his stance on the Fed & the IRS, his economic positions. Same thing with the racism issue.
If anyone is not willing to check on a candidate before they disavow them or choose to support them, then on what basis are they making their decision?
All of us have to do our homework, period!

As many of us keep-saying
(Even if it gets deleted occasionally) a head needs to roll. Yesterday, if not in the 1990s. The problem is, Dr. Paul is a very nice person and a not very nice person is making good use of that normally positive trait...It needs to stop. Today.

Who is this feminist?
Obviously the writer is not going to come forward.
The only good thing that has come of all the "former insiders" posts is that it is obviously NOT Ron Paul who wrote the articles.
Everyone apparently knows who did, but it is up to Ron Paul to out him / her.
It's not going to happen. That is Ron Paul's right, to take the fall for someone else.
The point, in my opinion, is that everyone has a right to express his / her opinion, and I know that Ron Paul believes that too. Therefore, I don't think he is willing to sacrifice someone elses rights just to further his bid for the Presidency.
