Radio Host Wants Ron Paul Supporters Dead

Lee Rodgers is apparently a talk radio show host on KSFO in the Bay Area. I've never heard of him, but Daily Paul reader lsutigersrule writes the following:

- - - - -

The radio host Lee Rodgers thinks Ron Paul is a moron. When his co-host Melanie Morgan gets email from Paul's supporters she deletes them. Rodgers took it one step further and suggested that email from Paul's people be traced so that they can "run you down and kill you like a mad dog."

Partial Transcript:

Morgan: Especially get rid of that Ron Paul. Gosh he irritates me.

Rodgers: Oh, he's a moron.

Morgan: And his people, don't email me. If you do I'll just delete you. I'll hit delete, delete, delete.

Rodgers: Oh come on, go with the real threat, "We'll trace you back, run you down and kill you like a mad dog. Go ahead say it Mel, that's what you really want to say."

Listen to it by clicking here.

This story was originally posted here: http://www.spockosbrain.com/ - that original post has some excellent ideas.

lsutigersrule goes on to say:

I personally am not a Ron Paul supporter, but calling for the death of his supporters is just wrong. I will say that I am glad he is against the Iraq war. That is something we agree upon.

- - - - - - -

Thank you - I could not agree with you more. Whether one is a Paul supporter or not, this type of language is simply not ever appropriate and represents much of what is wrong in America today.

Report'em

Call the FCC and complain about these schmucks.

What a bunch of low lifes to call for the death of particular supporters.

Melanie Morgan

Look at her commentary today posted at World Net Daily: http://wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=57871

"RON PAUL: Poor Ron Paul – it's tough to be the candidate of the conspiracy crowd and maintain any shred of credibility. This week, Paul had to denounce his own supporters who mobbed Rudy Giuliani on a Michigan ferry and threatened to throw the former mayor overboard. Paul's grass-roots activists claim that Giuliani stole $200 million worth of gold from the World Trade Center as part of the supposed 9/11 conspiracy that Paul's supporters have cooked up like Jiffy Pop, in their tin-foil covered heads."

I'd say that it's her head that is covered in tin-foil.

Yes It's all clear now.

That's what that blinking thermometer represents, a 2% lead and a stalled presidential race. Why didn't i see this before, I'm such an idiot.

Ignore

These type of things simply need to be ignored. People are adding Ron Paul's name to videos on YouTube just to get them noticed. Simply not worth our time. IGNORE this just trying to get ratings.

IGNORE THEM

I have listened to these people. About two minutes is all that a reasonable person can stomach. If you do anything in protest, it will only give them publicity and enrage their knuckle-dragging listeners. We have more constructive things to do with our time.

Pat Buchanan said...

That Ron Paul has the greatest voting record Congress has ever seen, and perhaps ever will see. ...and who the hell is Lee Rodgers? Who is the real moron?

Granted, Pat Buchanan is not the be-all-end-all on political opinion, but he's a legitimate and respected conservative in the political arena as a political analyst. And to say something like that about someone else's voting history doesn't come unsubstantiated or on a mere whim, or anything to do with being biased.

The opinion that Ron's voting record is the greatest in the History of Congress is closer to fact in my opinion than it is to opinion as it pertains to traditional conservatism and obedience to the Constitution.

I'll ask again, who in the blue hell is Lee Rodgers? He is a consummate fool.

Polite suggestions regarding KSFO

Greetings:
It was my blog, Spocko's Brain, that contained the quotes from the KSFO hosts.

I have updated the page to add some context, advertiser contacts and some thoughts.

I hope that you will read the updates because it also will give you some idea of how the hosts have responded to your emails and what they think of you.
http://www.spockosbrain.com/2007/09/attn-ron-paul-supporters...

After you have read the context on my page you can listen to the KSFO podcast from this mornings' show. The segments where Rodgers comments are at about 15 minutes, 40 minutes and 2 hours and 40 minutes.

Note how his story changes from calling you all "psychotic lunatics who are pathologic liars" to then when he stops denying the truth of what he said and tries to turn it into something about teasing Melanie Morgan.

He also made it clear he will not apologize for anything he said. I had hoped that he might feel differently considering you are not the usual people he verbally assaults.

If you are interested in alerting anyone about these comments, I suggest the advertisers. Please don't threaten boycotts, most advertisers aren't even aware they are advertising on the show. Ask them to listen to the audio, listen to their customers and follow their own internal guidelines regarding supporting this kind of talk. It is their choice.

BTW, that the management at ABC Radio and Citadel Broadcasting have also chosen to keep supporting this talk, Rodgers' contract was renews a few months ago.

NOTE: Disney is no longer the direct owner of ABC Radio, however they are the majority shareholder of Citadel Broadcasting and they were very aware of these kind of comments.

Fighting Back

Well, it sounds to me that these DJs need to be flooded by Ron Paul supporter phone calls whenever they open the phone lines.

Who's the moron

Dr. Paul is a highly intelligent, educated and compassionate (this is the correct use of the word not GW's) man. I far as I know he is the only candidate I know of that referred to Gandhi. Just about all the others with a few exceptions want to keep the killing going. The broadcasters who call for Dr. Paul's death are, in my mind, very misguided. I hate to call anyone evil, but they sure are skirting the word. I hope they don't call themselves Christians, for come judgment day I feel they'll have a lot of explaining to do.
God Bless Dr. Paul.

Okay, Let's talk to the advertisers.

If anyone can find out who thear sponsors are I recommend a letter like this.

I was shocked to hear Lee Rodgers on KSFO say that Ron Paul supportes should be killed. As a ron paul supporter I am extremely offended by this statement. I am a frequent user of your product and would like you to encourage Mr. Rodgers to apologize and retract his statement publicly. If this does not happen I cannot continue to support your products if you continue to support Mr. Rodgers and his offensive comments. I am sure that Mr. Rodgers can be convinced to retract his awful commnets and that my friends and family and I and my 1500+ blog readers will all happily continue to use your product unmarred by negative association with those who advocate the murder of those united under Dr. Ron Paul.

Thank you for your time.

If we wer to all do something like this and suceed it oculd make a major impact on Dr. Pauls media image.

Radio Hosts

Wouldnt worry to much about these two, first of all they are probably trying to get a reaction our of Ron Paul supporters. Second there is no way they could know in advance by you email if you are a supporter or not.

I'm not worried one bit.

Who gives? She's such a lamer, she deletes files one at a time. I say, send her more e-mails, bomb the mail out of her, so she can hit, hit, hit, the delete, delete, delete key ;D

Yes, Nail the advertisers.

Yeah, free speech gives them the right to say it. But we dont have to support them financially. Boycot companies and businesses that pay these people to spout their tripe. Thats voting your wallet.

Talk is cheap

this guy's a pussy, he knew he didn't mean it, he knew if he did, losing his job would be lucky, for if he actually meant any serious insult or threat, we're waiting for him.

we're everywhere, I dare him say it again.

I love these guys. They are

I love these guys. They are me.

So What

We have already wasted the time in reading this and then people are going to burn more time resonding? The hosts want exposure and attention much like a shock jock and you are going to give it to them? The advertisers will love to hear from people because it is proof the show has listeners. Ignorant? sure. Offensive? Yup. Worth the energy used to send even this e-mail? nope. Let them rant as long as they spell the name right and it all backfires on them. Respond with equally offensive anonymous e-mails to the show or sponsors over the poor choice of using a freedom and Ron Paul looks bad and nothing gets accomplished. They obviously don't know civility so I wouldn't waste that on them either.

Joe

Let's ignore them

I've never heard of these radio hosts until now. How many people could they possibly be influencing? I doubt it's enough to matter. Their banter is so adolescent it doesn't even deserve a response. Let's ignore them and concentrate on more productive activities.

worst

Melanie Morgan and Lee Rodgers are the worst type of americans..............ignorant.

Ok, I'm sorry, but this is

Ok, I'm sorry, but this is stupid. This guy doesn't actually want Paul supporters dead. He was trying to use strong language to appeal to his listeners, make a point and seem darkly humorous in the process. Obviously this guy is a moron but as Ron Paul supporters, we should put this stuff below us and not propagate it like so many others would do.

Remember, as supporters of

Remember, as supporters of the constitution and the first amendment, any Ron Paul supporter, though obviously disagreeing with the sentiment, should support 100% their right to say it, no matter how distasteful. There's a protest sign making the rounds on the social bookmarking sites that captures the concept nicely. It says, "Free speech for everyone, even douchebags"

Free speech has limits

One of the primary limits is threatening other individuals with bodily harm. People can rightfully be punished for making verbal threats of aggression and that is not an abridgment of free speech. I was appalled by his language and it is not ok even in a joking atmosphere.

I'll be the devil's advocate again

After listening to it, I have to say it might be taking it a little out of context. Rodgers says that that is what the other really wants to say. I think it's just an attempt to jump on the "I'm patriotic because I think Ron Paul is a loon" bandwagon that we are seeing so much of. Very poor choice of words and shocking none the less. Should there be complaints? Yes, I think they should at least be made aware of how we feel, but it should be kept in the proper context.

I think in the coming few months we could see dailypaul become saturated with these types of reports, like the Roeser one. My theory is that these people that have been playing the game so long and understand how it is played are being thrown a curve ball. They don't know how to react, but they see that belittling Ron Paul and his supporters seem to be the acceptable thing to do. In fact, I think they distance themselves so far from the "Ron Paul loonacy" that they dare not even listen to what he says. Like if you listen you might catch some sort of virus.

Its going to take more and more "reputable" people to actually announce their support for Paul to get these "head in the sand" conservatives to actually listen. What shocks me is I started supporting Paul precisely because I thought he was the only educated, intelligent candidate. As I saw more, it just made it more clear. So I think it's really confusing for all of us when we hear someone say Ron Paul is an idiot and doesn't know what he is talking about.

We need to keep continuing to get people to listen and not get distracted by these instances.

To heck with the sponsors...

If you feel this was a real threat, I'd report it to the police. I know many of you are not fans of the gov't agencies, but what about the FCC? They could lose their license over that...

Doh! Suggesting we use a

Doh! Suggesting we use a government agency Ron Paul probably wants to eliminate in order to violate a fellow citizen's first amendment rights? What would Ron Paul think? If they tried to act on the threat, that would be a good time to exercise your second amendment rights though. :)

Wrong dare, sir

You see, for me supporting Ron Paul, I'm also a big supporter of the second amendment. Which means, Rodgers wants to threaten my life, he'll find out very quickly the difference between me and the liberals he loves to attack.

HERE's THE ADVERTISERS...hmmm noc-list (mission impossible)

http://www.ksfo560.com/sectional.asp?id=15658 It doesn't have a list of all of the phone numbers, but the names are there. I'm sure we could find them.

Someone please SAVE the page so that if it gets pulled we still have it.

Hosts of the Melanie Morgan Show Want Veterans Dead?

I have listened to the statements made on the Melanie Morgan Show. I am sickened by what I heard. She and her co-host were hating on the U.S. Presidential Election process when they decided it would be best to "hunt down and KILL Ron Paul supporters."

As a veteran of the U.S. Army Airborne and a supporter of Ron Paul I would be included in that death list. I have many friends and fellow paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division currently deployed in Iraq and engaged in combat, Many whom have expressed staunch support for Dr. Paul and his ideals, people in the military seem to love The Constitution, go figure.

Does Melanie Morgan and co-host want to KILL these Ron Paul supporters also? I guess Melanie could use her connections with the political group that claims to be a charity for the purpose of "supporting the troops" to locate these Ron Paul supporters. But is taking someones right of free political association away at the threat of death really helping our troops?
I do not think so, please stop this insane person no one should support her show/advertisers. Also do not give money to this sham political organization Melanie Morgan runs. Donate items directly to service members and their families. That is what I do. I send 25lbs of goodies to my guys in Iraq about once a month.

Advertisers

The original post (which this entry links to) lists a few; AT&T, Lexus, & Select Comfort actually use Rodgers to voice their commercials.

Fear-Based

.
People are either based in trust or in fear; and that paradigm will affect a person's behavior. It is a belief system and it is not easily changed.

So when radio people say nasty things, or George Stephanopolous smirks, "That's not gonna happen," it is knee-jerk fear response; and it is rooted in ignorance.

That is why you can never win an argument with an ignorant person, ever. Just move on and give silent thanks that you're not like them.

"Fear -Based"

I believe people do things based on pleasure or fear. In Steph's case, don't know if either apply to his comment. I don't think he expected this kind of campaign as he's never seen anything like it when made that comment. More concerning is that I believe he made it based on him knowing how corrupt the election process is. All that said, if there's a will, there's a way. And there's no stronger will than that of a pissed off American. Let's prove that little twerp wrong!

Advertisers

Ok, I don't want to spend time listening to this jerk. If someone knows what companies advertise on his show I wish they would post a list of them. I'd like to call them and give them a piece of my mind. That I would spend time on.

that's an even greater waste

that's an even greater waste of your time.

those companies are big, as are the radio stations, only the station and the host have something to lose. their sponsors generally, for lack of a better phrase "don't give a shit".

ignoring him or confronting him is best. dont waste time with people remotely related to him.
