Christian Churchgoers: Please come here, weigh in ==>
I've been trying to think of a way to help educate well-meaning Christians who have been dragged into the Hucklibebee fray under (very) false pretenses. You see Christians standing around in circles joining hands and praying for this "Christian" and it just about makes me puke. Yes, we as Christians should pray for our enemies. But there's also a little thing called God's commandments, and one commandment most people have heard of is THOU SHALT NOT LIE.
Huck running as an "honest Christian" is a lie of the biggest magnitude. I have only just started with this link
http://www.judicialwatch....
...but perhaps some of you alert people out there have collected even more evidence against the dishonorable governor.
The plan I'm thinking of is how RP church going Christians can FINALLY get the TRUTH into throngs of churches across America.
Just one or two men or women could hold "election truth focus groups" or "election prayer meetings" with the sole purpose of seeking out the TRUTH about all candidates - instead of blindly following someone like Huckliebee.
I'm not sure if it would (or should) have to go through the church pastor or if it could just be voluntary among the congregation.
I am not currently attending regularly as I have not found a church which still preaches from the Bible in my area...
But surely there are RP supporters who do attend church. Is this a possibility? Would church goers seek out the TRUTH, if such an effort was made in the most compassionate, sincere, loving way?
You invite people to meet with you, at your home or in a coffee shop. You can tell them you want to discuss the truth about the election and candidates. You ask them to pray about their decision to join you. You tell them you will call in a couple days to remind them and pray with them over the phone. And then you turn it over to the Lord and wait for His answer.
Christians, please, is something like this already going on? If so, is it "working"? If not, do you think something like this is an idea worth pursuing?
Is there any hope for Christians to come to their senses and stand against the wave of Huck support that is crashing down around them and their futures?
Would anyone please like to comment or improve upon the type of idea I have stated here? Please help us win against the evil that is H. running for President. God help us all if we do not resist such forces...
Thank you.

Truth Christians
You said, "The plan I'm thinking of is how RP church going Christians can FINALLY get the TRUTH into throngs of churches across America."
On Sunday mornings take a handful of slim jims and put them on the car windshields in church parking lots. Take out ads in local newspapers or penny savers about Ron Paul's Pro-Life stand, about RP keeping the government out of church business, no taxes on tithes.
I'm a born again Christian, independent fundamentalist, KJV 1611 - get the point? I'm a precinct captain, with a local meetup, put out signs, flyers, went into churches to share Ron Paul's message. Don't assume Christians automatically support Huck. Many Christians supported Bush. Ask them, did you support President Bush? Do you like RealID? RFID tracking in passports and driver's licenses? Do you like the merging of Canada, Mexico and America? Are you aware these have been brought in through Pres. Bush? Didn't Pres. Bush say he was a born again Christian? Ron Paul has a voting record - so does Huck - check them out and I hope you'll see why I'm voting for Ron Paul and I hope you will too.
Yes, all true. I was
Yes, all true.
I was thinking also of large congregations - if you don't know the people they may be a bit put off if you try to shove ideas at them. That's why I was imagining a sort of "fact-finding" effort within groups of people - with maybe one or two RP supporters giving their reasons for supporting RP and listing the issues that were personal to them. Then other group members could explain what issues are important to them. And the discussion hopefully would progress to comparing the various candidates' stands on each issue.
The differences would be glaring and obvious and hopefully the free exchange of ideas would win RP more support, or at least make people think...
Don't know if this makes sense but then it is late and I should probably shut up now...

I agree
start with members of your congregation first, but many Christians have friends that don't go to their church. I really like your fact finding ideas.

Don't Waste Time, Don't Slam Huckabee
The problem is that you are referring to a small segment of Christians who by and large are involved in a personality of cult. The Huckabee/Huckster connection with Kenneth Copeland and John Hagee should be all too obvious for even the not so discerning Christian but this particular "strain" of Christianity is pretty much "feet in concrete" when it comes to their golden calves/personalities.
Your time is better spent with Christians who have not abandoned their faith to mere men like Huckabee but cling to Christ. The truth shall set them free.
Continue to be peaceable, kind, and loving to those who oppose Ron Paul, let your talk be verified by your walk.

Christian Just War Theory
I was thinking about this before going to bed last night. What I came up with is that perhaps the best way of converting Christians is to show them in their scriptures how Gov. Huckabee's views stand in stark contrast to the Christian just war theory. There's been a lot of discussion on this topic since well before Jesus' mortal ministry. I'll see what I can put together to make a good argument.
That would be great!

I know, and as poster below you says also, since when do we as a nation so influenced by Christians, have the right to go around rubbing out all these other nations? It just is so disgusting the way it became all twisted around. Like the Bible says, good will be perceived as evil, and vice versa.
Boy, ain't that the truth.

keep it simple.
18 Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one sinner destroys much good.
Ecclesiastes 9:18
http://www.dailypaul.com/...
This must be driven home. This war mongering mentality that many conservatives have taken up, is not only unbiblical, its sinful. No man can preach the merits and love of Christ, the very core of what CHRISTianity is, and uphold an idea of preemptive war, secret prisons, unjust laws, etc.
Its that simple. Make a strong foundation from which to start a discussion. This is not an argument. So, take the foundation of Christianity and its core principles.
Beyond that, even when faced with adversity, as Christians, we should maintain composure. We should trust in the Lord that he will deliver us from our enemies. This idea that we need to hunt down our "potential" enemies is ridiculous. It shows a lack of faith, a lack of trust, a clear disregard for the LAW of Love, and the bible is very clear about what happens to those who pick up the "sword."
Take these 2 passages. I don't think its anymore clear than this.
Matthew 26:52
Put your sword back in its place," Jesus said to him, "for all who draw the sword will die by the sword.
Revelation 13:10
If anyone is to go into captivity,
into captivity he will go.
If anyone is to be killed[c] with the sword,
with the sword he will be killed. This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness on the part of the saints..
Hope this helps, feel free to ask me for any help.
The road less traveled.
This question of how to get it through to Christians that Ron Paul is their man has been on my heart since we discovered him. I was thinking, "What is wrong with these people?" I always try to be positive, but it seems to me that recognizing the leadership of Dr. Paul will be a "road less traveled" challenge for most Christians. Sorry to say, so many follow the broad, easy path instead of the narrow way; they want their ears tickled, instead of hearing the common sense truth. For me, I do my best to "evangelize" those I know (at a very high success rate, I might add) and pray.

Hello and thank you for your thoughtful comment.
I guess that is what I am trying to help us figure out - are leaders or congregations "responsible" (for lack of a better word at almost 3 am LOL)?
I remember hearing Mat Staver on Liberty Counsel one time state that pastors cannot try to persuade churchgoers but can only state which *issues* are at stake. Smart and aware voters would make the connection, but not all. Or maybe I am wrong, and the pastor CAN say that "Ron Paul stands for X, and Huckabee believes Y...".
Oh, I found a link http://lc.org/index.cfm?P...
I must soon hit the hay, but will maybe re-start this thread later on Saturday - I think people have made some good comments.
I feel that we as Christians are falling down somewhere; that at least SOME of the votes lost to Huckliebee can be attributed to us not doing our job amongst congregations, right?
Thank you all....

Thank you for speaking what's on my mind...
I am a believer in Jesus, a self-proclaimed Christian, but not the biggest fan of today's organized religion.
Frankly, I am sickened by Huckabee's abuse of MY beliefs to basically tell the Christian voters (figuratively), "If you don't vote for me, you are not making the Christian vote."
It's propaganda and a sad display of abuse. You can vote for ANYONE and still be a Christian (well, except maybe Hillary (JUST KIDDING!)).
It's sad that many Christians cannot think for themselves. Instead, they follow the church too blindly, not their personal convictions.
Besides, the separation of church and state is what keeps our government from making excuses for limiting liberties they don't agree with, which is the reason I am a libertarian.
Sure, the nation was founded by a lot of Christians, but it was not founded on Christianity. It was founded on a belief in a supreme God, but the supreme God gave us THE RIGHT TO BELIEVE WHATEVER WE MAY; hence the term "God-given rights". Whether or not one believes in God is missing the point, the point is that we have free-will and no one has the right to take it from us or limit it.
Even the Bible says that the laws of God are higher than the laws of man; precisely why we should give all the credit of man-made laws to man. Even the Bible makes the distinction between the two types of laws, why can't Mike??
It's sad that Huckabee doesn't get that yet.
Facism; I can smell it's sulfurous fumes beginning to burn below the hand-basket that holds America, and it's matchstick over kerosene is the Huckster. It appears that we can't count on Chuck Norris to roundhouse kick fascism out of America, that's why the only prescription is a healthy dose of the good Doc Paul!!
Make Sure Your House is in Order
I forget where this verse is (Timothy or Peter??). But it refers to making sure your house is in order, making sure any problems there are fixed - otherwise you will not be able to help others whose houses are not in order!
This is Christian foreign policy!!!! We are spending Trillions to fix other countries where we are going broke and bankrupt here and the hospital system stinks, the borders aren't secure, etc
ruling your own house...
1Ti 3:4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
1Ti 3:5 (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
1Ti 3:6 Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.
1Ti 3:7 Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
Ok Here we go....
Can anyone get their Pastor's on board with the idea of a "Candidate Workshop" of sorts. You see the deal here is that Huckabee is really NOT a saved man. And I say that boldly from what I have observed not only his actions but his rhetoric as well.
His statement last night..."HUCKABEE WARNS IRAN: BE PREPARED TO SEE GATES OF HELL" I mean what an IDIOT! What Christian man says this??
The idea is to expose Huckabee for what he is. The simply let people READ Ron Paul's statement of Faith.
Thoughts?

"Anything worth doing is worth doing slowly." Mae West
My Two Cents
I've come to believe that many of my fellow Christians choose a candidate based on a half a dozen, 30 second sound bites, and not make choices Biblically. When I deal with my fellow Christians, I point out what God expects of a leader. In 2 Chronicles 9:8-9, the Queen of Sheba tells King Solomon that God placed him on the throne to do "justice and righteousness."
Justice is extremely important to God. A false balance, as well as differing weights and measures, are an abomination. Justice is not to be perverted. National Leaders bring stability to nations by the exercise of true justice (Proverbs 29:4) Though justice is broad, the term searched will yield a lengthy study.
With the concept of justice in mind, Christian supporters of Huckabee need to inquire about the gross miscarriage of justice he did with all the pardons of convicted felons during his term. One cannot out-pardon all 6 of the governors of neighboring states combined without causing massive injustice. The case of Wayne Dumond is just the tip of the iceberg and is not an isolated case. There are multiple murders, rapists, and armed felons who have received this same clemency from Huckabee, then committed more crimes upon release from prison. According to the Arkansas Newspapers, State Prosecutors have been very upset with him.
Furthermore, I believe Huckabee supports the many unconstitutional pieces of legislation that have occurred since our current so-called Christian President has signed into law. (See the books by Judge Andrew Napolitano for a clearer understanding.) These include the Patriot Act, Military Commissions Act, The REAL ID Act, and numerous Executive Orders. He's also in favor of continuing the detaining of prisoners at Guantanamo Bay who currently have no right to due process, a violation of Deuteronomy 1:16.
In my view, Huckabee does not qualify for office biblically. His record on justice is highly questionable and there is no guarantee that he will do differently. By contrast, Ron Paul's voting record reveals he will do justice and righteousness, just as the Bible demands. The choice for Christians is clear.
AMEN AND AMEN!
VERY WELL SAID! Thank you! I am very blessed to attend a church where our Pastor doesn't really talk about politics or suggest who to vote for. It is also based strictly on Bible Chapters and verses.
To MissDavenport, my church offers a website, www.ccwc.org (Calvary Chapel Worship Center in New Port Richey, FL) if you wish to check it out. They record the sermons on CD's and Pastor Bill Strayer has written several pamphlets, but you can access all the Bible teaching through the website. I'm sorry you don't have a good Bible based church in your area, where do you hail from, if I may be so bold as to ask?
I'm sure there are many members of my church who would be interested in such a Christian Workshop because it does affect our lives in such a big way! I get very frustrated because many of my Christian friends don't think we should worry about politics and feel that God will take care of everything! The Lord helps those who help themselves is more my way of thinking! I can't sit by and watch our great country go down in flames without at least trying to make a real change! Of of my very closest and dearest friends since high school (several decades!) STILL thinks George W. Bush is a good man! I PRAY for her A LOT and try very hard not to talk politics with her, but I send her all kinds of RP information!
Thank you for your thoughts and for those facts!

For all Christians, but especially those who reverence God's law
For all Christians, but especially those who reverence God's law, we should be reminding ourselves and others what the scriptural criteria is for elected officials.
The Bible says to select “able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness” and who will not “take a bribe.” Based on the facts below and many others, Ron Paul meets these qualifications better than any other candidate for President.
1. Ron Paul is an able man. He is a 10-term congressman from Texas. He introduces among the most substantive legislation of all congressman. He presently serves on the House Committee on Financial Services and the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, two of the most important areas of expertise needed for our circumstances.
2. Ron Paul fears God. Although Ron Paul is more private about his faith in Christ than some other politicians today, he shows his fear of God in many ways.
o His respect and adherence for the rule of law is a sign of his fear of God. Ron Paul seeks to be faithful to the constitutional authority proscribed to him as President.
o Ron Paul wants to return freedoms, rights, and accompanying responsibilities back to where they should properly be, on the individuals and families of America. Any other position is inconsistent with biblical roles of government.
o Ron Paul properly puts utmost importance on the national debt and monetary policy. The Bible says that the borrower is slave to the lender. If you or I tried to run our families the way the government does, we would be bankrupt. Yet, our government continues to spend money we don’t have by borrowing and printing more money with no end in sight. Only Ron Paul has an immediate plan to start reducing expenses. By executive order, he could bring America’s troops home from locations all over the world. This would begin to cut our spending, cut our deficits, and help us better protect our own country and borders rather than those of other countries.
3. Ron Paul is a man of honesty, integrity, and principle. He votes and introduces legislation consistent with his campaign promises. Therefore, I can trust what he will do and stand for as President.
o Dr. Paul paid for the college educations of his five children instead of seeking government loans.
o As a congressman, he has been faithful to the principles of the Constitution and what is right. He does not spend our collective money on things that are not authorized by the Constitution or that just don’t make sense, including giving billions of dollars in foreign aid when we are over nine trillion dollars in debt.
4. Ron Paul hates covetousness and bribes. Ron Paul is the only presidential candidate whose record clearly indicates a willingness to stand up against the bribe-based, special-interest system that we have in American politics today.
o He does not participate in the lucrative Congressional pension program because he does not think it is fair to taxpayers.
o He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year.
Thanks for the thoughtful comments...

One of my favorite Songs...
http://www.youtube.com/wa...
Ron Paul talks bout Fascism in America...so does this song...
American Babylon lyrics
A thousand bloody hand prints stain the walls of liberty,
A stranger hides in dreams denied, awaiting his release.
I've seen this picture before.
I never though that we would end up here,
When fascism comes as an angel of light
Its license parading as tyranny drives forth its son.
The son of morning dominating fears, afflicting fallen men.
His body highly organized; its coming into prominence
To bear its ominous warnings.
Its in your blood to comprehend its origin,
For those who refuse to remember the past are condemned to
Repeat it,
The first and the last, dust to dust...
History is his story
And life is laughing at its peril.
Building towers that come forth in men,
Shifting powers consuming us within,
They will puzzle the apostles till the end.
Enter into the silence, into the dying life of America,
The brave, the slave, the grave.
The shattered pigs dying as primitive savages,
Eating their flesh, they lie rotting in dirt,
While a stranger among you has challenged the course
Of inhuman existence and alien forces.
The birth of the black prince is setting the stage
In its thriving dissension, exalting his rank,
And the innocent man will fall victim to hands
In the trial of the truth
And its twisted reversal.
The union of factions bleeds shock to the system,
For civilization has ended today.
The transitional nature of acts and society climbs in its place
While its face re-creates and until your god is dead.
Enlighten me with your pale statues, face of inhibition,
And until your reign has ended, frighten me with your
Stale-taste-tongue of inquisition.
In your eyes I will come forth in men lines with no justice,
No order to defend, and the stone will be cast again...
Enter into the fire, into the bloody gates of America,
The great, the fate, the late.
psalm 120
"I am a man of peace; but when I speak, they are for war"
One has to recognize that
One has to recognize that big government in any capacity is counter to religious freedom no matter what religion.
I am a deacon, and churches split over tax code. Honest men are painted in disparaging light because of the fanagling of funds through the church. It doesn't have to be this way.
Many people in my church are pro Ron Paul, especially the military guys who have been back and forth to Iraq. Their opinion is a persusive one.
Some of them, though, can't understand the stance that the federal gov't should not write legislation on drugs and prostitution. Our country might burn for this kind of toleration.
I always tell them that they have to make sure drugs and prostitution don't take over our "land," which is our city and neighborhoods.
They generally think the US is our "land." Even though it is extremely large as far as pure territory goes. But, since Sodom and Gomorrah had bad laws for their "land." (Which was about as big as my neighborhood in Mississippi) Big government conservatives (Neocons) armlock Christians into submission, by demagoguing.
They have got to understand that big government is the problem, so when a politician talks about what he is going to "do," Beware!
You're right on the money
You're right on the money Brother!

Thought for today...Psalms 2...He wins...
Psalms 2:1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
Psa 2:2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,
Psa 2:3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
Psa 2:4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.
Psa 2:5 Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.
Psa 2:6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.
Psa 2:7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.
Psa 2:8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
Psa 2:9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.
Psa 2:10 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.
Psa 2:11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
Psa 2:12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
I'm a Christian; a Mormon even.
This is a secular decision and it requires a secular conversion.
All the people I've talked to about Paul have been Christians. I've found the best way to get people interested in Paul is to let them see him talk, sit down and play them a video or two and then discuss it a little bit. (Emphasis on _a little bit_.) Just get people interested. They will generally do the rest. I've converted mostly Romney supporters. Big surprise, I know; but it's the same principle. Tell them that monetary policy is the defining issue of this election and tell them why. Then tell them there's only one candidate talking about it. This was what turns people off to every other candidate; and obviously it worked for me.
Spiritual conversion (which I happen to have seen plenty of as a full-time missionary for the Church) I feel is the wrong way to go in this specific case. Instead, I allow people to be fully won over themselves on Paul's positions' logical merits. So no, I don't believe there's any one really good way to convince Christians that they shouldn't stand up for a guy that they somehow feel a spiritual connection with by saying that 'our guy is the real Christian' or whatever similar route.
I understand what you are
I understand what you are saying thanks. My point about doing this conversing in a church group is because I have seen video of whole congregations or parts of a congregation almost trance-like and glassy eyed in their fervor towards someone who we know is deceiving them. And he even does it in the shadow of the cross...that is scary to me.
