A new and exciting way to educate the masses?!
Ok. I know this is a public forum and I MAY be shooting myself in the foot here by posting this idea for all to see, but I am hoping that SOMEONE will look at this and run with it... and we will need a whole lot of creative, intelligent and knowledgable people behind it to make it a success.
First I need to ask you to read something.
The following article is from Wired magazine. It exposes a brand new type of marketing ploy that is a kind of "interactive marketing". The article displays an ingenious scheme created by Trent Reznor of the band Nine Inch Nails.
BMW also created a similar idea with a set of movies they created that told a story over time that actually worked it's way into a mysterious plot that people took into their daily lives and followed through to an actual party in Las Vegas where one of their new cars was given away to one of the poeple that had "made it to the end".
So, I know the article is a bit lengthy, but please read it! Then return here and continue reading this entry...
Now that you have read the article, on to my idea!
We know that our biggest obstacle with getting the general populace to support Dr. Paul is their lack of knowledge regarding the following:
1. The Constitution of the United States
2. The thoughts, ideas and passions of the founding fathers
3. The Federal Reserve
4. The Income Tax
5. The Council on Foreign Relations
6. The underlying reasons for the "Wars not declared"
...etc. There are many more that we can add, but you get the picture.
My idea is to design an "interactive game" of sorts. One that teaches you the above listed facts and ideas as you investigate the clues. ALL web based, with an occasional use of "other sources" in the mass media without their knowledge... which, in my opinion, would be very simple and quite legal. We would just be using their source/media to point to more clues.
Think of it for just a second...
A mystery game that walks a person through the creation of the nation and it's progressive take over, with the game ending where we find ourselves today! The players coming to the conclusion that Ron Paul is their only hope to set aright the things that have been done, to throw off the shackles that they have now been made aware of, and to take a part in this great revolution!
Give me your thoughts. Thoughts given WITHOUT reading the article are more than useless, so please make your thoughts useful by reading the article before submitting.
With all the web-savvy people... joined with those that have and can produce the facts about the above listed items, I think this would be something of enormous proportions!

How about taking advantage of the writers' strike?
I think we could create some web-based "entertainment" that would attract many viewers, considering the writers' strike is not being resolved, and people will be looking for entertainment on the web much more.
How can we create a weekly show/event that would promote Ron Paul, and create new outlets for dissemination of his ideas?
Let's brainstorm and get something going.
Who are you calling the "masses"?
Sorry, but that term really raises the hairs on the back of my neck. It's a Marxist term that displays contempt for anyone who's not with them. We don't need to convince the "masses", we need to get the message to the people.

Huh?
Well I guess we all have our own meaning and emotional response to certain words. I don't share yours... I can see your point though. I don't hold people in contempt for having a different idea than mine... I DO hold those who don't have either the intelligence or self-respect to have their "own" idea in contempt though.
Most of them are too wrapped up in their "toys" to care anything about what's going on around them... and I do hold contempt for that.
Thanks for the idea but I
Thanks for the idea but I don't think people would have the patience or time for it. And it wouldn't probably reach who we need to reach most - the people who are grabbing our votes - the people who huddle in their homes not "clicking" on ANYTHING but their remote boob tube controls, and leave their houses just long enough to do damage by voting for one of the inept goons opposite Dr Paul on the Republican ticket.
Sorry that's MHO.

Preaching to the Choir
You people refuse to step outside your realm of experience.
1) The campaign is run by folks who do not know how to win. They must be replaced, or it's over.
2) Most people are not relying on the Internet to the degree that we are to generate solid votes in this primary. The net is at best an efficient vehicle to communicate between the volunteers, it's not generating the heat with the public anymore.
3) Well.... there is no number three.
I did attend another sign-waving today
I agree, the internet is great for organizing us and gathering funds, but doesn't compare to precinct walking!
Even sign-waving today... our whole family must have given out 50 slim jims an hour... and got hundreds of honks throughout the day! Todays signn waving was twice the size of last Saturday!
So how many are precinct walking or sign-waving?
As far as the people running the campaign? We've already done more for our candidate than any other "campaign team" has ever done before. What the heck would we need to get a new team for?
To me, a campaign team is a "lie team" telling the candidate what to say to whom and how to say it. Truth doesn't need a scheme in my opinion.
The Internet is limited in audience
Preaching to the choir is a very apt phrase here.
Now I have sent DVDs out, only to find some folks don't have a DVD player. They donated the unusable DVDs to the local library.
I don't have a VHS deck to master video with.
We are a technologically fractured nation, and focusing on the Internet will continue to miss a large number of voters.
hey fyi

Two totally different ideas.

Just keeping this visible for the most interaction...
Sounds interesting...I just had an idea...
Of similar sorts...a You Tube web story...the front end has to catch peoples attention...and be somewhat vague on the political end...but capture people long enough to explain issues and then give them the solution...
Controversy always draws people in, maybe we can use what the media has whipped up to drag people in!!!
If we could start something along the lines of jibJab...in 2004, we would be all over!!!
