Ron Paul excluded from NRA event?
Hello,
I should probably be writing to the campaign HQ, but I'm sure they are currently inundated with e-mails, so I thought I would ask you if you all knew anything about this...
I am subscribed to the NRA-ILA e-mail alerts, and today I noticed that they held a "Celebration of American Values" which featured several GOP and Democratic candidates: "Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), former Sen. Fred Thompson (R-Tenn.), Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-Ark.), and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, a candidate for the Democrat nomination, provided videotaped remarks, as did GOP candidates Governor Mitt Romney (R-Mass.) and U.S. Representatives Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) and Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.). "
I'm sure I don't need to explain what's wrong with this. I've e-mailed the NRA-ILA (the NRA's activist branch) to ask them about this gross oversight. I will update you when/if I get a response (they tend to be a bit slow to respond and will often times respond with a form letter).
Anyways, just an update/inquiry.

I called the campaign and the NRA on this
I talked to one of the CSR's at the NRA they said that all Presidential candidates were invited. He didn't know if any response was received from Ron Paul HQ or not. I called Paul's headquarters....they said Ron had another scheduled engagement on that date.
Although Paul certainly could have been spitefully excluded...I'll give the NRA the benefit of the doubt on this one.
PS. The NRA guy did say there were an awful lot of callers asking about why Ron Paul was not on the list of speakers...haha
You should be Outraged
If you didnt know.... When Ron Paul ran for re-election in his Texas district last election, the NRA turned on him and supported the Demo-cummunist opponent. His opponent was a fervant supporter of gun control, while RP obviously is a 2nd Ammendment advocate. This is why many former members of the NRA have switched the Gun Owners of America organization : http://gunowners.org/ . Its your call, if you look at thier 2008 candidates list and click on each, you will see the stance most likely taken by each candidate..
