This Fourth of July, 2008 I suggest that we, and a few million of our closest friends, hold a Martin Luther King type March on Washington. We'll ask Dr. Paul to be our keynote speaker. We'll stretch from the Lincoln Memorial to the Washington Monument and all across the reflecting pond and take our Country back! Let's see if the MSM can ignore that!!! Are you with me?

If "our brave young men and women in uniform" lead this march I'm in, for defending our Constitution is why they are paid and honored. But if our "bravest" refuse to participate, what's the point?
As long as those in Washington command the obedience of those entrusted with the force of coercion, our "marchturbating" might make us all feel good, but will do little towards substantive change.

Considering the fact that they already donate more to Dr. Paul than any other candidate, I would like to think they would support it. As a veteran, I would support it!

July 4 WILL NOT WORK
Even if the crowds don't prevent our marching, we'd get no media and have no room, and likely be denied a permit due to crowd management issues.
See below and review comments before posting or bumping this, and let's please refocus on July 14th or some other date that we may actually be able to make happen.

Stupid Question Time..........
I believe that all of the Republican primaries and caucuses will be done by June 3rd - we will know who the Republican nominee will be by then. What would we accomplish with a showing of numbers in mid July (especially if we do not have enough delegates to impact the final result)?

Reality check!
Let's say that Dr. Paul has millions of supporters, 10's of millions, but the voting machines NEVER show it. Let's say he does decide to run as a third party candidate because that is his only recourse. I hope this does not happen but, for arguments sake, what could we do besides have a March?

FWIW: Many of the marches were called, "Peace Marches," not "Anti War"
Some ideas: Why not advertise it as a non violent, non-partisan peace march? Why not just designate a regular day, any day, instead of it having it on a a symbolic holiday?
In the meantime, let's do our best right now to get Ron Paul as many wins (which means delegates) in the Super Tuesday primaries. The primaries are the priority.

We should at least begin by organizing marches in every state capital. Pick a day for everyone to do it simutaneously. Will we be ignored?

Dr Pauls views on the war is what drew a lot of people
to the movement, 70% of Americans want the war to end. It’s what the march needs to be about, anything ells would be marginalized.
Its a BIG issue...
one of the biggest we are dealing with! You can not hold a rally without it being addressed! The War and the Economy and our Civil Liberties are the trifecta of issues prevalent to be discussed.

I think making it an Anti-War rally...
I think making it an Anti-War Rally would loose the real message...
We are fighting for Liberty and return of the government to the people...
Massive anti-war protests aren't much to note...A massive march for FREEDOM is a whole different story.
The war is an issue, and the problem is the SYSTEM, protest the system not the issues the system causes.
I think Dr. Paul will define the message...

A Freedomstock? We could get some major bands to come and sell tickets all proceeds will go to Ron Paul. We could get someone to donate the land, donate the portapotties, we could have food vendors, etc, it might be huge.... Just a thought.

Utilize our meet up groups!
With our network of meet up groups we can raise money for transportation locally, go to every college campus in America and plaster the campus with flyers. Have every attendee register with the local meet up group and then we can give an accurate # to the press creating buzz, we can bring tents and sleeping bags, that would create such a overwhelming impact. 1 million protesters camping out in DC what a sight!
Whether the MSM recognizes us, or not...
it will be history!

I suggested the same march last month, let’s focus on the War!
The march needs to be focused, make it about the Iraq war, 70% of Americans are against it! We need to call it a catchy name so the msm can use it as a sound bit, the rest of the sheep will follow if we can spin it. This is the best way to get Ron Paul the press he needs.

I like your idea and see what your saying but I used to live in Maryland and have been to DC on July 4th... there was a smoke in with thousands of hippies getting stoned in the middle of the street and that didn't even make the news. There were literally millions of people representing every cause you could possibly think of.
I think a slow news day with a million people showing up would be better.
