We Made It.

Dang, folks, this really blows my mind, and as I watch this happen, it literally has me crying for joy. When I first saw Ron Paul's campaign asking for 1/2M in the last week, I thought: "Oh, boy, NOW we'll see what these folks are made of!" and I must admit I was scared. You see, I voted for RP in 1988 when he ran for President, and it was SUCH a bummer that he got no hearing and no support. Of course, there was no Internet then and people were only hearing about him through MSM, who were completely ignoring him, so it was a complete failure.

Our guy has now spent the last 20 years fighting to get heard, even joining the party of the Neocons and being the lone voice of liberty in Congress, voting against bigger government and warmongering and all the rest, often ALL BY HIMSELF against the most powerful people in the country, earning himself the derogatory (to them) nickname of Dr. No. and finally positioning himself where he can be heard, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive and encouraging.

But now he was asking people to dig into their pockets. Send him the money that they climb their asses out of bed and drag themselves to work to earn. The money that they feed themselves and their families with and buy birthday presents with and go to the movies with. WHAT NOW? Will real sacrifices be made to back up the incredible Internet support? I know that he will get no corporate support. He will only get money from the people that have been clamoring for his message. WILL they dig into their pockets to the tune of $500,000 in just a week? It just seemed like SO much money. So I watched. I waited. I worried. I watched some more. But I didn't have to watch or wait for long.

Suddenly, money came just POURING in. A thermometer was born to show progress, and it began shooting, shooting, shooting up. My God, by the end of the first day I realized that something big was happening, and when the goal was reached by the end of the second day I literally wept for joy. Holy crap! Can it really be true? Can my dream be coming true? The campaign revised the thermometer to DOUBLE the goal. There is so much time left, but will it trail off? These are people just like me; working stiffs, not corporate moguls who can throw down thousands without thinking. These folks are making sacrifices to donate to a POLITICAL CAMPAIGN! Like my own self, many of them never even considered doing that before, not having a candidate who spoke to them; who understood what it was like to be a free person; who didn't want to tell us how to live our lives, but to free us to do it.

And so I watched. I watched as it climbed and climbed and climbed. I watched in wonder and it hit the 1M mark before the deadline and still it keeps climbing. My God, something surely IS happening. Can it be? Can we win our country back? Our freedom, our liberty back? Maye we can, if we just spread the Ron Paul word. Maybe we just can. I can't wait to see what happens in the next week. We've proven that we DO care. Maybe we CAN win our country back. From my keyboard to God's ear.

Ron Paul is a Principaled Man.

Principle doesn't mean a thing until it costs you something. To stand on principle means that something must be sacrificed. It is a matter of honor. What value has mere money in the face of Honor and Principle? I am gladly giving every last cent I possibly can, and if I have it, it is his. Ron Paul represents Us. He is Us. I met him in Seattle and I can tell you, after shaking his hand, I knew he was sincere and honest, He looks you in the eye, and if you are sensitive enough, you can see the slight shyness, but far more humility than most possess, but highly covet. Ron Paul is all class. We ARE doing this thing! If you believe we can, we can. And enough of us believe. We Are.

Hey, if you get discouraged, call me. Ron Paul and I will lift you up. 360-934-5400.

appreciate all of that... but...

Most of the time I just *love* reading almost anything from the RPR. Now and then it does get awkwardly close to the old "cult of personality" though. I don't disagree with anything you said, and I don't accuse you of doing anything wrong... but, as an abstract principle, the more we focus on the man, and not the message or the phenomenon occurring across the country, the more we get into the pattern of hero-worship, and that's not what the RPR is about. Sure, we admire Ron, and we should. He's lived an admirable life. But so have many. Let's just keep a sense of balance about all of this even as we shake off the fear that's been shackling us for so long. Ron is the one whose name goes on the can, but it's allllllllll of us inside, for better or for worse! :-)

Ron is in "good company"

I am not a religious person, though my college degree was in theology from a very conservative, evangelical school.

Ron is in good company. Jesus (and I'm not making THAT leap in hero worship, by the way...lol) was also a man with a message, but who or what did people initially follow? Simple-- the man. Later, they began to emulate the teachings "of" that man which brought about the spread of the message (Christianity) when "the message" was all that they had. So it has been with most great movements. They began with a man who had a message.

Now, for the more secular minded (lol), in the realm of business and sales, we are told, "No one will ever buy anything 'from' you until they buy 'you' first." Again, people buy into a message, but only after they have bought into the person delivering the message and concluded that they were a good, honest and dependable source.

No matter which side of the fence you're coming from, secular or sacred, we all know the "chemistry" at work here. And you know what? Sometimes we all need a hero, so Ron's in good company :-)

You Have to Leave Room for All Supporters

I'm more into the message myself, but some people will be into the man. Actually, if he's to be elected, there may be far more in the second category than the first. Humans, in many ways are herd animals and tend to follow people they trust.

So, what I'm trying to say is you must leave room for people to follow the message AND the man. Many people will be attracted to RP by his honesty and sincerity. Many people just won't have the education to understand the intricacies of economic theory or constitutional law (I'm NOT saying that about anyone here, I'm just commenting on the general populace that must be convinced to vote for RP).

Like it or not, the MAN is going to be important as well as the message.

You are absolutely right,

You are absolutely right, but luckily this is something that RP consistently says - it is about the message, not himself.

I cried....in happiness...

As I watched the donations roll in...i donated a little over $90 in three installations....all I could afford. As I watched...the big tough guy that I think that I am...just broke down crying...tears streaming down my face...what the hell is that...freedom...liberty...really...people do still cherish it...

Thank Goodness! Long live the Revolution...we are gnats...but our swarm of gnats is getting larger and harder to ignore!

Me too!

A tear of joy welled up in my eye as I watched the thermometer pass $1M. I, too, voted for Ron Paul in 1988. What astounds me is how many young adults are supporting him.

Woo-hoo! I love the rEVOLution!
