You know they will report if we have another huge haul. You know in the past they have always talked at length about the symbolic tie that was "commemorated" to the date being chosen for the fundrasing event. A successful MLK day will force the MSM to associate Ron Paul with Martin Luther King before the eyes and ears of millions of Americans. This really puts the MSM in a quandary and serves as blow back for their underhanded Smear attempt. This could be viewed as reverse Psychopp blowback accept that we are sincere.

Using your name and reputation to raise money for minority causes might help to boost Ron Paul's reputatation. Using Martin Luther King's name to boost money for yourself, without asking for permission first, only makes things worse. It's like a company that tries to show off how patriotic they are and how much they love America, by selling cheap plastic flags that were made in China for $5 a pop. Ron Paul seems to think that most minorities are too dumb to understand the difference.
But this isn't a general rant against a GOP's hypocrisy and incompetence and general lack of respect towards minorities. No, it's a call to action. Right now, there is no indication that this upcoming money bomb is being sanctioned by the King family, and surely Ron Paul would have mentioned if there was was. Did Ron Paul bother to ask? My suggestion for anyone who finds Ron Paul to be repugnant is to contact the King Family Estate, and ask them how they feel about this news. Ask them if they approve of Ron Paul using Dr. King's name like this, ask them if they endorse Ron Paul's candidacy, and ask them if they will receive any of the funds that get donated to Ron Paul.
If it turns out that Ron Paul doesn't have the approval of the King Family Estate, then the blowback could be costly. It would show that Ron Paul's callous attitudes towards minorities wasn't simply a thing of the past, but something that continues to occur even now, even when he attempts to defend himself from these very allegations.
I may be a vegetarian, but I'll defend to the death my right to eat pork!

The troll calling needs to stop
Even people with their hearts in the right place can feel discouraged from time to time. Don't hate on people for expressing that feeling, just kindly ask them to buck up for the rest of us and explain your reasons for thinking the outlook is much better than they see it.
While I realize that it would be nice if we could just upmod people who have the best messages and downmod those we don't want to hear from, like on digg, YouTube or slashdot, in the meantime we'll simply have to make do with civility and empathy. Else you risk driving people away.

Im just concerned about a few things. We are just giving the msm alot of ammo is all im saying. I agree with Paul's vote against govt funding of Rosa park signs etc- but dont think for a minute tjhey wont say "oh- its not ok to spend tax dollars on Rosa Parks- but it IS okay to collect money via MLK"? We just need to anticipate our opponents moves is all. i WILL donate on that day to help its success- but only a fool will not be ready to take some heat over it- ive seen them do alot of damage with things way less controversial...just saying

Anything can be described with a negative spin by someone imaginative enough, but the same is true the other way around, and there is a situational logic that I think goes with having an MLK day fundraiser that can't be effectively spun against us.
The more counter to appearances a spin is-the harder it is to make it stick, a spin that requires a long explanation is unsuitable for the soundbites of TV media and is almost guaranteed to be a stillborn effort.
For reasons like this I think the MLK day donation can only be good for us. Paul's enthusiasm for it when speaking to the news people as I've seen on the YouTube from freeatlast2008.com will be recognized by anyone who sees it as genuine. The smear attempts have come hard and thick against Dr. Paul but they are not sticking to him. They look like opportunistic hits and are easily deflected by grassroots supporters. As they say in advertising, there is no such thing as bad publicity.

But I think it's beneficial to promote this event and heres why. We had two money bombs and we raised a higher total the second time. So what do you think the effect will be in the main stream media if we go down in donations?
They will spin this into less support so I think that we should all promote this event harder than the other two put together. This has to be a moment that we put forth maximum positive influences so lets all get on the same page with this. I will be donating through out the day
I like to be the first to donate at midnight then throughout the day I chip in some more. What have you done today to garner support for Dr. Paul? We all know what is at stake here. This isn't a hobby for me, this is my life and the type of country our children inherit from us. No other candidate will turn back the criminal power grab by the executive branch!! No one but Dr. Paul will restore our liberties by repealing the executive orders by Bush and Clinton.

Please meditate further on the political effects of M. Ghandi, M. King and J. Lennon, then come back to the forum and really participate in what is happening in this country.

The thing is, the required donation is only $10. It is not so much that we raise more money. MLK day was originally started as a supporter rally.
It is supposed to get a bunch of money from more people than ever before, pledging $10 (at least). It doen't HAVE to show money, just strength.
