The fact that the Democratic election is currently under scrutiny may help us here. I believe it is the office of the Secretary of State to insure that elections are properly conducted. In the case that a discrepancy is found on the Democrat side, it would be a big flag to check the Republican votes as well. Since much of politics revolves around money, I think the SOS would be happy to accept a "late" payment in full for the recount rather than having to take the money out of state funds because the entire vote count had been questioned as invalid. I personally think that if they are able to refund money when a candidate gains just a fraction to change the winner, a result that found the entire field out of alignment with what was reported should be paid for by the state as well.

here's the good news. If someone out there is trying to stop this recount, it means they don't have all their ducks in a row.

The Granny Warriors have their PayPal account suddenly froze, less than 24 before recount 3pm deadline in New Hampshire. Finding they can’t access their funds to stage a recount for Rep. Ron Paul. PayPal who is owned by eBay, Inc., also has ties to the Mitt Romney campaign. The CEO and President of eBay Inc, Meg Whitman, is known as a supporter of former Massachusetts' Republican governor Mitt Romney's presidential campaign in 2008 and is now on his "National Finance Team". She is also listed as Finance co-chair of Romney's campaign exploratory committee. This would also explain the sudden PayPal freeze of funds the Granny Warriors experienced. The recount for Republicans could possibly take away votes from Mitt Romney. Also possibly taking away from his 4 delegates.

Paypal has no privacy policy. Anyone with the letterhead 'investigator' can get anyone's PayPal history with a fee and a fax machine.

What in the hell ever happened to innocent until proven guilty? What ever happened to good common sense in this country? And they expect us to accept this horseshit.

One thing that I have yet to see mentioned is the current way amounts are 'investigated' and 'detained' when doing a bank transfer. At least not with any clarity.

Any amount over $9999.99 ($10k or more) that is wired from anywhere, to anywhere, automatically raises a flag with the feds. The FBI is automatically notified and the transfer delayed for an investigation.

It doesn't matter for what purpose the money was being moved - if it's over the specified amount, it gets investigated.

Many businesses and individuals who move large sums of money know this, and they take precautions to avoid the hassles. They simply move the funds $9999 a a time.

Large sums, such as mortgages and large corporate stock purchases, are often ignored by this system because they are already monitored and the purpose of these transfers is understood. If one bank sends another bank a lot of money, the 'paper trail' is already in place (as with mortgage/loan monies).

However, if an individual is moving large sums, or even a business that is not moving those amounts for a direct purchase of products, up go the flags.

A relative recently paid cash for a home. She set up the wire transfer to pay for it, and was advised to do so two weeks in advance to give time for the 'investigations' to commence. It didn't take long, but the funds were delayed by federal authorities while various banks and escrow offices were contacted to verify what the money was for, who it was coming from, and so on.

It is quite possible that this system, even if the speculations of 'PayPal is doing this on purpose' or 'It's a conspiracy by the feds' or 'It was an Islamic name' turn out to be a cause, would have delayed the transfer of funds anyway.

I'd suggest that the strongest course of action should be to follow the current path/belief/legislation that there need not be up-front payment for a recount, that only a guarantee of the funds needs to be in place. If the SOS is attempting, on purpose or otherwise, to circumvent this regulation (if it is true) then this case can be taken all the way to the Supreme Court if need be.

I understand the thoughts of those who say "We need to focus on the future, not the past". However, if we didn't take the past into consideration, this whole ideal would be pointless. If we can not, or will not, stand up for our rights while we're in the midst of this campaign, why are we here? This episode, if it turns out that rules are being broken or bent - regardless of the eventual outcome - is the definition of why we are here.

To chalk it up as a loss because 'we have more important things to worry about right now' is as good as saying 'we are fighting for our rights and our liberties - but only when it pleases us'.

I can see that there are people who are on top of this issue, who are putting their efforts into making sure it does not go unchallenged. How about we let them do what they need to do to get it done. How about we put full support behind their efforts, instead of saying "we dont have time for this, we need to keep our eye on the ball". If you dont have time to support them, then by all means feel free to leave them alone. No help at all is better than discouragement and ridicule. Staying out of the argument is better than arguing against the task.

Just because 'you' are either uninterested, have given up hope, or otherwise can not or will not participate in persuing the recount does not mean that someone else can't continue to do it. If you feel your efforts are best used toward future endeavors, by all means put them there. But dont discount those who have taken the other fork in the road, who are doing their best to cover that base.

Believe this: The longer this revolution continues.. the closer we get to November.. the more of these 'roadblocks' are going to be thrown onto the path.

What gives us hope, and provides us with the ability to march on, is the knowledge that no matter how many obstructions are put in our path, we have enough people on board so that some can 'stay behind' to clear those obstructions while the majority continue to move on.

To those who have 'remained behind' to deal with these issues, and to those of us who may yet end up in a head-on struggle with unforseen future problems (it may even be you), the rest of us owe it to them to keep up the pace, stay out of their way, encourage and support them as much as we can, and disallow any/all attempts at keeping this Revolution stagnant.
