Here's a link to the official recount tally. Seems only one county has been completed so far. It's late, so I'm going to be, but if anyone feels like computing the change in percentages that the changes in vote totals reveal I'd be curious. Doesn't seem to indicate any enormous changes so far though. Who knows if the ballots were even secure...

CNN stats versus recount?
WTF? From sos of state website Clinton received 9584 votes in HillsBorough county
From CNN clinton received 401 votes. I'm assuming the CNN site is wrong, but its sad to see just how lazy these news people are about their votes and projections.

Hillbourough county is larger than the hillsbourugh they are refering to on cnn's site.
Right now they are just counting the manchester part of the county which you can find at http://www.cnn.com/ELECTI...
Seems the rumors were right, the Republican votes you see there are just democratic republican votes (I'm guessing its democrats who choose the republican ballot, but their votes were put into the democrat machine)
Pauls Manchester total at cnn is 1230 votes, the 38 votes we see so far is just a small tip of that.

No if you see machine count to the left these we counted by the machine, and there is no reason to think they weren't put in the official tally. Just that they are mixed into the democratic stacks so they are being counted now.

Manchester is a big city, so I assume all these votes were counted by machines. Anyone else notice how many times the machines F-ed up the vote count? For all candidates.
In the past, during recounts of close elections and in audits of
process, the optical scanner counts have been almost perfect. What does happen is that they spit out ballots that are not marked correctly and those get recounted or added on.
Do we have observers on the ground in NH?
has anyone been in touch with the NH meetups and local coordinators to make sure we have people overseeing all this? Does anyone have those contact details?

It is supposed to be the DEM recount firs,t but they have counted GOP votes. I have heard nothing through the grapevine about getting observers for Albert until MUCH later.

Im not from NH but my guess is that...
the republican #'s you see are from people who were registerd Dem and then voted for a Republican to show their displeasure with the Dem Party.

Ha Ha Ha - its not about the votes its about the momentum - sure Ron Paul will get alot more votes in the recount and I bet places 4th or higher
but the election is about Momentum and the momentum comes from election night, not 2 weeks later.
This is a calculated move on those controlling the elections to keep momentum from Ron Paul, and probably even Obama.
So yes we will end up doing well in New Hampshire, but here are the states that will already have been voted on when the recount is finished.
Michigan, South Carolina and Nevada............hmmmm so much for any momentum in any of those states that we could have had with the correct count in NH in the first place.

If he could that that (above) I'm sure he might just as well said the same thing for machines that many of us have come to put our trust into also -- Diebold machines being the culprit at the moment.
There is a problem with the machines
There is also a problem with the chain of custody and accounting of total ballots printed.
Conclusion;
We know the totals are wrong.
We do not know in what direction or by what number they are wrong.
The election is flawed and we will never really know how flawed.

I've heard two awful ideas on this post so far
1 Don't call for outside observers I don't want the UN in my country settng standards on our elections. We are soveriegn we need no help. We can fix our own problems thank you.
2 who gives you or anyone else the right to force me to give up my personal property in order to vote. Its my right to vote and have my vote counted. I don't have to give up my God given biometrics to vote. I have not read this in the Constitution anywhere.
Sometimes I wounder if everyone understands what is even going on around them.

It looks like they just started counting the Republicans, so hold out judgement just yet. Manchester is NH's biggest city, so all the Repbulican's will get many more votes in each Ward.
I am a bit surprised of the discrepancy, though, and eagerly await more results.

Live Free or DieBold- but we're using it in the Nevada ads : ) its catchy huh! I'm serious about the waxpaper though-at least with some pressure from the ballpoint pen if you hold it under some light you can see faintly some voter intent.

Just about every recount has a different outcome from the original. How in the world does a "efficient machine" make the mistake over and over. It's like punching in 2 + 2 in your calculator and coming up with 5 every other time! Give me a break, New Hampshire! Most polling places are only count a couple of dozen votes, and they can even get that right.
This should be treated like instant replay in the NFL
If nothing is found to be in error, then the people who ask for recount should pay the fees associated with the cost to re-count. But, if errors are found.........the State of New Hampshire should eat the cost, or be forced to "replay" the vote!

WHY Are GOP votes turning up in DEM recount?
Dont they have different ballots for DEMS and GOP?

My understanding of recount ...
My understanding is that they are doing the DEM recount first, and then that will be followed by the GOP recount.
The SOS website even has this listed as the DEM recount.
So what I am wondering is:
How were these ballots sorted?
I vote. My ballot, whether I chose an R or a D ballot, is fed into the scanner and then what happens?
How are the ballots sorted into R and D piles?
Obvioulsy whatever sorting operation is used has a fairly high error rate.
Is it manual or does the machine scan some code on the ballot and do it?

Do bubble-sheet exam grading machines make thees kind of mistakes? No they do not.
Scantron
Scantron and other bubble sheet companies claim to be 99.98% accurate.
so far these machines are missing about .5% of votes.
I was able to screw with Scantrons inadvertantly.
I had some tests taken on scantrons where I filled in correct answer, then erased it and filled in an incorrect answer (due to stupidity). But the answer was still marked correct. I recieved a few points this way by accident. My best guesstimate was that maybe the scantron read A to E and if it sensed led residue on a correct answer before it got to the incorrect one I marked, it called it correct. Of coarse I never brought up my incorrect answers and they really weren't that many points (not enough to affect my grade) but it did get me really thinking. Also, I never had it work the other way around.

Thanks for the link. It does not really matter if we find more or less votes for Ron Paul. What does matter is there is enough discrepancy with these machines for all America to see that they do not work. I am sorry would you like a phone bill, electric bill, etc. that is off and makes mistakes (but generally accurate) - No. We expect machines to be accurate 100%. That is why we use them. This recount shows what it was suppose to and it is not over. These results are flawed with machines!!!! WHOOOOOHOOOOO

Actually, I think if you look at hand count vs. machine McCain was less % as well as Paul and Huckelberry. The big winner via the machines was Romney, which obviously did not help him!

How is it that practically every single total for every single candidate in every single ward is off by a few votes? Looks like ward 12 found 3 votes for Paul?

Obama +9 on recount
This is highly disproportionate (factor of ~4 by percentage). Either (a) Obama got to the machines, or (b) Clinton overstuffed before the recount, or (c) chimpanzees were running the show, or b and c are correct.
Put some legal logic here
If the recount is different than the initial, the company charged with counting is flawed (criminal or negligent).
The same company (if I'm not mistaken) prints up the ballots.
If they were criminal/negligent in the machine count, the same people might have been criminal/negligent in the ballot chain of custody (ie stuffing/replacing/destruction).
Therefore, a discrepancy between the machine and hand counts suggests the entire election is invalid.

There's always seem differences between counts. If they did 3 hand counts there would still be some differences. According to you all electionswould be invalid. The bottom line is the result is the same and people spent $55,000.00 to prove it.

There is no such thing as a verifiable election. We have exit polls, however, which also show discrepancy.

Am I the only person here who's seen a recount before? There's always differences between counts. The results don't change but the margin of victory does. Should people be more careful? Sure, but its human nature to make mistakes. Sometimes its the vote counters fault, sometimes its the voter's fault because he makes two marks on a ballot and the counter has trouble determining which mark the voter intended. It happens, in the next county some other candidates will pick up votes. Verifiable results? Yes. Exact to the last vote verifiable counts? No.
And "sometimes"...

Let's see the recount seems to indicate that McCain's vote count was depressed by the original count. McCain is the most pro-war candidate running. So the fraud must have been committed by those peace-niks!
