AUDITING YOUR ELECTION 101 By Andy Stephenson

I watched the 'Hacking Democracy'. This is a must for every American, regardless of your preference of candidate. We MUST take this process back from the secret corporations.

Like you don't already have enough to do...I'm suggesting we ALL take it on ourselves to do our own county audits. I found this link that gives some overview of the basics. Maybe Bev from Black Box Voting can give us some more pointers on her website.

I here by deputize all true patriotic Americans to hold your county accountable. Pick their trash; request documents suggested in the above article and look for discrepancies. We all can blow this thing wide open. Donate to Black Box Voting.

If we don't fix the vote, it don't matter how much you promote Ron Paul. He will lose. This seems to be a parallel strategy at the same time we promote what Ron Paul stands for.

darkreading.com: Did Hackers Win It for Hillary

I found this article today that I find very disturbing:

Did Hackers Win It for Hillary?

As rival calls for recount in New Hampshire, TV documentary claims voting machines were easily hackable

JANUARY 14, 2008 | The voting may be over in New Hampshire, but the debating isn't, as pollsters and rivals question the validity of Hillary Clinton's stunning upset victory last week.

According to reports, some of those who were surprised by the primary's results are now suggesting that the voting systems may have been hacked.

Pre-primary polls showed Senator Barack Obama firmly in the lead to win the vote, which Clinton won by a figure of 39 percent to Obama's 36 percent. Pollsters said their results had never been so far off before. A watchdog group called Black Box Voting noted that the 19 percent of manually cast ballots showed a marked difference in results from the 81 percent of votes that were tabulated electronically.

Following the vote, Clinton rival Dennis Kucinich called for a recount, while others, including a television documentary, revived some of the old claims against the Diebold voting machines, including allegations that the devices are easily hackable.

Another group of protesters noted that many problems were reported with the Diebold machines on the day of the primary, and that Diebold technicians were forced to break the security seals on some devices in order to repair them. Some claimed that a hack might have occurred at that point.

"Something stinks in New Hampshire," a commentator posted on the popular site Americablog.com.

recount in my ward

on the recount page (http://www.sos.nh.gov/rec...) it says 2 and then 6 for Ron Paul. Does that really mean there were only 6 votes for Ron Paul? I know 4 of the people! Me, my husband, and two of our friends. It seems crazy to think there were only 6?? And that really, only 2 of us were counted?!? I put my paper in upside-down accidentally but the man standing there said the machine would still read it. YEAH RIGHT!!!

That is CRAZY.

Those Votes are DEM

Those PAul votes are showing up in a DEM recount ...
What gives?

Why?

Why can't we use real paper ballots that are counted at each physical polling place in front of all parties and open to whomever wishes to watch?

I write security software and do a lot of best practice papers for a company I work for.

Doing an accurate count could be like:

- ballots should be serialized, numbered sequentially, used in order (Ballot IDs)
- polling places record ballots with what BallotIDs they used and record hourly at what BallotID they are at with a timestamp and signature
- voters can tear off paper stub of Ballot ID of the ballot they are using for proof of their unique vote
- ballot is inserted into digital counter which prints a receipt of the ballotID, date, timestamp, and the vote counted, voter verifies result and presses ok to certify vote is correct, at which point, vote is counted.
- ballots are kept in secure box of digital counter for later for hand count verification
- the box has several keys that requires a representative from each party to be able to open the box, such as a padlock that party person provided
- a tamper proof seal with the signature of each representative party official should be on the box so it can be easily detected if altered
- a security camera could record the box(es) so it's in plain sight at all times and could even be broadcast on the web
- ballots are hand-counted in public to be certified, such as an auditorium and that is the only time at which the box is opened and seal is broken

If people knew it took a hand count to certify, there would be little reason to attempt to alter any machine count.

Best Solution!

This is the best solution I have ever seen proposed!

I would add to this a printout/list of all the unique Ballot IDs and its corresponding vote. This list could be posted on the web so voters can cross check to verify that their vote was counted and notify officials if there was an error.

agreed

Oh yeah. Easily the best solution. Have each citizen verify their own vote was counted. Easy to implement, transparent, guaranteed accurate. What's not to like about this system?

In NY we have the old Voting Machines - They Work!

Seriously, they are the same machines as when my mom took me to vote for Reagan when I was a little kid.

Totally analogue. No hacking allowed!

I live on Long Island, so I don't know about the rest of the State.

I may be a vegetarian, but I'll defend to the death my right to eat pork!

Walk in your City & County Clerks offices

Be a regular at your City & County clerks office, be polite, freak them out ask questions. Tell them you'll be back for more information.

I read that link

It doesn't look like much of an audit. Like wearing a ribbon for a cause, doesn't accomplish anything but makes the person think they are actually doing something.

I started a thread earlier that showed how to do a real audit. And it is nothing like described by that link.

You decide. The above link or http://www.opednews.com/a...?

Elections

Might as well stop the elections right now, unless the machines are all removed, paper counting with proper procedure, meaning impossible to tamper with must be immediately setup. There should be no secrecy in an election, the public should and must be allowed to be part of whatever procedure they deem necessary. What is the use to continue? America should have the best and most reliable way of counting all votes correctly, if this little requirement of the "Worlds best democracy" cannot even fulfill this requirement, forget your Democracy, forget your elections, what's the use when private corporations "count" the votes and are the ones to first receive the totals before any public official, useless. This election so far has proven to be totally unreliable and a waste of time and money to campaigns when your hard work will be decided by private companies who have been proven in high court to be totally unreliable. Stop the elections until they do the proper adjustments, if not, it is totally useless to hope to get a correct a correct voting count. Kucinich, did not ask the recount for himself, because his numbers won't change much, he did it for America's Democracy, and any candidate that does not agree, is suspicious to me.
