Forget Voter Fraud: Half our vote was lost to Wasted Vote Syndrome!

Here's a critical stat you may have missed in the Michigan exit poll:
12% of respondees said Paul was the "most likely [candidate] to bring needed change". Very close to Huckabee's 16%.
Great!
But of those Paul supporters, only half (48%) actually voted for Paul.
Oh. Is that normal?
No. Those who said Romney was most likely to bring needed change voted overwhelmingly (88%) for their man. McCain and Huckabee supporters were similarly solid.
So what does this mean?
These people were essentially asked: "Did you vote for the candidate you think is best?" Unfortunately half of Dr. Paul's supporters did not. This is the classic symptom of "Wasted Vote Syndrome".
Because of this, Dr. Paul lost about 58,000 votes in Michigan. Worse, they didn't disappear into thin air - they went to other candidates.
So here's a little perspective:
"Voter fraud" = possibly 1-10% of Paul's reported vote, if you can prove it
"Wasted Vote Syndrome" = documented 52% of Paul's potential vote (108% of Paul's reported vote!) VOLUNTARILY given directly to the competition that no recount can correct!

Why don't we canvass on election day by handing out sets of "balls", "guts", and "nerves" to the sheeple entering the polling places. Either that or we could hand them a mirror and tell them to look into it before voting AND after.
The problem is NOT us Ron Paul supporters. It's the brainwashed, cowed, SHEEPLE in need of a touch of conviction and integrity. All our work can't give them that in a few short months. A big time education effort is going to take a long time.

The other guys know this. Ron Paul has 2 times the popular vote as Rudy but you don't see Rudy people saying this feces.

I just caught myself!
I even just caught myself, an educated and concerned citizen, in a moment of superficiality. I was thinking about how I was going to have to vote for local judges and stuff the same day I vote for Ron Paul, but I don't know anything about the candidates. So my first thought was "well that one guy has about a million pretty red signs around town. He must be good." It kills me that I thought those words. If I can fall so easily into that kind of thought process, think how easy it must be for the average citizen who hasn't been thinking about this election every waking minute for the last month. We definitely need move visibility and we definitely need Ron Paul to be a household name. So...back to work.
I agree with OP....
there are lots of people that no matter how much we talk to them, they will not vote for Ron Paul. However the trend of not getting voters who are already receptive to Ron Paul's ideas is a disturbing trend. I am sure HQ has seen these numbers and judging from the rumblings coming out of NV it sounds like they might have done some things to correct this.

I just saw a report on "Headline News" that Dr. Paul could WIN Nevada...That would be a huge Boost and set the Main Stream on it's ear !!! Go Las Vegas, Reno and Lake Tahoe Meet Ups !!!! Sure would help us here in Florida ....

i've lost count of the number of people I've encountered who support ron paul, love his policies, think he's the smartest guy in the game, but aren't going to vote for him.
why? because they think its a wasted vote. They want to go with "the winner."
It's far worse than voter fraud, because this is coming directly from the american people.
I'm convinced it's some kind of primal psychological need to fit in with the majority opinion.
That's a very good observation
and exactly the kind of thing we need to do. The only one who suffered worse than we did in that area seems to be the ghoul, in both cases we lost votes to Romney, which confirms how people like to vote for who they think is going to win (as if they think someone will show up the next day and give them a freaking prize!).
All anyone has to do to see how true is it to look at our own ranks, and how so many are (wrongfully of course) demoralized by the lower numbers than they hoped for. Its up to us more intelligent people to rise above that and to all work twice as hard now - I know I am and we're gonna keep doing better each time, with each race.

Nope. They are "superficial" voters.
The direct opposite of the "apathetic" voter (who feels he cannot influence anything, and really does NOT want to bother since politicians are "all the same") -- the "superficial" voter WANTS to vote... but doesn't really want to go to the trouble of actually doing much research on the candidates...
So, they go to the polls as the most flakey of creatures, the "flippantly undecided" voter. They have a short list of candidates that they kind of well, "like" (hair, sign logo, crocodile tears, whatever) -- and then play eenie-meenie-miny-moe; OR they join the bandwagon of whoever the media says is the current "surging" candidate.
They really do NOT determine any elections -- all they do is magnify or intensify or multiply the MOMENTARY CURRENT choices of their fellow citizens (those who DID decide a few weeks or days earlier) and/or they reinforce a falsity presented to them by the media.
But oh, yes... they DO exist (and in reality they are probably in the majority -- 50% to 60% of the voters -- hence the differing "winners" in the various states).
And the "CommonSense/Accountability" flyer is the way to emotionally "turn" them to RP. (It is specifically AIMED at this type of voter, just as the "Did You Stop Voting?" flyer is specifically aimed at the apathetic.)

I'm not saying it is wrong, just that I'm not fully convinced.
A victory by Ron Paul in some state would go a long way towards convincing people they are not throwing away their vote.
The other possibility is to have the Lame Stream Media quit calling him a long shot with no chance of winning. You're guess is as good as mine to figure that one out.

Wasted vote syndrom is more likely than vote fraud.
There's a lot of scrutiny on the vote count. lot more than other years. Not that it cant happen, but I'd bet my dollars wasted vote syndrome is stealing more votes than possible vote fraud. Especially in wishy washy (undecided) voters.
Most effective way to combat it is to target that issue in the voters mind.
Put the question in the voters minds that the other candidates are a wasted vote.

Show the Docs voting record in comparison to the constitution.
Show the opponents voting records in comparison to the constitution.
Ask the viewer who's vote are they wasting ? when they vote for Rudy McHucamoroni

Is that why people donated $60,000 or so? To ensure a verifiable, accurate, and open count? I bet if you ask those people many of them would say they are rescuing all the Paul votes that were "lost". If Paul got 15% no one here would be breathing a word about a recount. So let's not be self-righteous - our goal is to win votes, not count angels on the head of a pin.
