I don't know if the letter is a HOAX but what the hell, I ran with it.
After reading this several times here are my observations.
Mr. Thiel endorsed Dr. Paul in December.
In the afore mentioned article the author states that they are producing 3 videos about Dr. Paul. Mr. Thiel was co-producer of "Thank You for Smoking" a 2006 movie that received a Golden Globe nomination.
The article mentions being in broadcasting. Mr. Thiel has been a television commentator for C-SPAN's "Washington Journal" and PBS's "Debates Debates." His pro-freedom articles have appeared in such distinguished publications as The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Times, and Policy Review.
The article talks about media bias, remember the ABC/Facebook debate? Mr. Thiel was an early investor in Facebook and has made big bucks from the deal. I would imagine Mr. Thiel being a Paul backer was pissed after that debacle.
Mr. Thiel has invested millions in medical research another tie to Dr. Paul? One video mentioned by the article was “The American Healthcare Crisis, a Real Solution.”
Mr. Thiel is a venture capitalist heavy into tech companies, and we know how Dr. Paul feels about an open and free internet.
When UPI asked about his political beliefs, the 35-year-old Thiel said, "Well, I was pretty libertarian when I started [in business]. I'm *way* libertarian now."
This was added to wikipedia this morning so take with a grain of salt.

Until something official comes from HQ this is foolishness IMO.
But such a "Billionaire in the Wings" fantasy an obvious ploy to attempt to get Dr. Paul's supporters to drop the ball, kick back and wait for a flood of money, and not take our current Money Bomb seriously.
Our January 21st Money Bomb is crucial.
We should be each donating as if we are the only financial support he is going to have going into BIG TUESDAY.

Wikipedia says that today January 18, 2008, The Sons of Liberty, a Political Action Committee endorsing Ron Paul, was created with $80 million of Peter's own money.
There are ties between Pat Buchanan and Mr. Thiel.
There has to be some reason why Pat did what he did when he did it.

Some very interesting points BUT
Please, don't count on it! There are principles which Dr. Paul follows and am not sure this "documentary" would be possible w/campaign laws/rules.
