Can someone here get this to RP before his debate? Jane?
Some folks have taken the time to put forth some really good thoughts here.
RP really needs to do something to stand apart from his competitors in this most important debate.
I think we have a pretty good test audience here and,I am not trying to demean RP but help..
Would it not be a great thing for this discussion forum to help RP get his points together, and really shine...not just through our rose colored glasses....
Jane..... I have thanked you for all you have done...I have never attacked you or called you names.
I understand you have brought back info from the official campaign to us here.
Couldn't you bring something back to them, from us?
Thanks for your time.....
If you had RP's ear for 2 minutes before the upcoming debate.
What would you say?
Like a trainer walking a fighter to the ring, psyching him up before the big fight.
What bullet points would you give him, knowing ALL you NOW know, and seeing ALL you have seen to date.....What would you say??
I regret (having been a supporter for many years) not saying certain things to him when I finally had the opportunity to meet him, and a good portion of his family at the Ft. Worth straw poll.
My biggest hope is that this thread is given to him,or at least a summary of the most popular points.
After all we are the best debate coach, even though a bit biased.
I think that supporters can be open minded enough to be impartial to adapt the message for the intended target audience..
How should he deal with the snickering, moderators, and contestants?
How should he deal with the obvious lack of speaking time he is given?
How should he address the complete media blackout,in the last few weeks?
How should he GRAB THE AMERICAN PUBLIC BY THE LAPELS AND WAKE THEM UP??
Remember...you are walking him to the ring..you don't have much time to get your points across...

I Don't Know Why...
But I'm always nervous on debate nights. I shouldn't be, but still I am. Since the very first debate at the Reagan Library (the last one I watched live), I was nervous for the Doctor and the trials he would have to endure. I was afraid they would succeed in trivializing his positions. Well, they tried...and failed.
Each subsequent debate I thought that they would finally manage to discredit him. They tried harder...and they failed.
By now I should know that he absolutely cannot be rattled. I have had the utmost confidence in not only his policy positions, but in his ability to deliver in debate.
Yet I am still nervous. What will they try tonight? I am anxious to know yet scared to find out. Yet there is one thing about tonight that is certain.
Once again they will try...And once again they will fail.
The Doctor Is In...Time For Your Medicine.
Give 'em hell Dr. Paul!

Find something one of the others had said or says that makes sense. Agree with them, compliment them, and gang up on the others with that person.
Yes I am assuming there is at least one issue like this, maybe there isn't, but it would get Ron a lot of press, and play down the crazy "lone" candidate hype that gets piled on him by FAUX news etc.
How to turn Ron Paul into Mitt Romney.
No thanks. Give me the off-the-cuff, plain spoken Paul.
He doesn't need our advice.
I already sent him mine
I already sent him my suggestions for good debating.
oh...thanks....
mind telling us where we can send OUR suggestions? Couldn't find on the official site...
As somebody once said, "It's the economy, stupid!"
One of the things that made Reagan so powerful was his ability to connect directly with the American people at a personal level. I'm sure his acting background had something to do with this, but I know RP has this ability in him too. I would LOVE to see him conjure up a little of this Reagan magic by finding which camera is on him, grabbing both sides of the podium, staring straight into the lens, and telling the American people something like this:
"When I mention abolishing the IRS and the income tax, many people think this is some pie in the sky notion. Well let me tell you a few things. Do you realize that this illegal and unconstitutional tax does nothing but make the people who collect the tax and the people at the Fed rich? That's right, the vast majority of these funds never make it back to you in government services. Instead, they go to pay off the interest on the national debt - a debt that was not created by you good Americans, but rather by the people you elected and trusted to handle this money for you, and they have failed you miserably. As for the interest payments, who do you think collects this money?... the private bankers who have mismanaged our monetary system ever since 1913. Well, it's time to end this scam. Stop and think for just a moment about what you could do for yourself and your family with the ten or twenty or thirty thousand dollars or more that you pour into this system every year... Do you think you could afford better health care? A nicer home? More free time with your family? And what about the benefits to your local economy? And our country's economy as a whole? So, please don't let anyone tell you that ending this scam is not doable. In fact, I propose that it is the only way to save our economy from the inevitable collapse that is so obviously looming on the horizon as evidenced by the events of this past week."

How to support RP's cause every day:

$20 Billion to Saudi Arabia
Last time Dr. Paul had the attention of all when he came out with the famously quoted "Let's see if I've got this right... we borrowed $10 billion from China to give to a dictator who overthrew and elected government while we're losing all these lives spreading democracy in Iraq. What's going on here?" Well, I sure hope he comes out with how BUSH JUST GAVE $20 BILLION IN ARMS (including precision guided weapons) to SAUDI ARABIA!!!??? The people that attacked us on 9/11 WERE SAUDI'S!!! WHAT IS GOING ON HERE??????????????
And where is all this money coming from? Where's the money from the massive stimulous package coming from? STOP THE INSANITY!!!!!!! How irresponsible are they going to get?
Dr. Paul, here’s a fact to use tonight:
********John McCain touts his record as a spending ‘sheriff’ who “saved the taxpayers $6 billion on a bogus tanker deal.”********
See January 10, 2008 debate transcript
http://www.thestate.com/p...
*******But this crowning accomplishment of Senator McCain’s spending cuts is dwarfed by the nearly $500 billion he costs taxpayers by aggressively supporting the Iraq War. In fact, the $6 billion he saved in pork, would pay for just 3 weeks of our Iraq occupation. Three weeks, out of the more than 250 weeks we have been there.******
Proof at wikipedia:
* The Iraq War started on March 20, 2003.
* It has been conducted for 250 weeks as of Thursday, January 10, 2008.
http://en.wikipedia.org/w...
As of December 5, 2007, the US Government had spent $474 billion on the Iraq War, more than $1.94 billion per week.

Wake-Up and smell the Greed!
Wake-Up and smell the Greed! Before it’s too late! Are you a home owner that has lost 10%-15% or more of your Homes Equity? Better think again. Ron Paul knows this!
1.The Lenders/Banks must have a plan in place to write-off the (loans) and then go back and re-sell all of the foreclosures for a huge profit, when the market turns around, or they do not have qualified staff to do the work-outs, which is in the best interest for both the lender and the borrower especially in the current market conditions period.
2.Let me see if I can help with this big ass problem (just IMO), people need to open up their own minds and stop thinking that everyone in trouble with their home loans are spectalator's, because there are many-many other reason and that is not always the case. Look people this meltdown is not going away for at least 2-more years and if you take a look at the market today and still think this will work it’s way-thru by itself think again (that will be way-way to-late).
If this is not address we as a country will crash and burn together (IMO)! (Note: This also means The World Market).
Take it from me as an X-Realtor making a good living and having to return to work in the, “Do you Speak Spanish Manufacturing Business” with a much, much lower income.
(To the good Dr. Paul) Regarding the Mortgage meltdown in this Country, it’s just not that easy to say to millions of home owners losing their greatest asset, that it’s a business contract and there is nothing I can do as a leader.) Although I do agree with the statement regarding any type of government bail out, but I also do think if you would say on the other hand, (There is no reason in the world that good minded business people, wouldn’t have any reason in the world not be able to work together to come up with some type of fair contract terms, and especially under the current market conditions. (This puts the burden back on the banks not you as a leader.) This type of added statement will bring more voters your way. (I am voting for you no matter what period).
Sorry to say but we will crash and burn if the banks don’t start putting 100% of their efforts into the loan work-outs with their borrowers.
Home Loan Rate’s are down to 5.5% right now.
The stock market nor the job market can not support 10%-15% interest rates on home loans period.
Good Luck tonight my man!

Oil/Gas Prices
It seems no one is speaking about this issue in the debates....
I would love to see Dr. Paul deliver his ideas/solutions to this problem that all Americans are faced with on a daily basis!
Other than that my suggestions would be stick to the message! No need to get Dr. Paul flustered! He needs to sound rational and confident in his message! Not on the defensive!
Two Questions
To McCain- Where are you going to get the money to continue the war?
To All Candidates- Will you instate the draft? If not, how do you plan to continue the war?
____
Two home runs for Dr. Paul without spending hardly any time talking.
Never Ask A Question You Don't Already Know The Answer To.
Go President Paul!
Call them out!
He needs to call them on their false promises and past practices.
Mccain - brokered the amnesty bill both times, even though the public that voted for him was vehemently against it.
Romney - more liberal than Kennedy but is trying to change his stripes for the public.
Huckabee - Raised taxes significantly in Arkansas as well as used their tax dollars to build a Mexican consulate to make it easier for illegals to flood our country.
Giuliani - Let Giuli just open his mouth. The only time he does is to switch feet anyway...
Dr. Paul needs to show that he is the only candidate with an actual policy for economic renewal...and point out that the others wouldn't know economics if it was stenciled on their foreheads.
He needs to point out that he is the only one who will actually deal with illegal immigration, and highlight that his plan does not involve brokering an amnesty deal with the Democrats.
And while we all know that foreign policy is the main culprit for our woes, he needs to not hammer it quite as much as he usually does. Mention it, but do not belabor it.
He really needs to make it obvious that the other candidates are Democrats in Republican suits by highlighting the differences (of which their are many).
Until the Election is Won!
Chaplain Steve
Ron Paul - Lion of the Constitution
yes...call them out...
he has to STAND OUT because Rudy is going to try and steal the show....
Where are you going to get the money?
I just want Ron Paul to ask mcCain and the others this questions:
"you want to be in Iraq for another 100 years, how do you plan on getting the money for that?"
Then I'd love to watch mcCain respond
This Would Surely Be His Face
Vote RON PAUL 2008
__________
http://www.michaeltotten....
His answer would most likely be 'from the fools that voted me President'
I would love to hear this...
(looking at all the other candidates on stage) "YOUR foreign policy is making enemies faster than we are killing them. YOUR solution has been to invade, bully, meddle, and intimidate. Our troops should be HONORED, not ABUSED by sending them on reckless foreign adventures that bankrupt not only our Nation's prosperity, but our soul."
"YOUR foreign policies have been divisive and offensive. When I am President, our military will have the equipment and respect that they deserve. They will never again be thrust into ill-conceived, ill-defined, never-ending wars that impoverish us while putting every American at ever greater risk of retaliation."
"America will lead by example. We will never again go to war under false pretenses. But let no-one underestimate our resolve: Any attack on America will unleash our full might."
SPOT ON!
While my husband and I giggled at the first paragraph TY, the second is absolutley spot on...... direct, firm, apologetic for present action, reassuring and a warning to those who may wish to harm America. It says that we will be as militarily strong as ever even though we will be changing our approach.
I like it as both a proud citizen and as a woman.
I would love
for someone that has the ability, to email this to Dr. Paul....It would take him 30 or 45 minutes to read, and would be helpful..There are some great answers here. After all he DID say he was interested in our input. I just can't find where to give it on his website...That is why I am asking Jane to help, either she is out of touch, or ignoring this post....
Dr. Paul...
Dr. Paul has been running political campaigns for over three decades.
Dr. Paul has a history of campaigning where he is Mr. Nice Granpa spreading his message innocently at first and then, towards the end and at certain critical points he goes on the attack out of the blue to stir up his opponents supporters.
Wait for it.. it's coming! You build the base of supporters first, then you wait for the field of opponents to narrow, then you begin focused attacks during the last period on the one or two remaining opponents. Must avoid the temptation to attack too early with too many targets. ;-)

You get up on stage and you tell the truth! There is no remembering and you must understand that Dr. Paul realizes that everyone is seeing what is going on and they are not happy!
Don't forget the boycott! I was going to buy some Dawn dish soap and my wife reminded me it was on the boycott list!
Have local shirt makers make shirts that say,"Boycott cress and Fox news!" and then say I support ron paul! you would be surprised of the responses you will get!
Do one business at a time! Don't let this boycott die! Keep it going after the election! This is personal now and we need to stay the course on this boycott!
Does anyone have the comprehensive

Go President Paul!
Where's WalMart?
How come Walmart is not on this list? They destroy more of America than any other single company.
there is a difference in being spontaneous, and scattered...
Does the title of this thread say "please highjack" because I can't see it on my screen...
Ron Paul does his best without a prepared script
He knows his subject matter so well, that when thrown, what looks like a curve ball to most, he knows where to swing. You can't change a 72 year old man, and I'm thankful for that. The fact that he is steadfast, and deep rooted in his beliefs is what gives him the solid platform of confidence. No doubt, they'll throw some trivial, no win, questions at him. I bet they're having a lot of fun, picking questions to ask Dr. Paul. They still haven't made him stumble........but I imagine the attempts are not going to let up anytime soon. I think the subject matter has turned to the economy. I'd rip the Presidents plan of sending people a $500 rebate, or whatever. This is a desperate attempt to hide real problems. I'd explain how the government manipulates the stock market with the Plunge Control Team. I'd stick to "real people" issues:
Eliminate the Federal Income taxes by reducing foreign aid to everybody! Let's keep our money at home. Say it over and over. If we quit giving Billions and Billions away, we can do this.
Castrate the Federal Reserve, and let's take control of our currency back from International Banking Interests.
Point out, how Dr. Paul is the only one on the Stage that does not believe that the Council of Foreign Relations should guide our government. People are tired as hell of this........blurt it out! It's an advantage. They're trying to squash Dr. Paul anyway. You've got nothing to lose, and everything to gain.
Allow young people to opt out of Social Security.
Eliminate Federal Depts. of Homeland Security, Education, Energy through acts of attrition....no new hires. Don't scare people with federal layoffs. Let the depts. slowly die on the vine.
State Issues: Education, Health Care (not a federal obligation) Gay Rights, Religon, Welfare, Prisons, and a whole host of others that will empower State Legislatures to decide their level of committment.
Border Security: Why not mention "Our National Gaurd, brought home from overseas will be deployed in a newly built string of boarder control points along the Southern US boarder. Great for the States of TX, N.M., AZ (Ha Ha McCain), CA. People want ACTION on this, and all they get is rhetoric. Illegals will be given a free shower, meal and returned home.
A foreign policy of "walk softly and carry a big stick" . People would love to hear that again! We're not walking softly.......we're international bullies.
Mention the Council of Public Integrity's report of all the Bush & Co. lies and deception. These people really did their homework, and it just goes to prove that in this information age, your actions are documented all the way-especially in politics.
All in all, I'm not worried about Ron Paul's performance. But the race is getting heated, and Ron has sooooo many topics from which to draw. I'm sure the debate host will try and steer Ron away from his big points, but he needs to do what everybody else does, and go to his points anyway. Good Luck Ron Paul!!
no one is asking him to read a prepared script...
These are simply outside observations from others that could be helpful if he went over them. He could pick and choose as he pleases.
Every major corporation has a test group for their,products,commercials,propaganda,etc..
They use polls to measure what is working and what is not. They spend millions of dollars to make sure they are hitting the target...
There are many people that care how he does in the debates,as it is really the public test.
I have yet to hear someone say" I saw/heard him on one of his commercials and decided to join." It has always been "I saw him in the debate."
I would for one, would like to see this forum used for something other than preaching to the choir. No disrespect intended...
Draw Distinctions on Economy and Immigration
Ron Paul needs to start drawing distinctions between the others and himself on issues such as the economy and immigration. Almost all of the other candidates have a fatal flaw with these two issues. He needs to repeat his play of quickly deflecting moot issues such as "Will you run as a third party", "Would you break with your supporters that believe in 911 conspiracies", and "Are you electable". I am sure he is going to get the Ross Perot "You People" treatment in tonights debate over the news letters published in his name, but he needs to continue to deflect these superficial questions and focus on the economy and immigration. In cases where others such as Huck start to steal his talking points ( abolish the IRS), he needs to create an exchange on these stolen talking points such as what happened between him and Guiliani on 911. He needs to introduce some advance points on the issue in these exchanges that are still understandable by most of the viewers. This would put the others on the defensive as they most likely will not have an understanding of the fundamentals of the issue.
On another thought, I spoke with my brother, and he was unsure who he would support in the Republican lineup. I stressed Ron Paul, but I think the media's treatment of Paul has ingrained the feeling of "No Chance" in his neural network. If you repeat something enough times people start to believe it. This has been the playbook of the MSM for sometime. We have to counter this as much as possible and keep up the hope and belief that we will win.
excellent points.
He needs the sort of exchanges that he had with Ghoulianni,to start a firestorm in the press. They would have to run it. Another boring show, will just be ignored...
When McCain makes a joke
When McCain makes a joke directed at you, say "Jokes from a man who recently admitted that he doesn't understand economics? The only thing more ironic than that would be electing him President."
I agree
Someone MUST ask MCCain how he expects to run a country when he doesn't understand economics. McCain would be a disaster
That joke is coming from one of the original "Keating 5"
Their idea to solve the S&L crisis (1980s) was to ask for campaign contributions money from the institutions that were involved in the collapse in order to cover up the issue by removing investigative pressure,
Keating 5 members from the Savings&Loan collapse: Alan Cranston (D-CA); Dennis DeConcini (D-AZ); John Glenn (D-OH); John McCain (R-AZ); and Donald W. Riegle, Jr. (D-MI
http://en.wikipedia.org/w...
When McCain makes a joke
Excellent, fossten. I hope he uses that one!
When McCain or any other
When McCain or any other candidate snickers or laughs at Ron Paul...he should say "when you laugh at me you are laughing at the American people and the Constitution!"
Seperate yourself, avoid specifics
Don't argue the specifics of economics with these slimes, they will have better talking points and smoother sounding deliveries...we're talking about a very complicated topic. I don't want to hear of the Austrian business cycle, it's far too complicated to explain to the uneducated (not the American people, the others on the stage) in a 2 minute answer.
Put all those slimy talking heads in the same cage as Hillary and Barack. Draw distinctions between every other person running and yourself. Start running for president tonight!
Ron, you have to make this a 3-way battle...on this side, you have heavy socialists, on this side, the lighter socialists. On this side, the dems want to tell you medicine is best left to government, on this side, medicine is best left to HMO's. On the other side, they want to tell you what you can and can't put into your body...actually, that's on both sides. Then you have Ron Paul...the anti-socialist, the man who belives medicine is best left to doctors and patients, and the man who tells you that YOU are responsible for what you put in your body. It's freedom vs. anti-freedom across the boards, and Dr. Paul you have to make sure everyone in America knows this.
How about this for a talking point. "America, if you are really as fed up with politics, with the ineptness of government, with recessions, and with taxes as you claim to be...stop electing people who pay lip service and put a man in the White House who lives by these principals. I believe in the golden rule...and I wouldn't want you to steal my money, I wouldn't want you to take away the freedom that is endowed upon me, and I wouldn't want you to send me across the world chasing invisible demons at my own peril...I believe that I wouldn't want this done to me and I promise that I won't do it to you. I'm Ron Paul, and I make it my life's goal to maintain the values that have made this nation great and I'd like to return us to those values."
Oh...and if you get a chance...when Rudy starts snickering at your rational solutions to real problems...walk over and backhand that smug look on his face. Wait...Ron's dedicated to non-violence...oh well, it felt good to type it anyway.
When Rudy starts talking ...
... Ron should start snickering.
Sauce for the goose. B-)
Ought to be useful against the rest of 'em, too, when they say something particularly stupid.
Or make some comment about the snickers and hyenas.
Or say it will be a pity when Rudy drops out because he'll have to learn to work without the laugh track. B-)
He needs to go on the attack!
Not personal attacks, but to state why he is right and they are wrong, especially on the economy. Single the others out if needed, but explain why this stimulus plan they are all advocating is merely a band aid. And before he gets through he needs to challenge the others to respond to his statements. The moderators of all of the debates so far have been very accepting of the back and forth segments that "make for good TV". So Ron needs to point the finger at the other clowns positions and make them answer HIS questions, not the moderators.
If he can single each of them out, either individually or collectively, it will turn into Ron Paul vs. the others. And that's exactly what Ron needs this debate to be.
The money is collapsing
The money is collapsing because they've been printing money to spend and diluting everybody's savings and pensions. So they propose to fix this by printing more and giving it away?
All that does is dilute the rest of the money the taxpayers have saved. They don't have any more than they had before, and if they spend this "stimulus" rather than putting it in their savings or retirement plans they're just spending money they had decided they couldn't afford to spend before the "plan".
Meanwhile, diluting the money gives everybody a pay cut - especially those on fixed incomes - and that goes on forever.
(In answer to a challenge that social security is indexed, point out that the index has been gimmicked so it is far less than the actual cost of living increases.)
The only way to really solve this is to reduce government spending - which represents stuff the government took from the consumer and production sectors and used for their own purposes.
But if they must patch, they need to cut the tax RATE, on earnings IN THE FUTURE (where the decisions on how to spend or invest it aren't already made and done). That way the money can go around a bit more in productive effort before it gets siphoned off for the government to spend. At least that would get into the hands of the people right away - by lowered withholding taxes on every paycheck.
I would ask him
not to start every response with "well..."
All he has to do to deal with the media blackout, candidates, and moderators is to call out the candidates on some of their issues, not simply state his own, but to go after those of his opponents. Draw them out, the other candidates still think they look good when making jokes at Paul, but they dont, and it always gives a great window to expose their ignorance.
Recall when Giuliani made that 9/11 statement during one of the first debates, RP came out a winner because he backed up his statement on blowback. When McCain made the "berka" comment, if I would've been on stage I would have said that it was extremely disrespectful, and that attitudes like that would be harmful when meeting with leaders abroad. Confrontations like these get played OVER and OVER in the media, and get talked about, RP comes out looking like the adult while also getting more time at the debate.
Also, I would attempt to bring more varied numbers and statistics into the debates and interviews.
