Disconnect cable, Switch to Dish Network, Satellite TV.

Imagine if each RP supporter disconnects cable and goes for Satellite TV. The cable networks will lose millions in subscription fees alone. Don't go DirectTV because it is owned by Murdoch. Use Dish Network.

It's a babysitter

for children and adults - background noise so they don't have to think about what they should be doing.

I totally enjoy the quiet during the day (only work part time).

What do you use for your internet connection?

I'm using cable for internet only. Is there something faster?

Yes much faster, Fiber optic

Yes much faster, Fiber optic by Verizon, if it's available in your area.

Why?

Why do you go out of your way to drag up 1 yr + 3 month old posts??

dump it all

you will not miss it for long

I enjoy my living space much

I enjoy my living space much more without a TV on all the time, I recommend getting rid of it entirely myself.

I agree

completely.

I posted this on another thread,

but it's applicable here, too:

Hi all!

I know there are some very tech-savvy people on here, so I had a question for anyone who wishes to answer it:

I, too want to DUMP my cable (as a matter of fact, I nearly threw my TV out the window during the debate last night), but there ARE a couple of shows (and sporting events) that I would still like to watch. So, here is my question:

Some of you have mentioned being able to watch HD programming online - how/where? Do I need extra equipment? And secondly, can I get some recommendations as to great, UNBIASED news websites?

Thanks, all!!

kill your tv...

sell it or pawn it and donate the funds to RP....

Eastern Oregon is Ron Paul Country!

Free at last and lovin' it.

Called DISH to have our service discontinued about 3 months ago. What an amusing experience. I could not understand what the Customer Service person was saying, due to a very heavy accent, and she had never, apparently, heard the word 'discontinue.' After a several minute attempt to communicate I was redirected to "the head office" which entailed another explanation regarding the term 'discontinue.'

Finally . . .after 3 months of watching NO tv I can't believe how we as a society have let this monster into our homes. I have my own brain back and because of this I discovered Ron Paul in mid-November from a one liner on the Drudge Report regarding a MoneyBomb earlier that month.. What a blessing!

Whether you get it on cable

Whether you get it on cable or satellite makes no difference, the fees are still paid to the propaganda networks.

Its best to just stop watching the propaganda box.

BTW, Murdoch owns dish network too.

Ratings.

Correct me if I am wrong. Aren't they getting their ratings from the cable TV box? It is impossible to get ratings from Sat. TV. Besides, switching to satellite will create a competition between cable and satellite breaking the monopoly.

Hang on a sec...

I have a better idea. Stop paying for the propoganda alltogether. It's all trash anyway. Fox, NBC, ABC, CBS...all garbage, all mouthpieces for the war machine...all conduits for the subtle and not so subtle consciousness altering BS 'they' feed us.

Unplug...read more...get smarter.

Rabbit Ears.

We got rid of cable years ago and it was the best move we ever made as a parent and also my own brain. I have some rabbit ears for "free" TV (nothings free, still have to watch some garbage commercials at times) to watch local stuff. We get 5 channles with rabbit ears. The 4 networks and PBS. We watch A LOT of PBS, there is good programming there. Yes, I'd love to have History Channel, Discover, etc., but we make up for it with the internet and NetFlix. It's not bad, just do it. You'll be surprized at how you really get use to it. Do yourselves a favor, get unplugged.

My kids complained growing up, now they thank us.

Same here: down to a single

Same here: down to a single TV, with poor reception, and none the worse for it.

I do wish the cable companies would/could sell channels a la carte, because I also would like to have the History Channel, Discover, Sci-Fi, C-Span, etc. But C-Span streams live over the Internet, and NOVA on PBS is superior to those other channels anyway and it is also available online.

The Internet has basically superseded television (and radio and print for that matter). All anyone needs is a cheap laptop to stay fully informed and entertained.

Me too..down to one.

At one point in time, I had a TV in every room in my house except the bathroom. I even had a TV tuner in my computer so I wouldn't 'miss anything' even when I was in the office. I was a certified TV junkie. I 'needed' to see this show or that one...there was always something I just had to watch.

I'm happy to say I've been free and clean of the TV monster for a while now. My head is clear, I don't get the urge to suddenly buy this product or that product. I don't miss the smut or violence that I used to allow into my home & head without so much as a passing thought. I realize just how stupid, yes STUPID the 'it's only entertainment' phrase I used to mutter myself is. Yes, I still watch some TV. These days, it's mostly the entertai-news, and even then, it's just so I'm aware of what the lie of the day is.

Free yourself people. Free your mind.

A la carte...

...they *could*, but refuse to.

The technology has been there for years and years.

I know. When I say "could,"

I know. When I say "could," I mean, "if their shady back-room deals would allow them to." ;-)

Unplug it - or sling it!

You can also go buy a sling (check out the sling at best buy) and umm "share" with people - in your household of course - I wouldn't advise anyone split the costs of cable and deprive the MSM of any juice!!
