How Fred Thompson is helping Ron Paul: Big time

Don't you feel its odd that Ron Paul got 4% of the vote in SC, but after Thompson drops out of the race, Ron Paul jumps to 12% in Georgia?

That should tell us something. Thompson was the only conservative in this race. When I say "only conservative", I mean he was BOTH socially and fiscally conservative. However he had as much energy as a lazy hound dog and inspired no one.

From Ron's jump to 12% in GA I can only deduce that the fiscal conservative vote is now going to Ron Paul and the social conservative vote is going to Huckabee (since he leads in GA).

McCain and Romney and Giuliani are fighting for the moderate vote since they are moderate/liberal across the board.

What I'm saying is this. If Huckabee drops out after Florida, there is only one candidate left who is fiscally conservative AND socially conservative on issues like abortion, immigration, and gun control:

Ron Paul.

With Georgia having 72 delegates on Feb 5. That is huge.

If Huckabee drops out, Ron needs to run to Georgia as quickly as he can get there.

We don't need Giuliani to drop out, it's Huckabee we need out because he is the only true social conservative out there now. Or so the people think. Who else can the evangelicals support?

Demoralizing Huck

It was pretty obvious last night that Huck was getting bumped for Giuliani. In other words, the Huckster had it almost as bad as Paul in being put off to one side. I'm sure the Huckabites are grumbling about this today. This morning, USA Today's article on the debate showed a pic of Rudy McRomney, as if only 3 were in the debate! Figures.

The Florida contest is going to be a real biggie and it could go many ways. But if Huck or Julie loses by a lot, I think either of them will drop.

We gotta watch out for election fraud in Jeb Bush country!!!

I do not think

Huckabee would necessarily quite after Florida. I just hope we beat at least him in Florida at the least. If he fares very badly in FL,he may well quit. With his very limited money, he can only campaign in a very selected few states, and focus there where he thinks the "religious right" are strong. Giuliani may perhaps quit if he he is a distant third or weaker in Florida. It may be to our advantage if he continues to Super Tuesday, as his and McCain's voters would be around the same, so he can split that vote. I really think we will get most of Fred's vote (with or without an endorsement). Just be nice and kind, also, do NOT frighten people off. remember, we are at a crucial stage, where we need to get the major support inside the traditional Republican base and some have the perception that some Ron Paul voters are "fringe", which is totally wrong perception, but some media tries to create this.
Back to Huckabee: I hope he fares very weak in Florida, as that will further take steam out of his momentum. Out of his perspective, he should have won SC. Seems like he is kind to McCain and Giuliani (as VP candidate?), but does not like Romney at all (some history). The core Republicans do NOT accept McClain. It could be the ebst for us if the final showdown is between McClain and Paul. Romney would probably still be till the end, but he loses steam in Louisiana. The souther states may prefer Paul over Romney in general.

No Way Huckabee is dropping BEFORE Feb 5th

He may run out of money and stop campaigning, but he won't drop out. He is the spoiler for the Revolution. He is the only one to stand in our way. Your analysis is spot on, and this is the very reason he will not drop, to spoil Ron Paul's campaign. Romney is the ONLY one we've got to beat. The GOP knows McCain can't beat Hillary, his only strength is war. If the People wanted this war, McCain would be the man. Romney is not about the war, he is for it, but his strength is economic. Not war.

Ron Paul's strength is economic and stopping the war. He's a shoe in. And that's where Huckabee comes in...

Huck's out of money

I don't think you realize how much it costs to run commercials and run a huge entourage like Huck is doing.

He can not compete in all the states come Feb 5th on advertising alone much less salaries.

What we want is this in Florida:

Romney 1st, McCain 2nd, Giuliani 3rd and Huckster 4th.

Huck can not justify losing in SC and by so much in FL and continue forward.

Giuliani can not justify 3rd in FL with all eggs in one basket and dropping in CA and NY polls.

I think they'll both drop out.

McCain will have very little money if he comes in second to Romney because Romney will have the most delegates and people will throw money at him (who doesnt need money) vs. McCain (who does).

We need that order in FL people. And the larger the % to Romney and McCain, the better. Giuliani and Huck need to look VERY weak %wise so they no longer look like viable candidates.

I understand all this

He doesn't have to campaign. He can go a week without campaigning. the media may ask him about this, and that alone will give him exposure. I can already imagine his answer, "I'm running on faith, not money". He'll stay in, he may not campaign, but he won't quite before the 5th, its only a week after Florida.

PS Why do you want RP to come in last place in Florida?

re: Huck Dropping Out

I don't think he'll drop out--his fundraising this month is approaching ours even with the MLK money bomb. I HOPE I'm WRONG, but I think he'll stay in at least through Super Tuesday. Otherwise, I have no doubt but that Dr. Paul will glean quite a few of his supporters.

plus

he's got too much ego to drop out

Please inform me

Why do you say that Thompson was the "only" social conservative; and now Huckabee is the "only" social conservative?

Did you mean to say in each case: they were/are the "only other" social conservative? Otherwise it sounds like you are intimating that Dr. Paul is not a social conservative.

Is there something in my research I missed about Dr. Paul's conservative philosophy/principles? If so, need to be educated.

You need to reread my statement

From a mainstream republican conservative point of view:

Fred Thompson was the only "rounded" conservative. Fiscally and socially. However he also came across as lazy and non-inspiring.

Huckabee is the only "social" conservative because he's an evangelical baptist minister. Hence why he keeps getting that huge voting bloc.

With those two gone, there is only one candidate who is left that is socially and fiscally conservative. Ron Paul.

Because you can't flip flop or be pro-choice like Giuliani and Romney

And you can't believe in amnesty for illegals like McCain, and the sanctuary cities/state like Giuliani and Romney had.

Ron Paul is the only one that is strong on abortion AND immigration AND is fiscally conservative.

If Huckabee drops out, Paul's poll numbers will leap far higher. They've already risen from 4% to 12% in Georgia after Thompson dropped out. That isn't because Ron is heavily campaigning in that state all of the sudden. It's because conservative choices are dwindling.

Errr.

He's not, at least not in the sense that the government needs to tell you what to do-War on Drugs, etc....that's Huckster territory....fiscal policy, yes, but socially conservative, at least in the way it is defined now-nope.

Mike Stahl

Politically, Ron Paul is Socially and Economically Libertarian

Politically, Ron Paul is socially and economically libertarian--that is to say, government isn't the right authority over these issues.

Personally, he's more conservative socially than many libertarians, but he does not advocate government force be used to reach those goals, so that makes him socially libertarian politically, conservative personally.

One can be an authoritarian personally, parentally, educationally, or in the spiritual or other social arenas. As long as you don't advocate government force be used (except for defense of rights) then you are libertarian politically.

Ron Paul lives his values, but doesn't force them on us.

great news

RP08 to restore the Constitution

I think your analysis is

I think your analysis is right on, but supposing Huckabee does drop after Florida and is later picked up by one of the others for a Vice Presidential nod? His supporters could still be a force to be reconned with coupled with McCain's, Guiliani's, or Romney's. What do you think?

Guys, I swear I didn't write this article

I swear I didn't see this article before I put up this forum post, but it just confirmed my analysis about Georgia (at least in MY mind...lol)

"With Thompson out, Tom McClintock leans to Ron Paul
With Fred Thompson out of the presidential race, who's a self-respecting conservative to go for? Could it be, maybe, perhaps, a certain Republican-libertarian from Texas?

That's one question perplexing California state Sen. Tom McClintock, possibly the second-most-famous California Republican currently in office after Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

McClintock created a stir two months when he endorsed Thompson’s presidential candidacy. Having run for governor, lieutenant governor and state controller, McClintock has shown that while he has not won a statewide contest, he can win GOP primaries, which conservatives tend to dominate. So heading into the Feb. 5 primary, McClintock’s endorsement is seen as important in California.

Now McClintock is mulling his choices. And it comes down to the basics: "Who will respect our Constitution, defend our borders, and reduce the burdens of government on our people?" McClintock said Thursday in Sacramento as the Senate wrapped up its week. "If I were to vote today, I probably would be casting a vote for Ron Paul. I’m not voting today."

Why Paul?

"I do believe he will respect our Constitu-" McClintock said, then stopped midthought. "I don’t want to go too far. I am still looking."

Once you lose Huckabee there is NO conservative!

This is the second to TOP REPUBLICAN GUY in California politics!

Ron Paul needs to get endorsements from THESE people. McCain and Romney get Governors to endorse them.

Ron Paul needs this guy before FEB 5!

Wow, I'm getting more confused here all the time.

What do you mean there is "no conservative" once Huckabee leaves?

Isn't Dr. Paul still running? Or are the posters here thinking and talking like the MSM?

I'm feeling like the wind got knocked out of me ...

Then email McClintock's

Then email McClintock's office. I did.

No,

do NOT start with any email flooding to him. He is an experienced politician and knows everybody's stand on issues. He just may be scared away from Ron Paul if many email him. Yours email would be more than enough. Grassroots should NOT handle these issue: the Ron paul campaign should handle this, on the right time. I would except that he and Ron Paul at least talk first and then possibly a formal endorsement could be made when Paul is next time campaigning in California. He has not endorsed yet, but leaning towards...

Actually only email him IF

Actually only politely email him if you've been a registered republican for more than 4 years. Because then you'll know how to convince another republican that Ron Paul is the man to support.

Otherwise, do not.

DONATE!!!

DONATE TO GRASS ROOTS AND WE NEED TO GET OUT THERE!!!

Doc, Are you reading this? This is good stuff..

Go to GA, Doc...Pleeeaaaseee?

Amen to that! Great

Amen to that! Great conclusion. Are there any signs that Huckabee will drop out after he loses in Florida? I realize he is out of money, but he hasn't really had much to start with and has been a thorn in our side from day 1.

I hope someone in Tenn. knows where Fred's Mom is, and...

Is arranging for a flower/prayer (ok, I won't use the b-word) for Fred's Mom. Whether or not the media ever knows it, it's important that Fred and his Mom know that we're classy folks. I've been too-busy with my cat-herding attempt WRT Florida's signs, so I've done nothing but think about this, but a bit of regard for Fred's Mom right now could pay off for us big-time later, IMO. Just like the FL signs-idea.

Hucka-fraud

is not a social conservative in my book. He tries to lure people into supporting him by masquerading as a social conservative and "man of God", but his record says otherwise. I work with a man who has lived in AR for 20 some years, but recently moved to TX because of Hucka-fraud.

The voters need to be educated. Get out there, start knocking on doors, and show the good people of America the way.

Just my two cents.
