Submitted by lynnopoly on Fri, 01/25/2008 - 21:56
When they ask you why, TELL THEM IT'S THE MSM!!!!
We should have a national cancel day. Tuesday? We'll call it Black-Out Tuesday!
(sssh, I know, don't worry, after the elections you can go back. However, you may find out you don't miss it)
UPDATE:
OK, see it was a good idea, someone has organized it already!!

CAN SOMEONE MAKE A VIDEO TO SHARE?

i never had it to begin
i never had it to begin with.
I dropped cable in 2000
Never felt better. I get the news on the internet and the radio.
I've been without cable tv for over three years now
I find that there are so many more hours in the day after I cut that damn cable. It is my opinion that the 24-hour news cycle imposed on us by the cable news networks is a major disservice which keeps important information diluted and elevates trivialities into news.
Do it. Feel the power.
It's tough not to have the supper time crutch but when you wean off of the MSM cold turkey, you will never go back to "stories".
agree 100%
Monday afternoon 2/4/08 I take the 3 tuner units back to Atantic Broadband and cut off cable TV service. I believe that internet service is a separate issue and that it will continue. If not then will got to phone provider.

Vote Ron Paul 2008
YES... YES...YES...
...even if it is only for six months... let them know the lack of Ron Paul coverage is the reason... send a letter to the CEO... if you've done in the past send a letter and remind them why you did it... let the CEO see the letter... not some low-level employee... tell those at the top.. nothing hurts the industry more than a slowdown in subscriber growth or even a decline... I love these mailings I'm getting from the cable companies wanting me to sign up again... they are now spending marketing dollars to get me back... a loss of a subscriber hurts at the margin... companies only makes a profit once they have passed the break-even point... from that point on, all but variable costs falls to the bottom line... a loss of 10,000 subscribers is serious, trust me... the cable companies have the muscle to put pressure on the networks to give Dr. Paul fair coverage... don't supports the fascists and their agents...
I had canceled my cable with Brighhouse (TimeWarner)...
...a few months ago only because I needed to make certain cutbacks and with me working as much as I do, it really made no sense. However, I was pondering the notion of getting it back but Thanks to the MSM they have eliminated that notion for me : )
No Cable for me.

Comcast is the only high
Comcast is the only high speed internet provider in my area. I would dearly love to fire them, but I'm stuck.

I cut the cable to my teevee three years ago...
...and, boy, am I ever one happy camper!
I moved out of the city two years ago. The last year in the city I had high-speed internet (cable) but no cable television subscription. The cable company must have noticed, because they sent a representative to my apartment twice within the course of three months to ask me if I was certain that I did not want a subscription to cable teevee. I explained to the representatives that I work offshore and do not care to watch the crap being proffered by any cable or broadcast entity. These two reps were dumbfounded. I basically told them, after they kept trying to sell me their crappy subscription, I was not financially able to pay for the extra service (a little white lie). That was good enough for them and they left me alone. I don't know if they were trying to catch me 'stealing cable teevee', but the sorts of questions they were asking were not entirely relevant to my decision as a consumer. This is just another example of how, when an entity gets to be too big, they lose touch with their customer base. If I had stayed in that little city, I would have switched service providers to a local (Texas-based) internet company which is giving stiff competition to the national firm already positioned in town.
Long and short of this, kill your teevee, or, at least cut the cable and use the internet. You will have so much more time on your hands to live life and help get your favorite politician noticed...maybe even elected.
Oh, and "Read a Book!"
My internet access is tied
My internet access is tied to a basic cable subscription. No basic cable, not internet. I suppose you would suggest get DSL instead from phone co?
Alternative to Cable/Dish/etc.
DP readers know about Miro, right?
2,500 unrestricted (e.g., DRM-free) channels of free programming, including more HD than anyone. Genres for everyone's tastes, including some RON PAUL channels! We even use Miro programs for some of our homeschooling. In addition to all those channels of programming, you can also get all your YouTubes through Miro -- heck, you can play any video file through Miro.
And be sure to check out the TED talks there -- edumacate yourself and have fun doing so! If you haven't yet discovered TED, man, are you missing out.
Very brief introductory video demo of Miro here.
No cable/sat/broadcast in our home for past 7 years -- once you dump the TV and discover what else is available from other sources, you will NEVER go back.
Always looking for alternatives to the OM
I like the trend I am seeing with new media outlets...especially those geared for continuing the Ron Paul revolution well into the future!
This comment
Should be on the front page of every known Ron Paul site.
VERY cool indeed. =)
Thanks fanofwalt
Wow, thanks
for the info on Miro! It's the first I've heard of it and it looks wonderful. I'm going to bookmark it and enjoy poking around there this weekend.
Spread the Word
Let everyone know: we don't need no stinkin' MSM! ;)
Very cool
I'm in!

This is a awesome idea. If
This is a awesome idea. If we can raise boat loads of money for Ron Paul, why can't we have a protest? This is a non-violent protest that will send a clear message out to everyone. It'll be so big that even people who don't support Ron Paul will get on board.
We should also not bring up Ron Paul as a reason--it's not needed. It should be strictly to protest a media that is so clearly biased, so clearly devious, and so clearly out of control.
Please, someone choose a day, design a web-site, and lets turn off our TV's for a week to protest these bastards.
This has to be done. This protest will be talked about in history books if it's big enough... I'm not kidding. It's a 21st century protest!!!
I agree
I thought it was a good one too, but after the previous posters...
I think this could be huge! Those who can't live without TV? What will you sacrifice. For god sakes, maybe you'll find your quality of life improve, loose a few pounds, meet a few new people...

You wouldn't happen to be a
You wouldn't happen to be a web-site designer?
This could really be big, we just need to inspire people to do it....
no...
no cable, no TV.
folks must understand...can't have both ways...you can't lament the MSM, and fund it at the same time.
I'm not getting your stance.
clarify please.

If people do not agree with
If people do not agree with MSM censorship, they should not be funding them. They should end their customership.
Re:
Cancelled it 2 weeks ago.
I have rabbitt ears
no cabel to cancel
They still make those?
haha. cute.
well order so you can get rid of it. Get the 1 month free package. Just think, the cable company will have to spend all that money to send someone out to hook it up and then send him back to unhook it! Ha, it would be great!

I just want to hit the MSM in their pocketbook. You can watch movies on your computer?
