Ron Paul Racing Lands a Car!!!
After exiting conversation’s with Doug Yates Racing, we have secured permission to announce our sponsor intentions. Not just any car but the legendary #28 making its historic return to the track since it was retired shortly after the passing of NASCAR great Davey Allison in 1993. Imagine the coverage this team is going to get for Ron Paul.
Doug Yates Racing, with 48 poles, 57 wins including two Daytona 500s and a Championship, is no stranger to winning. The #28 car also posted the 4th fastest time in Daytona’s preseason test earlier this month. Imagine the coverage this car will get for its history alone. Now imagine it covered with Ron Paul. This would be the first time a NASCAR racecar was sponsored by "We the People", the fans, the Ron Paul Revolution.
However, depending on our commitment we will need to collect $50K to 400k in the next 2 weeks. Considering we (the grassroots supporters) have collected 6.5 million in 24 hours, WE CAN DO THIS! But we need everyone’s help. Please copy this hyperlink-logo and post it everywhere. Add www.ronpaulracing.com to your email signature and most of all donate today.
Over the next few days we will be updating the site with various Ron Paul endorsements throughout the racing community as well as Ron Paul Racing fan gear and details about how you can be there with us in person for the dropping of the green flag. But only if we meet our goal. The plans have been set; the ball is rolling; now it’s up to us all to make this happen.
Thank you,

Finally recieved a response.......
Scott,
Has responded to me, and he states that he has been real busy updating post. The web site looks nice. He said he is meeting with Doug Yates on Tuesday to work out the details. I informed him I am board once I see something from Yates or Jayski.com (NASCAR insider website).
I hear ya Dave....
But is this effort a scam? Please read my post below. No one from ronpaulracing.com has replied to my comments. I am thinking scam. To posters have neam rCON1 and SABOTslug. CON-man, SABOTAGEslug?????
Someone prove this to be true, and they will have my support.
the questions people asked us were amazing...
Nead the end of that 2002 season I built a 3rd bike and rode it myself hoping to take enough points to put our #1 rider into the Champoinship...
OTHER Riders were asking me questions bout libertarianism ON THE STARTING GRID... :) It was totally hysterical...
The whole concept was different enough that everyone around the series knew about it by the end of the year...of course kicking their butts so bad most of the season helps too...
Since then... there has been a Senate campaign on a NASCAR Truck...only for one race...and I believe an Ohio US House campaign on a Champ Car...

!!!!! 97% !!!!!!!!
Fan surveys of racing fans, at all levels, from local motocross to Formula One... boats, bikes, cars, planes...even lawnmower racing...
report that 97% of racing fans have made purchase decisions based on racing sponsorship....97%!
Why do you think that multi-national co's spend hundreds of millions on it? Think Red Bull, Budweiser, HP...etc...
Win on Sunday....Sell on Monday works as well for laundry soap as for motor oil...it also works in politics.
I was crewchief of the first team to mix politics and racing in the USA (as far as I know), in 2002 we ran the Strick's Cycle/Libertarian Party of North Carolina Kawasaki's in AHRMA Vintage Superbike... (8 1st-2nd finishes- National Championship 2nd after missing 1st 3 races) :)
gooooooooo Ron Paul Racing!

But is this a scam?
Dave,
I know the demographics for NASACR are perfect for reaching new RP supporters. Problem her is that no one from ronpaulracing.com has replied in almost 24hrs of questioning the web sites integrity.
If proven to be legite, I am in, in a big way.
CHEC OUT THE SITE !!!!
Ron Paul Racing is dedicated to raising the money for and organizing a sponsorship for Dr. Ron Paul on a NASCAR Cup car in the upcoming Daytona 500!
We are in talks with several teams to place our sponsorship with. We have many volunteers stepping up to help the effort, and can always make use of more.
We are currently not accepting donations. But, you can enter your information below and make a pledge! We will post the stats real-time, and we will contact all the pledgers when we are accepting donations.
HQ should get all the money 1st...does Paul want this?
All these ideas...(Race Car, Blimp, SuperBowl commercial) are GOOD, however they only dilute the amount of money that HQ receives and that is NOT GOOD.
The PRIORITY right now should be to fill up Dr. Paul's campaign war chest. Dr. Paul has personally asked for more donations, so this is where our efforts should be at this time.
I couldnt agree more
I am no doubt the biggest NASCAR fan, and if it's legite, I will donate after I have maxxed out to the campaign. But whats really important, is that RP has enough money to continue all the way until September.
We need word from the big guy on this
We need either Paul himself, Trevor, or someone else to come out and support this.
What the hell does Trevor
What the hell does Trevor have to do with this?
You guys have given him way too much credit.
Trevor is not on the Ron Paul marketing pay roll nor is he the minster of finanace for Ron Paul. HE SET UP A WEB SITE FOR NOV 5TH NOTHING MORE and nov 5th wasn't even his idea.
I do not take my orders or suggestions from Trevor.
He's known, people need to be let know that this isn't a scam
If Trev came out and said this wasn't a scam I'd believe him.
If Paul came out and said this wasn't a scam I'd believe him.
However, my money is going to Paul and not the car.
People need to be let known that this is not a scam.
This happened with the blimp, remember?
I respect the dude for what he has done...
...but *%$&*. SGP you are right.
Dont give yet.
Someone needs to respond to this and clear up any doubts.
Is this a scam?
I hope not, I have attempted to email scott at address below, which matches the address on the website, but it came back. maybe its not set up yet. I have not heard back from my earlier post. Please tell me he is just busy today and away from the computer.
Scott is your email working?
I sent you an email, but it came back. racertim23@aol.com
Bump I am in
I'm in!
Nascar is huge
I agree. Cheap National Coverage would be good.
Nascar is a huge sport
Don't underestimate how important this is
People seriously - for folk in the south this is bigger than having 'Vote Ron Paul' emblazoned across the QB's jersey in the superbowl. People have shrines to Davey Allison, you can't overstate the respect that NASCAR fans have for this man and his memory.
It would be a worthy epitaph for the man if his notoriety helped to usher in a president who will restore the Constitution to its rightful place. Give all you can - this is huge.

To make an end run around the MSM I will support this!
I hope this won't put too much of a burden on the camera crew after they are told to keep the camera off of the RP car!! lol
"The question is not who will let me- the question is who will stop me" - Ayn Rand
Now is this car going to be painted like on the website?
Or will it simply be a sticker on the side of the car?
I hate nascar
I never watch nascar but if there were a Ron Paul car I would definitely watch.
Make him start out in last and paint all of the other cars with IRS, CFR, CIA, DHS, etc... and watch him put all of them into the wall.
Would be cool to see all the nascar fans throw money out onto the track too though I don't know how much the drivers would appreciate it.
I am envisioning...
...a televised NASCAR race showing lots of cars driving around the track, but one particular car in this televised race is covered up by a pixelated blob, or maybe by a little black box, as it goes around the track and on the TV. And in typical fashion, no one will think anything of it.
Nascar Fans..
Please always remember this one thing.....
8 x 3 = 24!!!! ;0)
First off, I don't
First off, I don't understand the 3 x 8 thing. #8 is mark martin, if you were looking for dale jr you meant 88.
now if you take 88 x 3 you get 264.... if you take 264 / 24 you get 11. So when you multiply Dale Jr. and Sr., the answer is equivielent to 11 jeff gordons.
Or you could consider this...24 x 2 = 48. This goes to show that nascar math is flawed because there is no way jimmie twice as good as jeffy.
Ok, so anyway sorry for this useless post. I haven't wasted all my time here... I put a bunch of Ron Paul flyers in random places in a restaurant tonight and a bunch of people started getting into political conversations about it. I was freaking out about how well it worked. Just drop some of the common sense flyers on a bar table or a bunch in the bathrooms and people will actually read em. The first thing i always tell people when they read them is that he is the only true anti-war candidate, and he is republican. It is a great conversation starter. It appeals to the anti-war democrats, and the hard core republican-only voters.
Earnhardts are #3 and #8
Lemme esplain sumtin to ya son:
Dale Earnhardt, Sr., aka "the Intimidator" / "The Man" drove #3 for Richard Childress racing. His father Ralph drove #8. When The Intimidator's son got into NASCAR, he settled on his grandpappy's number, so Dale, Jr. drove the Budweiser #8 for his father's new team, Dale Earnhardt, Inc. But Junior is now driving #88 National Guard sponsor for Hendrick Motorsport.
Now, gay rainbow Jeffy Gordon, Dupont #24, was The Intimidator's biggest rival.
So, this fool is being nostalgically cute by saying 3 x 8 = 24 even though the #3 and #8 are no longer driven by any Earnhardts, not even whatshisname...estranged son Kerry, who really looks like his father.
I don't even like NASCAR or
I don't even like NASCAR or any racing sports for that matter but I'm considering donating money. This IS A GOOD IDEA! If theres one thing people in America love, it's sports. I wouldn't be surprised if the media blacked this out too though, if we got it off the ground. *sigh*
This is great!
When Earnhardt was killed I thought the last American hero had died. Now I have Ron Paul. Thank goodness for Ron Paul, now we have a good guy and a good cause to root for once again!
Careful now... someone is
Careful now... someone is bound to call Ron a "race-ist". ;)
Yeah
The media will lap that up. (pun intended)
Nice idea but...
$400k could do a lot more in TV and Radio adds across the country before Feb 5th Super-Tuesday primaries... no offense but everyone is getting UN-focused with all these different fundraising ideas... don't get me wrong this would be awesome if the whole car were painted in nothing but a Ron Paul / Consititution theme... but those guys have contracts with huge sponsors so I doubt they will do that... and that's too much money for a "bumper-sticker"
BESIDES, the Ron Paul HeadQuarters has issued a new fundraising challenge to all supporters on their main website called "Going for the GOLD" they desparately need us to raise an additional $5 Million before February 5th.
So everyone focus on donating the absolute most you can NOW... we can get back to all these novel fundraising ideas after Super-Tuesday.
I respectfully disagree.
I respectfully disagree. This idea is gonna make top news in the sports world for the weeks leading up to daytona. The fact that the two Yates cars have no sponsors yet has been a fairly big deal. If and when a deal like this is signed, it will be a big deal once again.
Believe it or not, daytona qualifying will be a live event that is nationally broadcast. Even on qualifying day, millions will watch! For two and a half minutes its all about this car. Ron will instantly be mentioned to millions.
Qualifying is held a week before the actual daytona 500. On the Thursday before daytona, there are two qualifying races. They are huge events that are replayed on espn and every news channel over and over. They are also hyped up quite a bit in the preceding days.
The yates cars are traditionally fast in daytona qualifying and the daytona 500 itself. The yates cars have been on the front row a couple times in recent years, including last year.
Keep in mind that in a race such as daytona, the lead changes continuously, and the a yates car will be out front at some point. The rules almost ensure it.
If you don't like Nascar, and thats ok, and you think this isn't a good idea, keep in mind that this is the second most watched sporting event in the U.S. It's bigger than indy, its bigger than the world series (sorry baseball fans). The commercials for this race is getting to be as big a deal as super bowl commercials are. Last year i remember a few news segments commenting on how much funny the daytona commercials were than the crappy super bowl commercials.
For 400,000 grand, I would suspect that about half the car will be ours, thats a good deal on a yates car. I'm guessing for 50 grand, that will get us the back of the car. Keep in mind that this is a presidential sponsorship, and will get headilines no matter what size it is. Also keep in mind that NASCAR fans remember who helps them out, and will remember Ron Paul at the polls.
My question for the guys running this is this: Can we get on the car for the bud shootout too?
Exactly....well said.

I have never watched Nascar but having gone to school in Indiana I know just how big it is. We have to make sure this gets funded.

Yates Car #88 to Jeff Gordon's Team (for Earnhardt, Jr.)
Yes, this will DEFINITELY GET COVERAGE because it involves media darling Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Here's the scoop as I understand it:
a) Dale Earnhardt drove #3 which was half his father's racing #8, so when Junior got into racing, he fancied his grandpappy's #8 and as we all know, there's been a massive merchandising business built around these numbers.
b) Bad juju in the Earnhardt clan with Theresa controlling Earnhard, Inc., so long story short, whatever the backstory is, Junior ends up leaving the team of his own name and joins his daddy's rival Jeff Gordon at Hendrick Racing. THE BIG STORY THIS YEAR !!
c) The #88 Robert Yates car used to have UPS as a sponsor with Dale Jarrett, but Jarrett is retiring next month after the Bud Shootout, so UPS moved to car #44 (Toyota). Robert Yates put Ricky Rudd in the #88, but he's decided to retire too! Now they have Travis Kvapil in the #88.
d) Earnhardt Junior is haunted by superstitions and the marketing beancounters, so a deal is made for Hendrick Motorsports to acquire the #88 from Robert Yates Racing and DOUG Yates brings back the late Davy Allison's retired #28 to take it's place. DOUG Yates now runs #28 (Travis Kvapil WITH RON PAUL GRAPHICS) and ROBERT Yates the #38 (Dave Gilliland) Ford cars.
e) Budweiser moves to Kasey Kahne's #9 Dodge and the U.S. Army now sponsors the #8 with Earnhardt driving #88 for the National Guard.
So lessee who's involved in this BIG STORY that will have RON PAUL's graphics all over it: Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Jeff Gordon, Dale Jarrett, Ricky Rudd, Davy Allison. MAN, THIS IS GONNA BE HUGE (Trump voice) FOR THE R3V0LUTION !!!

'cept RYR is now DYR
Robert Yates Racing now to be Doug Yates Racing:
http://www.nascar.com/200...
"With this announcement it's clear that the letter of intent with Newman Haas Lanigan Racing will not proceed," said Doug Yates, who's the designated CEO of the new team. "We're thankful for their support and would welcome the opportunity to work with them in the future."
Finally, the elder Yates, who launched RYR in 1989 with a two-victory season with driver Davey Allison, after purchasing the team from Harry Ranier, announced he would retire as president of the company at the end of this season; ending a career in which his team won 57 Cup races, 48 poles and the 1999 championship with driver Dale Jarrett.
In his announcement Robert Yates said "certain facets of Robert Yates Racing are being transferred to a new company presided over by Doug Yates. Robert Yates Racing will continue with its joint ownership of Roush Yates Racing Engines as well as other ventures."
Friday morning Doug Yates had said the engineering and sponsorship goals of the new partnership were a long-term proposition. Robert Yates was more definitive by the evening
Is that cost for just Daytona?
I love this idea and hope it will produce good results (votes), and would love to support it once more info is available regarding how much space and in what location on the car we will get for our $$$.
Something else to think about, Super Tuesday is on Feb. 5th and the first Daytona event on the schedule for the cup drivers is the Bud Shootout on Feb. 9th. The 500 isn't until Feb. 17th.
Is that cost for just Daytona?
Depends on the donations... 50k yes....400k no
Mooresville, NC Race City USA
Racing is HUGE here in NC! The car needs to have only ONE advertiser " WE The PEOPLE" for Ron Paul.
A like minded Racing team could give us a break maybe?
Contact that areas meetups!
Who's driving?
Not like I'd know who they are but hopefully somebody famous. I still can't fathom that people watch NASCAR.
Who's driving?
Travis Kvapil in # 28 according to the website info
NASCAR is big in the
NASCAR is big in the southern U.S.(less so in the northern states it seems), for those in the northern states that don't understand it.
I think this is good news and think its worth donating to. RP needs advertising like this.
Capture the NASCAR crowd!
Even though I have never seen a NASCAR event and couldn't name more than 2 drivers, I've donated $200 to this effort because of how important I believe it to be. The sport has overtaken hockey and is clearly a top 4 national sport, even gaining on basketball. The exposure will have a value of at least triple what it will cost and even if it translates to a minority percentage of NASCAR viewers votes, that number of people will be HUGE! Please bump and keep this going. One could argue that the exposure this car would receive could rival, if not surpass, that of the blimp.
