My Grandfather, The Patriot

It is amazing and awe inspiring to realize how many people support my grandfather. I have always known that my grandfather was respected and important. When I was born, he was serving his third term as United States Congressman from Houston, Texas. I have never known a time when he was not important. Even when he returned home from politics in 1984, he was important. He was a doctor, and he helped people. He is important to his family and friends, and in the last twenty-six years, I have learned that he is important to America.

I have also realized that it is not about being important to him. It is about being right, and believing in what you do. My grandfather truly believes the message that he brings to people across The United States.

When I was in elementary school, we had a career day. Obviously, I looked up to my grandfather and wanted to be just like him. I wanted to be a “politician” for career day. I told my grandfather this bit of news and, like many other times, he taught me an important lesson. He said it is far better to strive to be a “statesman” than a “politician.” So, for career day that year I was a “statesman.” I carried one of my grandfather’s briefcases and wore a gray suit with a red tie. When my friends and teachers asked me what I was for career day, I am sure they assumed that I had dressed up like a lawyer or a businessman like many of the kids at school that day. I told them proudly that I was a statesman, like my grandfather, and I wanted to serve my country.

We live in an important time. We live in a day and age where we, as Americans, must decide if we want to continue turning our nation into a welfare state, fighting unconstitutional wars, spending money we do not have, and turning away from the principles on which our country was founded.

We must now decide whether “safety” is worth giving up our freedom. True safety, however, exists only when our freedom is protected.

In 1988, my grandfather ran for President as the Libertarian candidate. At the time, I was only eight-years-old. I can remember that the most interesting thing to me, at the time, was the aspect of hearing “Hail To The Chief,” and the hope of getting to ride in a limousine.

Twenty years later, I now know and realize that if my grandfather was, in fact, elected president, his presidential motorcade would probably consist of one Ford Focus, and “Hail To The Chief” would probably be performed by one piccolo player. If the federal budget is to be cut, he would begin in the Oval Office.

If you care about the message that Ron Paul is trying to spread and educate Americans on, then post a comment to this blog. I want everyone to post a comment and tell us why it is important to get this message out.

Then, email and tell EVERY one of your friends about this site. Have them get online and read about our “Freedom Under Siege!” Tell them about ronpaul.org and tell them about this battle we are fighting. It is not in Iraq. It is not in Afghanistan. It is right here in our towns, our states, and our nation.

Ron Paul, Public Servant and Noble Statesman

I certainly do want to let others know that Ron Paul possesses an unimpeachable character, and an enviable amount of knowledge concerning the Framers Constitution of the United States of America. He epitomizes the very essence of the term Patriotic American, and his public service as a Statesman heretofore is only indicative of what we could expect from him in the future were he to receive the call to serve in the capacity of President of the United States of America.

As his grandson, you are in a position to personally witness firsthand, just how important it is to be loyal and valiant in our devotion to the Constitutional principles of our founding. You could have no better example to follow than that which you see in your grandfather, the Honorable Ron Paul. I can assure you his level of patriotic fervor is seldom matched in our current makeup of so-called Public Servants.

I sincerely hope you will continue to follow his noble example by working diligently to stand for the same efforts to bring the American spirit back to the forefront of our daily lives. It can be done, and Ron Paul, with God's help, is just the man to do it.

Ron Paul is what America needs

Ron Paul is one of the few "politicians" today that have a clue what freedom is (which is what sets him apart as a Statesman). Not a tyranni-con (like Rick Perry) but a man that understands the true meaning of Liberty.

It is my sincere hope that Ron Paul is the Republican nominee for 2008. If not, I'm voting Constitution Party or Libertarian.
