Ron Paul is OUR "Boston Teal Party"

This may not be one of the great success stories out there but I heard from my brother over the weekend who asked what all the Ron Paul buzz is about in his town in Georgia. He knows I recently ran for local office in VA and figured I would know something. We don't speak very often but spoke for a few minutes and he committed to check out Dr. Paul’s campaign web site. This evening brother Bill informed me that he signed up at the site and spoke to a neighbor about his new found interest. I’m talking about a conservative 40 year old family guy who has paid little attention to politics and is often shy about his political opinions. Here is a guy who has finally taken notice and immediately gravitated to the right candidate. Very happy to report that the good doctor has another supporter and that my brother has joined the revolution.

Any advice to recruit in Hispanic communities? Any talking points that would appeal to Hispanics?

I actively seek opportunity to EDUCATE others about Ron Paul's stand on issues, and then ENCOURAGE them to join the Ron Paul rEVOLution online, while conductng myself as an EXAMPLE of an ENLIGHTENED supporter.

An enlightened supporter has educated themselves on the issues, read Ron Paul's books, can debate for Ron Paul inteligently and with sincere kindness.

I've been putting off canvasing for a while, shy and haven't been able to convert anyone I know personally so didn't feel confident. Anyways this weekend I decided heck I gotta do something.
So I put 2 slimjims on the mailbox flag of every single address on the precinct list. Driving down the road after I was done it looked amazing seeing so many fliers, I put. Figured with the amount I put out it the message must have reached someone. Quantity is a good thing to. Just wanted to say this to encourage anyone else shy who hasn't really gotten out there.

All of the suggestions I have seen that are working for others are great but I have discovered another that has worked for me.

We all tend to talk to each other via this venue and others about how wonderful President Paul is and what a great President he is going to make. We are "preaching to the choir" and, while this is good, it really does nothing to get his message outside of our group.

I have written a short email note, edifying Dr. Paul, with the link to the web site and a few of MY reasons for supporting President Paul and sent to my entire address book. I use Netscape mail so if I have ever sent a note to anyone the address is captured in this book. I am NOT talking about distribution lists that I set up or the like but the ENTIRE address book. Leave your contact info so folks can ask questions, etc. if they would like or gripe about 'spamming' them, etc. (You will get a few 'bounces' but don't worry about them.)

It's cheap, and effective since our MSM is not providing adequate coverage.

It works... Everyone where I live in GA is undecided. No other candidate is coming to their doors.

I stapled a 3 inch square note to every slim I handed out.

I have become a precinct captain and canvassed 43 republican households today. 10 people answered the door. 6 were undecided and were happy to learn and take info. 1 said she was sold by the time I taught my 6th fact.

Very Important - I do not walk up and hold anything in my hands. Like the handout, canvass spreadsheet, clipboard. I just have the stack of trifold packets tucked in my inside jacket chest pocket. My spreadsheet is folded and in my back pocket.

I remember when, well not long ago,(more like two months) if I see anybody walking up to my house where it s looking like a survey, I sometimes don't even answer the door.

My wife was having a phone interview today for a new position and was asked the typical "Tell me a situation in which your were inspired to do something and what did you do?" She dropped Dr Pauls name and went on about handing out slim jims, posting signs and wearing Ron Paul swag. It was great. I think she actually converted her interviewer.

January 23rd Reno Nevada, 2 days after our caucus when many had stepped down their efforts, 8 of us rallied in downtown Reno with a megaphone I bought for $79.95 at radio shack. We had only a few stragglers join our rally directly, but many many more stopped to listen. We had two 15' long banners, one saying "It's not Advanced Interrogation, it is Torture" and the other saying "Equality and Justice for all" and a number of smaller official and homemade signs.
Downtown reno used to be populated with many casinos, but due to our lower cost of living and no state sales tax the Californians have come in huge numbers and have quite literally taken over northern Nevada and turned most of our casinos into condos. We used that to our advantage.
Standing in a park between 8 large condos I spoke for 2 hours through a megaphone and had people come out on their balconies by the score as I was yelling such one liners as "The Federal Reserve is organized crime", "End the logic of Empire, restore the Republic" and "Support our troops, bring them home" as well as longer speeches explaining in greater detail about such things as Dr Paul having the highest military donations, the Real ID, us going to war under the UN flag and the UN being unelected and thus undemocratic, and my personal favorite "We hold these truths to be self evident. that all men are created equal and endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights. That among these are Life, LIBERTY and the pursuit of happiness.".
We drew large numbers of listeners and could be clearly heard for blocks in every direction. It was very effective. At one point a Reno Police officer drove by and I thought he was going to ask us to stop with the megaphone...but he smiled, nodded and gave us the peace sign as he drove away :)

Look someone in the eye and say, "What would you think if America merged with Canada and Mexico, and eventually into a New World Order/One World Government?"

They will say something like "Oh, that could NEVER happen...we would NOT let that happen...."

Then you calmly but firmly explain to them that this is a very real threat indeed. And you get to school them on CFR, NAU, NWO etc etc and how all other candidates are part of the Ultimate Plan.

Except for Ron Paul.

This is the approach that has worked best for me.

i've converted people to the knowledge of the REAL I.D. Act and how it's electronic handcuffs. Mark Lerner and Jim Guest who are pushing legislation and bills to stop this law from coming to past on the state by state level have been interveiwed as well. i ask that you go and listen to these broadcasts @ endtime, click on the radio link and go to more broadcasts, you will find great and informative material to help stop this act. if we don't we will be subject to more international laws and U.N. taxes.

The first thing is to help educate them on the Federal Reserve without scaring them to death. The video that works really well for this is Money, Banking, and the Federal Reserve.

At that point they REALLY start asking questions and begin digging on their own.

I did a little bit of "boot work" yesterday at a gun show. About half the people had heard of Ron Paul; about half had never heard the name, didn't know he was a presidential candidate, much less that he is running as a Republican.

My sister and I talked to one self-proclaimed, "hard-nosed Democrat." Turns out he feels very strongly that we should pull out of Iraq and NOW. After a few minutes telling him about Ron Paul - he wasn't familiar with him - I think we got ourselves a winner. We gave him a Gun Owners for Ron Paul slim jim and a table comparing the various GOP candidates' voting records.

Our success rate over the two hours that we were there was about 50%, I think.

What works? I'd have to say that your best bet is going to be finding out what each person's main issue is (whether it be "we NEED border control" or "I HATE the IRS" or "Iraq was a big, big mistake" or what-have-you), and then addressing that. Do NOT go into every issue or try to prove that there is an establishment and an agenda. Just put the "bug" in their ear, get some literature in their hands, be friendly about it, and get the ball rolling.

That applies, at least, to direct contact with people out canvassing. Personally, I don't think phone calls are a very good idea. I would treat a phone call like a telemarketer and just be put off from it. But the "soft sell" of a little information and a pleasant exchange can do a lot of good! (On the other hand, if people don't want to be bothered, let it go at that. Don't alienate them further by forcing the issue!)

That's just my two devaluated cents. :)

I called Dr. Paul's hometown paper and ask why they had not endorsed and what I could do to get them to do so. He said, "Write a letter."

If you haven't, please write this man for an endorsement.

Just got a call about Obama. She was telling me about how excited she was about Obama. I said "I am a Ron Paul supporter". She said "Wow I do not evenknow what party he is in!" I said "Republican, but I am an Independent." She thanked me and hung up. It felt good to say it!

Any time someone says, "I'm for the war, " or "I want our troops to stay in Japan," I ask "How will we pay for that?" At first they look at me like I'm crazy, but it gets them thinking and is a good opening for discussion. In my experience, the war is the biggest reason why people don't support Ron Paul. You have to get these pro war people to start thinking out of the box. And if they're Christians like me I ask, "Please show me in the bible where it says that Jesus would approve of preemptive war?" No one has been able to show me that, of course.

But since you asked, I've just got to do it again.

I spent the summer hitting as many garage sales as I could, especially on main roads (I live in a rural area in Michigan's Thumb Area). While shopping I would bring up Ron's campaign and talk him up along with his policies, leaving slimjims and RON PAUL DVD's !! My main intent was to get people on board enough to agree to put a sign on their place. The DVD's did the trick. I placed dozens of signs ...large ones on the main drags.
As the primaries got closer, as Precinct Captain, I began consentrating my efforts to my precinct. I began going door to door with the slimjims NAFTA Flyers, and THE DVD's, and encouraging people to do the same. We hung slimjims on mailboxes, doors, in stores, ALWAYS encouraging people to put SIGNS up.
On primary day Paul got 6% in Michigan but took second in the precinct with 21%.
Talk to people, SlimJims, DVD's, and SIGNS !! And of course a knowledgable enthusiasm in your voice.
