Precinct Captains and The Campaign's Strategy: WHERE matters
What the Campaign can't really say that we should talk about on DP is that specific precinct captains are needed much more than others.
Their strategy through Mega Tuesday has been surgical strikes (ads & visits) in 2 kinds of states, this old link sheds some light:
1) states with open primaries and some sort of proportional delegate award (not winner take all statewide) where independents can vote for Ron (i.e. Alabama).
2) states with closed caucuses where an active few can make a powerful impact in delegates and possibly deliver a state win (i.e. Louisiana, North Dakota, less so in Colorado)

The key points about all this are:
* Tennessee, Mass., Illinois and to a lesser extent Calif. and Georgia are the Mega Tues states (in addition to mentioned above) that most need Captains. Encourage DPers from these states the most re: precinct leadership.
Other notes:
* In winner take all states like New York and New Jersey, god bless precinct Capts and thank you but ads and visits aren't coming, we really can't expect outright wins in your state
* The campaign's work in Fla is a little less congruent with the strat outlined here. They may have believed it would be district WTA vs state, that was only decided late I believe.

Captain Liberty, Here
Just in from walking in the rain in the next precinct over. It goes faster now that we're only targeting R's. (The California deadline to switch parties came and went.) Can't complain about the rain after all those YouTubes of New Hampshire! Southern California and the temperature was 60 degrees.
I just printed out the second list, for two more precincts including the one where I live.
I only saw one yard sign (Obama). There's a Ron Paul sign in my yard, and I gave one to a Ron Paul donor I found when knocking.
We need to have enough delegates in the Convention that they can work the room, winning over delegates who are disappointed in their candidates.

heard about the no campaign in nys the other day
this really hurt moral for the troops. Were slowly moving forward but it is still a bit late in the game for a good showing.
Our heads are held high and were still fighting.
I agree,,,,,
If we become precinct leaders and organize individual door knock campaigns and person to person touch, we will actually help Dr. Paul surge by expanding his base.
It will also defy the MSM because people are more likely to have a positive opinion after a Door Knock rather than after a TV ad.
and it only cost pennies for a flyer compiled of the RP platform.
much more effective and yet not utilized in the primaries by the campaigns because the number of "die hard" supporters is low.
thanks! (sarcastic)
for discounting the contributions for us here in New Jersey and New York...
How do you know Ron can't surge in these states?
Guiliani is about to drop out and there will be a LOT of undecided voters in the last days....
BTW - a lot of money is raised out of thee states too...never hurts to get more donors...especially these days!
Leave global strategy to Ron and HQ!
It is the campaign's
It is the campaign's strategy and it makes sense relative to resource allocation. I made the effort to praise those in your states, you must have seen that. -JP
