What does the Ron Paul "tent" look like from the outside?
So there are a lot of people who are roaming around as different "tents" go up and voters are wooed to the parties.
What does the Ron Paul "tent" look like from the outside?
What does it look like if someone peeks their head in to take a look?

There are just two tents.
One tent is for all the people who think "society's problems" are best solved by force or the threat of force.
The other tent is everybody else. That's our tent.

The parking lot is full, there are many excited people around and you can tell that something really interesting and important is happening. Learning about what is going on from the outside is a bit difficult since those who report on these things (the mainstream media) do not give fair coverage to the Ron Paul tent - more than likely because they don't want those outside the tent to even notice.

Re: When did you first hear about Ron Paul?

The response so far to our post asking for people to share how they first came to hear about Dr. Paul has been overwhelming! It’s amazing to see all of the different paths people took to the message of freedom, peace, and prosperity. One even mentioned that he first checked out Dr. Paul because of the “Vote for Ron Paul 2008″ name someone used in an online gaming session!
Here are just a few of the many stories, and I’ll try to post more soon.
From Kay -
“Last summer, my college-student son kept talking about Ron Paul which peaked my interest. Then I happened to see a slim jim laying on the sidewalk, picked it up, read it, and I’ve been hooked on Ron Paul ever since. This is the first time I’ve ever donated to a candidate and the first time I’ve ever been excited about a candidate (I’m almost 60). Ron Paul wants to return this country to its past greatness and I firmly believe that he and his “revolution” are the only ways to do it.”
From Kevin -
“I have a funny story… last year I was at a party and met a friend I hadn’t seen for a while who happened to be raising funds for another candidate. She asked me who I was supporting and I told her that I didn’t support any of the candidates since I couldn’t agree with their positions. She offered to help me and asked me a couple of questions on various issues. While I was answering she blurted - “Oh no - you are for Ron Paul!” I was surprised at her tone and a bit worried since she seemed so concerned and I didn’t know anything about Ron Paul. The next day, because of her strong reaction, I searched the web and found this web site. After reading the articles and watching a few videos I sent her an email letting her know that she was right.”
From Claire -
“A habitual “vote waster” I probably voted for him in ‘88, but never noticed the name… I first noticed that on a sign downtown. “Ron Paul? Google Him.” A coworker mentioned Ron’s Libertarian past candidacy to my husband, so we finally did “google him.” First it was a small donation, but the first time we had ever donated. Now we are precinct leaders, my husband will be running for a local office, and life is just never going to be the same! Ignorance may be bliss-like, but knowledge is empowering.”
From Robert -
“I first heard of Ron Paul when I was 14 in 1976. He advised people to buy gold and silver coins and told us why. I used a modest inheritance to buy some coins. I eventually sold them at top dollar and made enough money to help put me through college when jobs were scarce. RP is the greatest man of our time! Thank You.”

Keeping the Internet Free
Keeping the Internet Free (2/28/08)
Today’s Seattle Times observes the support that Dr. Paul has from tech companies:
"U.S. Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, has proved his popularity in the tech world, far outpacing Sen. John McCain in support from donors. Paul received twice as much money from Microsoft employees as McCain did, and five times as much as McCain from Google employees."
According to the Center for Responsive Politics, employees of Google and Microsoft are number three and four in a list of top contributors to the campaign. (First and second on that list are the Army and Navy respectively.)
Congressman Paul has repeatedly said that he doesn’t want to tax or regulate the internet, and internet innovators - who have thrived from the freedom of the internet - support candidates who understand that freedom is key to the success of the e-Economy.

"I was delighted to read in
"I was delighted to read in Judy Shelton's op-ed, "Security and the Falling Dollar" (Feb. 15), that at long last the security implications of the dollar's collapse have made their way into the mainstream media. The dollar's strength (or lack thereof) has been of paramount concern to me, and the subject of many of my statements over the past several years. Decades of manipulation by the Federal Reserve have benefited the government and certain politically-connected firms, while gradually destroying the purchasing power of middle-class Americans. Despite numerous warnings in the past, it is only now at a point of acute crisis that Washington insiders are beginning to awaken to the reality of the end of dollar hegemony.
"While I desire reform of our current monetary system, my own proposals have not been as all-encompassing as Ms. Shelton's suggestion to return to a Bretton Woods-style system. Her recommendation, though, that gold backing should make up a component of a future monetary system, is one that we would all do well to heed. My own legislative proposals focus around eliminating the taxes and laws that dissuade individuals and institutions from using gold as currency or as a backing for currency. By allowing market processes to determine the issuance of currency, we can allow individuals to decide for themselves what currency they wish to use. This would lead to a gradual reintroduction of sound money and avoid the market shocks that occur when monetary decisions are mandated by government fiat."

A sad, sad story February
A sad, sad story
February 29th, 2008 by Jonathan Bydlak
The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting today about a Quaker teacher who lost her job for “refusing to sign an 87-word Oath of Allegiance to the Constitution that the state requires of elected officials and public employees.” As I read the story, I was thinking to myself, “My goodness, I wonder why she refused to sign the oath…” Then I read a little further:
A veteran public school math teacher who specializes in helping struggling students, Kearney-Brown, 50, had signed the oath before - but had modified it each time.
She signed the oath 15 years ago, when she taught eighth-grade math in Sonoma. And she signed it again when she began a 12-year stint in Vallejo high schools.
Hmm. Why on earth would a teacher not agree to support the Constitution?
Each time, when asked to “swear (or affirm)” that she would “support and defend” the U.S. and state Constitutions “against all enemies, foreign and domestic,” Kearney-Brown inserted revisions: She wrote “nonviolently” in front of the word “support,” crossed out “swear,” and circled “affirm.” All were to conform with her Quaker beliefs, she said.
The school districts always accepted her modifications, Kearney-Brown said.
*GASP* *EGADS*
Supporting non-violence rather than the use of force?
Then I read the best part of all:
“Based on the advice of counsel, we cannot permit attachments or addenda that are incompatible and inconsistent with the oath,” the campus’ human resources manager, JoAnne Hill, wrote to Kearney-Brown.
It’s a sad day when Americans start viewing non-violence as incompatible with the U.S. Constitution.
If we are going to fire teachers because they add one word to the oath of allegiance to the Constitution, are we then willing to go all the way and vote out all the legislators that everyday take back their promises to uphold the Constitution and defend it?
I doubt that the same people who fired this teacher are willing to call for the resignations of their representatives on Capitol Hill for lying to the American public by violating their oaths to the Constitution. At least this teacher was being upfront about her beliefs.
I don’t know about you, but stories like this only make me want to work even harder to bring freedom, peace, and prosperity back to our great country.
