Hope for the best, and prepare for the worst
I woke up this morning with my mind on writing another blog called "Living Simply for Ron Paul." I got on my computer, eager to share how inspired I have been by Ron Paul's leadership and message, and how he and his supporters have motivated me to live very frugally so that I can spend more time on the campaign.
The first thing I did was check my email messages. I discovered that someone had encouraged me to delete my blog entitled "What if Ron Paul Died Today" because it was disturbing and off topic. I thought that maybe they were right. Maybe this was not the best way to introduce myself with such a controversial topic. Then I went to the blog, and discovered that over 200 people have already read it,and 19 have commented. I guess it is too late I to protect people from this disturbing thought. And I feel encouraged to see that some have agreed with me. What a lively and thought provoking discussion has ensued!
I feel torn. On one hand, I want to only focus on the positive. If you ask anyone who knows me, the first thing they would probably say is that I am a positive person, always looking for the good in people and what is happening in the world. I also am a person of faith, believing in a God who only wants the best for us.
Yet, on the other hand, there is reality. Good people die everyday. Some die of natural causes, some are brutally murdered. But they die.
Also, I know too much. For the past 33 years I have known about such things as the Illuminati, the fraud of the Federal Reserve Bank, the illegality of the income tax, and many of the things that Ron Paul talks about. I chose to focus on solutions rather than telling everyone how bad it is.
I don't like to dwell on the fact that our economy is so fragile. Or that at any moment we might have a contrived terrorist attack which gives our government the excuse to impose martial law. Or that for whatever reason we are not able to get the oil we need to transport our food. We are so vulnerable and so dependent on outside sources for our survival. So instead of focusing on that, and the thousand and one other negative things that are happening, I choose to focus on what we can do to become people who can take responsibility for all aspects of our lives.
In my 33 years of community organizing and being in leadership roles, I have never had anywhere near this kind of response to my ideas. Time after time I have encountered apathy, or people who are just too overwhelmed to do much of anything. Also, people who don't agree are often silent, and they simply reject me and my views. Others who agree are sometimes afraid to stand up and be different. Many get angry because I push their buttons, When these things happen, we are divided. The enemy's divide and conquer tactics win out once again. I sense the possibility that with this freedom movement many are willing to agree to disagree, and keep our eyes focused on the common goal of freedom.
And so I stand in awe of the feedback I have received. Tears came to my eyes as I read all the posts. I actually agree with the essence of all of them. We want Ron Paul to live. We want his message to get out. We want to be positive. We want to hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.
Those of you who think I should not even think about Ron Paul dying perhaps do not know about what happened to the movements such people as Gandhi and Martin Luther King lead. When Gandhi was killed, the divisiveness and infighting was horrible. He had not focussed enough, I think, on building bridges between the Hindus and the Muslims. Too much focus was placed on him as the leader. People practically worshiped him, it seems to me.
When Martin Luther King was murdered, the leadership team fell apart,. There was no one to take over. Some think he was killed because he started attacking the government for being in Vietnam, and being an imperialistic nation. This was going to far. If the momentum of his leadership could have continued, perhaps we would not be in the dire straits we are in now.If people had thought about a replacement ahead of time, the organization he was leading would not have fallen apart so easily.
I have had at least 5 people say to me, "They are not going to let Ron Paul live." This is a real concern to many. They feel sad to think about it. They even allow it to contribute to their hopelessness. That is why I want to think ahead to possibilities.
I hope this blog will encourage people to pray for Ron Paul's safety and health. I have thought that he would be divinely protected. I didn't want to think that he might be taken away from us. But if good people like John F. Kennedy, Gandhi, Robert Kennedy, and Martin Luther King were lost to us...people who were loved and prayed for, I'm sure--we could lose our beloved Ron Paul.
I saw him on the news, and I thought he looked rather tired. I wondered if all this campaigning might be exhausting for him. Whether or not he is tired, I wanted to take some of the load of f off of his shoulders.. I care so much about this man. I feel so grateful to him. I will renew my prayers for him--and encourage others to the same. And pray for all of us supporters, too.
Today I might write for hours on this blog to get all my ideas out--because I could die today. I want to live as if this might be the last day of my life.I believe that Ron Paul supporters are going to be some of the main people who can save this great nation. And they might read this. I have found over and over again that the seeds of ideas I have planted have meant a lot to people, and they have made profound changes in their lives because they were ready.
You have all inspired me. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Well there is alot we can do.
I'm sure many of you feel the same. So we have this passion, we have this conviction, and we have the moral high ground.
The question follows, what do we do with it? Who would we rally around in case of emergency?
1. We need to start getting multi tierd. We need to start paying attention to the senate and house races this election cycle. If there is not a candidate running we like WE RUN AGAINST THEM. Surly out of 50,000 meetup members there are people with civil service in their hearts. Any job worth doing is worth doing yourself. Use your passion, convictions, and morals. Take a stand thats what we do. Its not like you don't already have a huge advantage of support across the nation. Its not like you have to make up a platform one has been provided for you. ITS CALLED THE CONSTITUTION.
2. We start running for state offices. Folks this is where we either put up or shut up. It's either worth doing or its not. Its not like we have to win them all, but we have to win some of these spots. I encourage any and all if you have ever thought of running now is the time.
3. We need Governors It might seem like a stretch but it can be done. We are pushing a guy to the white house.
If we are serious we better act like it. We better start organizing for this part of the election too. I would like to see more organization in this area myself. I have a governor and a senator in my state that has to go. I will be doing everything in my power to get them out of office when their time comes.
You're not the first to express these fears...
See this blog entry and scroll down to the paragraph that begins "WE are expecting Dr. Paul to literally risk his life [...]"
I agree that this movement needs to begin looking BEYOND simply getting Ron Paul nominated and then elected. There is much more work than that to do, and it will take more than one man to do it.
The Thread
I am blown away. I have only known about Dr. Paul since May. Like a thread on a sweater when it is pulled the sweater begins to unravel, so has my whole concept of my country. I am in morning for the image of what I assumed was reality. Each day I pray that surely I have reached the end of this deception played upon myself and my fellow Americans. I am sure that those in charge will find a way to limit our access to information. The more I learn, yes you are correct Dr. Paul is in danger. Dr. Paul is a wise man and I am happy to see that he has been able to see the fruit of his labor. Everyday people are working to get his message out, Dr. Paul made his message simple follow the Constitution. The Constitution is the road map to Freedom, it unites us, let no one divide us.
I agree and I actually
I agree and I actually brought this a few days ago and also mentioned we need to have a plan B. I don't want to think anything could happen to Ron Paul either but as I mentioned before Aaron Russo is sadly no longer with us and unable to see some of the fruits of his labor. I would not have heard about Ron Paul when I did if it wasn't for Aaron Russo...RIP. My boyfriend donated money to RPs exploratory committee when they were still trying to determine if there was enough support to warrant him entering the race. People are united all of the country and ready to fight for freedom because of this man. It would be devastating if he did pass on and the whole movement fell apart because we were unprepared. He has been saying the same things for 30 years and it wasn't until now that we the American people were ready to fully embrace the freedom message. His death would be tragic but his thirty years of devotion would be invaluable because we would carry on his work. The idea of him passing after fighting hard for 30 years and the baton not being passed makes want to throw up. I am very concerned about his health too. He is looking more and more worn in his interviews. I hope with every fiber of my being nothing happens to him and yet we need to be prepared for the worst. Rand Paul 2012?
Mark Sanford
Rand is more of an anarco-capitalist from what I've heard. Good man, great ideas, but I'm not ready to give up completely on state protection of life and liberty just yet. Paul commented in an interview a week or two back about the governor of South Carolina, Mark Sanford. When he was in congress he apparently would ask Paul to explain the reasoning behind his votes, and then after a while started voting with him. I don't know much else about him, but it sounds like he's bought into the message and knows how to win elections.
Beautifully said
Too many are just in campaign mode (and I understand that we need to be to a very large extent), but more people need to wake up and see the big picture. Obviously, whoever is voting for RP has woken up to a large degree, and can rally behind him. To me, and I'm sure to many others, his words are like a truth serum and I just can't get enough. Ron Paul has cured me of apathy and hopelessness, but as you say, that can be a fleeting sensation if we allow ourselves to be silenced.
To talk about something that is unpleasant to think about can be hard, but we must consider where we go from here. Many of us have differing views and tastes and so on, but it's too easy to think he is the glue that holds us together. We must remember what Ron Paul has said, that we invited him to our revolution. What truly holds us together is a desire for freedom to have those differing views and to tastes. It's the constitution. It's the fact that we want to be proud to be Americans again.
To lift the shackles of governement oppression we must not (and it kills me to say it) put all our eggs in one basket. That's not to say I don't fully believe in Ron Paul, of course I do. If you want the truth, I'd gladly take his bullet for him before seeing him fall, but I will most likely not get that chance. I'm sure many of you feel the same. So we have this passion, we have this conviction, and we have the moral high ground.
The question follows, what do we do with it? Who would we rally around in case of emergency?
When Bush said "You're either with us, or you're with the terrorists," I believe he meant those words with every ounce of honesty left in his shrivelled little soul. We'd be kidding ourselves to think Ron is not at risk.
I think the points you raise are not only valid, but need answering immediately. We must be prepared for all eventuallities. We've come too far to turn back now. We've worked damn hard to get this revolution rolling and if we want to "keep the fruits of our labor," we must not let our momentum be stopped by even the most sinister act.
It is indeed a shame that this question needs to be raised, but the uglyness of the truth does not make it any less true.
Amen, amen and amen.
Amen, amen and amen. Couldn't agree more. We have GOT to win this thing because I can almost guarantee that NO other candidate inspires their supporters to say "I would take a bullet for this man." The only solution I can think of is Rand Paul 2012.
one thing we can do
One thing people can do is join organizations that believe in small government. One of these is downsizedc.org. Another thing people can do is support liberty orianted radio shows such as Free Talk Live. Radio shows such as Free Talk Live are a great way to get the message of freedom and liberty out to the masses. Check out http://www.freetalklive.c.... You can do these things no matter if Ron Paul wins or not.
