New Ron Paul Ad.. lets jerk em out of their seats

Almost forgot to mention...

The video has been watched a couple thousand times from the www.eteli.com site now, and I've had great reviews of it through mail and through the site.

A few people even mentioned it made them cry. INTENTIONAL :)

One of the folks who responded well to it is the wife of one of the European Libertarian Party founding fathers, and she passed it on to him. Links to the eteli site are supposed to start propogating across libertarian networks soon - which will hopefully bring more visitors, members and viewers to the eteli site.

Also, a note on YouTube. I understand that the video (and hopefully future videos I make, or show up on the site) have been requested for YouTube uploads.

The eteli site was created for many reasons - one of which was that YouTube was censoring RP videos. I'm kind of torn between two ideas.

The first, YouTube has a lot of traffic and is already established, so videos 'right now' reach a lot more people than the eteli site.

The second is, if I make my own videos only available on eteli, people will be forced to go to eteli to view them. That makes for more visitors, more members and hopefully more votes for RP.

What I think I'll do is put the videos on eteli first... for a day or so.. so they can 'premier' there - then pop a copy of them on YouTube after that.

Like I said.. hard to balance that decision. YouTube has more traffic - but they're almost MSM in nature, eteli has a lot less traffic - but is growing.

I'll figure it out :)

To those who mentioned the audio track being kind of dark, that was intentional.

Some mentioned that there were too many words and not enough pictures, or that the words overlapping the speaches was difficult.
I understand that concern and the next one will be better.

This one, mainly was by request from a deaf friend who is an RP supporter, but mentioned that the videos available tend to not drive any message home for deaf viewers.. thus, lots of text.

I just changed the format to the 'correcter' one than I had on before. It turns out the codec for encoding I was using was my problem. I used an alternate and it worked out great :)

Additionally, now BOTH versions (the swf for those using IE or a browser with a Flash SWF plugin, and the flv for everyone) are on the site... and both are now full size.

Sorry about the delays in getting those put up right, but it was my first try at it so I had some learning to do.

and ad well done I thought. My only suggestion would be to add a couple of question marks after the big yellow WHY to give it more impact.

These viewpoints are coming from a senior citizen whose son is a professional videophotojournalist. This is my personal, hopefully constructive critique. I found the format too dark and gloomy. The words on the screen were rather small and not eye-catching. The content is very good, but it just does not "grab" your attention. Also, the video stops about 20 seconds prior to the ending. I would suggest that you brighten it up, use larger text. Best of luck - it is wonderful that you put such effort into getting Dr. Paul elected!

I love the music, love the quotes, and the questions.

However, this is my constructive criticism:
1. reading questions and hearing speeches at the same time is confusing, as in, which one am I gonna pay more attention to? I'm thinking of new people who never heard of Ron Paul, they wouldn't be familiar with his speeches, and so will need to really pay attention to them before they can sink in.
2. the ending is kinda abrupt?

Not sure if I got to the actual end. Something happened at around the 1 minute to go mark. The vid was still playing but the sound cut off abruptly and the image stopped moving. Other than that, this is *very* good work!!

Okay; I was choking up despite myself, and a couple of tears indeed trailed down my cheeks. ColdFusion, man, this is awesome.

Do, please, add "VOTE" and "PRESIDENT" in there. Remember, a whole lot of people who have relied on OM still don't have name recognition of the good doctor. For all they know, "Ron Paul" bringing "Hope for America" might be some scientist working against global warming.

Seems that there's extra playing time (about :58 seconds) indicated on the screen at the end -- did I miss any of the ad? Or is that just a bug? (Viewed in Safari, on a Mac, btw!)

in any add in any banner you always need to ask what you want people to do. A nice big "vote for Ron Paul" at the end would have been great. But it was awefully nice.

I want people to vote for Ron Paul so i make sure it is on everything i hand out. the phrase " Vote for Ron Paul".

I forget how many years ago there was this big thing in an election where candidates stop putting vote on their signs something about space to fit the name. Even when you write a resume you are supposed to ask for the job three times in the cover letter. Let's remember this and get Ron Paul votes, it's what the web page hits are all about!

I'm still redubbing hehe. Takes awhile with a file this long.

I ended up running the whole video through my system and doing a complete re-record of the entire audio track.

Originally I had the background music as one track and all the speaches as separate tracks.

Now all the audio is on a single stereo track, so hopefully it will be easier to get it synced up right.

I'm still a padowan learner.. not yet a video jedi ;)

I'm in the process of making a different file format out of it.

Seems flash SWF files are not too cross-platform friendly, so I'm reformatting it in WMV so I can then make a flash FLV out of it (techy mumbo jumbo).

Don't know why it wouldn't work for some, while it does for others.

It's a flash swf file.. could that be what the problem is? I'll have to reformat it to an flv or something and see if that fixes it.
