Focus on the Family Action leaves out Ron Paul **UPDATE**
Focus on the Family's Action Candidate Commentary has video and comment about Hillary, Obama, Edwards, McCain, Goul, Romney, and the Huckster, but nothing about Ron Paul. Please POLITELY let them know they forgot someone.

Doh! What did you expect?
The church, pastors, priests and brainless followers are most of the problem. I mean, get real. Whenever I think Christian, I think… http://tinyurl.com/35oojx

but i'm christian, and i don't behave in such an unorderly nor odd way... except for when devin hester returns a punt for a touchdown, then i get a little goofy. but not when i'm pondering the cross or my salvation through Jesus.

I sent them an email this morning and it did not bounce back but I have yet to get a reply.
just called them
@ 866 655 4545 and had a really good conversation with someone named Jeff who the receptionist forwarded my call too. He didn't seem to have talked to a whole lot of people on the issue, so i'm sure more calls could come in handy. He did say he had gotten an email about it (i think from his higher-ups) which gave him info on the situation. He said that the reason Ron Paul isn't on the page is because when the picked out the candidates they were trying to get candidates who they thought were likely to have a shot at it based on national polls, and this was before any primaries. At one point he told me "yeah, it seems like even though Ron Paul's campaign has been mostly under the radar in the news, he seems to be gaining some ground recently, doesn't he?" so he's not totally out of touch with what's going on. I made sure to mention that I wasn't some random guy with no connection to Focus on the Family, having grown up watching McGee and Me, still listen to Adventures in Odyssey, have read books by James Dobson, and have even donated to them in the past. I also pointed out that Ron Paul is by far most in line with the Pro-life, Pro-family stances that Focus on the family is all about. He agreed with me on these comments, and told me he would definately forward my request to have him included in the candidate commentary page. I told him, even if there's no video, it would be great to have *something* on the page about Ron Paul, even just a textual representation of what he stands for. He also mentioned that they would be talking about him on their citizenlink show tonight, 10pm eastern, and that they might be posting stuff from that show on the candidate commentary page.
i kept really polite and level-headed the whole conversation, and he seemed very open to what i had to say. Who knows, i might have converted him to vote for Ron Paul on the 5th by the way he responded to what i had to say about him. :-)
More people, call! it's great if they are sounding like they will be including him in some way or other, but we should keep on calling/emailing until it actually happens. i'm guessing calls are better--they won't get lost in a heap of emails; they actually force a real person to think about the issue the whole time you're on the phone with them. And i had pretty much no wait to get on the phone with someone.
Perfect response!
This is the kind of polite, professional and informative response we should all be contributing (not just in response to this organization). Know who you're talking to first and foremost. This post is a good example of knowing what they do before you get upset about what they don't do.
Bravo and well spoken. Let's see if it makes a difference.
Lots of great polite emails examples here...

Here's my response
Growing up as a Lutheran in north central Kansas I have spend a lot of time listening to Dr. Dobson and Focus on the Family on the local radio stations. Because of our similar beliefs I thought I could trust your news reporting. Tom Minnery claims that you are an alternative news source, and that "our straightforward discussion of the candidates and the issues leaves them flummoxed." In his September Action Update Mr. Minnery wrote, "Occasionally, we work behind the scenes with the media, and usually that means taking them to task for their bias." I find these lines hard to believe after checking your "Candidate Commentary" today. I was disturbed by the absence of Dr. Ron Paul. It appears you have taken a page right out of Main Stream Media's play book.
As an OBGYN Dr. Paul deplores abortion.
http://www.ronpaul2008.co...
He has also been endorsed by Pro Life activist Norma McCorvey.
http://www.ronpaul2008.co...
He has been a staunch defender of Christianity. "Rulings and laws separating citizens from their religious beliefs in all public settings simply restrict religious practices. The religious freedom required by the Constitution should not end the moment one enters a school, courtroom, or city hall."
http://www.ronpaul2008.co....
Since you have included Giuliani on the in your Candidate Commentary page I find it even more appalling that you have excluded Dr. Paul. Ron has beat Guiliani in every primary/caucus except one.
As a fan of Dr. Dobson and Focus on the Family I would like to know why you have exclude Dr. Ron Paul from your web site, and election reporting? With out reporting on Dr. Paul I find it hard to believe you are any different than the "biased" media.
Just Called
them and spoke with someone very politely about Ron Paul not among
the other video profiles. Here is their number: (866) 655-4545
a receptionist will answer...
It was a nice visit: they stated appreciation for
my "level headed" comments. Very calmly, was curious why he is left
off -- they have no real answer. I requested that he receive fair treatment
as the others and also as fairness for all who visit that site to hear
Dr Paul's message. I let them know how Dobson's books were helpful
in our raising children etc... ALSO, he menitioned that tonight after
the Texas Primary 10pm eastern they will talk about all candidates
and he specifically said they will include Ron Paul in this discussion.

it's all good!

We have been combed over once again!
Just Called
and had a very nice talk with someone at Focus....
their number is: (866) 655-4545
a receptionist will answer - They really appreciated my politeness...
they even referred to my comments as "level headed" etc...
Anyway, he also told me that tonight they will speak about Ron Paul
after the Texas Primary - this is to be streaming live tonight at 10pm
eastern on www.citizenlink.org
I mentioned that I had noticed that RP was not among the others
on their video profile and wondered if material wasn't submitted -
giving them the benefit of the doubt - there is no real answer at this time.
It is just important to call them and mention politely (they really appreciate that - as we all do) that we would like to see fairness for all.
I let them know how Dr Dobson books were helpful to us raising children
etc.. even donated to FOTF etc... It's all good!
Out to hang slim jims on door knobs for a while.....

may they get 1,000 e-mails today......SO BE IT.

my letter
I am upset with your exclusion of Ron Paul in your reviews of the Presidential candidates. He reflects wonderful Christian values as a person and leader:
1) He is pro-life
2) He has been married to one woman for 51 years
3) He is gracious and kind in all debates and discussions
4) He does not believe in initiating the use of force in any human relationships
5) He believes we should do unto others as we would have them do unto us
6) He is humble about his Christian faith – as Christ commanded us to pray in our closets, not on the street corner
7) He views all life as precious and a gift from God
8) He firmly supports the US Constitution without fail
9) He recognizes the values of the Founders of our Republic
In terms of the process of the election to date:
1) He has received the fourth highest total of raw votes of any candidate (more than Giuliani)
2) He has come in higher than each other candidate in at least one state primary / caucus
3) He is raising more donations than any other Republican candidate -- $75 at a time from small individual donors
4) He has raised more money from military veterans than any other candidate – including McCain
5) He has the money and support to continue all the way to the convention, while it is clear Giuliani and at least one other candidate will drop out after Super Tuesday at the latest
I believe it would be fair – and a good service to your audience – to give a fair assessment of Dr. Paul in your reviews of the candidates.
I used your letter,
edited, of course, for an email to the American Family Association because they had endorsed Huck early in the campaign. See it at the post about AFA: http://www.dailypaul.com/...
I absolutely LOVE copy and paste!
Brilliant email
Factual, logical, and inspiring
This is a great email.
Can I use it as a handout to fellow Christians? With a few edits, of course.
feel free
If it can help, I am happy!
Thanks!
I am a Ron Paul Precinct Captain in my small community, and therefore I can identify who is a Christian, who is a Senior Citizen, who is a 2nd Amendment supporter.
My precinct is large area wise, and would take weeks to canvass on foot, so I will try to mail out targeted information to the ones I can identify in these ways. The others I will just send general info.
Emailed Focus on the Family
They need lots of email people...we need a good portion of the evangelical vote to win.
Letter written--threatened boycott
I explained to them how extremely disturbed I was by this omission and that if it weren't corrected I would be forced to boycott them. Their commentary ought to cover ALL candidates running.
Campaign for Children and Families
Here's a scorecard from the Campaign for Children and Families:
http://www.savecalifornia...
Got this e-mail from friends who are RP supporters ...
...They didn't mention "Wallbuilders" by name, but very similar to the FOFA and Godtube "snubs"...we Christians need to hold these "ministries" accountable. Check out their videos below!
"I mentioned previously how upset my husband and I are over the "skewed" voter guides. We haven't found any that appear to present the total truth in a clear way. My husband made a 3 part video showing the guide and the fallacies contained therein. There is more than one "Christian" voter guide yet they all seem to come from the same template (containing the same spelling errors). Below is a series of letters, ending with one that someone sent to David Barton of Wallbuilders expressing shock at his voter guide. I was equally shocked. If anyone should have an understanding of the restrictions put on our Federal government by the Constitution, it should be David Barton!
Blessings ~ Pat"

My E-mail
To whom it may concern,
As believers in the one true God, we should value truth and justice as commanded in scripture. Why then do you not include Ron Paul on your list of presidential candidates? Not only is his exclusion a lie (he is a viable candidate for the Republican ticket), it is even worse when one considers that he is a Christian with a stronger testimony than even Mike Huckabee. Ron Paul has not only claimed Christianity, he has lived out its principles throughout his political career, and his attitude throughout the campaign has followed the example set forth by Jesus Christ. While it is debatable whether Ron Paul is the best candidate for president, he has lived a life of faith and conviction that deserves respect.
I am saddened to not only see his exclusion but also the lack of discernment regarding Mike Huckabee. While he "talks the talk", his attitudes and behaviors throughout the campaign have damaged the witness of Jesus Christ. He has lied on numerous occasions and exhibits a spiteful character toward the other candidates.
There are many non-believers who have been drawn into Ron Paul's campaign who are watching how we, the church, will respond to Ron Paul. They have been attracted to Ron Paul because of his ideas AND his character. But so far they have seen nothing but derision from the established "church" in America which is looking increasingly like the Pharisees of the Bible. They are watching you today.
In short, I am deeply and profoundly disappointed in your actions on this matter, and I now question if there is any further value in your efforts other than to bring harm to Christ's name. Please restore my faith in your institution.
good letter
I have no desire for my faith to be restored in their 'INSTITUTION"...the whole harlot system (man-made church system and its para-church daughters) will all come to an END.
This will be a wonderful day when that happens. I look forward to that day.
That's disapointing.
I sent them an email. It's sad that FOF would silence a Christian voice by omission.
Christians, weigh in!
Bump this, and contact FOFA NOW! I send them an e-mail.
Let's Reign! (Rev. 5:10)
I sent this polite email
FOUR days ago and still haven't heard back:
Dear Citizen Link,
As a long time supporter of Focus on the Family I am quite dismayed that you have not put Congressman Ron Paul on your Focus Action Candidate Commentary!
Ron Paul is a champion of the Constitution, staunchly pro-life, a wonderful family man, and has the integrity that all the remaining Republican candidates are lacking.
Is there some good reason you aren't covering him that I am missing? I have always considered Dr. Dobson and Focus on the Family to have the utmost integrity, and I would hope you are not resorting to the blackout of Ron Paul that the tv media is resorting to.
Sincerely,
A
shameless bump
Email them, they need many prophets to confront them
When Dobson and co. got their place at the political table, their human greed for power took over, and their commitment to truth vanished. They lack discernment, and are now tools of the enemy in this regard. Been watching that now for a long time, and that is my conclusion.
