coverage

I don't think that anyone was anticipating fair coverage of Ron Paul from the outset. We certainly have gotten it in other races.

LETS HAVE A REPLY AT THE READY

If things break the way they should and RP is one of 3 or 4 left in the race, An email will be passed along from friends etc with this information. Much like the Obama/ Muslim one I am sure we all received. If we have a concise rebuttle at the ready for all of us to use and immediately send out it would be great.

this was a 10% flat tax from 1984

I'm sorry, 23 years later he has a better plan. NO INCOME TAX.
old news, but even so it is still better than hucks 30% flat tax

Right On treber

Excellent Point treber. I'm going to add your input to issue number 4.

So far it looks like this:

///4. Ron Paul's tax plan is unfair to lower earners and would greatly
benefit those with the highest incomes. He has repeatedly submitted
amendments to the tax code that would get rid of the estate and gift
taxes, tax all earners at 10%, disallow income tax credits to
individuals who are not corporations, repeal the elderly tax credit,
child care credit, earned income credit, and other common credits for
working class citizens. Please see this link for more information:

4. Ron Paul has would end income tax, which is one third a workers take home pay, and he would not tax tips.

Original source

I think that I found the original source. http://wwjv4.com/republic...

This looks to be over a month old. It seems that someone is copying and reposting it. Also, most of the comments are critical of the article and pro-Ron Paul.

That's what I got too eBob

I appreciate that confirmation.

EDIT ME #9

//9. Ron Paul would butcher our already sad educational system. The fact
is that Ron Paul wants to privatize everything and that includes
education. Where we run into problems is that it has been shown (think
our current health care system) that this doesn't work so well in
practice. Ron Paul has introduced legislation that would keep the
Federal Government "from planning, developing, implementing, or
administering any national teacher test or method of certification and
from withholding funds from States or local educational agencies that
fail to adopt a specific method of teacher certification." In a
separate piece of legislation he seeks to "prohibit the payment of
Federal Education assistance in States which require the licensing or
certification of private schools or private school teachers." So
basically the federal government can't regulate teaching credentials
and if states opt to require them for private schools they get no aid.
That sounds like a marvelous idea teachers with no certification
teaching in private schools that are allowed to discriminate on the
basis of race. He is certainly moving forward with these proposals!

Remember his "bill to strengthen the American family and promote the
virtues of family life." or H.R.7955? Guess what? He basically
advocates for segregation in schools once again. It "Forbids any court
of the United States from requiring the attendance at a particular
school of any student because of race, color, creed, or sex." Without
thinking about this statement it doesn't sound bad at all. But
remember, when desegregating schools that this is done by having
children go to different schools, often after a court decision as in
Brown Vs. Board of Education. If this were a bill that passed, schools
would no longer be compelled to comply and the schools would go back
to segregation based on their locations. Ron Paul is really starting
to look like a pretty bigoted guy don't you think?//

9. Our education system is not educating and needs to end. When you talk about privatization, it’s not the same with Ron Paul as the Neocons /Neoclibs who call government subsidies and profits of corporate investment, privatization. Ron Paul wants the govt. OUT of business. Business should stand on it’s own good merit, not government investment called privatization. No I don’t think Ron Paul looks like a bigoted guy at all. I think those who think a government who gives tax cuts to the rich that doesn’t translate into help for the poor as bigoted. I see Ron Paul giving Constitutional Rights to ALL Americans and that’s not bigoted at all. Furthermore, I think it’s rather bigoted to think white folks have a better education system than minorities who may want to be free of the white man’s Education of LIES system.

In NY our schools are paid for by property taxes

the federal dept of education does nothing except raise the cost.
How would you segregate schools? who would even try that? what board of education would be willing to propose that? for what purpose? 72% of the teachers in city of rochester schools are black or hispanic. If you segregated the schools there would only be 28% of the teachers left or most likely it would be the white/non-hispanics that would get thrown out.
this is just a smear. Disregard it and get back to work

It's not just a smear

It's propeganda that is being distributed widely. I sincerely appreciate your help. I have been supporting Ron Paul North of San Francisco to Eureka and west to Reno Nevada. We are having hail and rain today, snow to 500 ft, roads are closed and I think this is a good project for me, and hopefully others today. Once a rebuttle is done, I would hope it could become a resource. Thank you for your help. I appreciate all I can get, as I have very strong opinions about these issues, but I don't think that's the bestapproach to respond, and why I asked for help.

EDIT ME #8

//8. Ron Paul has an unnatural obsession with guns. One of Paul's
loudest gripes is that the second amendment of the constitution is
being eroded. In fact, he believes that September 11 would not have
happened if that wasn't true. He advocates for there to be no
restrictions on personal ownership of semi-automatic weaponry or large
capacity ammunition feeding devices, would repeal the Gun-Free School
Zones Act (because we all know our schools are just missing more
guns), wants guns to be allowed in our National Parks, and repeal the
Gun Control Act of 1968. Now, I'm pretty damn certain that when the
Constitution was written our founding fathers never intended for
people to be walking around the streets with AK47's and "large
capacity ammunition feeding devices." (That just sounds scary.)
Throughout the years our Constitution has been amended and is indeed a
living document needing changes to stay relevant in our society. Paul
has no problem changing the Constitution when it fits his needs, such
as no longer allowing those born in the US to be citizens if their
parents are not. On the gun issue though he is no holds barred. I know
he's from Texas but really, common sense tells us that the amendments
he is seeking to repeal have their place. In fact, the gun control act
was put into place after the assassinations of JFK, Martin Luther
King, and Robert Kennedy. Please view the following links: H.R.2424,
H.R.1897, H.R.1096, H.R.407, H.R.1147, and H.R.3892.//

8. Ron Paul acknowledges the Second Amendment, which is not what I would call an “unnatural obsession with guns”. He claims that 9-11 was because of a long history of unconstitutional foreign policy. The Constitution is kept alive by using it, not amending it to kill it or ignoring it for a UN NOW. I think the best line in Michael Moore’s “Shooting for Columbine” was Chris Rock when he said gave his schpeal about bullets. He’s got a good point, and to get back to this “living constitution”, It appears you want to be chained to old amendments that keep us locked in the past, enslaving us to plans that obviously failed. It’s time we try Ron Paul’s simpler “CONSTUTUTIONAL RIGHTS for ewveryone”.

EDIT ME #6 It needs help

//6. A Ron Paul administration would continue to proliferate the
negative image of the US among other nations. Ron Paul supports
withdrawing the US from the UN, when that has not happened he has
fought to at least have the US withdrawn from the United Nations
Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization. He has introduced
legislation to keep the US from giving any funds to the UN. He also
submitted that the US funds should not be used in any UN peacekeeping
mission or any UN program at all. He has sponsored a bill calling for
us to "terminate all participation by the United States in the United
Nations, and to remove all privileges, exemptions, and immunities of
the United Nations."

Ron Paul twice supported stopping the destruction of intercontinental
ballistic missile silos in the United States. He also would continue
with Bush's plan of ignoring international laws by maintaining an
insistence that the International Criminal Court does not apply to the
US, despite President Clinton's signature on the original treaty. The
International Criminal Court is used for, among other things,
prosecution of war crimes. Please see the following links: H.R.3891,
H.AMDT.191, H.AMDT.190, H.R.3769, H.R.1665, H.CON.RES.23, and H.R.1154//

RESPONSE:

6. In a global poll, the world voted for Ron Paul. Ron Paul has more support overseas that any candidate. The NEGATIVE image owned by the USA is warmongering (except to capitaisitic ILLEGAL immigrants who flock to warmongering America), Ron Paul is the ONLY candidate standing to end the wars. The UN is who gave the USA a resolution for a WMD armed coalation of the willing for pre-emptive strikes war on Iraq. I call the UN UNITED NAZIs and I suggest you look at Agenda 21 and see how the UN says the earth can only sustain 50 million people and the rest must be eliminated. http://www.un.org/esa/sus...

Affirmative Action is RACISM

There are a lot of jobs you can't get in certain area if you are WHITE!

Martin Luther King said "we can't solve the problems of racism with more racism" and would be against it.

"There is nothing more damaging to a youth than to think he has an unfair advantage based on skin color." (paraphrase)...
Founder of the Tusgagee institute.

Affirmative Action needs to end.

Affirmative Action is Racism and promotes collectivism and the subculture instead of true integration. All of us speaking the same, not eubonics.. Dr. King shure would agree..

I agree zamboni

In number one I responded first thing:

The Bill of Rights protects ALL USA citizens. Ron Paul is the only candidate that voted against the Patriot Act, the Military Commissions Act, and others that take away our rights. Affirmative Action is unconstitutional because it provides special rights based on race (that is discrimination).

Am I on it?

EDIT ME

The paragraphs in //// are their statements, mine is under. This is what I have so far:

//Ron Paul doesn't think the government should interfere with anything
except what a woman does with her body. He consistently votes
anti-environment since he doesn't think government should interfere
with oil companies or any other industry making money. He even
opposes the Endangered Species Act.//

It is true that Ron Paul believes the government should not be a BIG BROTHER interfering with our Constitution and Bill of Rights, including the feds funding abortion. As an OB-GYN, he understands Roe Vs Wade isn’t helping women or freeing women or giving us any REAL choice. He understands that private property protects the environment better when the government isn’t subsidizing (interfering). Ron Paul looks at 9-11 and Katrina and Walter Reed and the Wars and he says…it’s broken and we need to fix it and we fix it by removing the problem.

//Here are 10 reasons NOT to vote for Ron Paul. I'm sorry I don't have
the author's name to give credit. And after this, let's get back to
messages related to Dennis Kucinich and Integrity Now!//

Here’s where you got your information:

http://wwjv4.com/republic...

What no debate? Ron Paul is THE PEACE Candidate who has UNITED three time Nader supporters, progressives, Greens, Democrats, and GOP as a coalition against the UN USA NWO (Neocons/neoclibs ) and the corporate party duopoly for war. Let’s see what issues are so much more important Global PEACE. I notivced you provided H.R. for reference, and without a Congressional year, Congress 107, 108, 109, 110…the links are not good. Some of the numbers listed are dead and long gone, which renders this to an opinion not a fact sheet.

//1. Ron Paul does not value equal rights for minorities. Ron Paul has
sponsored legislation that would repeal affirmative action, keep the
IRS from investigating private schools who may have used race as a
factor in denying entrance, thus losing their tax exempt status, would
limit the scope of Brown versus Board of Education, and would deny
citizenship for those born in the US if their parents are not
citizens. Here are links to these bills: H.R.3863, H.R.5909,
H.J.RES.46, and H.J.RES.42.//

1. The Bill of Rights protects ALL USA citizens. Ron Paul is the only candidate that voted against the Patriot Act, the Military Commissions Act, and others that take away our rights. Affirmative Action is unconstitutional because it provides special rights based on race (that is discrimination). Special rights are unfair and unequal. The IRS is a {PRIVATE BANK, not the Federal Government. Why should a PRIVATE BANK have RIGHTS to any investigation of a private school in the name of the government? Ron Paul wants to repeal TAXES, they wouldn’t need a tax-exempt status and they wouldn’t have Big Brother telling them what and how to teach, and finally, I agree with Ron Paul on his immigration stand. I see it as a national issue not a race issue. ILLEGAL immigration a form of slavery and I oppose slavery.

//2. Ron Paul would deny women control of their bodies and reproductive
rights.Ron Paul makes it very clear that one of his aims is to repeal
Roe v. Wade. He has also co sponsored 4 separate bills to "To provide
that human life shall be deemed to exist from conception." This, of
course, goes against current medical and scientific information as
well as our existing laws and precedents. Please see these links:
H.R.2597 and H.R.392//

2. Roe Vs Wade limits women’s reproductive rights giving poor women ONE choice while protecting men from any responsibility in siring unwanted pregnancy. Life begins at conception and there’s no need for us to be having unwanted conceptions. It’s time to get out of the Roe Vs Wade trap and free women from one choice and none for men.

10 Reasons that I WILL vote for him

This is somewhat slanted, but a lot of it is true. If I could respond to his 10 reasons.

1) Logic twisted backwards...Ron Paul supports equal rights for all people, his stance against affirmative action backs that. Affirmative action gives undue ADVANTAGES to groups of people..that's not equality.

2) Ron Paul has a personal belief against abortion (I do not) but believes that the fed shouldn't tackle the issue. We shouldn't prevent it, we shouldn't make it a right, and we certainly shouldn't pay for it.

3) Federal minimum wage...i'm sure you could have a discussion on this, but I've read viewpoints that it depresses the wages in this country and creates unemployment. Argue if you will...

4) "Ron Paul's tax plan is unfair to lower earners..." What??? What is unfair is the lower earners pay next to nothing and middle class picks up the bill to the tune of 35% or more. It will correct a very unfair system of wealth redistribution.

5) Typical "green" attack. The more leverage we give the feds to control who's environmentaly friendly and who's not...the more corporations that will incorporate and move resources elsewhere. He's for building new oil refineries in the country...and that's a bad thing?

6) Ron Paul's foreign policy would hurt the US's image internationally? What??? Yeah...we'd stop funding the UN's wars, but we'd also stop our own wars. We'd move occupying troops out of over 100 countries, and this will hurt our image?

7) The international criminal court? Just because Clinton signed it and Kyoto, does not make it part of American law. Read a law book, or the US Constitution. Only treaties approved by congress are valid. The president can sign whatever he likes, but it's not binding. Get over it, we don't need to be subject to another level of "justice."

8) Basically...means this. Ron Paul would not make a gay marriage universally applicable. Means if you get married in the bay area, the feds are not going to force South Carolina to recognize it. His position is the feds have no business even defining marriage.

9) Gun control...I'm tired of simpletons who don't understand this issue. Here it is...the guns are here...there are hundreds of millions of guns in this country and it's unfathomable to get rid of them all. So, any law forbidding guns assures that only criminals have them. Gun control is an idea supported by short sighted people...they think guns=violence...so no guns=no violence. Check the number of carjackings in Texas for proof.

10) Ron Paul would butcher our already sad education system. No...he would fix it. The reason it's sad is because for 40 years it's been more and more of a top-down policy controlled system. It allows no freedom within the system to try new means of reaching students, and is horrible at preparing our children for the world they face. Think about it this way, describe a classroom in the 1950's vs. today. What has changed?

I'm with you Jeff

I innitailly started my replay as you did and then I thought, "I think I should address THEIR argument point by point. I;m on three now.

3. Ron Paul would be disastrous for the working class. He supports
abolishing the Federal minimum wage, has twice introduced legislation
to repeal OSHA, or the Occupational Safety and Health Act and would
deal devastating blows to Social Security including repealing the act
that makes it mandatory for employees of nonprofits, to make "coverage
completely optional for both present and future workers", and would
"freeze benefit levels". He has also twice sponsored legislation
seeking to repeal the Davis-Bacon Act and the Copeland Act which among
other things provide that contractors for the federal government must
provide the prevailing wage and prohibits corporate "kick backs." Here
are the related legislative links: H.R.2030, H.R.4604, H.R.736, and
H.R.2720

lol

Yeah I saw that on facebook a few months ago...

The guy is basically arguing that we should have socialism and that the state can cure all ills.

He is taking all of RPs bills completely out of context, intentionally.

I agree. It's slander

And it's why I feel it should be addressed. I need some help responding because I agree with Ron Paul so I have a hard time not simply say I agree with Ron Paul and leave it This is an opportunity I believ to educate. A post belowwriten by Susan claims the HR isn't even active..I think things like this are important to note, so I'm really happy I asked for help and I sincerely appreciate the help I am getting. THANK YOU

WoW

This is easily discredited...

"Although we
> are a progressive blog and both William and I support Democratic candidates,
> vocally, we are constantly barraged with pleas and "stories" to win us over.
> The frightening thing that I have witnessed is that many liberal voters are
> giving some credence to Ron Paul's campaign and message."

bogus - http://groups.google.com/...

Zeros do make a difference....

Take out the zero and google H.R. 5484 and it comes up correctly.

dude relax

It's on about 15-20 total sites and it's some troll who copy and pasted it to try and start some drama. Ignore him.

I think this guy forgets

I think this guy forgets that Ron Paul wants to bring back a free market, which would act better than any government in regulating many of these things he wants to change. Although the one thing that worries me is his stance on the environment--he has voted against a lot of Environmental protection acts; Does anyone have any information where he explains why he is against them--I'd like to think its not because he wants to destroy the environment, but that he didn't like those particular acts.

Oh I completely agree with you

and I think that's the hard part for me is how to put these isseus in a freeman's terms without sounding arrogant or quioxtic

I think you did a kick ass

I think you did a kick ass job myself. Way to fight the info war.

here is a brief synopsis of RP's views on environment

You can find more info by looking around on the net. He has done a few interviews on the subject. This is from wikipedia

"As a free-market environmentalist, Paul sees polluters as aggressors who should not be granted immunity or otherwise insulated from accountability. Paul argues that enforcing private property rights would hold people and corporations accountable, and would increase the cost of polluting activities.[165] He claims that environmental protection has failed in communist countries such as China, citing lack of respect for private property:
"The environment is better protected under private property rights .... We as property owners can't violate our neighbors' property. We can't pollute their air or their water. We can't dump our garbage on their property .... Too often, conservatives and libertarians fall short on defending environmental concerns, and they resort to saying, 'Well, let's turn it over to the EPA. The EPA will take care of us .... We can divvy up the permits that allow you to pollute.' So I don't particularly like that method."[166]
He believes that environmental legislation, such as emissions standards, should be handled between and among the states or regions concerned. "The people of Texas do not need federal regulators determining our air standards."[167]

I think your response is good enough for number 5

Issue 5. Ron Paul's policies would cause irreparable damage to our already
strained environment. Among other travesties he supports off shore
drilling, building more oil refineries, mining on federal lands, no
taxes on the production of fuel, and would stop conservation efforts
that could be a "Federal obstacle" to building and maintaining
refineries. He has also sought to amend the Clean Air Act, repeal the
Soil and Water Conservation Act of 1977, and to amend the Federal
Water Pollution Control Act to "restrict the jurisdiction of the
United States over the discharge of dredged or fill material to
discharges into waters". To see for yourself the possible extent of the damage to the environment that would happen under a Paul
administration please follow these links: H.R.2504, H.R.7079,
H.R.7245, H.R.2415, H.R.393, H.R.4639, H.R.5293, and H.R.6936

May I include this as the response to issue number 5?

Awesome Thank you

I wish we here at Daily Paul could build a response to this ten reasons article. What do you think? Is this forum able and willing? I couldn't find what you did and I really appreciate what you found! THANK YOU

Weak...

I believe that is the bill Dr. Paul introduced in 1984 that would amend IRS codes. I believe it repealed the estate tax.
