Why would I even want to vote for Ron Paul?

Say your walking down the street wearing your Ron Paul shirt, and someone approaches you and asks, "Why should I vote for Ron Paul?", "Who is Ron Paul?"

How would you handle that? What would you say? Read and get some knowledge of your candidate. If someone asks you and you don't really know anything, that will not win anyone over.

How about some comments here for some talking points about Ron Paul.

I might tell someone that he is the only congressman to opt out of the lucrative Congressional insurance and retirement fund.

Or I might say.....

what about other candidates

I would want to know what the other candidate's views are regarding foreign policy or the economy. For example, Ron Paul does not support the war in Iraq; it is unConstitutional, and he would withdraw troops. Giuliani is campaigning on the fear of another attack and would keep troops there indefinitely. People need to hear how great Ron Paul is comparison to Giuliani or Hillary so that his intelligence shines through even more.

CNBC who won the debate?

Ron Paul- 83%... up another 10%
AWSOME
poll page was down earlier as many thought NBC took it down because Dr. Paul absolutely trounced the other globalist shills
what little time he got he made the most of it by gosh..
Dr. Paul shocked & surprised a whole lot more people yesterday exposing yet again the fraudulent "federal" reserve system

Why Vote For Ron Paul

Ron Paul will:

- abolish the IRS
- get rid of the income tax and replace it with nothing.
- dissolve our relationship with the federal reserve and move toward a hard money system thereby preserving the value of the dollar and reducing rampant inflation.
- bring our troops home. from everywhere.
- protect our borders.
- reduce spending by following a humble foreign policy and by reducing the size and scope of the federal government by eliminating costly and ineffective departments and programs.
- protect our individual liberties from the threat of an aggressive, unprincipled, dishonest, secretive, haughty and power-hungry central government.

You want to vote for Ron

You want to vote for Ron Paul because you want to do X, because Ron Paul for sure won't forbid X or take the money you've earned and which you need in order to do X.

If you WANT something, then you necessarily NEED freedom and that's what Ron Paul would give you by taking the powers away from the politicians. Their gain in power equals your loss of freedom.

Don't talk. Listen.

Making a connection with the person is the most important thing to do.

- Ask the person what is important to him or her
- Identify three or four points that are important to him or her. Are they sick of government beuaracracy? Do they dislike the war? Does immigration bother them?
- After listening, paraphrase what they said to ensure you understood
- If you agree on any of their points, let them know
- After knowing their concerns, give them a few examples of how RP is going to address those issues
- At that point, bring up a few points that are important to you
- I would also talk up his fund raising and that his campaign is building momentum and is doing better than McCain. Don't trash talk the other candidates, but it's okay to put in a small jab like, "...and frankly the other candidates scare me just little a bit".

They are more likely to listen to you. You are more likely to hit on an issue that they care about. They get a good impression of they type of people that support Ron Paul (don't underestimate how important this is).

I like the approach!

In fact my husband and I are just talking about this during breakfast in preparation to our door to door campaign. Million cheers to Ron Paul.

Short and Sweet

"He is a 10-term Texas congressman and he is the only Republican presidential candidate that wants us out of Iraq. He values individual liberty and privacy and is a strong follower of the Constitution. You should listen to him speak, he's amazing!"

Here's an outline...

  • He has been married to his wife Carol for 50 years.
  • They have 5 children, 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
  • He was a track star in college, and served during the VietNam era as a Flight Surgeon in the Air Force and Air National Guard.
  • He’s a graduate of Duke University Medical School and a licensed OB-GYN who has delivered over 4,000 babies in a long and distinguished career. Many of those babies were delivered for free. He is of course, pro-life.
  • He is a scholar of the Austrian School of Economics and of American Foreign Policy and has written about 10 books altogether on these subjects. He has won many awards for his writings.
  • Two of his children became doctors but he never allowed any of his children to take federal student loans.
  • He himself does not participate in the lucrative Congressional Pension program and each year, returns money that is given to him by the government to run his office.
  • The National Taxpayers Union has given him the award of “The Taxpayers Best Friend Ever” for his stellar voting record.
  • He of course earned an A+ rating from Gun Owners of America.
  • He is currently serving in his 10th term in US Congress and is the founder of the Republican Liberty Caucus.
  • Writer Joseph Sobran called him the most honorable man in Congress.
He has been praised by commentators such as Pat Buchanan, John McLaughlin, Tucker Carlson, Joe Scarborough, Andrew Napolitano, George Will, and John Cafferty and receives many accolades from the Veterans organizations in his district.

  • He just had a very successful quarter in fundraising which now puts him in third place for cash on hand. He is the candidate who has taken in the most donations from the military, including those serving in Iraq. http://www.militaryforpau... (32%, 22% to John McCain)
  • He still knows what it means to respect the Constitution.
  • Ron Paul is a true conservative who has not only attracted the support of young and old from all walks of life but has proven he can unite us across party lines in the fashion of his dear friend Ronald Reagan. He has brought many people back to the Republican Party as well as attracted many new people.
  • He has already won 3 straw polls in NH and done exceptionally well in straw polls all over the country, coming in first or second in many. His rallies and speeches often draw thousands of supporters, more than any other GOP candidate, and he has won every debate poll so far.
  • Please visit his website at www.ronpaul2008.com to see what all the excitement is about.

I am sure you won't mind!!!

I copied pasted your outline and will distribute it to our members during today's meet up. We are preparing our door to door kit and your outline will be one of our materials. Thank you. Million cheers to Ron Paul.

I would say: I am voting for

I would say:

I am voting for him because after spending dozens of hours reading and learning about all of the candidates, Ron Paul is the one that I agree with the most.

Ron Paul is the only candidate (with the record to back it) who is fiscally conservative and upholds the constitution 100% of the time.

The Constitution is the document designed to protect the people, and any candidate who does not follow it religiously is not going to get my vote.

And for those who then say.... "The constitution is outdated".. I ask them if they have actually read it. And if any part of it is outdated it should be amended as it has been in the past, but our government is not empowered to work outside of the constitution.

Ron Paul talking point

How about that Ron Paul was the only Republican congressman to vote against the invasion of Iraq. He fervently opposed it.

How about that isn't accurate

There were 6 Republicans to vote against it in the House, including Paul. The others were Duncan, Hostettler, Houghton, Leach, and Morella. Chafee did in the Senate.
