I have wondered where the voices are of the singers/songwriters of the patriotic songs, the revolution type songs, the born in the USA'ers.

We know Barry Manilow contributed early into Ron Paul's campaign.

John Fogerty (CCR), Bruce Springsteen, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard and many more would be great to contact. If they haven't heard Dr. Paul's message, they need to hear it. Dr. Paul's message is speaking "their" songs.

Why are their voices quiet now? Perhaps they haven't heard the message.

Concerts with a "mix" of music styles would be great. A true reflection of the diversity of Ron Paul's supporters.

"Six Degrees of Seperation" - certainly seems there should be somebody to reach these people (and others).

I would assume that Rise Against would be interested, but I really don't know specifically what their politics are. But, since two of their albums are called "Revolutions Per Minute" and "Siren Song of the Counter Culture," I imagine they might be interested ;)

Oh and another great reason for a California event. WEATHER. In the summer it is always sunny.... pretty much no matter what.

I have lived there for 18 years and I haven't had to worry about weather for any summer event EVER.

I think someone should plan a concert weekend on the West Coast (is there a reason the biggest festivals are on that side of the US?). I know California will have already voted yet you will still be able to generate a TON of publicity... not to mention a lot of the artists live there so you won't have to worry about flying them way out to another place.

This sounds perfect to me. The previous comment also suggested Philadelphia. I couldn't think of a more perfect date or time. Get Bruce Springsteen there! Maybe him or U2 or someone that participated in the free Live AID stuff will help.

The festival is nothing if it doesn't turn into vote and money or vice versa. The angle needs to be that it is a FundFest for RonPaul, all monies to purchase TV Ad time on MSM. We can pick the best You Tube videos, with the help and guidence of HQ, and tell everyone that the money raised will go to purchasing airtime for them. That way people get a great concert, plus know their money is going to fund something constructive.

I don't mean to be negative, I think this is a great idea.

However, think of some different bands. Foo Fighters are good since they support Ron Paul. But Rage Against the Machine and many of the other bands mentioned are very left. They are socialistic. Against Me! is a great band, but they are left leaning anarchists. Most of these bands are outspokenly against free trade.

He did a whole album against the war in 2006. He sounds kind of luke warm on Obama in Rolling Stone Interview 29 January 2008. He needs an alternative.

Some things to consider:

Can we agree that this will be an outdoor event? I can't think of an indoor venue that would be big enough for what I envision! If outdoors, then weather - and consequently time of year - must be a serious consideration.

It should happen soon enough to have the appropriate impact on the presidential race while still allowing enough time to properly plan for an event of this scope. If April, then a place like southern AZ may be appropriate. If later, then more options become viable.

Arlo was big in the 60'-70's Get him on board!

Don't forget the Foo Fighters. Muse would also be a good fit.
Not sure if you wanted to stick to just harder rock but I'm sure Niel Young and Eddie Vedder would participate.

This should be open to all genres of music.
Open to all people
Ron Paul will be emphazied everywhere in this event (booths, signs, etc.)
Only bands who support Ron Paul
I like the DC idea of it being there but other places should still be considered.
We need big named bands to bring in max amount of people

If anyone has ideas or connections or anything let me know. I will update after I figure some things out about this.
