A Response To Christians

(coming from me, an Evangelical Christian, btw...)

To those Christians who say they support Huck, and, because they're pre-trib or whatever reason, feel they should not and could not "interfere" with the End Times that are coming...

-- that is an argument I've encountered plenty, myself. Sad; defeatist. But, I think I've just hit upon a response. Here it is:

You say that the rapture is coming, and there's nothing we can do about that; and, if we're in the fulfillment of the last times right now, then we shouldn't stand in the way, but let it take its natural course; and that whatever God wills to happen will indeed happen, and He doesn't need us to do anything about it...

Okay. Well, then...

...there's no need for us to show up at church to serve others or fellowship or get fed in the Word -- God will handle it without us.

...there's no need for us to pray for one another -- God will handle it without us.

...there's no need for us to care for widows, orphans, the sick, the poor -- God will handle it without us.

...there's no need for us to spread the Good News and save souls anymore -- God will handle it without us.

See; either the logic works both ways, or it doesn't work at all.

Seems to me, God often called (and still calls) upon people to carry out His missions: Noah, Moses, David, today's missionaries, etc. etc. etc.

I never saw His memo advising us otherwise.

Dear Brothers and Sisters - do you choose to have a voice as a voter? I would like to take this opportunity to share some important information with you. 6) Strong Military Defense – A common sense foreign policy based on the Constitution: no nation building, no entangling alliances, no illegal wars. Return to the “Just War Theory”. 7) Only Presidential candidate not connected to the Council on Foreign Relations. Every Christian should know what the goals of the CFR are; basically, they want to establish a one-world government. Richard Haass is the President of the CFR. Which of the candidates do you think he advises on Foreign Policy?

The government cannot legislate righteousness or enforce morality. As Christians, we are well-served by Freedom to do the work our Lord commissioned to us. Our hope is that you will take the time to get fully informed before the vote on Feb. 5th. May this information be a springboard to prayerful consideration for our future. “A good tree bears good fruit; a bad tree, bad fruit.”

Learning the truth about Huck will not be easy or kind for them. Folks, please hear this, and persuade Christian Huck supporters with love.

I just watched an Obama

I just watched an Obama celebratory speech and it left me with a really uneasy anti-christoic-false-profity sort of feelin'. It was amazing really... Saying things that i wanted to hear but leaving certian things open ended in certain ways that just made me sick. Or just out and totally contradicting himself. I mean, what's more damgerous? A guy like McCain that flaunts his sores? Or a guy that's smooth when he speeks and subtle with his deciet? I think now out of all the candidates, Obama freaks me out the most. It's the devil you do know versus the devil you don't.

Been thinking about this myself

It almost seems like God is giving this country a choice right now. Pick Ron Paul and the message of peace, thus remaining free and relevant in the world, or continue down the path of destruction. The Bible has many stories of nations that God was using until they became proud and tried to step beyond the bounds He had set for them. The results were seldom good for those nations.

Good Idea

I was almost one of those Christian's you encountered. Than I realized I can have all of the guesses to the end times that I want. But the fact of the matter is I don't, and ultimately we have no idea when exactly Jesus Christ is going to come, or exactly what he would want us to do. God doesn't need peoples help when it comes to the end times.

I am sure he can take care of that himself.

Nailed It

I'm a fundamentalist Christian - premillennial. But we are not supposed to intentionally usher in antichrist or Armegeddon. It's insane to try to make things worse. The Lord may not return for another 10, 50, 100, or 1,000 years. That's a lot of suffering to endure needlessly. I'd prefer my kids didn't have to grow up as slaves or in prison (reeducation) camps.

Fake? Or, Desperate?

Ya know...I don't think that's necessarily the case, that they're "fake" Christians.

Misguided, yes. Gullible, yes. Illogical and unthinking, yes. Ready to be taken away from the messy lives we humans endure here on Earth, and live forever in paradise -- yes.

Frankly, that last one sounds rather appealing, and is likely the strongest motive for relinquishing resistance, or even outright welcoming of "our fate".

But I'll bet these folks are, on the whole, well-intentioned, God-fearing, faith-driven people. People who are doing their best to serve God and obey His will.

The problem isn't that they're fake. It's that they are easily taken in.

They are so desperate to be freed from the fallen nature of this world and for the return of the Saviour (and who can blame them?!), that they're kinda anxious to skip ahead to the rapture part, because that's where the Good Stuff happens. In all their Bible studies, though, they somehow missed the part about there being a lot of false prophets in the End Times, prior to the Second Coming. Not to mention that there's that Other Person who shows up before Christ.

Look, "end times" could encapsulate any stretch of time. There are plenty who think we've been in end times for ages and ages; others believe the end times started when Israel became a state; yet others think the end times are just about to start.

Many thought the Holocaust was the end of the world. For many, sadly, it was. But what if all Christians worldwide had, at that time, just given up and said, "There's nothing we can or should do: it is the destined End Times"? You and I wouldn't be having this discussion here. Hitler would have attained world domination and who knows where his madness would have gone?

Then again, there has been a type of resignation that has gotten us to where we are now...maybe because we have been blessed with peace and prosperity for so long, we got comfortable, and forgot the value of Liberty...I don't know...

In any event...

If the rapture happens tomorrow: hooray.
If the rapture happens in a year: fine
If the rapture happens in 20-50-100-1000 years...

...what will the lives of our children and our children's children be like in the meantime?

...when they ask us, why we didn't do everything we could to protect them, what will we say? "Ooops; I was mistaken"?

I think I've rambled a bit off my main point...sorry 'bout that. My point here is, rather than despise them, we really need to persuade them and help them see. Especially since we hope to welcome them into our fold.
