Also, don't expect the numbers to change much from where

they are now.

I have results in from Sunday caucus reporting and results were no better for Ron Paul so it will remain pretty much the same.

The 35% number is safe, I think it is more like 40-42%

All the towns I have reporting show consistently above 40% picked up in delegates.

I'm going to a post caucus meetup meeting tonight where I will learn more about how the delegate shake out will work at the state convention and strategy. I will report back as soon as I get back.

Maine turns out for Ron Paul

From a Maine grassroots organizer:

We have a tremendous Grass Roots organization up here in Maine, and we are proud to report that we are the 1st State in the entire nation to get Ron to the 20% threshold (reports show him at 19% with 70% of the vote in). This should be plastered all over the campaign website, and blog, and a press release done NOW so the Super Tuesday States can see it and see what is possible when we do our job of GOTV. The sad part is, I know of several instances all over this state (including my own town) where several "professed" Ron supporters ended up BLOWING OFF their Caucuses. Folks, this is afact: If all our people came out and SHOWED UP, we would have bested McCain in this media/preference poll. THINK ABOUT THAT AND ACT NOW. THERE IS STILL TIME. BRING YOUR WIFE/HUSBAND/SIGNIF. OTHER/SIBLING/FAMILY MEMBERS/FRIEND/NEIGHBOR. Also, even better news to report about Delegates. In Maine, the preference poll you're hearing about in the media is NON-BINDING and has nothing to do with getting Ron nominated. The critical part of the Caucus is having people step forward/volunteer/be nominated as Delegates from their town to goto our State Convention (May 3rd). It is THOSE delegates that cast the binding vote in Maine. Our grass roots network are reporting an average of 35% of all delegates being known/committed Ron Delegates. There are most likely more that we don't know about yet. But 35% is a good conservative figure at this time. What we just did in Maine should set an example and inspire all remaining States out there, and especially tomorrow's! Thank you, Mark D

Bad Feeling

I have a bad feeling that the results from today (Sunday) won't appear on CNN.com, Politico, Yahoo!, or anywhere else. It will probably stay at 68%, where it was yesterday, probably because Ron Paul took 2nd place, surpassing McStain.

Did Romney get all 18 of Maine's delegates?

and the rest of the pack, none?

Pre-pledged only

He got all of the unelected delegates. The others are still open.

68 percent counted

Still just abut 100 votes to catch the 100 year war, candidate.
100 votes. Still a chance for second place..This is beginning to remind me of Nevada.

Forget Romney

Why do people want Romney to win? Dont people remember that this guy was a CEO? I dont need some big power hungry boss that used to sit on his chair collecting millions a year while having no problem firing the working man running my country. VOTE RON PAUL 2008

The results make it seem

The results make it seem romney just landed 18 delegates and that's just really screwed up. I think rp scored second and the media has fudged the numbers like thiey did in louisiana and florida.

those results are

those results are hocus-pocus-BOGUS. read some of the comments below and on the other MAINE threads to get a feel for what really is happening.

Keep in Mind...

that these poll results are totally non binding: they have nothing to do with how many delegates are awarded for each candidate. What matters is how many delegates we get to go to the state convention, and earlier today, it was looking pretty good. Yes, Romney was winning the straw polls, but our man was getting his delegates elected (good work all you supporters who showed up and stuck it out!).

Why no updates?

Why is it taking so long for CNN to update results? They usually do it every few minutes. Do you suppose Paul surpassed McCain? The news media doesn't want us to know it?

Onward !!!

I thought for sure from all the hype that I was reading that Ron would win Maine outright. I guess it's up to us Minnesotans to shock the world!!!

calm down

RP may very well have WON MAINE (the DELEGATE COUNT). You see, the MSM is reporting the straw poll #s which is important but does not have any binding affect on how the delegates will vote. What the MSM publishes as the delegate #s is BOGUS b/c none of the delegates will state their preference until the State convention in May (basically the MSM is just guessing and they are WAY OFF). I know for a fact that a lot of people cast their vote for McCain, Romney, or whoever and then left while the RP supporters stayed and got themselves elected as delegates.

how does any candidate make up 4 points then go ahead by 3 bullshit!!!!

Portland - Maine's largest city had some fun

Here is a message we received from a fellow meetup member:

PORTLAND, MAINE

Ron came in 2nd in the presidential preference poll with Romney winning. I do not have the final numbers to give you the percentages.

The Portland caucus lasted 6 hours. Part of that was due to the Portland GOP trying to run the show I don't think they have ever had more than one nomination for any of the caucus officer positions and they resisted our efforts to have a voice in that matter. We also had a very large turnout of voters.

One of our guys is delegate chairman and I think we have 21 out of 59 delegates. We also have most of the alternates.

I went with my husband Adam and both of us are delegates. I agree with Mark as far as bringing a spouse. Most of our supporters arrived alone.

Forrest kept notes of everything and will have the final numbers to report.

I would like to say thank you to all the Ron Paul supporters who showed up today and a huge thank you to those who stayed through the entire event so we could elect one of our own as Delegate Chair.

thanks for the portland update!

I am in Bangor. I agree that people need to bring a spouse or friend or neighbor. I had to DRAG my wife (called in all the favors...and fear I will be paying for a long time). But it was worth it! Every Romney supporter brought the extended family to vote. If you leave your spouse and uncle and eldest kid at home that is a shame! You could have doubled, tripled, etc. your impact!!! Anyway. The Bangor Caucus was the biggest in recent memory. We ran out of ballots! We get 43 delegates and at least a dozen went to people openly supporting RP. I think there are probably a few more than that though. I also think there are a lot of fence sitters (delegates who still don't know who they support) that I will have to get to work on between now and May 2nd. Other neighboring towns had much higher RP delegate ratios. Even if McCain ends up with roughly the same # of straw poll votes I do not think his delegate total will be very high. I think it is mostly Ron Paul and Willard Romney supporters who were "hard-core" enough and supportive enough of their candidate to run as a delegate.
Very curious to see statewide results.
Rumor is RP won Aroostook County and I think it makes sense. ALL small towns where nobody has a vested interest in any of the special interest candidates. Places where you have to drive really far through an ice storm to get to your caucus location.

Bangor is one of the cities I don't have #'s on yet

Do you know what each candidate got in Bangor?

Great work! Thank you.

Great work! Thank you.

Great job!

Obviously in Caucus states, sticking around until the end is very important. This is a good lesson to keep in mind.

I may be a vegetarian, but I'll defend to the death my right to eat pork!

No worries - read below from a Maine member.

I attended my town caucus in Maine (in York County). At each town caucus anyone was free to count the presidential preference survey votes and/or watch the votes counted. At my town caucus the votes were counted in front of everyone and this is most likely how it was done at the other towns as well. I don't expect that any fraud or unfair practices occured. Everything was conducted openly and fairly. The results in my town:
Presidential Preference Poll
Romney 9
Paul 6
McCain 5
Huckabee 2

However, Ron Paul got 1st place in delegates to the state convention for my town. My town can send 11 delegates to the state convention in May. All 11 seats were filled and 7 of the 11 seats were filled with Ron Paul supporters (this I know, not because delegates were required to express who they support, but because I personally know that these 7 delegates support Ron Paul). Ron Paul did not get 7 votes in the preference poll because one of the delegates nominated to the state convention had to leave early before the poll was conducted. Even though Ron Paul got either 2nd or 3rd in the presidential preference poll state wide, he likely did better with delegate representation to the state convention because many of his supporters were more willing to be delegates to the state convention. Even though my town filled its 11 seats, many towns did not fill there alloted seats because there were not enough people who wanted to fill them.

Keep in mind that the presidential preference poll is completely non-binding and has nothing whatsoever to do with the selection of delegates. I have already seen articles in the mainstream media which have said otherwise. This may or may not be true with the Democratic caucus next week, but it is not true of the Republican caucuses.

Hehe, Told You So.

I've been hollering to stop paying attention to Yahoo. It's just a pageantry count.
