I applaud your efforts.
However, I'm going to have to estimate that you spent somewhere in the high hundreds to low thosand dollars range to place that ad.
I think we all have to realize that we could spend this money to buy many hundreds of copies of Freedom to Fascism, and other materials that we could have handed out to individuals. And I would guess that not only would the # of people affected by it be much higher than ever this ad in a major newspaper will generate, but it will also get them to understand WHY Ron Paul is the only choice, not just the preferrable choice.
Again, good work with this, but maybe this should be the end of the big media push. We need to focus locally at the ground level from now on. Our big media events have not worked to sway people yet, so we need to stop wating our time and money.
I agree with you!
This is a beautiful ad, however I have sold advertising for nearly 20 years now and can tell you that you get a much better "Return On Investment"/Exposure doing 5 smaller ads versus 1 large one, especially in newsprint.
On this forum a few days ago I read about an investor willing to pay for some media ads for Dr. Paul, and was looking for good videos to be sent to him. I think that is wonderful however I believe that money could be better used on the design and delivery of an awesome direct mail piece to be sent to EVERY U.S. HOUSEHOLD or every household with registered voters! (Unless the Post Office is just as corrupt as the media) How else can guarantee that virtually every voter knows that Ron Paul is STILL RUNNING, what he stands for, and how they can get their country back! INVITE THEM TO MARCH WITH US IN DC! Radio, TV, Billboards and road signs are good, but at best they are only hitting a small percentage of people. I think that to get the best saturation for your money the best choice will be direct mail!
Just in case "Big Brother" would try to tamper with this: The outside design should be clever enough to peak the receipient's interest without raising suspicion of the Postmaster. The pieces should be printed by companies that we know support Ron Paul. After printing the mail campaign should be split up by each Ron Paul state headquarters. Then the pieces should be presorted and distributed to each local headquarters throughout each state. From there they are all mailed from all locations at the same time on the same day. This way the pieces are most likely to be delivered everywhere before someone could try to stop them!
Can YOU handle THE TRUTH?? Vote for Ron Paul and you'll finally GET IT!
WOW! I just noticed the cost...
Nearly $50,000?
I understand that this paper has a huge number of readers, but do you really think this is going to sway a large number of them? It may bring some along who like Ron Paul as a candidate, but you literally could have bought 40,000 copies of AFTF with that money. Using the Meetup groups, you could have passed all of these out to your neighbors, and created some true revolutionaries.
Like I said before, good work. But I think we have to start admitting that all of these big media efforts aren't winning Ron any primaries, and certainly aren't going to win him the Presidency.
We need to use these resources to get materials in the hands of regular people, who will become enlightened to the movement, not just our candidate.
It makes a good flyer too.
I printed out a bunch of these and gave one to every registered Republican in my precinct. Printed on legal-size paper, it is still legible and effective. At least one person, a neighbor, told me it convinced her to vote for RP. Too bad California's entire vote got stolen ...
BEST AD EVER!
brings a tear to my heart!...?
its way too wordy and hard to read
keep it simple:
McCain is for:
100 more years of war
which will lead to:
a bankrupt america and higher taxes for you
McCain is for:
Amnesty for 40 million illegal invaders
which will lead to
hospital closings, crowded schools, more welfare costs
higher taxes for you
McCain is for:
the Patriot Act. Limiting Free Speach (McCain Feingold), the right of government to search you and seize your posessions without a warrent
Which will lead to
the loss of your freedom and liberty and put America on the path to Fascism
There is an Alternative. His name is Ron Paul. Fox News, Cnn News, The New York Times, and the LA Times have all stated that Ron Paul is no longer in the race. He is. Why are they so scared of him? Because they want endless war and big government.
Because Ron Paul stands for freedom and the constitution
He will abolish the war state and bring the troops home
He will cut spending radically to save us from utter financial collapse and the collapse of the dollar. No other candidate will do this.
Restore a gold based currency so the government cant overspend and return us to stability
End the IRS. No more taxes on regular citizens.
End the department of education and other failed departments which have had no success despite being fed billions.
A vote to Ron Paul can lead to a brokered convention and a delegate fight. The war powers don't want this to happen. they want you to believe that the contest is over. Thats why they keep announcing Ron Paul is no longer in the race. Are you going to vote with the liars? or are you going to vote for truth.
vote Ron Paul to restore freedom.
cost of Ad
** oops, this was supposed to be replying to s.tristero below **
For the display ad, we used the 1/4 page ad, which fit as a 1/8 page ad in that local paper.
It cost $568 or so, for 1 run. The circulation for all the 9 areas is 60,000 people with Readership noted as 175,000
Unfortunately, they made a couple of significant mistakes,
... but they will likely re-run it for free, corrected! (which is a good thing, i suppose!)
The classified ads are very cheap, and one supporter whose husband has a small business said his customers notice classifieds more than display ads!
Classifieds in the Pennysaver are about $5 for up to 12 words, & another .25 per word. Some papers offer a "per line' price. And of course you would pay for the papers in different towns
I got the idea from this article:
How Ron Paul won Jefferson County [Iowa]

Note the comment about getting ads through the state press association. Please check it out for your state! (NY has one, so I will look into that)

A Full-Page Ad...
is a real attention-getter. Now that I think about it, I'm surprised that there was no push to have RP supporters nationwide place similar full-page ads in their local newspapers. Perhaps this is something we should consider for the future.
One problem with our grassroots effort is that we are not always as focused as we need to be. But when we are focused, and when our efforts are guided by someone like Trevor (as was the case with November 5th and Tea Party), the results can be AWESOME!
We need to put forth some kind of a concerted effort from here on out to get around the media bias that has proven to be our major obstacle. Full-page ads in local papers nationwide is one way we could do it, but I'm sure there are others. Hopefully Trevor or someone from HQ will step forward to orchestrate such a strategy.
Not always focused is putting it kindly...
Organizing this group is akin to hearding cats.
we ran a 1/4 page ad
last Thurs (1/31) in one of our smaller town papers, printed in the 9 different regions (from manofcommonsense.com)
and a bunch of simple classified ads in another small paper (Pennysavers).
We also put in an email address, just in case!

great idea tranquil
how much did it cost?
did you get any quotes for ads in the community run newspapers at all by chance?
Funny Thing ..
My wife told me that the ad jumped out of the paper .. but people where she worked were all clueless as to who Ron Paul was ...
Ron Who?
Here we are voting today and the majority of voters still have not heard of Ron ..
Great job MSM ,... The Murdochs win again?
some of us have put small ads in the newspapers
But those full page ads are BIG BUCKS and without mortgaging our houses, there is no way we can touch the prices. That's why we haven't done more.
which newspapers did you research?
which towns/cities?
how big was their market?
did you consider free community papers at all?
Ditto
I designed a small ad which fortunately received enough meetup donations to run for a week.
BEAUTIFUL! It's ok for
BEAUTIFUL! It's ok for other meet up's to adopt it?
Of course,
please use it and adapt to your locality.

Beautiful AD!
I printed out several hundred to pass out while canvassing on the 4th and at the polling stations on Feb. 5th. Our primary is on the 5th also so the ad was not only beautiful and well done, but it was very timely...Thanks so much!

Excellent!
Great job, good strong message and right to the point.
As a Giants fan, I stumbled for a second over the New England Patriots promotion, but you did it for the good of the nation so I'll get over it.
Kidding! Go Giants! Go Ron Paul! lol
!!! Gorgeous design + content !!!
The design is breathtaking, expecially for a newspaper ad. My hats off to the designer and the positively transcendent job that was done!
The best one so far and it makes me SO PROUD to be part of this r3VOLution. Never give up. Never surrender!!! JOIN or DIE!

I'd lose the football.
well done ad!
and yes, the Patriots had a fine season, although it will have to end with a LOSS!

What a great Ad!
Way better work than the official campaign is doing. The cost to run a full page ad in the largest circulation paper, The USA Today cost $85,000. I'm guessing this ad in the Boston Globe to be around $20,000......this should be running in every major State paper with Tuesday primaries....but it won't.........I wonder why? Are we saving our "attack messege" for Wednesday, after the delegates are decided? Wake up Campaign Staff!
