If Ron Paul doesn't make President, then it will be great to have him inside Washington leading the movement to strip Washington and the Federal government of it's power. Meanwhile we need local governments to take up the slack, so get out there and run for local government.

Sorry, I know we post "all-things-RP" here, but this has just come out all over the internet, and it concerns the pressure put on Congressman Kucinich and his seat back in Ohio, very similar to what the Neocons are doing down in Texas to unseat RP. It apparently hit the blogosphere a few days ago, so who knows how true it is.

Here's the "rumour story" leaked by the Kucinich For Prez camp:

“Before the Nevada primary, Dennis [Kucinich] was visited by representatives of Nancy Pelosi and the American Israel Public Affairs Committee — AIPAC”

They told Dennis that if he would drop his campaigns to impeach Cheney and Bush, they would guarantee his re-election to the House of Representatives.

Kucinich threw them out of his office.

Dennis now faces the toughest election campaign of his entire tenure in congress, with huge amounts of money being spent to turn his constituents against him due to “his neglect of his district while he ran for president.” Citizens should legitmately ask where Cimperman’s immense media warchest comes from.

So yes, Virginia, it is exactly as you suspected. This man the mainstream media say is not relevant, poses such a threat to the powers that be that they are hellbent to destroy him, and remove that troublemaker from congress.

It's probably just a stunt to put pressure on Pelosi to move the hearings along,
which she vowed not to do since the become SOTH. But if it's true...holy crap!

Made my donation, then posted on the "How can I help" page of the Ron Paul congressional site. I am several states away with elders to care for besides the normal responsibilities so I can't just go canvas. So I asked for an email listing of phone #'s to help with the calling. I have 6000 free cell phone minutes to use, bet you have some too.

It is pathetic that we can raise half a million dollars on a single mini-bomb day, but Ron's Congressional campaign is still struggling at around $180,000. This after he personally asked us for help. Regardless of whether you think having him in Congress makes that much difference, the fact is if the establishment can unseat him with a neo-con, they will paint it as total rejection of his message. We can't allow that to happen. For those who think he would do better with a lecture tour, he can STILL do that while in Congress. Congressmen do speeches all the time. And, our rEVOLution has succeeded in making him a celebrity... when he speaks in Congress now they can't ignore him. Especially with the network of millions he has built. He can send out the call and we can flood our Congress critters' phone lines when ever a bill he supports comes up, or one he is against needs to be voted down. Losing his Congressional seat is unthinkable people. Even if you are maxed out in his Presidential campaign, you can still donate to the Congressional one, and he isn't allowed to use any of the Presidential money for the Congressional campaign. because it may be the only gesture that will keep his presidential campaign alive. Any money he has raised for the congressional seat can be donated to a person of his choosing, with his stamp of apporval, to run for the seat. His successful presidential campaign is our best hope to influence this country.

He still has money for the primaries..As he has said he will spend every last cent. Given the poor showing by the campaign staff perhaps he should funnel it to the grassroots in those states (or let them decide how best to use it) that remain so that they can do the publicity that has not been done...

Consider what has been done in this campaign. Dr. Paul is now known to many thousands who did not know of him before. People talk about the Fed; about fiat money, the constitution; all those important issues. Dr. Paul back in congress is no longer just a lone voice in the wilderness. He has an organization; if not an organization, then a network. When the summer soldiers have gone home, the meet-ups, and the communications system continue. The message can go out instantly; when Dr. Paul brings up an issue in Congress, other congressmen can be deluged with informed constituent mail, all supporting the message.

Recall P. J. O'Rourke's citing congress as "A Parliament of Whores" There are not six spines among them. While an 'honest congressman" can truly be defined as one, who once bought, stays bought, they can be moved. Constituent's uproar makes a difference. Think about how McCain's amnesty bill, bipartisan as it was, and "sure to pass" was sunk by constituent outrage. Dr. Paul belongs in Congress, if he doesn't make the White House. This time he has what I referred to as a bull horn in an earlier post. Hang in, keep the organization going, communicate, and work on your congressman. Make the difference at your primary election. Can't easily beat an incumbent in the general election, but, a dedicated, involved, informed PERSISTENT hard core can dominate a precinct and support the Ron Paul Republican.

Quite honestly, I think that Dr Paul could do a tremendous amount of good by lecturing all over the country. To be just one vote in Congress has so little impact as compared to Dr Paul spreading his message of liberty, foreign policy and economics all over the country. Imagine Dr Paul teaching our youth and anyone who wants to listen about how wonderful this country could be if we took back the Constitution and free markets.

I would think that honestly he could very well change the course of history in this country by spreading his message to millions rather than one vote in Congress. I personally have learned so much from him in the last 6 months and my eyes are now wide open to what has happend to America in the past and what we need to do to save our wonderful country. If Dr Paul doesn't win the nomination, my hope is that he continues to share his knowledge and hope with all Americans.

What good does he do in congress? He has proven that he will stick to his beliefs, but what actually changes? Nothing. $400,000 is a lot of money to pay for gestures.

Ron Paul has had greatness thrust upon him. He's on the national stage now, with the biggest grassroots political movement in American history behind him, and he wants to go back to casting token votes while the whole country goes to hell?

We have just begun to fight.

Ron Paul should consider retiring from congress and becoming the Chairman of the Republican Liberty Caucus.

He could travel the country growing that organization, writing books, giving speeches and helping to train and equip the future leadership of this nation.

In 4 years we can have the 2nd most powerful base in political history for the cause of liberty. The first was in 1776.

I love RP as much as any of you. He's just about the only chance we have left to return to a Constitutionally limited Republic.

However...

If people are going to wake up, then it needs to affect them directly.

People have the NIMBY syndrome. (Not in my back yard)

If it is not in their back yard, it doesn't affect them.

Ron Paul in Congress is like a band-aid where a tourniquet is needed. He is only one man. We either need more of him, or NONE of him, for people to pull their heads out of their asses and WAKE UP!

I think without RP fighting in Congress, the people would be in for a VERY rude awakening. He's been fighting for our rights for 10 terms in Congress. It's time we take responsibility for the other idiots we elect to represent us.

I think that with a few more 'McCains' and Romneys in the Congress, people would realize that things are not as they seem, and perhaps move them to action.

If not, we're lost anyway as a nation, and it doesn't really matter.

For those of you outside of Texas, wondering if it is OK/ethical to contribute to a Texas congressional campaign, do it. Dr. Paul is the closest thing to a national congressman you will ever see. He is one of the very few who represents our concerns. He has been "my congressman" even before I lived in his district. Since the great Texas redistricting (one of the few good things Delay did) Dr. Paul's district includes my part of Galveston.

Dr. Paul's congressional opponent used to be the (failed) county Republican chair; he has a lot of support from party hacks and flacks, so he cannot be taken lightly. I got a robo call at home; very snotty tone, and a serious misrepresentation of Dr. Paul's positions. The same on a radio ad I heard on KSEV.

For those outside of Texas wondering how one can run for congressman and president at the same time, this was put through the Legislature by LBJ when he was senator wanting to run for VP with Kennedy. Lloyd Bentsen did it as well, so it is just another of those Texas peculiarities.

Pat Gray and Ed Handie, war mongering Neo-con sympathizers of 700 KSEV, little day time only rinky-dink radio station here in Houston have been working daily to oust Ron Paul from his congresional district. Pat Gray was dismissed from his previous lofty position at 950 KPRC, management got tired of the same song and dance he spewed out daily. Well it's the same thing here at KSEV daily smearing of Ron Paul, I am one of the few who calls in to defend Ron Paul. It's ironic that they talk about the same concerns RP is articulating, then I call in and suggest, that since they have no real choice, RP would be the easy choice, but no, RP is for bringing the troops home. they constantly paint RP as dishonest and disingenuine for tacking on earmarks, then not voting for it. I tell them that RP is using Solomon's wisdom which I believe to be right. Pat Gray has his own blog site, I suggest to give him an earful.....
