IMPORTANT! Why Ron Paul Must NEVER Run as an Independent.

I got an email this morning urging me to persuade Ron Paul to run as an independent or on a 3rd party ticket later on.

This is either from misguided supporters, or from people who really do not want us to fix America.

Why must this NEVER happen?

The elite know that what we are doing is working. They plan for the long run. Whether or not Ron Paul gets the nomination or becomes president, every day he is showing that the ONLY way we can take our country and economy back is to TAKE OVER THE REPUBLICAN PARTY.

Every day, their supporters DIE. People like the evil men who stole votes in NH whom you can see in this video: http://www.youtube.com/wa...

The Ron Paul revolution is young,

Every day, we enrol and educate new members.

Using the systems already in place, such as the debates, the Ron Paul revolution has done miracles.

As elitestalker reminded us below: Remember we have hundreds possibly thousands of supporters who have spent their time and money becoming delegates. We can NOT abandon these people and switch parties.

Delegates are the secret weapon of the elite that were to be used against us. But in this case, that weapon will blow up in their faces.

Every single day, people become delegates and join the Republican Party. Every new election we, who knew next to nothing about politics, are learning about all the scams in the system.

The Revolution is not about one man.

It is about changing the system.

The elite and bankers set up a great two party system for controlling America and it's money. They know that the only thing that can change that system is if we take over one of the parties, like a swarm of ants.

There are now, and probably always will be, MILLIONS of people who will hear of and vote for Ron Paul because he is a Republican. But who will NEVER hear of him if he is a third party candidate. This kind of thing has been proven over and over in the past.

Remember that the revolution will spread to state and local government as well, if we do it this way.

So, whether it is about this election for president, or later ones for the presidency or congress, the ONLY way that we will fix things is to keep doing what we are doing now. That is, charging the battlements of the Republican party and taking it over completely, so that one day the elections and candidates are honest.

The elite know that most of their power base are old.

IN ADDITION, Ron Paul needs to stay a Republican to ensure he gets back into congress, and so that he can lead all the other Ron Paul supporters who are going to get elected to congress.

Whatever happens, remain focused. The systems are already in place for us to save America using the Republican party. Any other way will lead to nothing. May the ants win.

Realize

We have to realize that Dr. Paul is the first candidate of his type in modern history to actually take on one of the big 2 parties rather than run as a 3rd party. I sincerely hope he does not choose to run on a 3rd party ticket, as it will undermine all he and his supporters have done to try and get the Republican party back on track. I know those who will rally for a 3rd party run are well-intentioned because of their firm belief in the revolution but it would be foolish to throw your vote away considering how fraud would be a given and how the media has succeeded in keep Dr. Paul out of the spotlight to purposely keep his exposure at the bare minimum. I say give it 4 more years if it doesn't work out this election. The revolution will only grow during that time and so many will be awakened he would be sure to the the nomination next time around.

HOPING for Independent run if not republican!

Dr. Paul is the ONLY one who has had THREE paths to the White House.

If not Republican, then by all means, Independent!!!

Im waiting for this announcement on Wednesday before I can donate any more money! sorry, but true...

Great line

"The Revolution is not about one man.

It is about changing the system."

Long after this election, RP supporters will have truth on our side. I will never take off my revolution sticker from my car, it is my way of saying, don't blame me, i didn't vote for the status quo. The american people need to determine exactly what is the role of government in our life. We cannot afford the government that the liberals and neo cons want and this will become painfully clear in the next generation as much of our budget turns to entitlements and social security taxes are no longer a source of revenues but becomes an additional outlay. It is going to hit the fan in the next 20 years and it won't be pretty. RP supporters will always be able to say "I told you so".

I will follow Dr, Paul...

If McCain gets the nomination then I hope Dr. Paul does run as a 3rd party candidate. My loyalty is not to the Republican party, my loyalty lies with Ron Paul and America, I will follow him to the very end and I would encourage him to continue the presidential run for as long as possible.

Stay With Paul

No matter what Ron Paul does we must remain united!

As a Democrat, I particularly don't care for the neo-con dominated GOP one lick but if Ron Paul goes straight to the GOP convention then I'm with him all the way. Political parties are merely vehicles of change, they are in and of themselves NOT unredeemable characters or institutions. Read antiwar.com to learn how the neo-cons made a mass exodus from Lyndon B. Johnson's pro-Vietnam Democratic Party over to the previously non-interventionist "America First" GOP. Parties change. People change.

Let's keep things in perspective, fellow Paulites!

Having been involved in "minor" political parties like the Reform Party and the Libertarian Party, I can confidently say that the attempt to get media exposure is downright near impossible. The Green Party and Libertarian Party presidential candidates in 2004 were both treated like chumps by the MSM even though both opposed the Patriot Act and the Iraq Quagmire. They were shut out of debates so that idiots could listen to Kerry bore the nation to tears while Bush stumbled to speak perfectly bad English. I know illegal immigrants who speak the language better than that Skull-and-Bones Texas Rangers owner.

If Paul goes independent, I'm in. But for the time being he is playing a very, very smart delegate game; picking up uncommitted, traditionally conservative delegates who won't necessarily back McKill or Romnuts.

Ron Paul is not in the same economic position as Ross Perot to blanket the airwaves with millions and millions of dollars in infomercials. It nearly worked for Perot but at this point it is not the Ron Paul strategy, and should therefore not be our strategy.

Look, I agree more than anyone that we need to break the two-party system. but this is not what the Ron Paul Revolution is about. Today, we're working on electing a President.

That is another battle for another time. We will fight that battle through election reform, ending winner-take-all voting, and ballot access reform. Today, the name of the game is to take Ron Paul to the brokered convention and cause a political riot with a GOP up in arms. This is why I prefer that liberal anti-free speech McKill continues to beat Romney in the "popularity polls" we call primaries and caucuses. Remember, the name of the game is delegates.

Stay the course, my friends!

What do you plan to do when

What do you plan to do when McCain is the Nominee? Keep running as a Republican? You don't make any sense.

Following your lead means the minuscule amount of publicity we get now goes away completely, no more rallies, interviews, speeches, videos, money bombs, etc.
So, how do you plan on continuing to fill the ranks when the campaigning stops?

Do you really want to "takeover" a party that is going to be stigmatized for years, the party of McCain, who is about to lose to the Dems by 75%-25%?
It took 40 years for the GOP to come to power and in 15 years they managed to destroy the party. They won't be given another chance for 80 years now. It makes much more sense to bring something new and fresh to the table. I don't want to be in the party of slimy pigs anymore. You will never be able to unseat the true power holders in the GOP, no matter how many "Ron Paul Republicans" you get elected. You will just be used as a tool, like Rush and Hannity. No, pull your head out, the GOP is dead.

In a new party these war pigs have no power.

______________
"Resistance need not be violent, but the civil disobedience that might be required involves confrontation with the state and invites possible imprisonment." - Ron Paul

3rd Party

What you propose is exactly what the Young Republicans did in 1972 when they walked out of the GOP Convention and started the Libertarian Party. Where is the Libertarian Party today after 35 years? No Where. Been there, done that. Didn't work then and won't work now. Was there with every LP Presidential election since Roger McBride in 76 and ran as a Libertarian in numerous City, County, State and Federal elections including US Congress in 2000. The only way a third party will win is when the rules are the same for all political parties. Now the Reps and Dems control who can get on the ballot in any of the 50 states. Either way you are going to have to change one or the other of the major parties to change the rules for third parties in each of the 50 states. Best to use all the required time, money and energy to change one of the existing major parties. The Original Principals of the Republican Party are the reason Dr. Paul is a Republican. The Libertarian Party Statement of Principals is nearly identical to the Republican Party Principals except that the Republicans don't follow theirs.

Voluntary Association, Mutual Cooperation.

The point is

that the only way he is getting any publicity at ALL is because he's running in the Republican party. If he ran independent, he'd need a minimum of 150 mil just to get some ad time somewhere... if he was allowed to buy it. He would be just as blacked out as he is now, with one exception: he would not be allowed in delbates, etc. There are about 50 other issues with running independent right now. What it boils down to is that if he decided right now to make an independent bid, he could kiss his Congress position goodby and become the least known man in the United States as well. Probably not a good plan for a guy that is JUST TRYING TO GET THE MESSAGE OUT TO PEOPLE.

Any other bright ideas, or can we let this thread die, so the herd of tards can restart it tomorrow?

I concur we MUST take ...

the Republican Party back.

It been nice guys but it

It been nice guys but it appers that most on this forumn want to reform the system.

I want a revolution. You obviously do not know what a revolution is.

There is a big difference.

Good Luck.

This is absolute bullcrap

Listen, Ron Paul should continue to run as a Republican until it becomes painfully obvious that he will not get the nomination. Then, he should run as an independent. This is an absolutely ridiculous post.

Posted on Ron Paul Forums -

This post is also on www.ronpaulforums.com. There are a lot of good replies to it there. This is one of them:

THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT POST I'VE SEEN ON THESE BOARDS IN DAYS!!!

Read it learn it ACCEPT IT!!

Ron Paul is not going third party PERIOD... The only way REAL change gets affected is by beating the Republican Party at it's own game. Win or lose come Super Tuesday we must stay commited to fundamentally changing the Republican Party and shaping it into our view of America.

LEARN THE TRICKS and bylaws of your local GOP and BEAT THEM AT THEIR OWN GAME!! I have been harping on this at the local level for several months now. I think people are just now understanding what this means.

I went to a local GOP club meeting here in Toledo. We gathered about 20 or so meetup members(it could have easily been double that, but we didn't want to draw to much attention). We tied Mitt in the straw poll they held.

Normally they get about 10 to 12 people to show up. With us and the other younger people that showed up, there was easily 45 people there. If we had PUSHED HARD we could have brought about 45 to 50 LUCAS COUNTY RON PAUL GOP members to that meeting.

We outnumber on the local level the entrenched GOP. THIS WILL BE THE ENDURING LEGACY OF RON PAUL'S CANDIDACY!!

NO THIRD PARTY PERIOD!!

Robert

He doesn't need too

This election is far from over, the field is thinning, the republican base is fractured, we keep gaining support and McCain is only one "Dean" moment away from losing. I agree with this post and WILL be writing in Dr. Paul's name on my general election ballot in my own blood (if they're out of pens). Dr. Paul really doesn't need to consider a third party run because those loyal to him, will vote for him anyway!

We can't run 3rd party! We

We can't run 3rd party! We won't need to. My god people, it's way too early for this kind of talk. Just wait a bit longer. Everybody is so programmed to think instant results. Has society caused us to loose the virtue of patients? Only 6 states have voted out of 50 and you are ready to throw in the towel? Just wait, there is something brewing under the surface and it is getting ready to blow. Dr. Paul is a genius, you all know that, give him some credit and support. He ran Republican for a reason. Don't you think he has thought long and hard from his previous run in 88? Don't you think he has thought long and hard about what went wrong and what went right? Have faith. Trust him. You are a follower for a reason, he can lead us to victory. All we have to do is listen to him and do what he tells us to do. He says canvass, then canvass. He says donate, donate.

It is not too early. After

It is not too early. After tomorrow it will be half over.

If McCain is close to the number of delegates needed it will be over.

Time to run 3rd party or get out of the race and run for Congress or something.

I say run 3rd party and still run as an independent for the seat in Texas.

Look what Lieberman did in 2006. It can be done.

This should be discussed if

This should be discussed if he cannot win the republican nom, not before, and yes, if he can´t, then he should, and he will win!!!!!

WHO CARES ABOUT THE PARTY!

Here we are bickering again, third party, republican, winning primaries, losing primaries. People GET OVER YOURSELVES either you are with Ron Paul or you are not, no matter what he is doing he needs our support. He is doing what he is doing for a reason, either you support him or you don't there is no middle of the road. You can woulda, coulda, shoulda all day long, but if you want Ron in the White House there is only ONE way to help, by supporting him regardless!

The more and more I hear from "supporters" complaining the more and more I realize that so many are nothing but followers of the "If he cant win, why vote for him" ilk, you've just stuck around a little longer than most. Now is the time to support the campaign and encourage each other. If you've given up, please give up and get out of here, stop poisoning the well!

Go Caseyc!

Now THAT's what I'm talking about.. drop the ~third party~ stupidity and let's get to work on what we're suposed to be doing... and the people that don't like that, then go run independent yourself.. you'll have the same chances winning as RP would on an Indy ticket. Remember.. RP isn't stupid... but some of you are!

I think you need a serious

I think you need a serious reality check.

I have donated my time and my money and have spent the last few months of my life doing everything I can to get Dr. Paul elected. I have even lost a few friends over it.

So don't tell me what to do.

He needs to stay in this race. This is the year to go 3rd party.

There will never be a better time.

He has wasted all of my efforts if he does not.

Wow

First off Mac, I appreciate your time and money and I'm sure Dr. Paul does as well. But to say "He has wasted all of my efforts if he does not" is missing the mark, I would say this: "If you feel you have wasted your efforts, then surely you have"

I'm not going to contribute to the third party debate, it's pointless until the Republican nomination is set in stone. That's the goal here. If you don't support him running as a Republican I say keep your money, save your energy and wait to see if he runs independent after the nomination.

I have supoprted him running

I have supoprted him running as a Republican. Earth to supporters. THE PARTY DOES NOT WANT US. Get that through your heads.

Lets go around them. We may not win but we can cost them the election.

It is the message, not the man

If you can't figure that out, then it's possible that you're not needed here anyways.. now is the time to seperate the wheat from the chaff...;)

A third party ticket will NOT work.. anyone with a little experience in the political field knows this... it's a pipedream.

And that's precisely why we're hearing so many proposals...

...about a 3rd party run. Because those in the know, KNOW it won't work. So they - trolls - are trying to tempt those without experience in the political field (i.e. most new Ron Paul supporters) with a plan that they KNOW is a sure loser. Don't fall for it. You're not paranoid if they're really out to get you...

So is changing the

So is changing the Republican party or thinking you are going to win a delegate fight on the floor at the convention.

If that is the best idea the campaign has then they have wasted a lot of money.

Whoa! Wake up, Mac!

Do you know what day it is? It is the day before Super Tuesday and you should be writing to, talking to, and bumping and stumping the people in your precinct. Every day I make at least one Pauler of all the people I meet, many days two and more.
Get with the program. Stop trolling doubt-fueled distractions and get eloquent on the situation we're in so you can be effective at understanding what's real to the people you speak with daily in order to bring them up to speed on what's going down.
Thanks--really--for all you've done so far but, campaign strategy is aimed at tomorrow and time is an inventory that can't be replenished: don't waste or disrupt it!
Listen to Ron in any video or text you have to but support him and his ten terms of tenacity at turning things around! How many of these terms have you been with him?
The man knows what he's doing and he relies on all of our support as he has repeatedly stated.
It really is always darkest before the storm because it is the tightest focus of the impending moment of doubt vs hope. Understand which one you are contributing to with your actions. Whatever Ron does it will be by his decision at the time he needs to make it. Right now one the most critical moments of campaign strategy is about to unfold and one of its key elements is our bringing others into this camp for fresh support and new donations.
Let's go!

I am sorry but ya'll are

I am sorry but ya'll are just wrong. We can't reform the Republican party nor do I want to.

I am through wasting my time with this. I will spend my time getting my assets and resources ready for the economic hell that is about to be unleashed on this country.

Good luck spending all your time trying to reform a party that does not want you. That is a collosal waste of time and energy.

I wanted to actually have someone to vote for this year. I will vote for the Libetarian or Constitution Party candidate whomever he might be. I really wish it was Dr. Paul.

But I guess ya'll will still be trying to revive a dying patient in the Republican party. To HELL with the Republican party.

At one time I use to think

At one time I use to think as you did.. but I changed my mind as I tried to swing a lot of neo-cons back to sanity.

The Republican party is partly people like us, and people like Ron.. and it's partly this warmongering hateful zealotist religious bunch that wants to use force on people and create laws against immorality. They don't believe in limited government, they only believe in the power of the state to introduce their fascist dreams.

If Ron ran 3rd party. He would pull people like me and people like you away from the Republicans and they would be left with a sour bunch. He could possibly create a real alternative party.

I Agree

All of these other parties just get totally ignored. Look at the Libertarian Party. Ron Paul's message got way more attention so far than it ever did in 1988. As we know, it's the exact same message now as it was then.

The Neocons took over the Republican Party, so the Ron Paul Republicans can do the same. There's such a huge pool of people out there that can be tapped into that can overwhelm the current party and make the changes that are needed.

Ron Paul Says He will not run 3rd Party

politepaulite

Please read in his own words last 3 paragraphs. Now stop this and get him elected to this party

http://www.thenewamerican...

Well I am disapointed if

Well I am disapointed if that is his decision

Aaron Russo...

....took over the Republican party in his state and the Republican party just disassociated themselves with it and started up again with the "old guard." If Ron Paul got 15% or more of the vote on a 3rd party ticket, that 3rd party in the future would be in the debates, etc.

The Republican party is unredeemable and anyone who thinks it is is wasting everyone's time.

I tend to agree, we must

I tend to agree, we must regain not only the Republican Party, but every single legislative body in every State. Once that is accomplished then we will have far more influence. It is much easier to take over the States. While I don't say that we should ignore national politics, we should put a lot of focus on each of the State legislatures, then we will have 50 governments standing against the power of the one federal government.

You are so wrong. We need a

You are so wrong. We need a new party. We need Ron to lead it.

I am through with the two party system. We would be a better country with many parties as opposed to the two parties that dominate everything.

I absolutely hate our current system.

We will not and cannot change the Republican party. We have to go around it and subvert it. Make it fail.

That is what I plan to do this November with everyone I can influence.

It would be nice to have Dr. Paul leading the way.

Changing GOP is possible

Why do you say we cannot change the Republican party?

The party is just the sum of its parts. Most people never bother to show up for party elections. Ron Paul supporters can have a disproportionate impact simply by getting involved in their local Republican party.

This is the way the socialists took over the Democratic party.

It's the difference between taking over the steering wheel of a semi-truck versus trying to patch together a motorcycle from parts.

The poster is spot on ..

I have heard the call for "new" parties for decades.
Know what all that expended energy has yielded?
In my lifetime, in your lifetime, this is the closest we have ever been to having an actual voice inside one of the two ruling parties.
This is no time to pack up and rejoin the side show IMO ...

You'd do better to subvert

You'd do better to subvert it/change it from within and then allow other parties more visibility to make America more fair and representative.

There's a lot of third party people out there

It is time Ron Paul doesn't get much support from his counter parts in congress he votes against there outrageous spending and illegal spending he can be the face of a new party the party of freedom . I heard people saying he would be vilified if he ran and cost the republicans the election I say so what he's 72 he doesn't see eye to eye with the republicans or democrats and he doesn't care what they think look at people like Joe Scarborough who called him insane I say F&ck'em .He should run and run and run no retreat no surrender

"All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent" Thomas Jefferson

Delegate, Delegates, Delegates

Remember we have hundreds possibly thousands of supporters who have spent their time and money becoming delegates. We can NOT abandon these people and switch parties.
To the other poster, we MUST infiltrate one of these two parties in order to destroy the system from the inside, the Republican party is in dissaray and the PERFECT target for such an infiltration.

The Republican party is dying

and it deserves to.
You have as much chance of taking over the Republican party as you do the Democrat party, at the core they are the same.

GOOD. It is a system, ripe for take-over.

At the core, they are all people. OLD people who can be replaced.

you are WRONG

The party system is what's wrong with this country. The 2-party hoax that has been perpetrated on this country has fooled millions of Americans into thinking that voting for the "other party" will effect change. We need to restore the idea of independent thought to this country, and history has shown that this can be accomplished by creating new parties in response to a miserable status quo. If Ron Paul doesn't make a 3rd party bid we have no chance at all to make a real difference in this country. Most Democrats have not even heard his ideas because they are so focused on "getting the Republicans out" that they listen only to the "disagreements" between Hillary and Obama. I am so sick of the GOP I can't wait for Ron Paul to ditch it, and I hope it withers away and dies.

The majority of sleepers in

The majority of sleepers in this country won't even vote for RP as a Republican, let alone vote for 3rd Party. I don't think the sheep are ready unfortunately.
