Is the GOP Running Against Paul in Texas

The country-club Republicans went so far as to get a democrat to switch parties to run against him once before. The funny thing is, RP was able to re-use all the anti- big-government material the party had gathered on his opponent during the previous election.

It's not just the country that needs sorting out. The Republican Party needs RP to return it to its platform.

He has a few opponents but he always beats them handily. He is well loved in Texas in his district -- he delivered most of those babies!

Texas Politics. What was that Congressman's name, the guy they called The Hammer that looked everyone straight in the eye (on camera) and pulled a BILL CLINTON and claimed he was as pure (innocent) as the new fallen snow. What is his name? There was mention at the time that his wrongdoing was being prosecuted by someone there in Texas that had the best interest of the people in mind, but for some reason TIME seems to have made this less important, so much in fact I can't recall the corrupt Congressman's name. I did see him recently at one of the EVENTS (on TV) all smiles and shaking hands (rubbing elbows as the saying goes) so I suppose whatever happened to him it wasn't much of a big deal.

What was that guy's name again? Well, here's a photograph of him, maybe someone else out there will remember who it is I speak of -- another Texas Politician. No insult intended to RON PAUL -- He's my hero, he just happens to be from Texas.

You can see by some of the comments that the opponent has some people working for him... SOME.

The opponent's problem is he is running a dirty campaign - and he is just now realizing that he is not going to be able and just TAKE the seat with his scroungy little 30k.

Of course the GOP is running against Paul here in Texas - I LIVE here and they hate him here.... always have tried to dethrone him...
but they wont... reason is, Paul delivered all their babies in that district.

I think Dr. Paul has at least 4000 meetup members in Texas.

I remember in 2002 when I first heard of Dr Paul and gave to his campaign, there was talk of the GOP redistricting his district like Bob Barr's in Georgia to try to debunk his spot. Didn't work, though.

The GOP is dead.

GOP has never backed Ron. He has always won only through the hard work of his supporters, and no help from the local media etc. Basically like his presidential campaign but on a smaller scale.

The signs are on the wall...this is our last chance. The Bolshevik take over is full stride now !

Well Texas governor Rick Perry endorsed Giuliani(another NAU supporter) and then McCain and he hates RP and will work against him because RP is trying to stop the Trans Texas Corridor and the entire NAFTA Superhighway and the NAU which Perry supports.
Back in 1996, both Bush's, Newt Gingrich and others campaigned for RP's opponent to try to make him lose his house seat, but RP still managed to win. I'd expect the same sort of thing to happen again. RP needs our help in Texas.

He is using the "Ron Paul blames America first" strategy.

We need to donate money for his re-election campaign.

There is now someone running against his seat. That is why he is now asking for contributions to his congressional campaign. I don't think they will be able to unseat him but he needs the funds to protect himself.

I don't know, but they've done it before... back in 1996... Paul kicked their butts... they recruited a democrat to join the GOP and run against him. Paul only had 6% in the polls... but he beat him later on...

They had both Bushes campaigning for the other guy... when Paul won, George W. Bush (who was governor then), called Paul to his office... all he said was "Well, you ran one hell of a race."

in that race he had the whole GOP against him... nationally, and he still one.

tried to do it years ago by drafting a former democrat to run against him. Dr. Paul was polling less than 10% at that time, like now, and he had then Gov. Bush, Ex-Pres. Bush and the GOP establishment backing their hand-picked opponent. Dr. Paul won.
