Enough with this brokered convention nonsense. I couldn't even freakin' vote for Ron Paul today because I'm a registered democrat. Look, let the republican party have their neo-con puppet run for president. They don't want Ron Paul, so forget it.
Let's stop wasting our time dwelling on crazy outlandish scenarios that are never going to happen. I don't know what debates are coming up soon, but I say RP milk the platform as much as possible to expose his message as much as possible, and then drop out and go 3rd party. A 3rd party run is the ONLY way Ron Paul can become president. Let's urge the campaign to run 3rd party and let's put together a 9 month grassroots effort that will win RP the presidency come November.
Can you imagine how much money we can raise for him in 9 months? Can you imagine how much more support we can generate for him in 9 months? Can you imagine how many ads can run in local newspapers and how much GOTV work can be accomplished in that time? Look, we have been playing beat the clock with these damn republican primaries. Enough is enough. Ron Paul's message is universal and is NOT the republican message. He has too much democratic & independent support to be isolated as a republican candidate only. Ross Perot was able to get 20% of the vote in 1992 as a 3rd party candidate (and that's with him dropping out of the race midway through). I am convinced we can get at least 35% of the popular vote come November, which will be enough to win the presidency.
I've been a Republican since Reagan, but since Reagan it hasn't made a difference - Republican or Democrat, it's all broken. It's been the illusion of choice.
Then Ron Paul came along and there was hope agaiin. He stands for everything I believe in. I can't vote for anyone else. I'll write him in if I have to. But obviously the GOP is ruined. It's gone, it's lost. It's now the Neo-conservative Party. They should change their name.
If people ask me what my political affiliation is today, I say, "Non-conformist."
Numerous posts were made here on DP and similar post on RP's websiye to change registration if someone is an independent or Dem and wish to vote for RP in the primaries. In fact, you could have called the HQ and asked the process. The fact that people had problems inspite is a different story.
You can come up with excuses but that is not going to help now.
Why? Because I missed the cutoff deadline, simple as that. I'm sure others were in the same boat as me as well. In a general election, none of that party crap will matter. Anyone can vote for anyone they want. Would you rather RP stick around and hope for good results at a brokered convention many many months from now or KNOW for a fact that he is going to be on the ballot come November? I want to vote for him on Election Day. If he goes 3rd party now, that is guaranteed.
...let the BROKER-age begin!! (And don't think the Doc won't mastermind this thing to completion....it "smells" like this has been his STRATEGY all along!!)
How? If Ron Paul has only, say, 30 or 40 (or 50 or even 90) delegates by the time of the convention, do you REALLY think that he would be considered a "player" in a brokered convention ---- even if he were not already being blocked and spurned by the mainstream GOP at every turn? Really, this sounds like grasping at straws, and has about as much chance at succeeding as a 3rd-party run.
I think that's 2 separate sentences. They won't (get the 1191 delegates) and let the brokerage begin. Yup I'm ready to be a delegate our caucus is this Sat. (Wa state)
But now it's looking like we're about 1 big step away from guaranteeing Ron a national stage in St. Paul, Minnesota.
McCain's not going to get the 1191 delegates needed, he doesn't even have 500 right now.
Why else do you think the old media is running around like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off?
It's looking like Romney is going to be the surprise caualty of Super Tuesday - and his votes could easily swing to Paul, mainly due to the fact that where Romney does well Ron is usually a close second.
The smoke and confusion from this giant clusterfudge of a Super Tuesday will not go away anytime soon.

a friend of mine, democrat, said today he liked Ron Paul
but like you remained registered a democrat and couldn't vote for him.
Not awake.
Can you imagine, you ask. Can you imagine, you ask again.
Can you imagine if you and others like you were awake enough to register appropriately to vote for Ron Paul?
Otherwise... dream on.

Go third party Ron Paul. I'll be there with you.
First of all, why did'nt you change your registration then?

Yes..I need an answer to the below?
Please help with this:
After today approx. delegates:
Mccain 499, Romney 169, Huckabee 156. This is approximate.
Let's say 499 for McCain by end of Super T.
It takes 1,191 to get GOP nomination. McCain is not even 1/2 way.
Therefore, McCain can't possibly win the GOP nomination any way soon.
Neither can any of the 3 leaders.
Tell me honestly---with the delegate being split like this----among the 3 top, how will ANY of em obtain the 1,191 needed to win GOP nomination?
they won't...
